Beverly Schindler
Beverly M. Schindler, age 74 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, May 24,
2005. She was a native of Dayton, Oh. and had lived many years in the
Atlanta area. She was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of the Mountains
Catholic Church in Jasper.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Schindler of Jasper; sons, Jay and
John Schindler, both of Decatur, Don Schindler of Alaska, Edward Schindler
of Snellville and Paul Schindler of Roswell; daughters, Mary Youngblood of
Cumming, Cathy Schindler of Decatur and Elizabeth Yount of Ellijay. Thirteen
grandchildren and one niece also survives.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2 from
Arlington Memorial Park Mausoleum, Atlanta. The Rev. Ricardo Bailey will be
officiating. Entombment will follow. Medford-Peden Funeral Home of Marietta
in charge of arrangements.

Vaughan Tallent
Mr. Vaughan Tallent, age 42 of Acworth, passed away Saturday, May 28,
2005 at his residence.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Tallent, Acworth; brothers, Tim
Tallent, Atlanta, and Troy Tallent, New Orleans, La.; sister, Gwen Jones,
Kennesaw; and a nephew.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, May 31 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Harper officiating. Interment
followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Johnny, Alan, Loy
and Clinton Walker, Randall Childers and Danny Jones.

Florence Pirkle
Florence Pirkle, age 92 of Canton, passed away May 28, 2005.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. May 31 at South Canton Funeral
Home and Chapel.

Della Silvers
Mrs. Della Silvers, age 84 of Fairmount, passed away Friday, May 27,
2005 at her home.
Survivors include her sons, Verlon, Kenneth and Don Jack Silvers;
daughters, Bonzal Mathews and Dolly Dyers; sisters, Lillian Noland, Stella
Monforti and Ella Chastain. Fourteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren
and nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Silvers was preceded in death by
her husband, Johnny Silvers.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 29 from the
Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Clay Fountain officiating. Interment
followed in the church cemetery. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.

Carolyn Stancil
Mrs. Carolyn Stancil, age 57 of Jasper, passed away Friday, May 27, 2005
at Emory University Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas James Stancil, Jasper; parents,
Ben and the late Edna Richards, Canton; children, Ira Boynton, Cassie Suter,
Tim Stancil, Tammy Pickett, Terri Byrd, Tracy and Tommy Stancil;
grandchildren, Raquel and Lewis Boynton, Ben and Kyle Suter, Shannon,
Nicholas, Dustin, Colby Stancil, Anna and Hayes Pickett, Coby and Jacob
Hollifield, Taylor Byrd, Codie Kisselburg, Dylan Stancil; brothers, Benny,
Mike, Dennis and Lewis Richards; and one sister, Joyce Lingerfelt. Eighteen
nieces and nephews and 44 great-nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday from New Hope Baptist
Church in Canton, Ga. with the Rev. Carl George officiating. Interment
followed in the church cemetery. The family did accept flowers or
contributions to the Kidney Foundation. Roper Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.

George Raynes
Mr. George Raynes, age 77 of Tate, passed away May 29, 2004 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Raynes, Tate; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Wayne Mulkey, Dawsonville, Brenda and Kevin Williams and Jimmie Raynes, Tate, and Janice and Danny Costlow, Hinton; sisters, Lucille Forrest and Thelma James, both of Jasper, Dorothy Yates, Florida, Bonnie Haley, Canton, and Annie Peeler, Tennessee. Ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 31 in the Free Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald Haley and Robert Allen officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jerry Wofford, Randy, Dwayne and Steve Mulkey, Brandon Raynes, Michael Taylor, Marvin Moore and Brian Costlow. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Martha Appleberry
Mrs. Martha Sue Appleberry, age 63 of Calhoun, Ga., passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Gordon Hospital following several months of declining health.
Mrs. Appleberry was born Sept. 11, 1940 in Pickens County, Ga., daughter of the late Clifford and Christine Tate Cowart. During her lifetime, she was employed as a bookkeeper/tax preparer. Mrs. Appleberry was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Ranger.
Survivors include her daughter, Patsy (Anna) Bailey of Calhoun; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry and Helen Bailey and William Gene Raynes, all of Calhoun; sister, Mae Parker, Calhoun; grandchildren, Tiffany Hooper, Teesha Evans and John Lee; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Tessey and Carley Hooper, Whitney McBee and Oakley Taylor. Niece, Diane Quintana, and nephew, Terry Parker, also survive.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 2 at 2 p.m. from the Bradley Anderson Memorial Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Causby and Pastor Rusty Haradon officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Ed Quintana, Terry, Corey, Jeremy and Roy Parker.

