ROY FRANKLIN SPROUSE

Roy Sprouse, 64, of Chattanooga died Feb. 24, 2005. Sprouse was born in Chattanooga and retired with 22 years of service in the U.S. Army. During his time in the military, Sprouse was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He served in the third, fifth and sixth special forces groups and was also a member of Project Delta with the fifth Special Forces Group. He was a master paratrooper and served three different tours in the Vietnam War and was highly decorated. He was a lifelong member of the Special Forces Association. Sprouse was preceded in death by sisters Doris Shaw and Edna Joyce Sprouse. Survivors include wife Ginnie Sprouse; sons Boyd Sprouse of Pinebluff, N.C., and Ira Sprouse of Lewis Center, OH.; sister Brenda Giddens of Lookout Mountain; brothers Jimmy Boyd of Chattanooga and Richard Boyd of Rossville; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Feb. 28 in South Crest Chapel. Interment was in National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Lane Funeral Home and Crematory in Rossville.

WAYNE TEMPLETON Wayne Tempelton, 68, of New Salem died Feb. 26, 2005. He was a retired textile worker and served in the National Guard. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the "Rambling Rack" and "Geyer's Angels" teams at Fort Lanes. He was preceded in death by parents Charlie and Myrtle Ledford Templeton; brothers V.L. (Nook) Templeton, Doyle Templeton and special friend Leland Martin. Survivors include wife Ann Holder Templeton; daughter D'Andrea Joy Caliham; sons Michael Templeton, Lee Templeton, and Charles Wayne Templeton Jr.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 1 in Moore Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Harold Howell officiating. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

EDWARD VANBUREN

Edward Vanburen of Trenton died Feb. 27, 2005. Vanburen was a self-employed sheet metal worker and had served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include daughters Renee Ariss of Trenton, Bonnie Neely of Tacoma, Wash., and Andrea Vanburen of Augusta; and eight grandchildren. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

HENRY CLYDE WALKER

Henry Walker, 61, of Chattanooga died Feb. 22, 2005 at Erlanger Medical Center. Walker was formerly of Rosalie, Ala. Walker was preceded in death by father Robert L. Walker. Survivors include mother Alma Walker Roberts of Rainsville; sons Robert L. Renee Walker of Chattanooga and John Ross Webb Jr. of Dayton, Tenn., daughters Teresa Lynn Loyd of Chattanooga; brothers Levoy Walker of Dutton and Delbert Walker of Henagar; and sister Robbie Haymon of Rainsville. Funeral services were held Feb. 24 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Watson William and the Rev. Dan Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery at Pisgah. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

CORRINE LITTLE BEENE

Corrine Beene, 82, of Rising Fawn died March 24, 2005. She was a native of Rising Fawn and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by husband Reubin P. Beene; brothers Robert Little, Jr., Eual Little, S.L. Case, Marvin Little; sisters Romayna McKaig, Onval Dean, and Mary Tucker. Survivors include son Felix L. and Sharon Beene of Rising Fawn; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 25 at Burt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Hairston officiating. Interment was in Beene Cemetery. Arrangements were by Burt Funeral Home in Fort Payne, Ala.

IRENE DANIEL HIGHT

Irene Hight, 90, of Trenton died March 22, 2005. She was a resident of Trenton for over 70 years, a homemaker and was a member of Trenton First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husbands Arnold Daniel and Roy Hight, daughter Betty Ann Hight, son Winston Daniel, five sisters and two brothers. Survivors include daughters Imogene Natalizia of Providence, R.I. and Nancy Cannon of Trenton; sons C.L. Daniel of Rossville, Billy Daniel of Trenton, Jerry Daniel of Derby, Conn., 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 24 in the chapel with Brother Robert Goff officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Gardens. Arrangements were by Moore funeral Home in Trenton.

