Lucy Sellars
Lucy Sellars, 74, of Collins died Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. She was a native of Bulloch County and resided in Tattnall County for most of her life.
She is survived by two sons, Melvin Sellars of Metter and Tony Sellars of Brunswick; three daughters, Lucille Jackson of Collins, Carolyn Rock of Metter and Emma Jean Vann of Cobbtown; one brother, Felton McGirt of Ellabell; three sisters, Viola Andrews and Frances Brown, both of Cobbtown and Mary Lee Rawls of Statesboro; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 12, at the W.H. Whitaker Memorial Chapel, Whitaker Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cone Family Cemetery in Guyton.
Whitaker Funeral Home of Metter was in charge of arrangements.

Stacia Marie Couture Smith
Stacia Marie Couture Smith, 41, of Metter died on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband Tommy C. Smith of Metter; sons, Tommy C. Smith Jr. and Timmy C. Smith, both of Metter, and Kyle Sibley of Atlanta; one daughter, Jennifer Sibley of Atlanta; her mother, Janet Davis of Metter; her father, Francis McDaniel of Jesup; one brother, Frank McDaniel of Marietta; and a sister, Cecilia Corso of Jesup.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of Wood Funeral Home, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Wood Funeral Home of Metter was in charge of arrangements.

Maggie Lanier Spivey
Maggie Lanier Spivey, 89, died Monday, December 20, 2004 at her home. The Candler County native and lifelong resident was a retired school teacher in the Candler County School system. She was a member of the Metter Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her husband, William C. Spivey and a son, George Z. Spivey.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Harrell of Decatur; a daughter-in-law, Tina Spivey; a brother, William L. Lanier of Metter; five sisters, Mattie Lanier of Metter; Margie Brown of Baxley, Myrtice Lanier of Alma, Mary Lanier of Athens and Marie Kemp of Savannah; three grandchildren, Jill S. Pennington, Will Harrell and Travis Spivey; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Metter Presbyterian Church.
Remembrances can be made to the Metter Presbyterian Church, c/o J. Paul Howard, Rt. 2 Box 25H, Metter, GA 30439 or Southern Care Hospice.

Lyman Powell
Lyman Powell, 90, of Metter died on December 14, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. He was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Kirkland Powell and a daughter, Carolyn Powell.
He is survived by a son, Frank Powell of Fountain Inn, S.C.; sisters, Ruby Wilson of Fountain Inn, S.C. and Inez Jones of Greenwood, S.C.; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Burial was in Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Sikes, Ronald Cardell, Hubert Crooms, Larry Sikes, Remer McGowan, Don Braswell, Eddie Jones and Dean Crooms.
Wood Funeral Home of Metter was in charge of arrangements.

Louis Van 'L.V.' Strange
Louis Van “L.V.” Strange, 79, died Sunday, December 19, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savanah. He was born in Candler county and was a retired Life of Georgia Insurance agent. After retirement he returned to farming and raising cattle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Manuel Strange, and a brother, Herman Strange Sr.
He is survived by a brother, Wendell Strange; two sisters, Christine Holland and Betty Durden; a devoted nephew, Allen Strange, all of Cobbtown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today) at 11 a.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Elder John Sheldon Mikell officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Herman Strange Jr., Randy Strange, Wayne Strange, Andy Strange, Louis Holland and Charles Holland.

Ernest Mosley
Ernest Mosley, 77, of Lyons died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was a native of Evans County residing in Lyons since 1955. He was a retired auto salesman from Metter Ford and was a veteran of U.S. Army Air Corp serving in the South Pacific Theatre in World War II. He was a 50-year member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #32 F&AM, past high priest of Sinai Chapter #30 Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Master of Omega Council #26, Royal and Select Masters, a member of Palestine Commandry #7, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Savannah, Herman E. Freeman #186 York Rite College, Alee Shriners of Savannah, Past President of Quint Shrine Club, Lyons, a 50-year member and Worthy Patron of Toombs Chapter #546 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Grand Royal Patron of the Grand Court of Georgia Order of the Amaranth, 50-year member and Prelate of Georgia Court #1, Savannah, a member of Bethlehem Shrine of Jerusalem #4, a charter member and past governor of Vidalia, Lyons Loyal Order of the Moose and a member of the Moose Legion. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Adult Sunday Schoool and Senior Saints serving as a faithful Christian member. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brother and five sisters.
He is survived by one special niece, Wanda Williams Smith of Lyons; two special nephews, James L. Smith and Eric C. Smith, both of Lyons; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 12 from Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Don Gibbs officiating. Interment followed in Old Anderson Cemetery near Collins.
Pallbearers were Gilbert Sikes, Randall Query, Eddie Kight, Marty Zorn and Jody Rowe. Honorary pallbearers were The Order of The Amaranth, Alee Shriners, Ladies Auxiliary, Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Donations can be made to Georgia Diabetes Research Foundation at 1211 Whispering Pines Road, Albany, GA 31707.
Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Vidalia was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Teccola Parrish Holloway
Teccola Parrish Holloway, 82, died Sunday at Candler County Hospital after an extended illness. The Bulloch County native had been a resident of Candler County for most of her life. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Pulaski.
She is survived by her husband, Percy Holloway of Metter; one son, Bobby Holloway of Metter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Joe Collins of Augusta; Levon and Stacey Dekle of Metter; one brother, Lonnie Parrish of Metter; two sisters, Alice Byrd of Miami, FL and Lottie Parrish of Cambria Heights, NY; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 31, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Whitaker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Terrence “Terry” Joseph O’Regan Sr.
Terrence “Terry” Joseph O’Regan Sr., 76, died at Flagler Hospital after a serious illness. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Hallford and a son-in-law, Jim Hallford.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma Ryan O’Regan of St. Augustine; daughters and son-in-law, Sharon O’Regan of Jacksonville, FL, Debbie Hallford of Metter, and Walt and Michelle Johnson of Atlantic Beach, FL; one son, Terry O’Regan Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass was held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with burial in Chapel Hills Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.

