CLARA SUE BUSH

Mrs. Clara Susan Lane Bush, 93, of Colquitt passed away Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Palmyra Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, at Colquitt United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Stewart and Rev. Floyd Mitchell officiating. Interment followed at Colquitt City Cemetery.
Al Davis, Chuck Davis, Taylor Bush, Lane Bush, Oliver Widner, and John Hagan served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Bush was born October 4, 1910 in Miller County. She was a homemaker and a member of Colquitt United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Kate Wilkin Sunday School Class holding a record of 12 years of Perfect attendance. Mrs Clara Sue was also a member of the Colquitt Garden Club, UMW, and attended the Miller County Senior Center. Mrs Clara Sue enjoyed playing the piano, making crafts, sewing, needle work and painting.
Mrs. Clara Sue’s survivors include two daughters, Edwina Thomley and Susan Grimsley and son -in-law, Larry of Colquitt; one son, J. O. “Spud” Bush and daughter-in-law, Pat of Colquitt; four sister-in-laws, Niza Lane and Helen Schrader both of Bainbridge, Agnes lane of Jacksonville, and Vera Budke of Lakeland Fl.; one brother-in-law, O. D. Bush of Chattanooga Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Janet Rountree, Sandra Hill, Al Davis, Chuck Davis, Patti Johnston, Taylor Bush, Lane Bush, Kim Widner, and Lori Hagan; twenty four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Bush, in 1995.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DAULTON BOWEN

Mr. Daulton Bowen, age 65 of Donalsonville died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at his residence.
Mr. Bowen was born in Miller County December 5, 1938. He attended Rocky Ridge Baptist Church where he was a deacon, where he taught the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, and he was the church treasurer. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and married the former Eloise Jenkins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Hearn and the Rev. Henry Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Flat Creek Cemetery in Miller County.
Pallbearers were Jerry Grimsley, Don Skeen, Gerald Garland, Chris Chambers, Robert Cleveland, and Mark Hawkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Bowen, Donalsonville; mother, Mrs. Myrtle Lewis Bowen, Donalsonville; one son, Keith and Jujuan Bowen, Donalsonville; one daughter, Brooke and Clay Thomas, Waycross; three grandchildren, Meagan and Clayton Bowen and Banner Thomas.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

COY C. WILLIAMS

Coy C. Williams, 74, of Donalsonville passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at the Donalsonville Hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville with the Reverend Kirk Loyless, Dr. Gary Smith and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment followed at Friendship Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Coy was born on March 14, 1929 in Jackson County, FL to the late Mr. Coy J. and Mrs. Eva Gertrude Shoemaker Williams. He graduated from Chipley High School in 1940 and attended Chipola Jr. College, where he was on their very first basketball team. He also attended FSU, and started little league baseball in Part St. Joe, FL. In addition, he was a lay speaker for the Methodist Church in Port St. Joe, FL and the Alabama/West Florida District.
In 1952, he married the former Gerry Alston. After moving to Donalsonville in 1963 and working as a foreman for Georgia Pacific for 25 years, Mr. Coy retired in 1988. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church where he loved and wholeheartedly supported the youth group and was a member of Dr. Walker's Sunday School Class. He supported the FL Boy's Ranch, Fl Sheriff's Association, and the GA Sheriff's Association.
Survivors include two children, Billy Coy and Becky Williams and Jan and James Taylor, all of Donalsonville; one brother, Kenneth and Frances Williams of Bell, FL; one sister, Trina and Hubert Richards of Port St. Joe, FL and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parent, his wife Gerry Williams; two sisters, Louise Trawick and Susie Lockhart; and one granddaughter, Nicole Taylor. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

MADGE IVEY RACHEL

Madge Ivery Rachel, 81, of Colquitt, formerly of Damascus, passed away January 25, 2004 in Miller County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Tony Mock officiating. Interment will follow in Tabb Cemetery.

