WAVA LEE NIX

Mrs. Wava Lee Nix, age 82, of Iron City died Sunday, September 10, 2006, at her residence.
Mrs. Nix was born February 11, 1924, in Miller County. She was a member of Iron City Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jason Minter officiating. Interment followed at 2:00 p.m. at Floral Memory Gardens in Albany.
Pallbearers were Hank Tyler, Chuck Ulm, Charles Ulm, Baughn Jenkins, Wes Dozier, and Bennie Johnson.
Survivors include her husband, W.R. Nix, Iron City; one daughter, Charlotte (Ray) Burnfun, Lafayette; two grandsons, Neil Burnfin, McDonough, and Ryan Burnfin, Lafayette; and two great-grandchildren.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DOROTHY ANN FULGHUM CHRISTMAS

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Fulghum Christmas, age 64, of Colquitt died Friday, September 8, 2006, at her residence.
Mrs. Christmas was born April 10, 1942, in Mitchell County. She was a certified nursing assistant.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
Survivors include four daughters, Lisa Christmas, Navarre, FL, Rebecca Watford, Abbeville, AL, Barbara Karlson, Baltimore, MD, Shannon Grier, Colquitt; three sons, Elbert James Christmas, Ocala, FL, Patrick J. Christmas, Teresa, Old Town, FL, and Tracy Len Christmas, Chipley, FL; six sisters, Hilda Mikel, Moultrie, Gail Hammack, Albany, Eva McLeod, Sale City, Janice Milner, Moultrie, Dinah Brown, Pelham, and Paula Spurlin; three brothers, Russell Fulghum, Thomasville, Clayton Fulghum, Navarre, FL, and Greg Fulghum, Albany; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

HENRY CLARENCE OWENS

Mr. Henry Clarence Owens, 80, of Colquitt, passed away September 4, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Owens was born March 15, 1926, in Decatur County. He was a retired diesel/heavy equipment mechanic and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 7, at 2 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Turner officiating. Interment followed at Mothers Home Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeffery Givens, Jason Clenney, John Harris, Roger Harris, Jack Harris, Glen Owens, and Gaylon Harrell.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Owens of Colquitt; one daughter, Brenda (Johnny) Cook of Albany; two grandchildren, Devin (Melody) Cook and Krista (Ashley) Sheffield; three great-grandchildren, Porshia Sheffield, A J Sheffield,and Jacob Cook; two brothers, J. E. Owens of Palatka, FL, and William “Bill” Owens of Sasser; and four sisters, Ollie Holt of Colquitt, Mary McGuire of Albany, Martha Harris of Dawson, and Rose Givens of Bainbridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Martha Owens and one brother, Earlie Owens.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

KEVIN LEE RITTER

Mr. Kevin Lee Ritter, 36, of Bainbridge passed away Monday, September 4, 2006, in Decatur County.
Mr. Ritter was born April 17, 1970, in Macon. He was a carpenter.
Funeral services were Friday Sept. 8, at Attapulgus Church of God with Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Peyton Phelps, Ben Lambert, Barry Cook, Chance Bradley, Robert Earl Clinton and Edward Connell.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Jeanine Reyes Ritter; daughter, Josey Mae Ritter of Bainbridge; sons, Jonathan Reyes Reed and Justin Lee Ritter, both of Bainbridge; sisters, Tabitha Lynn Ritter, Mexico Beach, FL, Verna Leah Ritter of Bainbridge, and Brandy Nicole Johnson of Bainbridge; brothers, John David King, Jr. of Mexico Beach, FL, Dustin Wade King of Lake Seminole and James Danny King of Bainbridge; and his parents Vernon Lee Ritter and Marie Addison and stepmothers Delores Ritter and Theresa Lynn Franklin. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cox Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

CHARLES WILLIS SPOONER

Charles Willis Spooner, 62, of Bainbridge, died Friday, September 1, 2006, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 6, at 1:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Williamson officiating. Interment followed in Cool Spring Cemetery in Faceville.
Pallbearers were Phillip Kelly, Waymon Womble, Roy Phillips, Robert Odom, Jimmy Merkison, and Dennis Medley. Honorary pallbearers were the Decatur County Road Department.
Mr. Spooner was born January 26, 1944, in Decatur County, where he lived all his life. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a dump truck driver for the Decatur County Road Department.
Survivors include two sisters, Jackie Luloff of Pelham and Alawayne Cartwright of Ft. Myers, FL; one brother, William H. Spooner of Valdosta; one uncle, Frank Spooner of Bainrbridge; and one aunt, Lola Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Crosby Spooner; and his parents, Horace Herny and Vernese Lashley Spooner.
Cox Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DAVID COOK RICHARDSON

Mr. David Cook Richardson, age 58 of Colquitt died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Richardson was born September 15, 1947 in Miller County. He was a member of Kimbrel Chapel Church of God.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Fletcher Sheffield officiating. Interment followed in Gordon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Bryant, Chad Ryan, Chris Shelley, Chance Cook, L.T. Cox and David Richardson.
Survivors include one sister, Leona Porter, Sylvester; one brother, Herbert (Ruby) Richardson, Americus; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Richardson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Alice ichardson, two sisters, Nancy Anne Richardson, Mary Hatcher, two brothes, Louis Richardson and Perry Richadson.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

JERRY W. BOSHELL SR.

