SARINCE E. COOK JR.

Mr. Sarince E. Cook Jr., 77, of Colquitt, Ga passed away October 31, 2006 at his son’s residence. The visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Colquitt Funeral Home. The funeral will be 3 PM Friday, November 3, 2006 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fletcher Sheffield and Rev. Joe Romigh officiating. Marty Phillips, Stanley Williams, Guy Heard, Luke Cook, Chance Cook, Isreal Houston, Roy Myrick, and Michael Middleton will serve as pallbearers. The interment will follow at Cooks Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Cook was born April 24, 1929 in Baker County. He was a retired farmer, a member of Kimbrel Chapel Church of God, and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Luke) Clearman of Colquitt; one son, Steve (Vivian) Cook of Colquitt; one brother, Terry Cook of Colquitt; one sister, Frankie Phillips of Colquitt; four grandchildren, Stephanie McLain, Shelley Middleton, Stamey Myrick, and Lindsey Houston; and eight great-grandchildren, Nicolette Holt, Logan Holt, Harlie Middleton, Makaylie Middleton, Lillie Middleton, Maggie Grace Myrick, Anna Kate Houston, and Grant McLain. He was preceded in death by wife, Haudell Cook; five brothers, Lowell Cook, Aubrey Cook, Melvin Cook, Louis Cook, and Bob Cook; and two sisters, Annette Heard and Jeanette Scott.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

MARCIA FLOYD WORSLEY
Mrs. Marcia Floyd Worsley, 64, of Colquitt, Ga passed away November 5, 2006 at her residence. The visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday evening November 6, 2006 at Colquitt Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11 AM Tuesday November 7, 2006 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Worsley officiating. Interment will follow at New Salem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Wiregrass Hospice.
Mrs. Worsley was born November 22, 1941 in Dougherty County. She was retired from Medical Records at Donalsonville Hospital in Donalsonville, Ga. and a member of New Salem Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Talmadge Worsley of Colquitt; two sons, Patrick (Cindy) Worsley of Donalsonville & Mark (Roxanne) Worsley of Branford Fl.; mother, Helen Floyd of Colquitt; two brothers, Calvin (Nan) Floyd of Cusseta, Ga and Phillip (Sheila) Floyd of Jacksonville, Fl.; and five grandchildren, Leigh Middleton, Lance Middleton, Michelle (Brian) Henry, Drew Worsley, and Amanda Worsley. She was preceded by her father Calvin Floyd.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

SHELBY JEAN POWELL CARTER

Shelby Jean Powell Carter, 69, of Albany, formerly of Colquitt died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Phoebe Putney Hospital. Her funeral service will be 4 PM Monday, November 6, 2006 at Bellview Freewill Baptist Church in Miller County, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. A native of Bainbridge, Mrs. Carter had lived in Colquitt before moving to Albany. She was a member of Bellview Freewill Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. The loves of her life were that of her daughter, son in law and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lucille Mason Powell, her husband, Jimmy C. Carter and a brother-in-law, Jim Doss. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Carter Coleman and her husband Tommy; 2 grandchildren: Kayla Renee Coleman and Marshall Thomas Coleman, all of Albany; her brother Raymond Powell and his wife Gail, of Bainbridge; her sister Janice Powell Doss of Panama City FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 5, 2006, 6 PM to 8 PM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors in Albany.
Kimbrell-Stern was in charge of the arrangements.

AUBREY COOK

Mr. Aubrey Cook, 67, of Colquitt, GA passed away March 11, 2006 at his residence. The visitation will be Sunday, March 12, 2006 from 7 til 9:00 P.M. at Colquitt Funeral Home. The funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 13, 2006 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fletcher Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow at Cooks Cemetery.
Mr. Cook was born September 23, 1938 in Baker Co., GA. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Kimbrel Chapel Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Cook of Colquitt; three sons, Lamar Cook, Aubrey LaDon Cook, and Michael Phillips, all of Colquitt; two daughters, Cindy Stewart and Thressie Lane, both of Colquitt; two brothers, Terry Cook and Sarince E. Cook, Jr., both of Colquitt; one sister, Frankie Phillips of Colquitt; and nine grandchildren, Ross Matthew Cook, Leagh Bailey, Zachary Langley, Alex Langley, Vickie Blocker, Sutton Phillips, Haley Mathis, Jack Mathis, and Elizabeth Carter. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lore Phillips Cook.

