Mrs. Agnes Hubbard Larkin

Mrs. Agnes Hubbard Larkin, 81, of Hogansville died March 16, 1999 at her home.

Born May 16, 1917 in Turin, Mrs. Larkin was the daughter of the late Joseph and Fanny Hubbard. She was a retired cafeteria manager for Youngstown Steel Mill in Gary, Ind. and was a Methodist.

A graveside service will be Thursday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Survivors include her sisters, Ethel Vincent of LaGrange, Faye Robinson of Americus; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ocie Mae Kight Long

Mrs. Ocie Mae Kight Long, 85, of Carrollton died March 11, 1999 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Born April 11, 1914, Mrs. Long was the daughter of the late George and Lillian Brown. She was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. James Kight; brother, Roy Brown; and grandson, Walter Kight Jr.

The funeral was March 15 at Westside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Walter Kight Sr. and Irish Adams officiating, assisted by Lewis Askew, Duane Jackson and Bradley Bell. Burial followed at Westside Memorial Garden, with deacons and trustees of Westside Baptist Church as pallbearers.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Jeff Long; daughters, Frances, Mary, Linda, Annette of Carrollton; sons, Walter Kight, Aron Kight; son-in-law, James Houston; sisters, Tina Moreland, Rena Gibson, Ruth Brown; brother, the Rev. L.B. Brown; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lurlene Storey Pitts

Mrs. Lurlene Storey Pitts, 87, of McDonough, formerly of Hogansville, died March 18, 1999 at Starcrest Convalescent Center in McDonough.

Born Jan. 28, 1912 in Meriwether County, Mrs. Pitts was the daughter of the late Warner and Ophelia Godfrey Rowe. She was retired from Uniroyal Inc. and was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Rocky Mount.

Survivors include her son, S.W. "Sonny" Storey of McDonough; sisters, Connie Barton, Agnes Reynolds, Janie Tatum, Gina Brock, all of Hogansville, Margaret Stowe of Oxford; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Linda Caldwell Toney

Mrs. Linda Caldwell Toney, 55, of Hogansville died March 18, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Born Sept. 17, 1943 in Brunswick, Mrs. Toney was the daughter of the late Amon George Caldwell and Dorothy Benefield Caldwell. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Newnan.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 20, at 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rick Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Survivors include her husband, Brady A. Mr. Virgil Thomas Adams

Mr. Virgil Thomas Adams, 69, of Cherokee St., Newnan, died Monday, March 22, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Mr. Adams was born Dec. 21, 1929 in Polk County, Ga. He was the son of the late Alvin Adams. He was employed in the die shop at William L. Bonnell Co. in Newnan and was a United States veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 23 from 6-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

A funeral will be Wednesday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at McKoon chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Fleming and the Rev. Bob Daugherty officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road.

Surviving are his wife, Jessie Mae Adams of Newnan; mother, Edna B. Mr. Dorsey Cammon of Second Street in the Arnco community of Coweta County died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

He was the husband of Mrs. Karen Cammon.

Mrs. Cora Orr, 97, of Bob Smith Road, Sharpsburg, died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Orr was born Jan. 18, 1902 to Mr. Will Minter and Mrs. Mattie Langford Minter. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Henry Brewster Orr, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 23 from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan.

A funeral will be held at graveside in the Sharpsburg Baptist Church cemetery Wednesday, March 24 at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. Watson Mills officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Herb Bridges, Lamar Coursey, Wayne Dukes, Joey Hood, Charles Orr, Howard Orr, Render Orr and Danny Perkins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sharpsburg Baptist Senior Ministries or to the cemetery fund.

Mr. Robert Alton Orr, 85, of Senoia died Saturday, March 20, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Orr was born March 12, 1914 and was a farmer.

A funeral will be held at graveside Tuesday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at Senoia City Cemetery with the Rev. Carolyn Evans officiating.

Surviving are his wife, Katheryn Orr of Senoia; sons, Jimmy Orr and Robert L. Ms. Neva Lucille Waltz

Ms. Neva Lucille Waltz, 90, of Baltimore, Md., and mother of Dr. Lucy Hayden of Newnan, died Saturday, March 20, 1999 at Georgian Place.

Mrs. Waltz was born Dec. 5, 1908 in Baltimore to Otto A. Wilhelm and Lucy Barker Wilhelm. She had been a resident of The Alameda in Baltimore and had worked as a clerical worker for the Social Security Administration. Her husband Edwin M. Waltz preceded her in death.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan with the Rev. Winston Skinner officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Tuesday at McKoon's.

Mr. Woodrow W. Welborn, 83, of Foster Drive, Newnan, died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange, Ga.

Mr. Welborn was born Oct. 19, 1915 in Lowell, Ga. to Mr. William Wiley Welborn and Mrs. Martha Jane Stover Welborn. He was a retired textile supervisor.

A funeral will be Tuesday, Mrach 23 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home in Newnan with the Rev. Alan Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road. Pallbearers will be Kelley Wilder, Dwayne Denney, Stan Denney, Max Kitchens, Ray Shaver and Rich Allen.