Stanley King
Mr. Stanley King, age 49 of Jasper, formerly of Cherokee County, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004. He was a carpenter
Survivors include his sons, Scotty King of Indiana, Colt and Kurk King, both of Jasper; brothers, Jeff and Shane King, both of Ellijay, Van, Stacey, Dean and Franklin King, all of Jasper, Roger King, Alabama, Dwight King, Clayton, and James King, Canton; sisters, Annette and Karon King, both of Jasper. One grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30 from the New Friendship Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Cloer, Buck Rampley and Franklin King officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery. Sosebee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Edward McHale, Sr.
Mr. Edward Earl McHale, Sr., age 68 of Darien, Ga., passed away Saturday, May 29, 2004 at his residence. Anative of Atlanta, he made his home in Darien for the past 28 years. He was an independent trucker and a member of Costal Worship Center.
Surviving are his wife, Anne DeLoach McHale, Darien; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Michael Major, Gainesville, Fl., and Pamela and Bryan Klosat, St. Mary’s, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Rhonda McHale, Talking Rock. Nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 1 from Costal Worship Center with the Revs. Bill Ligon and Lee Brandt officiating. Interment was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper with the Rev. Bob Self officiating. Pallbearers were: Ronald Shaw, Kirk Quinton, Timothy Bryans, Jason Back, Daniel Hickey and John Polley. Honorary pallbearers were Donna and Butch Ginn and Stephanie and Levy Rentz. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Pkwy., Brunswick, Ga. 31525. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Bernice Payne
Mrs. Bernice Payne, age 56 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center.
Survivors include her mother, Neoma Moss Herndon, Calhoun; son, Mitchell Payne, Jasper; daughters, Stacey and Tammy Payne, both of Jasper; brothers, Danny Herndon, Ranger, Robert Herndon, Calhoun, Hoyle Herndon, Jasper, and Edward Herndon, Ellijay; sisters, Edna Satterfield, Ellijay, Linda Mabry, Canton, Bennie Bell and Shirley Kirby, both of Calhoun. Five grandchildren also survive, Stephen, Cody, Caitlyn, Devan and Dylan Payne.
The funeral service was held Saturday, May 29 at 2 p.m. from the Town Creek Baptist Church with Pastor David Herring, the Rev. Lonnie Wright and J.B. Kirby officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Danny Holden, Nicholas Hawkins, Bobby Coker, Danny Wilson, Doug Eaton, Bryan and Chris Coker and Jimmy Daily. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Emory Rogers
Mr. Emory Rogers, age 49 of Ranger, Ga., passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Gordon Hospital following a heart attack.
Mr. Rogers was born Feb. 25, 1955 in Gordon County, son of the late Randolph and Clara Mae Stone Rogers. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Canaan Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a lifelong resident of Gordon County where he loved to fish, garden and being with his grandchildren. He was an employee of Mannington Carpets where he was a hyster driver in the shipping department for the past 31 years.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Broome Rogers of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Steve Jackson of Ranger; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Michelle Rogers of Ranger; grandchildren, Jalan Rogers, Clarrissa, Hannah and Tyler Jackson; sisters, Susan Parker of Ranger and Wanda of Arizona; brothers, Edward, Evertte and Eddie Rogers, all of Ranger, Johnny Rogers of Resaca,Artrell Rogers of Sonoraville Community and Billy Rogers of Alabama. Aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday at 3 p.m. from Bradley Anderson Memorial Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Singing was arranged by Myra Ingle and Tim Chastain. Pallbearers were: Glenn and Chris Stone, Ricky Brookshire, Rodney and Chad Kelly and Ryan Parker. Interment followed in Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Daisy Ponders
Mrs. Daisy E. Bennett Ponders, age 91 of Dalton, Ga., departed this life Monday morning, May 24, 2004 at Ridgwood Manor Health Care Center.
Mrs. Ponders was born Oct. 7, 1912 in Pickens County, daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Frances (Holmes) Jones. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Esker Bennett;her second husband, Virgil A. Ponders; son, Glenn Bennett; and grandson, Roy Bennett. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Gilmer County and attended the Dalton Church of God.
Survivors include her step-son, Mack and Donna Ponders of Dallas, Tx.; step-daughter, Fannie Bell Priest of Talking Rock; daughter-in-law, Jean Bennett of Dalton; grandchildren, Donna and Tommy Taylor and Carolyn Bennett, all of Dalton, and Debbie and Terry Callahan of Chatsworth; great-grandchildren, Michael and Sherri Bennett, Shane, Brenda, Chris and Anthony Calhoun and Ashley Callahan. A number of great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, May 26 at 2 p.m. from Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Parks officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens.

