Herman Heath

ELLAVILLE, GA — Mr. Herman (Boweevil) Heath, age 58, of 5990 SR 228, Ellaville, died Monday evening, June 25, 2007 at Flint River Community Hospital in Montezuma. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2007 at A & J Hunting Club, 4461 SR 228, Ellaville.

Mr. Heath was born Sept. 9, 1948 in Schley County, the son of Rosabelle Dobbs Heath and Douglas Heath. He was a retired truck driver. Mr. Heath attended County Line Methodist Church and was a member of A & J Hunting Club.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Heath; one daughter and son in law, Jennifer and Bill Jackson of Ellaville; one grandchild, Preston Jackson of Ellaville; one brother and sister in law, Danny and Diane Heath of Ellaville; and one sister, Barbara Neill of Milton Park, Ohio. Mr. Heath was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Heath.

The family of Mr. Heath will receive friends and family at their home at 5990 SR 228, Ellaville.

Lawrence Johnson

PERRY — Services for Lawrence Johnson, 50, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, june 23 at New Hope Baptist Church in Perry.

A native of Macon County, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Johnson and John Thomas Haugabook and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors are, his wife Vernessa Johnson; children, Latrina, Kevin and Keandrea; brothers and sisters, Linda (Elzie) Cephus of Montezuma, Trent (Wanda) Johnson of Peoria, Ill., Arthur (Aileen) Johnson of Lakeland, Fla., William (Louise) Johnson of Miami, Fla., John Thomas (Sandra) Haugabook of Bonaire, John Edward (Tolley) Haugabook of Fort Myers, Fla., Tracy Haugabook of Fort Valley, Jerry Haugabook and Thomas Haugabook both of Montezuma; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ida Johnson of Miami, Fla., Almeta (Eddie) Ragin of Perry, Marjorie (Chester) White of Jackson, Jeffery (Barbara) Billings, the Rev. Leonard (LaTonya) Billings and Michael (Betty) Billings all of Perry, and Robery Wayne (Natalie) Billings of Macon; Godmothers, Doris King of Perry and Emmie Baldwin of Tallahassee, Fla.; Godsister, Reva Myers of Tallahassee, Fla.; aunts and uncle, Elizabeth (Willie James) Larry and Elois Nicholson of Montezuma and J.C. Thornton of Oglethorpe; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Waters, Johnson, Baldwin Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 517, Montezuma, GA 31063.

Lucius M. Harvey Jr.

WETUMPKA, Ala. — Lucius M. (Mac) Harvey Jr., 70, a resident of Wetumpka, Ala. and formerly of Homestead, Fla., died on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in Wetumpka, Ala. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2007 in Oak Grove Cemetery, Americus.

Mr. Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jellison Harvey and his parents, Lucius M. Harvey Sr. and Mary Peel Harvey of Sumter County.

He is survived by daughters, Laurie Harvey (Patrick) Gregory of Wetumpka, Ala., and Lucia Harvey (John) Miller of Winter Park, Fla.; brother, John William “Bill” Harvey (Barbara) of Dawson, step-daughter, Shari (Dave) Barton of Homestead, Fla.; grandchildren, Sarah Elisabeth Gregory, Emily Jayne Gregory, Courtney Elise Miller, Kailey Ellyn Miller, Glenna Elizabeth Miller, Tim Nichols, Ryan Barton, and Danielle Barton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were dear to him.

Mr. Harvey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Homestead, a former member of the Royal Palm Masonic Lodge, No. 100, F. & A.M., and a Shriner. As a young man he served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a retired funeral director, having worked for many years at Branam Funeral Home in Homestead and Reese Park Chapel in Americus.

OTIS THORNTON

The funeral services for the late Mr. Otis Thornton of 108 Cotton Street, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Wilson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., from the Greater New Birth Baptist Church in Sylester, Georgia with the Minister Ondra Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden in Sylvester, Georgia.

Otis Thornton was born March 25, 1952 to Hattie Bell Jackson and the late O.H. Thornton in New York City. He was raised by his Grandparents Ozella and David McMahon.

He was educated in the Fessenden school system in Martin, FL. He was a member of the New Chapel Baptist Church in Ocala, FL.

He worked for several years in Florida and did textile work at Worth Textile and the Empire after returning to Sylvester, Ga.

On April 6, 2012 he departed his life at Wilson Hospice House in Albany, Ga.

Otis leaves to cherish his memories a very loving mother Mrs. Hattie Bell Thomas of Sylvester, Ga. One son LaTrellab Johnson of Ocala, FL. and one daughter Zerita L. Parker of Sylvester, Ga. Three grandchildren; Zatavia and Jeremiah Parker of Sylvester, Ga and Jrevonn Johnson of Ocala, FL. Eight brothers, three who proceed him in death; Leroy Jackson Sr., Calvin Thornton, and Michael Thomas. Horace Claitt (Retha) of Albany, Ga, John H. Thornton (Sandra) of West Palm Beach, FL, Ondra Thornton (Theola) of Ocala, FL, Randolph and Bruce Thomas of Sylvester, Ga. Two sisters Annette Parker and Phyllis Thornton of Sylvester, Ga. Two step sisters Ernestine Matthews of Avon Park FL, and Brenda Coleman who also processed him in death. A sister in law, Lizzie Jackson of Sylvester, Ga , a special aunt Mackie Wilkerson of Ocala, FL, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

CHIKISKA Y. WILLIAMS

The funeral services for the late Miss Chikiska Y. Williams of 109 Curtis Street, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Phoebe Worth Medical Center in Sylvester, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the First African Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia with the Reverend Willie S. Jenkins, pastor of True Revelation Minsitries, Poulan, Georgia, officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden cemetery in Sylvester, GA.

