Mrs. Ruby C. Daniell

Mrs. Ruby C. Daniell, 75, of Eldorado Drive, Carrollton, died Sunday, September 20, 1998, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.
Mrs. Daniell was born June 21, 1923 in Tyrone, Georgia, daughter of the late Tom J. Cochran and Siddie Mae Crawford Cochran. Mrs. Daniell was a reitred qualtiy control inspector for Playtex, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Whitesburg.
Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by two brothers, Willis Cochran and Hugh Cochran.
A funeral will be Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Whitesburg with the Rev. Jimmy Henry and the Rev. Buddy Gentry officiating. Music will be rendered by Eddie Brannon, Frances Bentley and the church choir under the direction of Bill Long. Pallbearers will be Dempsey Long, Billy Pate, Larry Pate, Wilson Pate, Jason Pate and Wendell Carnes. The body will be placed in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow the funeral service in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Loy K. Daniell of Carrollton; sons and daughters-in-law, Howell and Sandy Daniell of Carrollton and Warren and Barbara Daniell of Vidalia; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

CM/Sgt. (Ret.) Emanuel Thomas Galloway

M/Sgt. (Ret.) Emanuel Thomas Galloway of Conyers will be buried Wednesday in Conyers, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Rockdale Baptist Church in Conyers. Dr. Stephen Powers and Dr. Gary Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens in Conyers.

Mrs. Marjorie Watson, 72, of Senoia, died Sept. 17, 1998 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Watson was born Jan. 1, 1926 in Coweta County. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Senoia.
A funeral will be Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Milton Holston will serve as eulogist, assisted by the Rev. A. G Baker and other ministers. Burial will be in Rocky Mt. Bethel Baptist Church cemetery in Luthersville. Pallbearers will be David Brooks, Kevin Brooks, Robert Fowler, Dexter Gates, Timothy Gates, Randy Harris, Timothy Puckett and Jodell Watson.

Mrs. Mavis Stevens White, 83, of West Columbia, South Carolina, and a former resident of Hogansville, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998 in White Rock, South Carolina.
A funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville. The Rev. R. C. Precott, the Rev. Wesley Boatman and the Rev. Ed White will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Mrs. White was born May 22, 1915 in Cleburne County, Alabama, daughter of the late Walter and Lula Pike Stevens. She lived in Hogansville most of her life before making her home in West Columbia in 1995. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Hogansville.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Roland White of West Columbia; daughters, Mrs. Lavis Stone of West Columbia and Mrs. Reba Young of Somerset, Wisconsin; sons, Dolton White of West Columbia and the Rev. Ed White of Warm Springs; sister, Mrs. Mildred Cammon of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.

Mr. James Thomas Knott, 53, of Tyrone died Sept. 21, 1998 at Fayette Community Hospital.
Born June 24, 1945 in Coweta County, Mr. Knott was the son of the late Willie Lee Knott and Betty Reese Bryant. He was a truck driver.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. in Manchester with C.R. Nix officiating.

Mrs. Ann Helen Sullivan Henry, 85, of Newnan died Sept. 22, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Henry was the wife of the late Albert Luther henry and a graduate of Russell High School. She attended Shorter College.
In the 1930s and 40s, Mr. Henry was director of the preschool program at St. John's Episcopal Church in College Park.
A graveside service will be Friday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary M. Parrish and the Rev. Jimmy Hood officiating. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Born June 6, 1902 in Coweta County, Mrs. Hines was the widow of the late Joe A. Hines. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
The funeral will be Friday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral home, with the Rev. Talmadge Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery, with her great-nephews as pallbearers.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Born March 12, 1915 in Carroll County, Mrs. Carnes worked at The Bibb Company for 50 years and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Born June 1, 1937 in Carroll County, Mrs. Gaddy was the daughter of the late Grady and Sophia Quigley Roberts and the wife of the late Melvin S. Gaddy. She was a merchant and a Baptist.

Born March 14, 1915 in Chambers County, Ala., Mrs. Hudson was the daughter of the late Wade and Sallie Richardson Neese and the wife of the late Ernest M. Hudson. She was retired from Uniroyal and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hogansville.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marion Shivers officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late Clarence Lyon and Mary "Muddie" Lyon and the wife of the late Roy L. Matthews Sr. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church since 1954 and was retired from Davison's Department Stores.
A graveside service will be Friday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park in Macon, with the Rev. Lanny Earley officiating.

Mr. Cook was born Jan. 27, 1920 in Coweta County.

Mrs. Payne was born Jan. 3, 1940 in Fulton County, daughter of the late Charles and Lillie Mae Burdette Turner. She was a banking clerk with NationsBank and a member of Westside Baptist Church.
A brother, Ronnie Turner, preceded her in death.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Bearden and the Rev. Jimmy Fleming officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Ralph Lee Bowers Jr.

Mr. Ralph Lee Bowers Jr., 77, formerly of Shannon Drive, Greenville, South Carolina, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998.
Mr. Bowers was the son of the late Ralph Lee and Roxia Lucille Graves Bowers and the widower of Louise Crawford Bowers.
He was a graduate of Berry College and retired from Liberty Life Insurance Compnay after 32 years. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve, retiring as a LCDR. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theatre and was part of the officer group that accepted the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri. Bowers was a past president of the North Greenville Rotary, a past president of the South Carolina Genealogical Society, and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He did hospital volunteer work in the cancer treatment center for 12 years. He was also a mission volunteer at World Witness and was a mission volunteer in Pakistan in 1989. Bowers was a member of the Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he served as a church deacon and then an elder. He was also the church historian for White Oak ARP Church in Moreland, Ga.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, Greenville, S.C. with Rev. Neely Gaston and Dr. Chap Lauderdale officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion.
Surviving are three sons, Ralph L. "Skip" Bowers III of Simpsonville, S. C., Jack Olin Bowers of Taylors, S. C. and Andrew Forrest Bowers of Pelzer, S. C.; daughter, Rebecca Bowers Bird of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Martha B. Reese of Talladega, Ala. and Betty B. Darden of Brandon, Fla.; brother, Lisle Bowers of Senoia, Ga.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Bobby J. Higgins