Mrs. Sallie G. Woodard

Mrs. Sallie G. Woodard, 79, of Howard Hughes Road, Newnan, died March 19, 1999 at Starcrest Nursing Home in Newnan.

She was born August 19, 1919 in Fayetteville, Ga. to the late Mr. Joe Alex Green and Mrs. Mary Hester Ward Green. She joined the New Hope Methodist Church many years ago.

She was married to the late John Thomas Woodard and they had four children. Two, John David Woodard and Joann Woodard, preceded her in death.

A funeral will be Wednesday, March 24 at 2 p.m. from the Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel with Bishop Willie Gardner officiating, assisted by Elder Zadie Mae Sims, Pastor Willie Mae Wilson (daughter) and Elder Dollar Daniel.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden, Mallory Road, College Park, Ga. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Brown, Bobby Taylor, Narraton Brooks, Jeffrey Irvin, Willie Frank Green and Labrony Smith.

Mr. Eugene Hartman

Mr. Eugene Hartman, 83, of Hogansville died March 22, 1999 at Hutcheson Medical Center in Ft. Oglethorpe.

Born April 19, 1915 in Shawmutt, Ala., Mr. Hartman was the son of the late Andrew and Sadie Lee Hartman. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was retired from Uniroyal Inc..

Mr. Hartman was a member of the Hogansville Masonic Lodge and a past worthy patron and past district grand deputy of the Order of the Eastern Star.

The funeral will be Wednesday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, with Gerald Hartman Jr., Gary McDougald, Don Conway, Danny Arrington, William T. Watson and John Cranston Jr. as pallbearers.

The Rev. Phillip Pierce Rainwater

The Rev. Phillip Pierce Rainwater, 67 of Villa Rica died March 22, 1999 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica.

Born May 4, 1931 in Douglas County, the Rev. Rainwater was the son of the late Dave Henry Rainwater and Lucy Bell Belcher Rainwater, the husband of the late Martha Peppers Rainwater and the father of the late Darrell Rainwater.

He retired in 1992 as a house painter and was a Baptist evangelist and associate pastor of Sand Hill Revival Church.

The funeral was March 23 at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gail Dees officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, with Ricky Coats, Ricky Dees, Harvey Nichols, David Hemmings Sr., Ernest Moody and Travis Bearden as pallbearers.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Richard Coats of Whitesburg, Irene and David Hemmings of Newnan; sisters, Estoria Martin of Cartersville, Lennie Rainwater of Connecticut; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thomas Richard Ware, 50, of West Georgia Highway 34 died March 22, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Aug. 12, 1948 in Coweta County, Mr. Ware was the son of the late William Euclid Ware Sr. He worked as a custodian.

The funeral will be Thursday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ford Ash and the Rev. Bobby Helton officiating. Burial will follow at Handy Road Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas Richard Ware, 50, of West Georgia Highway 34 died March 22, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Marie Posey Evans

Mrs. Marie Posey Evans, formerly of Newnan, died March 25, 1999 at St. Barnabas Nursing Home in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Mrs. Evans was the widow of the late Orren O. Evans of Newnan and the daughter of the late Dr. Everett O. Posey and Annie Parks Posey of Woodruff, S.C.

A graduate of Winthrop College, Mrs. Evans earned a bachelor's degree in education and started teaching in Woodruff in 1933. After earning a master's degree in library science from Peabody College in 1940, she became librarian at Woodruff High School.

In 1944, she continued her teaching career in the Newnan City Schools as librarian of Newnan High School.

Mrs. Evans later earned education specialist certification from Emory University and worked library coordinator for the Coweta County School System until her retirement in 1977.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan, where she was a volunteer librarian.

A graveside service will be Sunday, March 28, at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

Survivors include five nieces and a great-nephew.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Newnan Library.

Miss Edna P. Arrington

Miss Edna P. Arrington, 86, of Hogansville died March 26, 1999 at the Florence Hand Home in LaGrange.

Born Dec. 16, 1912 in Heard County, Miss Arrington was the daughter of the late Harvey Hoyt Arrington and and Polly James Arrington. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and Georgia Baptist School of Nursing.

Miss Arrington was retired from Emory University Hospital as a registered nurse and a member of Ebeneezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville.

The funeral will be Monday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at Ebeneezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville, with the Rev. Eric Killinger officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery in Heard County, with Daniel Arrington, Steven Arrington, Frankie Arrington, Tim Loveday, Alan Sheady and Don Newman as pallbearers.

Survivors include her brothers and sister-in-law, Mickle Arrington of Hogansville, Frank and Betty Arrington of Franklin; sister-and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Loveday of Alpharetta; nieces and nephews.

Mr. George Robert Bailey of Manchester died March 26, 1999 at the Florence Hand Home in LaGrange. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home.

Mr. Kenneth Cook, 49, of Corinth Road in Newnan died March 27, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born May 17, 1949 in Coweta County, Mr. Cook was a diesel mechanic with Ryder Trucking Company and a Baptist.

The funeral will be Monday, March 29, at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Arrington officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, with Chris Cook, Kevin Cook, Jason Cook, Mike Rousseau, David Parkinson and Greg Nelson as pallbearers.