TRAVIS SMITH

Mr. Travis Oliver Smith, 64, of Colquitt, Ga passed away March 10, 2006 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The visitation will be Saturday, March 11, 2006 from 8 til 10:00 P.M. at Colquitt Funeral Home. The funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 12, 2006 at New Hope Worship Assembly in Donalsonville with Rev. Charles Barineau officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born May 9, 1941, Seminole Co., GA He was retired from Sunbelt Equipment Company and a charter member of New Hope Worship Assembly. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Smith of Colquitt; two sons & daughters-in-law, Lyndon & Donna Smith of Colquitt and Patrick & Christine Smith of Kennesaw, GA; one daughter & son-in-law, Sharon & Dr. David Swearingain of Donalsonville; one brother, Bobby Smith & wife Carolyn of Colquitt; one sister, Phyllis Regan & husband Robert of Iron City, GA; and five grandchildren, Phillips Swearigain, Beth Swearingain, Colby Smith, Taylor Smith and Marina Smith.

ALMA CLARICE SHEFFIELD
November 19, 1916 - March 10, 2006
Mrs. Alma Clarice Sheffield, 89, of Colquitt, GA passed away March 10, 2006 at Miller County Hospital. The visitation will be Saturday, March 11, 2006 from 6 til 8:00 P.M. at Colquitt Funeral Home. The funeral will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Mills officiating. R. D. Franklin, Rodney Phillips, Don Haire, Richard Calhoun, Rodney Bryan, and Dole Cook Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery.
Mrs. Sheffield was born November 19, 1916 in Worth Co. GA She was a homemaker and a member of Cooks Union Methodist Church. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie & Joyce Sheffield and Fletcher & Margaret Sheffield, both of Colquitt; six sisters, Martha Hardy of Colquitt, Katy Frazier of Covington, GA, Sara Thompson of Oroville, CA, Katrina Jones of Donalsonville, GA, Edith Fynbu of Lincoln, NE, and Alice Dixon of Kingston Springs, TN; two brothers, Maurice Chapman of Colquitt and John Chapman of Arab, AL; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Sheffield, and one brother, Curtis Chapman.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

RAE DAWN PICKREN

Rae Dawn Pickren, age 42 of Colquitt died Tuesday, march 7, 2006 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Pickren was born August 2, 1963 in Houston County, AL. She was a peanut inspector with Federal State Inspection Service, a member of the National Humane Society and was of the Baptist faith.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Lewis and the Rev. Tommy Long officiating. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Andy Moore, John T. Bailey, Jeff Cox, Jason Cox, Brad Lambert, and Eric Lambert.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Pickren, Colquitt; her parents, Gerald and Jerrie Cook, Colquitt; two sisters, Karen Cook, Colquitt, Melissa Brock, Bainbridge; grandmother, Callie Mae Maddox, Colquitt; five nieces and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Lee Adams.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

EDGAR HENRY

Edgar Henry, 75, of Donalsonville died Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Donalsonville Hospital.
The funeral was at 3 p.m. August 10, 2006 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with interment in COlquitt City Cemetery. The Rev. Milford Stanley officiated.
Born August 20, 1930, in Miller County, Mr. Henry was a retired shop manager at Ichauway Plantation and a member of Harmony Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Henry of Donalsonville; four sons, Marlton Henry of Adelanto, CA, Jerome (Dana) Henry of Bainbridge, Perry (Sharon) Henry of Bainbridge and Franklin (Suzette) Campbell of Leary; one daughter Denise Cater of Savannah; one sister, Jessie Mae Draper of Colquitt; seven grandchildren, Steven Cater, Phillip Cater, Rebekah Cater, Sarah Cater, Kaleb Henry, Chelsea Henry and Mackenzie Campbell.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

WALTER NELSON

Walter “Scully” Nelson, 60, of Newton, died July 28, 2006.
Mr. Nelson was born February 26, 1946, in Newton, to the late Mr. Leon “Dee” Nelson and Ruth Washington Nelson. He worked as a landscaper for Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, until his illness and was a member of Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Dawson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Lucious Mitchell officiating. Interment followed in New Hope Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tervino Jordan, Joshua Williams, Andrea Girant, Artavia Wright, Travis Nelson, and Rodriquez Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were Jones Cook, Darius Peterson, Adrian Peterson, Brandon Peterson, Christopher Nelson, and Derrick Peterson.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Dupont Nelson; three daughters, Sonya Nelson of Amityville, NY, Latrina (Frederick) Hill of Raleigh, NC, Ronka Nelson of Copiaque, NY; one son, Ricky (Michelle) Green of Albany; three sisters, Ruth L. (John) Glover of Mulberry, FL, Bettye (Sylvester) Williams of Lake Hamilton, FL, Fannie (Nehemiah) Benton of Tampa, FL; two brothers, Oneal (Johnnie) Nelson Sr. of Haines City, FL, and Joe (Eldora) Riggins of Fort Lauderdale, FL; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Jessica, Ricky Jr., Christopher, Taylor-Monique, Marteen, Maxeen, and Terrence; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Williams’ Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