Mr. Bobby J. Higgins, 65, of Hogansville, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mr. Higgins was born August 1, 1933 in Graham, Ala., son of the late Grady and Velma Lee Higgins. He retired as a major in the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. He had made his home in Hogansville since 1975 and retired as a meterologist from Delta Air Lines after 11 years of service.
Mr. Higgins received a bacholor's degree form Penn State University and a master's degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. He was a member of the American Meterological Association, the Air Weather Association, the Delta Pioneers, and the Penn State Alumni Club. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville and the Happy 60's.
A funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Jimmy Brown will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Michael Stitcher, Jason Williamson, Steven Williamson, Ryan Williamson, Tony Abner and Brian Higgins.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Higgins of Hogansville; six daughters and their husbands, Mickie Higgins and Len Hallke of Smyrna, Ga., Marygold and Steven Ticknor of Trenton, Fla., Alicia and Tony Gladden of Jonesboro, Helen Higgins and Mike Kimmey, Robi and Richie Bowles and Lois Higgins all of Hogansville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianne and Randall Golden of Peachtree City, Shelba and Bill Cranston of Hogansville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Jane Higgins of Orlando, Fla., Mike and Catherine Higgins of Roswell; 12 grandchildren and a grandson-in-law; one great-grandson.

Mrs. Ellen Johnson, 82, of Mt. Carmel Road, Newnan, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Coweta County Nov. 28, 1915, daughter of the late William Alton Smith and Annie Austin Smith. She worked as a lunchroom attendant. She was the widow of Harry D. Johnson.
A funeral will be Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. Officiating will be the Rev. Ford Ash. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Lois Dye Lamb, 72, of Landis, N. C., died Sept. 25, 1998 at her home.
She was born May 6, 1926 in Bartow, Florida, daughter of the late Phillip W. Dye and Ruth Dye Byrd. She was the widow of Leland P. Lamb. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Landis, N. C. where she was a Sunday School teacher. She moved to Landis in 1997 from Newnan, Ga. where she had lived for the past 10 years.
A funeral was 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28 at graveside at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell, N. C. with the Rev. Barry Sutton officiating.
Surviving are sons, Gilbert Allen Lamb of LaGrange, Ga., Bruce W. Lamb of China Grove, N. C., and David Pasco Lamb of Sarasota, Fla.; daughters, Gloria J. Danley of Charlotte, N. C.; Linnet Yohman of Leominister, Mass.; brother, Richard Dye of Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren.

Mr. Harvey R. Mangham

Mr. Harvey R. Mangham, 92, of Hammond Drive, Griffin, Ga. died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998 at Spalding Regional Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Pike County, Mr. Mangham was the son of the late Robert Jackson Mangham and Abbie Littlejohn Mangham and his son Marvin Mangham. He was a veteran of World War II and member of Hammond Drive Baptist Church.
A funeral was Monday afternoon at the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home in Griffin with the Rev. Torie Daniells officiating. Burial was in Westwood Gardens.
Mr. Mangham is survived by his wife, Bernice O'Kelley Mangham and sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Cindy Smith Mangham, Glen and Joyce Thompson Mangham, Edna Coe Mangham, widow of Marvin, all of Griffin, Rick and Sharon Roberts Mangham of Newnan, son-in-law and daughter, Maryon and Linda Mangham Williams of Princton Juncton, N.J.; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Justin Davis of Newnan; sisters, Ruby Moore, Nanny Bell Moore and Emma Minter all of Thomaston; nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Hammond Drive Baptist Church.

Miss Roxie Reagan

Miss Roxie Reagan, 82, of Happy Valley Circle, Newnan, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998 at Southwest Christian Hospice.
Miss Reagan was born in Heard County Nov. 11, 1915, daughter of the late Jesse Reagan and Edna Rainey Reagan. A homemaker, she was a charter member of Westview Christian Church.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 at the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Minister David East will officiate, assisted by Elder Dale Fjeran. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Surviving are brothers, Charlie and Juanita Reagan of Fayetteville, Ga. and George and Nell Reagan of Newnan; sisters, Bernice Stone of Newnan and Sara and J. T. Watson of Fayetteville; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Josephine A. Sims

Mrs. Josephine Ainslie Sims, 79, of Hogansville died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998 at her home.
A funeral was 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Bill Camp and Dr. Jerry Cross officiated and interment was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Pallbearers were Charles Smith, Otis Smith, Maitland Adams, Bobby Baldwin, Andy Ainslie, Hank Bailey and Ron Prescott.
Mrs. Sims was born August 19, 1919 in Hawthorne, Fla., daughter of the late James William Ainslie and the late Muriel Smith Ainslie. She spent her childhood years in Madison, was a graduate of Madison High School, attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, and was a 1940 graduate of the University of Georgia.
A resident of Hogansville since 1941, she retired from the Hogansville School System after serving as a teacher for 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hogansville, the Green Bough Garden Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Sims served as a member of the Hogansville Cemetery Committee and was the wife of the late Truitt C. Sims.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Truitt C. (Patricia) Sims Jr. of Snellville; one brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew A. (Mary) Ainslie of Madison; two grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Smith of Grantville; brother-in-law, William R. Smith of Hogansville.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Sims may be made to the Hogansville Senior Center.