Chikiska Williams High, daughter of Mr. Benny High and the late Mrs. Mary Jackson, was born November 16, 1976 in Sylvester, Georgia.

At a young age, Chikiska and her mother relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. After her mother passed away, Chikiska was placed in the home of her father and step-mother. As she grew older, Chikiska moved back to Sylvester, Georgia to live with her aunt, Ms. Diane Mack, who took care of her until she was called home.

In January of 2011, Chikiska accepted Christ as her Savior, and joined True Revelation Ministries Church under the leadership of pastor Willie S. Jenkins. She joined the Mass Choir, and loved the song "Everybody Dance".

Our loved ones life on this earth came to and end on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Phoebe Worth Medical Center in Sylvester, Georgia. Her sister, Shonqyat High Gates, preceded her in death.

Left to mourn and forever cherish her memories are her father, Mr. Benny High of Macon, Georgia; stepmother, Valerie (Kirk) Smith of McDonough, Georgia; a devoted aunt, Diane Mack of Sylvester, Georgia; two brothers, Burk Jackson of Macon, Georgia and Alvin Jackson of Sylvester, Georgia; two sisters, Tiajuana (Thomas) Dillard of Jonesboro, Georgia, Benyatta High of McDonough, Georgia; a close friend, Kelly Ford of McDonough, Georgia; her cousin Tianne "Snookems" Rushing of Sylvester, Georgia; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and friends.

ANNIE B. WILLIAMS

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Annie B. Williams of 182 Liberty Hill Road, Doerun, Georgia, who departed this life on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Phoebe Worth Medical Center in Sylvester, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the New Beulah Grove Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia with the pastor, Reverend Karl Smith, officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia.

Mrs. Annie Belle Williams, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie B. and Mamie A. Stephens, was born January 31, 1936 in Worth County, Georgia.

Annie Bell gave her life to Christ at an early age, and joined the New Beulah Grove Baptist Church. She was educated in the Worth County Public School System, and graduated from Oak Hill High School.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Plaze Williams. This union was blessed with one child.

As a young adult, Annie Belle relocated from Sylvester to Trenton, New Jersey. In Trenton, she worked at the Labor and Industry Department and at the General Motors Assembly Plant. Later in life, Annie Bell relocated back to Georgia, and worked at Sears department store in Atlanta, Georgia. As the years went on, she moved back to Worth County and worked as a housekeeper until her retirement.

Mrs. Annie Belle Williams gave up this busy walk of life on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Phoebe Worth Medical Center in Sylvester, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings, Willie H. Stephens, Jimmy L. Stephens, John A. Stephens, her sister, Barbara F. Young, and one grandchild, April L. Perryman.

She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Gregory (Sonja) Williams of Moultrie, Georgia; a brother, Leroy Stephens of Doerun, Georgia; two sisters, Betty L. Stephens of Sylvester, Georgia, Kathy Stephens of Doerun, Georgia; two aunts, Ida B. Dixon, Mary L. Ford, both of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Calvin Perryman, Jaleesa Copeland, Brenda Williams, Gregory A. Williams; two great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

JACK BOYD

The funeral services for the late Mr. Jack Boyd of 604 S. Washington Street, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the First African Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia with the Reverend Donnie Ray Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden in Sylvester, Georgia.

Mr. Jack Boyd was born on June 11, 1931 to the late Mr. Willie Boyd and Mrs. Mattie Harris Powell in Worth County, Georgia.

He was educated in the Worth County Public School System at that time. At an early age, Jack gave his life to Christ and joined Pine Bluff Baptist Church.

Jack worked as a truck driver for Worth Milling Company.

On August 10, 1966, Jack was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Veola Peavy. This union was blessed with five children.

Jack made his transition from this earthly realm to eternal rest on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Veola P. Boyd; two daughters, Gwendolyn Thompson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Sharon (Bernard) Brewington of Oviedo, Florida; three sons, Roy Boyd of Albany, Georgia, Gregory (Monica) Peavy of Houston, Texas, Ronald (Rotunda) Boyd of Sylvester, Georgia; ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren; sisters, Daisy Washington of Orangeburg, New Jersey, Willie Mae Stephenson, Mary Helen Dye, Irma Jean Davis, all of Sylvester, Georgia; stepsister, Matie Moate of Sylvester, Georgia; brothers, Melvin Powell, Will Powell, both of Sylvester, Georgia; five sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta, a graduate of North Augusta High School and attended Georgia Tech. Mr. Baynham was a United States Air Force Fighter Pilot, a member of the Georgia Air National Guard, Savannah, GA, an Airline Captain with National and Pan American Airlines in Miami, FL and an employee of the DuPont Company at the Savannah River Site. After his retirement, Mr. Baynham moved to Woodside Plantation and was a member of Palmetto Golf Club, Aiken, SC. Mr. Baynham was the husband of the late Mrs. Nancy Fulmer Baynham and son of the late Mr. Hugh Gerald Baynham. Mrs. Flanders was a native of Cedartown, Georgia having made North Augusta her home for the past 50 years. She was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church and a graduate of the University of Georgia. Mrs. Flanders was the wife of the late Joe Allen Flanders, Jr.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe and C. C. Flanders, Martinez and Michael Flanders, Belvedere; two grandchildren, Joe W. Flanders, II and Marianne H. Flanders.
