Mrs. Theresa Mosley Brown, of Camilla, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the home of her mother-in-law in Newton, Georgia. The wife of Sammy W. Brown of Camilla, she was 44. Born on October 18, 21965 in Toombs County, Georgia, she was the daughter of Mrs. Orene Padgett Mosley and the late J.L. Mosley. She was a homemaker and attended Traveler's Rest Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Traveler's Rest Freewill Baptist Church in Baker County, Georgia. The Rev. Harold Williams will officiate and interment will be held in the church cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church.

Survivors include Mrs. Brown's husband, Sammy W. Brown of Camilla; children, Jack Tennille of Arlington, GA, Steven Tennille and wife, Aleathea, of Sale City, GA and Ashley Mooreland of Albany, GA; mother, Orene Padget Mosley of Valdosta, GA; sisters, Martha Sapp and husband, Ricky, Emily Hagan and husband, Greg, Delphine Street and husband, Jimmy, all of Lake Park GA, Marie Ziegler and husband, Bill, of Valdosta, GA, Brenda Nichols and husband, Jack of De Funiak Springs, FL, and Jenny Hearn and husband, Ricky, of Pooler, GA; brothers, Keith Anderson of Lake Park, GA; grandson, Josie Tennille of Sale City, GA and seventeen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Mosley and her brothers, David Mosely and Darvin Mosley.

John C. Kemper

Born in Morrow, Georgia February 20, 1919
Departed on May 19, 2010 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia

Dr. John C. Kemper of Pelham died peacefully at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the age of 91. Dr. Kemper was born in Morrow, Georgia on February 20, 1919 and grew up in Jonesboro, Georgia. He was the son of Dr. Harvey Dorman Kemper and Marietta Orr Kemper. Dr. Kemper served with the 49th U.S. Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees) as a Yeoman petty officer during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was stationed in Bermuda and Guam. After his military service he attended Mercer University in Macon, GA for pre-dental undergraduate work as qualification to attend Emory University of Dentistry in Atlanta, Georgia. He was awarded the DDS degree from Emory University in 1951. In 1954 he and his late wife, Bettye Keel Kemper, moved to Pelham where Dr. Kemper practiced dentistry until his retirement in 1987. Many folks fondly remember his painless dentistry and those vouchers for free ice cream for his pediatric patients. Dr. Kemper was an accomplished artist in all mediums. He painted giant murals on the baptismal of several area churches. He was an accomplished woodworker. Dr. Kemper was involved in Little Theater where he acted in and directed several productions including Harvey, Arsenic and Old Lace and the Sound of Music. He loved classical music and taught himself to play the piano. He taught himself to read Greek in order to better understand early Bible scriptures. Dr. Kemper recently published a novel, The Yeoman's Bridle, which paralleled his life. He was a Paul Harris fellow and member of the Pelham Rotary Club. He was a member of the Hand Memorial United Methodist Church of Pelham. He was a dedicated Christian and taught Sunday School Classes and Bible study classes for many years. Dr. Kemper loved to cook and was famous for his cornbread muffin recipe. He is survived by his three children, Kathy K. Chew and her husband Randy Chew of Pelham, John Karl Kemper of Pelham, and Grady Keel Kemper of Unity Maine; three grandchildren Randall Emerson Chew, Jr., of St. Simons Island, Georgia, John Spencer Chew of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Katharine Anne Kemper of Unity, Maine. Dr. Kemper was an icon in Pelham, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was also preceded in death by brothers Alan Kemper, Houston Kemper and Herman Kemper. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the residence of Kathy and Randy Chew at 657 Hand Avenue, Pelham. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Hand Memorial United Methodist Church in Pelham. Rev. Bobby J. Ward

Mr. Bobby J. Ward passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA. Born in Cook County, Georgia on December 31, 1951, Mr. Ward was 58 years old. The husband of Judy Hayes Ward of Meigs, Mr. Ward was the retired manager of Akridge Ag in Camilla, GA. He was a Baptist by faith and is survived by his mother, Merle Buckholts and step-father Earl Buckholts of Sparks, GA.
Funeral services for Bobby Ward will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. graveside at Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Rev. Earl Buckholts will officiate. Pallbearers will be Davis Waycaser, Josh Baker, Thomas Roberts, Tommy Akridge, Paul Southerland and Sonny Nixon. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 30. 2010 at Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham from 5-8 p.m.