JOAN PATTERSON

Theresa Joan Patterson, 57, died March 27, 2005. She was a homemaker and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband Archie Patterson, father Virgil Britton, and sister Gloria "Corky" Brogden. Survivors include sons Erik and Sandra Patterson of Whitwell, Tenn., Lancer and Mandy Patterson of Chattanooga, Jerritt Patterson of Trenton; mother Pat Britton of Trenton; sister Linda Thompson of Marietta; brother Ray Britton of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 29 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends John Smith and Michael Shrum officiating. Interment was in Hamilton Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

MARGIE LOU STEPHENS

Margie Lou Stephens, 78, of Wildwood died March 27, 2005. She was a member of the Tiftonia Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by parents Calvin and Fannie Mae Lea; sisters Annie Mae, Dorothy, and Catherine; daughter Karen Kay Stephens; and son Terry Stephens. Survivors include husband Elmer Stephens of Wildwood; daughter Coleen Ripper of Wildwood; son Barry Stephens of Winter Haven, Fla.; sister Edna Brown of Wildwood; and brother Robert Lea of Chattanooga, Tenn., several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jeff Brown officiating. Interment will be in Sarah Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements will be by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

RUBY IRENE STOWE

Ruby Irene Stowe, 91, of Trenton died March 22, 2005. She attended Open Door Baptist Church. Stowe was preceded in death by husband William Berry Stowe. Survivors include daughters Judy Steward of Trenton, Angela Downer Young of Ooltawah, Tenn., Gloria Williams of Chattanooga, Joan Charles of Starke, Fla.; two brothers, two sisters, seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many friends that loved her. Funeral services were held March 24 at Sarah Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Henry Hooper officiating. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

KENNETH TYLER

Kenneth Warren Tyler, 75, of Lookout Mountain died March 20, 2005. He was a native of Denham Springs, La., and a former resident of Baton Rouge. Tyler was preceded in death by sister Ravelle Hays. Survivors include his wife Ruth Higdon Tyler; daughter and husband Teresa and Paul A. Lipari of Frisco, Texas; son and wife Kenneth Wayne and Susie Tyler of Denham Springs, La.; brother Gary Clark Tyler of Mobile, Ala.; grandchildren, Nicole Elizabeth Tyler, Kenneth Wade Tyler; great-granddaughter Hannah Wade Tyler. Funeral services were held March 22 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Westcott officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Moore funeral Home in Trenton.

CONNOR DOBBINS

Connor Lee Dobbins, infant, of Bryant, Ala. died Aug. 15, 2005. Survivors include parents Tracy and Angie Dobbins; sisters Courtney and Candace Dobbins; grandparents Troy and Becky Dobbins and Diana and Everett Cagle. A private graveside service was held in Higdon Cemetery. Arrangements by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

SHERI HAWLEY

Sheri Lynn Hawley, 49, of Trenton died Aug. 19, 2005. She was retired from the instructional research department at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, was a member of several organizations and was a member and secretary-treasurer at Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by brother Danny Edwards. Survivors include husband Chuck Hawley, daughter and son-in-law Dessire and Carl Moore of Chattanooga; sons Danny Lane of Trenton, David Lane of Cookeville, Tenn.; parents William "Bill" and Shirley Edwards of Goodrich, Mich.; sister Jean Davis of Waynesville, N.C.; brothers John Edwards of Lapeer, Mich., William "Marty" Edwards of Clarkston, Mich.; grandchildren Christopher Smith and Vincent Moore, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Aug. 22 in the Trenton Chapel with the Rev. John Eldridge officiating. Interment was in Green Corners Cemetery in Hadley, Mich. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Woodlawn Baptist Church building fund. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

LARRY MCSPADDEN

Larry Rex McSpadden, 54, of Henagar, Ala. died Aug. 19, 2005 in Fort Payne, Ala. McSpadden was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. McSpadden was preceded in death by parents Joseph H. and Frances Anderson McSpadden and brother Glenn McSpadden. Survivors include wife Carol McSpadden of Henagar, Ala.; son Jason Moore of Henagar; Ala.; daughter Christy McSpadden of Henagar, Ala.; brother Howell McSpadden of Henagar, Ala.; sisters Jewell Chisenhall and Joann Gann both of Fort Payne, Ala.; grandchildren Jacey and Jade Moore and a host of special friends. Funeral services were held in Kerby Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Shankles officiating. Interment was in Henagar Community Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