JAMES RALPH HORNE

Mr. James Ralph Horne, 86, of Iron City, passed away Monday, July 31, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Horne was born in Seminole County on December 11, 1919, to the late Horace Hardy and Ada Lee Harlow Horne. He was a retired farmer, a member of Unity Church of God in Iron City and had lived in Seminole County all of his life.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 2, at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville with the Rev. Eric Boomer and Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Edward Horne; one great-grandson, Robbie Sinquefield; and one sister, Virginia Grubbs.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Love Horne, of Iron City; one son, Larry Horne and his wife Suki of Tallahassee, FL, two daughters, Shirley Lynn and her husband Montague of Panama City, FL and Juanita Sinquefield and her husband Bobby of Iron City; one brother, Hardy Horne and his wife Marilyn of Iron City; and two sisters, Joyce McLaughlin and Eloyce Goocher and her husband Lamar, all of Donalsonville. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were Kevin Enfinger, Herman Enfinger, Robert Scott, Carl Scott, Quinn Smith and Wes Doizer.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DICIE COWART

Mrs. Dicie Cowart age 103, died Sunday, August 6, 2006.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Colquitt. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Church Cemetery.

ROBERT D. WHATLEY

Mr. Robert D. Whatley, 88, of Albany died August 4, 2006.
Mr. Whatley was a native of Henry County, Alabama, and had resided in Albany for the past 55 years, moving from Miller County. He was a retired truck driver with the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 8, at 11:00 a.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church in Albany with the Rev. Billy Hanna and Larry Whatley officiating. Interment followed at 3:00 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church in Miller County.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Whatley and his wife, Rachel, Leesburg, Lester Whatley, Leesburg, Scott Whatley and his wife, Lisa, Auburn; one daughter, Jane Palmer and husband, Riley, Sasser; son-in-law, Chuck McCue, Albany; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

LINDA JEAN SHOEMAKER

Linda Jean Shoemaker, 53, of Colquitt, Ga passed away on May 6, 2006 at Miller County Hospital. The visitation will be on Sunday, May 7, 2006, from 7-9:00 PM at Colquitt Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 4:00 PM Monday, May 8, 2006 at Colquitt United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Romigh officiating. Interment will follow at New Home Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Shoemaker was born on November 19, 1953 in Cincinnati, Oh.She worked in the Laundry Division at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Oh. And was a member of Colquitt United Methodist Church. She is survived by her three sisters, Connie McNease of Donalsonville, Ga, Judy Brewer of Blakely, Ga, and Tami Durcan of Dayton, Oh; one brother, Steve Payne of Worthington, Oh; and several nieces & nephews.

FLORRIE BELL BROWN GUERRANT

Mrs. Florrie Bell Brown Guerrant, 88, of Columbus passed away Thursday, October 5, 2006, in Muscogee Manor Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Guerrant was born April 10, 1918, in Early County and was a textile worker with Swift Textile’s in Columbus. She was a member of Boykin Church of God.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 8, at Boykin Church of God with Brother Joel Longshore officiating. Interment followed at Boykin Church of God Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Ronnie Brown and (Vickie) of Fortson; two brothers, Aubrey Haywood and (Nell) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Linns Haywood of South Gate, California; three grandchildren, Scooter Brown, Ryan Brown, and Christi Frazier. She was preceded in death by her husbands, T.W. Brown who died on February 8, 1959, and Edward Guerrant, who died on May 3, 1991.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

FLARRIE MAE ALBRITTON

Mrs. Flarrie Mae Albritton, 91, of Colquitt, passed away on Thrusday, October 5, 2006, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville.
Mrs. Albritton was born in Early County on November 30, 1914, to the late Will Snell and Nora White Snell. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Donalsonville Church of God. Her husband, Charlie E. Albritton, preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Albritton were held Saturday, October 7, at the Donalsonville Church of God with the Rev. Stan Long and Rev. Joe Tatum officating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville.
She is survived by three sons, Edward and Joyce Albritton of Donalsonville; Charles and Susie Albritton of Albany; and Ray and Katherine Albritton of Colquitt. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Adams, Greg Broxton, Bill Moody, Darius Moss, Ricky Smith and Ricky Ward.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DOROTHY LOVETT MILLER

Mrs. Dorothy Lovett Miller of Harriman, TN, formerly of Colquitt died September 22, 2006.
Survivors include five children, several grandchildren, a sister, Sue Robinson, and a brother, Aaron Lovett, both of Albany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Miller.