Mrs. Lois L. Denney, 90, of Hogansville died March 26, 1999 at Brian Care Nursing Home in LaGrange.

Born March 3, 1909 in Roanoke, Ala., Mrs. Denney was the daughter of the late Robert Benjamin "Bob" Littlefield and Texas Cook "Cis" Littlefield and the wife of the late C.B. Denney. She was retired from Uniroyal Inc. and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville.

Mrs. Sadie Eidson, 83, of Newton Road in Newnan died March 26, 1999 in Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.

Born April 4, 1915 in Coweta County, Mrs. Eidson was the daughter of the late Tom Goodroe and Elizabeth Robards Goodroe and the wife of the late James H. Eidson. She was a retired waitress.

The funeral will be Sunday, March 28, at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. Searcy Jackson and the Rev. John Riley officiating. Burial will follow at the church Cemetery, with James Brimer, Terry Brimer, Bobby Davis, David Kee, Gene Marshburn and Greg Marshburn as pallbearers.

Mrs. Carol Rowe Christy, 81, of Hogansville, died Saturday, March 27, 1999 at her home.

Mrs. Christy was born August 12, 1917 in Gay, Ga., daughter of the late Grantland and Mary Brittain Rowe. She lived in Atlanta for many years, was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in East Point, and retired as an administrative assistant in the Fulton County Solicitor's Office. She had lived in Hogansville since 1979, was a member of the Hogansville Senior Center and was the wife of the late Hugh Christy.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 at graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The Rev. Jim Clarke will officiate.

Surviviors include son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carolyn Christy of Newnan; sister, Mrs. Jane R. Mr. Kenneth Cook, 49, of Corinth Road, Newnan, died March 27, 1999 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Mr. Cook was born May 17, 1949 in Coweta County. He was a diesel mechanic for Ryder Trucking Company and a member of the Baptist faith.

A funeral was Monday, March 29 at Hillcrest Chapel funeral home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Arrington officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Cook, Kevin Cook, Jason Cook, Mike Rousseau, David Parkinson and Greg Nelson.

Surviving are his father, Herman Cook of Newnan; mother Corene Wallace of Newnan; daughter, Jennifer Roche of Newnan; grandson, Andrew Roche of Newnan; brother, Larry Cook of Newnan; sister, Mary Ann Haynes of Newnan; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Mr. Woodrow Wilson Robertson

Mr. Woodrow Wilson Robertson, 86, of Hal Jones Road, Newnan, died Saturday, March 27, 1999 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.

Mr. Robertson was born Oct. 22, 1912 in Coweta County. He was a retired Civil Service employee and member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

A funeral was Monday, March 29 at 3 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan with the Rev. Searcy Jackson and the Rev. John Riley officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road.

Pallbearers were Larry Nation, Rayborn McLain, James Ferrell, Barry Hayes, Bill Lay, Buddy Watts, Don Phillips and Charles Barrett. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Julia Irene Robertson of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jonathan Ruckman

Mr. Jonathan Ruckman, 43, of Newnan died Saturday, March 27, 1999 at his residence.

Mr. Ruckman was born in Cumberland, MD, March 31, 1955. He was a purchasing director.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, March 30 at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church on Roscoe Road with Father Leo Herbert officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road.

Pallbearers will be Robert Barrett, Shawn Barrett, Wayne Barrett, Robert Barrett Jr., Bradley Down and Dave Kontowsky.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Ruckman of Newnan; father, William Ruckman Sr. of West Virginia; mother, Nedra Ruckman of Klein, TX; daughter, Samantha Ruckman of Newnan; sister, Debra Maruffi of Cincinnati, OH; brother, William Ruckman Jr. of Wichita, KS.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sun Alliance Hospice at 1335 Lake Ridge Pkwy., Riverdale, GA 30296.

Mrs. Lillie Howard Tenney

Mrs. Lillie Howard Tenney, 84, of Newnan died Sunday, March 28, 1999 at Beulieu Convalescent Home in Newnan.

Mrs. Tenney was born April 18, 1914 in Meriwether County, Ga. to Robert Lee Howard and Mary Story. She worked at Newnan Hosiery Mill and also as an LPN at Morris Nursing Home (now Starcrest). She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

A funeral will be Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home in Newnan at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Calhoun officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Richard Kee, Paul Doler, Mike Turner and George Hooks.

Surviving are daughter, Betty Doler of Newnan; sisters, Ruby Turner of the Shenandoah/ White Oak community near Newnan and Barbara Barnes of Thomaston; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. James L. Watkins

Mr. James L. Watkins, 57, of 1972 Corinth Road, Newnan, died Sunday, March 28, 1999 at South Fulton Medical Center in East Point, Ga.

Mr. Watkins was born July 23, 1941 in Hogansville and had lived in the Newnan area since 1973. He served as a paratrooper in the Army and was the owner of B and K Battery Company in Newnan.

A funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 at the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Frank Powers will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Edith Cantrell Watkins of Newnan; daughter, Angela Elizabeth Watkins of Athens; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James L. (Amy) Watkins Jr. of Newnan; one granddaughter, Miss Lauren Watkins of Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