Survivors include Mr. Ward's wife, Judy H. Ward of Meigs, GA; children, daughter Michelle Skinner and husband, Stacy of Hahira, GA, sons, Michael Ward and wife, Rebecca of Valdosta, Mark Ward and wife, Sarah Holton of Pelham, Darin Pearce and wife, Darby, of Meigs, GA, Kevin Pearce and wife, Kerrie, of Lakeland, GA; mother & step-father, Merle and Earl Buckholts of Sparks, GA; brother, Charles Ward of Sparks, GA; sisters, Shirley Purcell and husband, Larry of Cleveland, GA; grandchildren, Lee Pearce, Lauren Pearce, Elizabeth Pearce, Austin Pearce, Hannah Pearce, Hayden Weeks, Jordan Pearce, Madelyn Page, Abigail Skinner, Josh Skinner, Levi Ward and several nieces and nephews.

Debbye C. Lee

Born in Mitchell County, Georgia on March 7, 1952
Departed on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at her residence

Ms. Debbye C. Lee passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at her residence in Pelham. She was 58 years old. Born on March 7, 1952 in Mitchell County to the late E. Davis Cox and Montine Lodge Cox, she was a bookkeeper for the Pelham Board of Education. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Pelham.

Funeral services for Debbye C. Lee will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church. iIntermentwill be held in the church cemetery. Rev. Doug Hall will officiate. Pallbearers will be Walter Sealy, Les Pollock, Stan Hurst, Artie Butler, Greg Fenn and Scott Layton. Honorary pallbearers will be Nealie McCormick, Hayden Moye, David Chambless, Eldon Sellars, Charles Humphries, Carol Whigham and Troy Pearson. The family will be receiving friends at 330 Sellers St. in Pelham from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010.

Survivors include her daughters, Michele Altman Yoder and husband, Kenneth of Camilla, GA and Charlene Altman Duelge and husband, Justin, of Bradenton, FL; son, Larry A. Thomas, Jr. and wife, Jessica C. of Coolidge; grandchildren, Bryan Williams and Daniel Williams of Camilla, GA, Logan Altman-Duelge and Madison Duelge of Albany.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Union Grove Youth Ministry- 2293 Old Pelham Rd., Pelham GA 31779.

Melvin Saul Norris

Mr. Melvin Saul Norris passed away on June 8, 2010 in Gordon, AL. He was 63. Born to the late Floyd and Goldie Norris in Oakridge, TN on February 8, 1947, he was retired from the U.S. Navy. Married to Jackie Wilkes Norris, he was a member of the Navy Nuclear Weapons Association and of the Military Officers Association.
Funeral services for Mr. Norris will be held on June 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Malone, FL.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Wilkes Norris; daughter, Jennifer Norris; son, Jonathan Wynn; grandchildren, Alexander Norris, Robert Martinez, Nicholas Barnes, Gabriel Wynn, Abrigale Wynn; in-laws, Doris & Jack Wilkes and a sister, Karen Wilson.

Mr. Norris was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Goldie Norris.
Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home and Crematory in Dothan, AL will be handling the arrangements for Mr. Norris.