Mrs. Rachel was born May 19, 1922 in Miller County. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Holiness Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Tucker of Albany; two sons, W.H. Rachel, Jr. of Albany and Cecil Rachel of Damascus; one brother, John Tabb of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Geneva Brannan of Jacksonville, FL and Patricia Colby of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

MATTIE LEE ETHREDGE

Mattie Lee Ethredge, 94, of Damascus, passed away January 22, 2004 at her residence.

Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, January 25, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. in Colquitt City Cemetery with the Reverend Robert Worsley officiating. Interment will follow in Colquitt City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim Worsley, Ben Worsley, Sam Worsley, John Gunn, Ricky Dowdy and John Gaines.

Mrs. Ethredge was born October 30, 1909 in Baker County. She was a member of Harmony Methodist Church and taught school in the Baker County and Miller County School system.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sherrer and Juan Richardson of Damascus; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

JESSIE MAE WIDNER KIRKLAND

Jessie Mae Widner Kirkland, 76, of Blakely, passed away January 23, 2004.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Fussell officiating. Interment will follow at George Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Turner, Jim Durham, Mark Powell, Michael Powell, Nick Jones and Jerry Lurie.

Mrs. Widner Kirkland was born May 5, 1927 in Miller County to the late Sam Ealy Widner and the late Addie Gray Widner. She was a dietician at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt and was a member of the Blakely First Assembly of God church.

Survivors include one son, Wayne Powell and wife Julie of Columbus; one daughter, Edith Bryant and husband George of Albany, two sisters, Irene West of Colquitt and Dorothy McCorkle of Bainbridge; one brother, Sam Widner of Ozark, AL; five grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Williams Carey Powell and Paul William Kirkland.

Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

BARBARA MILLS ARMSTRONG

Barbara Mills Armstrong, 85, of Donalsonville, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2004 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Donalsonville on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville.

Ms. Barbara was born on June 21, 1918 in Shorterville, AL, to the late Alex and Mary Pinney Mills.

She has lived in Donalsonville since the mid 1940s where she and her husband, the late MR. Robert P. Armstrong, raised their two children. Ms. Barbara was a nurse, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Donalsonville. She was a member of the Jubilee's, Mature Adult Sunday School Class, and she could almost always be seen at the Senior Citizens Center, where she worked in many areas.

Survivors include one son, Robert Kenneth and his wife Phyllis Armstrong; one daughter, Mary Angela and her husband Rodney Suggs; five grandchildren, Djuana and Tom Rinehart, Traci and Terry Evans, Adam and Patty Armstrong, Klay Armstrong and Kevin Suggs; and seven great-grandchildren. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

REBECCA GRIFFIN McCOOK

Rebecca Griffin McCook, 60, of Cuthbert, passed away Monday, January 19, 2004 at Patterson Hospital in Cuthbert.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Shellman with the Revs. Olin Johnson and Hal Lassiter officiating. Internment followed in New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery near Cuthbert.

Mrs. McCook was born September 5, 1943, in Grady County, daughter of the late Seaborn Georgia Griffin and Louise Mitchell Griffin. She attended First Baptist Church of Shellman and was a technology clerk for Randolph County Elementary School.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas E. McCook of Cuthbert; two daughters, Terri and Tommy Nichols of Shellman and Merri and Allan Blount of Huntingdon, TN; two sons, Tommy and Lori McCook of Shellman and Tony and Tricia McCook of Morris; four sisters, Ethlyn and Bud West of Hartsville, Ella and Milton Phillips of Colquitt, Joan and Ben Long of Bainbridge and Dianne and Andrew Gibson of Ocilla; a brother-in-law, Billy Williams of Colquitt and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, DeWayne Boyd and a sister, Mary Williams.

Lunsford Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

SHELLY A. HUNT

Shelly A. Hunt, 89, of Adel, passed away February 10, 2004 at Memorial Hospital of Adel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Buckholts and Rev. Roscoe Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Billy Welch, Glenn McMillan, David Hunt, Shawn Lewis, Christopher Welch and Greg Lockyear.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy J. Welch, Glenn McMillan, Jr., David Hunt, Jr., Lee McMillan and David Welch.