ALVENIA TAYLOR

Alvenia G. Taylor, 85, of Lookout Mountain died Aug. 15, 2005. She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, a housewife and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by husband Luther S. Taylor. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Elaine and David Capehart of Lookout Mountain; son Eddie C. Taylor of Trenton, sisters Irene Atkins of Bridgeport, Ala., Pearl Thompson of Ringgold; brothers Tommy Grant of Chattanooga and Gordan Grant of Hixson, Tenn.; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Aug. 18 in the chapel with the Revs. Lamar Winston and Timothy Winston officiating. Interment was in the Hawkins Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

CLARA DENNIS
Clara McCurdy Dennis, 97, of Fort Payne, Ala., died Dec. 23, 2005 in Crossville, Ala. She was a member of the Hawkins Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents Blaine and Julie Rebecca Lacy McCurdy; husband Floyd C. Dennis; son Bill Dennis; daughter Dora Estill; brothers Joe, Mack and Brown McCurdy, Lee Wilburn; and sister Betty Day. Survivors include son Lanor Dennis, Henagar, Ala.; sisters Mildred Hulgan, Fort Payne, Ala., Jean Stephens, Valley Head, Ala.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Funerals services were held Monday in Kerby Chapel with Rev. Larry Haynes officiating. Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home, Henagar, Ala.

JUANITA FOSTER

Juanita Tinker Foster, 84, of Wildwood died Dec. 23, 2005. She was a member of the Hooker Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by husband R.C. Foster, daughter Mary Ann Lowery and son Stoney Foster. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Jimmy Price, Wildwood; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Diane Foster, Wildwood; son-in-law Tommy Lowery, Wildwood; sisters Betty Carter and Evelyn Miller, both of Trenton; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with minister Frank Parker and Wayne Miller and Lamar Hulvey officiating. Interment was in Hooker Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Preaching the Gospel, in care of James Watkins, P.O. Box 1484, Dalton, Ga., 30722. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton.

CHARLES GILLEY

Charles Edward Gilley, 60, died Dec. 24, 2005 in Nashville V.A. Hospital. He operated an auto body shop in Trenton for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany. He was preceded in death by parents Jim and Hazel Gilley and brother Bennie Gilley. Survivors include brothers Jimmy Gilley, Jacksonville, Fla., Glenn Gilley, Rising Fawn and George Gilley, Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday at the graveside in Brown's Gap Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Bradford officiating. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton.

VIRGINIA KOGER

Virginia A. Britt Koger, 71, of Ider, Ala. died Dec. 20, 2005 in Huntsville. She was preceded in death by parents Claude and Myrtle Britt; husband Acae Dug Koger; granddaughter Misty Ivey and grandson Chad Koger. Survivors include daughters Rhonda Wicks, Rita Tilley; daughters and son-in-laws Sharon and Bill Graben, Kylia and Jeff Cox, Robin and Greg Godwin all of Trenton; son Wayne Koger of Ider; sisters Mary Blevins, Barbara Jones, Brenda Chapman, Janice Shrader, and Joan Hardman; brothers Hugo and C. A. Britt; 13 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 23 in Kerby Chapel with the Rev. Arland Weldon officiating. Interment was in Fuller Cemetery in Ider. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

JERRY LEDBETTER

Jerry Thomas Ledbetter, 65, of Flat Rock, Ala., died Dec. 24, 2005. He was a retired carpenter and a lifelong resident of Sand Mountain. He was preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Lucy Ledbetter, brothers Paul Wilmon and John Wilmon; sisters Alice Elliott and Magaline Wilbanks. Survivors include wife Betty Ledbetter; sons Thomas Ledbetter, Bryant, Ala., Kenneth Ledbetter, Flat Rock, Ala., Jerry Ledbetter, Millington, Tenn.; daughters Bonita Lance and Nicole Politt, Canton, Ill., Rhonda Ledbetter, Millington, Tenn.; step-daughters Brenda Dunn and Ruby Hawkins, Flat Rock., Ala., Wilma Smith, Pisgah, Ala., Kim Bellomy, Scottsboro, Ala.; brothers Murphy Ledbetter, Bryant, Ala., Emmett Ledbetter Jr., Glassford, Ill.; sisters Jimmie Evans, Bryant, Ala., Olene Baker, Owens Crossroads, Ala., Dolly Dykes, Springfield, Ohio; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funerals services were held Tuesday in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Winters officiating. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home, Bryant, Ala.