Mr. Austin Thomas Hurst, 70, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at his residence in Meigs. He was married to Virdes Barrineau. Born on September 17, 1939 in Meigs, GA, he was the son of the late Austin and Annie Jane Shirah Hurst. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was a carpenter by trade.
Funeral services for Mr. Hurst are Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Dion Brown will officiate and interment will be held in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Padon Hurst, Kyle Hurst, Matthew McMullen, Bradford Hurst, Roy Mac Alligood, Glenn Timmons, John Rich, Scott Miller, Gary Hurst and Trey Hayes. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham.
Survivors include Mr. Hurst's wife of 51 years, Virdis Barrineau Hurst of Meigs, GA; children, Debra Jewell Holt of Naples, FL, Rodney Austin Hurst and wife, Elaine, of Meigs, GA, Karen Doherty and husband, Mike of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Mary Hardwick Griffin, Erica Holt Strang and husband, Justin, Jason Aldredge, Ryan Doherty, Ashley Doherty, Justin Hurst, Nicole Hurst; great grandchildren, Cooper Welch, Baley Welch, Logan Griffin, Landen McMullen; sisters, Myrtic H. Williams and husband, James of Thomasville, GA, Wilma H. Benton and husband, M.L. of Thomasville, GA, Geneva H. Nixon and husband, Wesley, of Pelham, GA, Minnie Lee H. Holt and his parents, Austin and Annie Jane Shirah Hurst.

Sandra White Langley

Mrs. Sandra White Langley, of Pelham, passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. She was 65. Born on March 4, 1945 in Mitchell County, Georgia to the late Drew C. White and Christine Avera White, Mrs. Langley was a homemaker. She was married on June 27, 1964 to the love of her life, Larry Langley of Pelham. She was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church.

The funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Langley will be held on Monday, June 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home. The Rev. Clint Yelverton will officiate. iIntermentwill be held in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tom Wheeler, Norman White, Tres Collins, Hal Marshall, Clark Connell, Dewayne Bentley, Lee Flynt and Ronald Hayes. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home.

Riley Mason White

Mr. Riley Mason White, 7, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from an accident. He was a native of Waycross but had lived all of his life in Blackshear. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sandra Langley. He would have been in the second grade at Blackshear Elementary School this coming year.
Survivors include his parents, Norman and Lesley Langley White of Blackshear; a sister, Harley White of Blackshear; his grandparents, George and Meriliss White of Blackshear, and Larry Langley of Pelham; a great grandmother, Leatrice White of Waycross; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (June 19, 2010) at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waycross. Burial will be in Zenith Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday night at Music Funeral Home from 6-8.

Gladys Louise Rehberg

She was a retired grocery clerk for Scott and Marshall Grocery Store and a member of East Pelham Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Ms. Rehberg are to be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside at Pelham City cemetery in Pelham, GA. The Rev. Herman Hampton will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham.
Survivors include Ms. Rehberg's Sister-in-law, Idna Rehberg of Pelham, GA; 4 Nephews; 2 Nieces. Ms. Rehberg was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lewis and Ascenth Harrison Rehberg; and her brother, J.T. Rehberg.

James "Jim" Edwin Collins, Sr.

Mr. Collins, of Cotton, GA, was retired from the Department of Agriculture and was a member of Lake Pleasant Baptist Church. He was born on April 25, 1954 in Mitchell County, Georgia to Mr. Marcus Eugene Collins, Sr. and Elizabeth Griffin Collins.

Funeral services for Mr. Collins will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home Chapel in Pelham. Rev. Larry Wynn and Mr. Ronnie Morrell will officiate. iIntermentwill be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tim Smith, James Davis, Larry Ragan, Ralph Collins, Tres Collins and Steve Morrell. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Garrett Collins of Hopeful, GA; son, James Edwin Collins, Jr. "Winn" of Cotton, GA; parents, Marcus Eugene Collins, Sr. and Elizabeth Griffin Collins of Cotton, GA; brothers, Marc Collins and wife, Rosa, of Cotton, GA, Al Collins and wife, Peggy, of Cotton, GA; sisters, Ann Ragan and husband, Larry, of Smiths, AL, Jenni Smith and husband, Tim, of Cotton, GA, Becky Davis and husband, James, of Cotton, GA, a special friend, Cheryl Powell and several nieces and nephews.