Mr. Hunt was born May 28, 1914 in Ashford, AL. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel Welch Hunt of Adel; eight sons, Billy Welch and Ray Hunt of Adel, Bobby Hunt of Waycross, David Hunt and Jerry Hunt of Colquitt, Loyce Hunt and Royce Hunt of Dothan, AL and Wayne Hunt of Arlington, TX; four daughters, Brenda Lewis and Donna Hunt of Adel and Debbie McMillan and Norma McMillan of Colquitt; one sister, Mertie H. Miller of Bainbridge; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Homer Hunt and Emma Smith Hunt.

Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

ROYLE R. ADAMS

Royle R. Adams, age 72, of Jakin passed away Thursday, February 5, 2004 at the Medical Center in Dothan, AL.
Funeral services were held at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville on Monday, February 9, 2004 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Calvin Arnold officiating. Interment followed at Bethel Cemetery in Early County.
Mr. Adams was born March 17, 1931 in Chipley, FL to the late Rufus Horace and Maggie Ballard Adams. He married Betty J. Cannon on June 5, 1952. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the military, where he earned the rank of Major. He and Mrs. Betty have lived in Jakin for the past 26 years, after moving back here form Ft. Lauderdale, FL Mr. Adams was a member of the Shriners while living in Ft. Lauderdale.
Mr. Adams leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Berry J. Adams of Jakin; one son, Michael L. Adams and his wife Linda D. Adams of Donalsonville; one daughter, Cynthia A. Ingram and her husband William W. Ingram of Dothan, AL; one brother, Donald L. Adams and his wife Judy Adams of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Nita Norris of Lubbock, TX; two grandsons, Kyle V. Adams and Brandon L. Adams. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Carey Cannon, Jake Cannon, Gaston Cannon, Jr., Ronnie Ingram, Alan Ingram and Victor Cannon. Honorary pallbearer Rudolph Reese.
Evan-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

CHRISTOPHER PHILLIP WILLIAMS

Christopher P. Williams, 45, of 144 Stadium Drive, Camilla died Saturday, February 07, 2004 at his residence.
Graveside funeral services was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 9 at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Rev. Danny Thomas officiated.
Born September 5, 1958 in Napa, California, Mr. Williams was a medical lab technician. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Camilla.
Survivors include his parents, Wayne and Evelyn Williams of Camilla; two brothers, Nicky Williams of Baconton and Mike Williams of Camilla; and two nephews.
Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

HENRY CECIL HILL

Mr. Henry Cecil Hill, 82, formerly of Donalsonville, now residing at the Bainbridge Manor, in Bainbridge passed away on February 6, 2004.
A graveside service was held on Sunday, February 8, 2004 at 3:00 PM EST with the Rev. Luther Hastey officiating.
Mr. Cecil was born in Dooly County on September 7, 1021 to the late James Addison and Annie Mae Edwards Hill. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, receiving a Purple Heart. He married Judy Roberts, who preceded him in death in 1988. He worked for Three Notch Electric Membership Corporation for 39 Years. He retired from there March 10, 1987. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #83, an avid fisherman, and a true fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Donalsonville.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Jimmie Cecil Hill and his wife Dr. Karen Burke Hill of Climax; a daughter Ann Hill Musgrove and her husband Clifford "Bo" Musgrove of the Sink Creek Community in Marianna, FL; a brother-in-law, Melvin D. Porter of San Antonio, TX; a special "bud", Judy Phillips; four grandsons, Alan and J.P. Musgrove of Pace, FL., David Musgrove of the University of West FL in Pensacola, FL, Jeff Wilson of Bainbridge, and Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy Roberts Hill, a brother Ad Hill and a sister Mattie Lou Roberts.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge #83 and Buddy Reese. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