Roy Bennett
Mr. Roy Glenn Bennett, age 53 of Dalton, departed this life Saturday afternoon, May 15, 2004.
Roy was born March 6, 1951 in Pickens County, Ga. He was employed at Rosedale Transport as a truck driver and was a member of the Valley Brook Church of God. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Glenn Bennett. Roy loved his family and friends, and his grandchildren were the light of his life.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Carolyn (Akins) Bennett of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Roy and Sherri Bennett; grandchildren, Justin, Jadyn and Jenna Bennett; mother, Jean (Carver) Bennett, all of Dalton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Terry Callahan of Chatsworth and Donna and Tommy Taylor of Dalton; grandmother, Estelle Ponder of Dalton; mother- and father-in-law, Katheryn and Bill Kirby of Chattanooga, Tn. Several nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.
The service to celebrate the life of Roy Bennett was held Tuesday, May 18 at 2 p.m. from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with his pastor, Rev. Chester Edwards officiating. Interment followed in the United Memorial Gardens. His nephews served as pallbearers: Chris, Anthony and Shane Calhoun, Anthony and Bryan Sanford and Jason McFalls.

Sandra Hamilton
Mrs. Sandra R. Hamilton, age 60 of Fairmount, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007 at her residence. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Waymond Hamilton, Fairmount; daughters, Denise Hamilton, Marietta, Jamie Towns and Sarah Ellis, both of Fairmount; brother, Billy Rogers, Marietta; sister, Judy Gray, Hiram. Six grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Richard Wilkins officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Alice Fields
Alice Mayerene Fields, age 80 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Metropolitan Hospice in Marietta.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Deborah Fields, Roswell; sisters, Rosalyn Poole, Villa Rica, Marilyn Quinton, Jasper, and Helen Bannister; and grandson, Joel Fields, Powder Springs. Four step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, May 30 at 2 p.m. from Free Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Grant Wade, Randy Weaver and Charles Hammontree officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Scott McAliley, Billy Jones, Jeff Quinton, Andy and Jackie Bannister and Gavia Bacchus. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Edward Pendley
Edward Eulas Pendley, age 93 of Canton, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Pendley was a sandblaster for Georgia Marble Company and a member of Long Swamp Baptist Church. He is survived by sons, Junior, William, Coy and Randle Pendley; daughters, Jenette Cheshire, JoAnn Popham, Betty Cantrell and Joshlyne Smith; brother, Russell Pendley; sister, Clara Mae Callahan. Twenty-six grandchildren, seventy-four great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral services was held Sunday, June 3 at 2 p.m. from Long Swamp Baptist Church in Marble Hill, Ga. Interment followed in the church cemetery. South Canton Funeral Home and Chapel in charge of arrangements.