Letha Belle Collins Odom
Letha Belle Collins Odom, 86, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at Metter Nursing Home. The Evans County native had lived in Candler County for the past 51 years. She was a homemaker and well-known for her southern hospitality and famous pound cakes. Mrs. Odom was a member of Metter Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver O’Neal Odom; a daughter, Glenda Odom, a brother, Buford Collins; and a sister, Betty Sue Whiteside.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Marolyn Odom of Waynes-boro, Gene and Sandra Odom, Bobby and Elaine Odom, all of Metter; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gynette and Howard DeLoach of Shellman Bluff and Msgt. Geraldine “Dixie” Odom, USAF retired, of Metter; sisters, Lynette Schoenwalder of Jacksonville, N.C., Lucille Burns of Grammercy, LA, Elise Shook of Ft. Worth, TX and Mary Collins of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Brother James McCray officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Remembrances can be made to Jehovah Witness Building Fund, P.O. Box 1462, Reidsville, GA 30453.

Myrtle DeLoach Everett
Myrtle DeLoach Everett, 91, died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Hospice Savannah. The Bryan County native lived most of her life in Candler County. She began her teaching career in Register and later taught in Twin City and Pembroke where she met her future husband at a faculty dance. After 36 years of teaching, she retired with the Candler Co. School system. She and her husband of 52 years, the late Wright Everett, owned and operated Everett Jewelers in Metter for 47 years and the Jewelers Institute in Statesboro where they taught for 18 years. She was a member of the Metter Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bill and Paulette Everett; a grandson and his wife, Mark and J.J. Everett; great-grandchildren, Will and Kate Everett, all of Brunswick; two sisters-in-law, Daisy DeLoach of Pembroke and Lillian Everett of Tuscaloosa, AL; a cousin, Kathleen Spivey of Savannah; niece and caregivers, Mary Belle and Shelby Strick-land of Garden City; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today) at 11 a.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Elder John Sheldon Mikell officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro.
Pallbearers are Douglas DeLoach, Jimmy DeLoach, Calvin Smith, John Everett, Mark Everett and Billy Trapnell.

Rebecca Schwabe
Rebecca Taylor Schwabe, age 82, of Swainsboro died Monday, December 27, 2004, at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Schwabe, a native of Peach County, taught school in Fitzgerald, Metter, and Swains-boro for 30 years. She was twice honored as Star Teacher and was a charter member and first president of the Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Wesleyan Bible Study Circle.
She was a member and former regent of the David Emanuel Chapter of the Daughters of The American Revolution and received her 50 year membership certificate this year. She was wife of the late Ed Schwabe, Sr.
She is survived by three sons, Francis Edward Schwabe Jr. of Swans Island, ME, Charles Taylor Schwabe of Swainsboro, and Jonathan Schwabe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Clarke Schwabe and Phillip Schwabe of Swainsboro, Kate Schwabe of New York, N.Y., and Lt. Clay Schwabe of Ft. Carson, Col.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 30, at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne DeFore and Rev. Susan Blair officiating.
Interment was in the Swains-boro City Cemetery.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Rebecca Taylor Schwabe of Swainsboro.

Debra Ann “Debbie” Wilkes
Debra Ann “Debbie” Wilkes, 49, of Soperton died Friday, December 31, 2004. She was a native of Blount County, TN and was the daughter of the late Ernest Reagan. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest L. Reagan. A graduate of Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, she had taught school in Collins Elementary for two years, Metter Elementary for three years, and in Danielsville for 13 years, before moving to Soperton. She was presently a seventh grade teacher at Treutlen County Middle School. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Wilkes; a daughter, Lacey Wilkes of Soperton; a son, Reggie Wilkes of Soperton; her mother, Virginia Reagan, Walland, TN; a sister, Lucy Reagan of Walland, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at First Baptist Church in Soperton on Sunday with Rev. Don Wilkes and Rev. George Grimes officiating. Burial was in Walker Cemetery in Montgomery County.
Pallbearers were Larry Wilkes, Matt Walden, Adam Hackle, Chip Mercer, Jimmy Wilkes and Matt Ricks.
Sammons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