Mr. Jerry W. Boshell Sr., 63 of Colquitt, passed away Thursday July 13 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Boshell was born in Gasden, AL and lived many years in the Birmingham area. He was a retired electrician after 40 years of service in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert W. Boshell and Mary Ellen Boshell of Alabama.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Moore Boshell of Colquitt; a brother Clarence Boshell of Anniston, AL; a sister-in-law Linda Cobb of Colquitt; a brother-in-law Randy Johnson and wife Brenda of Brinson, a brother-in-law Donald Johnson and wife Dana of Jacksonville, FL. One daughter Denisa Pridmore and husband Roger, two sons Wayne Boshell and Robert Boshell and wife Ranee, all of Alabama. He has four grandchildren all of Alabama.
Mr. Boshell has one step-daugher Rhonda Moore Atkinson, three stepsons Larry Moore and wife Diana, Wayne Moore and wife Kim, and Scott Moore all of Colquitt. Seven step grandchildren of Colquitt, two great-step grandchildren of St. Petersburg, FL.
Funeral service was held Monday July 17 at Bell Funeral Home in Forestdale, AL with burial in Forestcrest Cemetery in Rondale, AL.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

LOUISE PHILLIP HAMMOND

Ms. Louise Phillip Hammond, 72 of Colquitt, passed away July 17 in Orlando, FL. Ms. Hammond was born April 17, 1934 in Early County. She was a secretary and book keeper. Ms. Hammond was a avid bowler and was active in various leagues in the area. She will always be remembered by those close to her for her needle crafts and her excellent cooking.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 21 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel and Interment followed at Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Glenda and husband Elmer Wheeler of Fruitland Park, FL.; Two sons, Leo and wife Kay of Kerrville, TX; and Mark Hammond and wife Christy of Clinton, TN.; one brother Johnny Phillips of Damascus; two sisters Lois Holt of Colquitt and Doris Chandler of Winter Springs, FL.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

FRANKLIN LEE BARRON JR

Mr. Franklin Lee Barron Jr., 43, of Blakely died Wednesday, July 12, 2006.
Mr. Barron was born August 20, 1962, in Early County to Franklin Lee Barron Sr. and Beverly Steel Hill. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and was a welder. He spent most of his life in Early County.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 15, at the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Williams and Rev. C.B. Dowdney officiating. Interment followed at Cross Road Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Henry Barron of Blakely; two sons, Christopher Barron and wife Amber of Childerburg, AL, and Neil Lumpkin of Blakely; stepmother, Regenia McDowell Barron of Damascus; his parents; three brothers; Scott Barron and wife Tammy of Tuscaloosa, AL; Mac Barron and wife Katherine of Swainsboro; Jeff Barron and wife Christy of Buchanan; two sisters Donna Barron of Alexander City, AL; Denise McDowell and husband Rob of Marietta and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Eddie McDowell, Heath McDowell, Michael Sears, Wendal Parker, Steven Bush, Greg Floyd, and Cleve McFay. Honorary pallbearers were the Bread of Life Sunday School Class from Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DAUPHIS WAYNE BUCKHALTER

Mr. Dauphis Wayne Buckhalter, age 69, of Ft. Gaines died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Ft. Gaines Nursing Home. Mr. Buckhalter was born November 29, 1936, in Seminole County. Graveside services were held Thursday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Springfield Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Anderson officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Robinson, Cumming, and Tracie Lee, Tallahassee, FL; one son, Travis Buckhalter, Jakin; his mother, Eunice Jewel Regan; two sisters, Lorriane and Ralph Cook, Albany, Janice Bradshaw, Monroe; two brothers, Phil Buckhalter, J.V. Buckhalter, Jakin; and three grandchildren.
Manry-Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

ADDIE E. BARBER

Mrs. Addie E. Barber, age 86, of Brinson died Monday, July 10, 2006, at Donalsonville Hospital.
Mrs. Barber was born in Seminole County on May 22, 1920, to the late Willie and Hattie Clarke Everett. She was of the Baptist faith, a homemaker and will be remembered as working with her son, Will, at the flower shop.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Brinson with Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bruce Barber, Russell Barber, Kevin Fricks, Randy Babrer, Steve Shores, and Roger Edmunds.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Barber, Jackson, AL, James Barber and wife, Judy, Brinson, Billy Barber and wife, Connie, Iron City, and Will Barber, Donalsonville; one sister, Grace Kirkland and husband, Felix, St. Petersburg, FL; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Barber, her parents, two brothers, Eugene Everett and Watson Everett and one sister, Hattie Ree Shores. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

RAYMOND SMITH

Raymond Smith, 79, of Bainbridge, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Bainbridge Healthcare in Bainbridge.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge with Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment followed at West Bainbridge Cemetery in Bainbridge.
Mr. Smith was born February 3, 1927, in Miller County and was a retired farmer. He was preceded by his wife, Pauline Johnson Smith.
Survivors include five sons, Raymond Smith, Jr. and wife Carol of Donalsonville, Marshall Smith, David Smith, and Carl Smith, all of Bainbridge, and James Smith of Brinson; one daughter, Lynda S. Bergeron and husband Richard of Bainbridge; and four grandchildren, Travis Taylor, Renee Smith, Brantley Smith, and Meghan Bergeron.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
