Jessie Hunley
Mrs. Jessie M. Hunley, age 101 of Jasper, passed early Wednesday morning, Oct. 11, 2006 at Canton Nursing Center in Canton. Mrs. Hunley was a member of the Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church in Morganton, Ga.
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy H. Carstens, Jasper; and granddaughters, Gail Smith of Marietta and Deborah Parkman of Jasper. Five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survives.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Sineath officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shepard of the Mountain Lutheran Church.

Lonnie Walker
Lonnie Walker, age 77 of Good Hope, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11,
2005 at Abbey Hospice following an extended illness.
A native of Pickens County, he lived in south Georgia a number of years
before moving to the Walton County area. Mr. Walker was a retired logger and
was formerly employed by Owens of Georgia. He was of the Baptist faith and
was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Lizzie Walker.
Survivors include his son, Dale Walker, Good Hope; and sisters, Jethel W.
Chumbley, Dawsonville, Geraldine W. Bell, Lawrenceville, and Pat L. Cox,
Alamo, Ga. A number of other relatives also survive.
A graveside service was held Friday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. from Brookwood
Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Waymon Carter officiating. Bearden
Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of arrangements.

Blondine Burrell
Mrs. Blondine Boling Burrell, age 85 of Jonesboro, formerly of Decatur,
Passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005.
She was raised in Jasper, Ga. and was a dedicated member of the First
Baptist church of Atlanta for 50 years. Mrs. Burrell retired from C&S Bank
after 20 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Wallace Burrell, Sr. of
Jonesboro; son, Wally Burrell, Jr. and his wife Jamie of Riverdale; brother,
Thomas Boling of Lawrenceville; and sister-in-law, Gloria Boling of Stone
Mountain. One niece and three nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 from the Chapel
of A.S. Turner & Sons with the Rev. Varon Crosby officiating. Interment was
in Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta, Ga.

Berlin Harris
Dr. Berlin Harris, a resident of East Ridge, Tn., passed away Tuesday,
Oct. 11, 2005 at his home. He was 85 years old.
Dr. Harris was a native of Pickens County, Ga., a graduate of the
University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine and came to East Ridge
in 1958 and opened his practice which he kept for 47 years. He was past
president of the Hamilton County Veterinarian Association. He held a great
love for animals of all kinds including dogs, cats, show horses, cows, and
during his lifetime he managed two farms. He was a life-long Georgia Bulldog
fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Skid and Lilly Moss Harris,
and sister, Aszelea Harris. Mr. Harris was a veteran of WW II having served
in the US Army-Air Force. He was a long-time active member of East Ridge
Baptist Church.
Dr. Harris is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Denman Harris;
children and spouses, Lynn Brooks of Loganville, Ga., Winston (Red) and wife
Angie Harris of Jasper, Ga. Chris Harris of East Ridge, Jane and husband
Chris Brock of Kingston Springs, Tn.; Phil and wife Laura Harris of
Ringgold, Ga.; brother, James Harris, Jasper; sister, Vennie Martin, also of
Jasper; sister-in-law, Judy Wiggins of Ringgold. Nine grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at the East Ridge
Baptist Church with Dr. C. Henry Preston officiating. Interment was at 3
p.m. in the Sunset Memorial Gardens of Jasper. East Chapel of Chattanooga
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Infant William Currie
Infant William Tyler “Ty” Currie of Talking Rock passed away Sunday, Oct.
2, 2005 in Cherokee County.
Survivors include his father and mother, Jeffery and Natasha Childers
Currie; brother Skyler Currie; grandparents, Jeff and Debbie Currie of
Canton and Scott and Andrea Childers of Talking Rock; great-grandparents,
Lillian Green, Roy and Evelyn Thomason, Harley and Janice Childers, Patricia
and Robert Lynch; great-great-grandfather, Theodore Childers. Aunts, uncles
and cousins also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 from the
County Line Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery
with the Revs. Jerry Banks and Roger Burgess officiating. Roper Funeral Home
in charge of arrangements.

Eugene Nichols
Mr. Eugene Nichols, age 54 of Talking Rock, passed away at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta on Friday, Oct. 17, 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Faye Nichols, Talking Rock; sons, Randy, Leroy and Eddie Nichols, all of Jasper; daughters, Regina Nichols, Jasper, and Ruby Nichols, Talking Rock; brothers, Hulon Nichols, Covington, Richard Nichols, Jasper, and Eddie Lee Nichols, Cumming; sister, Kathy Rampley, Waleska. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Revs. Randy Cloer, Joe Wayne Beal, Jamie Payne and Charles Bruce officiating. Interment followed in the Yukon Cemetery in Gilmer County. Pallbearers were:Steven and Lamar Nichols, Dexter, Carlile, Raymond Carlie, Steve Fox, Michael Edwards and Jeff Mulkey.

Nancy Ann Brown
Ms. Nancy Ann Brown, age 52 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 at her residence.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa McBee, Ellijay, Lisa Black and Amanda Derreberry, both of North Carolina; brother, David Brown, Jasper; sisters, Emily Poole, Patricia Elliott and Carolyn Poole, all of Jasper. Nine grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday from Yellow Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. William Blackwell and Sylvester Ridings officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Harry Kenner, Sr.
Mr. Harry Lee Keener, Sr., age 64 of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007.
Mr. Keener, a resident of Paulding County since 1970, owned and operated Keener Red & White Grocery Store. After receiving his real estate license he sold his store and opened Paulding Realty in 1978. He was a 40-year member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. Mr. Keener helped establish the Boys & Girls Club; was chairman of the Paulding Chamber of Commerce, 1985-86; member of the West Georgia Board of Realtors; Realtor of the year in 1990, 1994 and 1997; charter member and past president of Paulding County Civitan Club since 1971; charter member of Paulding County Home Builders Association; Paulding County Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year in 1995; and received the Chamber of Commerce Chairman’s Award for his overall contributions to the Paulding County community.
Mr. Keener was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Vickers Keener. Survivors include his son, Lee (Stacey) Keener, Dallas; mother, Mary Keener, Jasper; sisters, Betty Raines, Calhoun, Julia Mooney, Talking Rock, and Sherry Greene, Jasper; brothers, LeRoy Keener, Raleigh, N.C., Larry Keener, Talking Rock, Roy Keener, Dallas, and Harold Keener, Jasper; and grandchildren, Eric, Harrison and Sydney. Nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Pastors Steve Echols and Alton Wilson officiating. Interment was in Kennesaw Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Bellamy Funeral Home, Hiram, in charge of arrangements.

Martha Fountain
Mrs. Martha Ann Fountain, age 65 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton, Ga. following a brief illness. “Mrs. Martha,” as known by the kids, worked 26 years at Jasper Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Oliver Fountain, Talking Rock; daughters and son-in-law, Ann Fountain, Sue Mundy and Kitty and Mitchell Garland, all of Talking Rock; sons and daughter-in-law, William Fountain and Moss and Darlene Fountain, all of Talking Rock; sister, Margaret Mulkey, Canton; and brother, Lanier Moss, Jasper. Ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Mrs. Fountain was preceded in death by her parents, Otis William and Ruby Iona Moss; and sister, Patricia Wigington.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 from Antioch Baptist Church with the Revs. Buck Parker, Harold Cantrell and Marvin Chatham officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Denny Nations
Denny Nations, age 55 of Canton, Ga., passed away at the Brian Center Health & Rehab on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007.
Mr. Nations was a member of Chalcedonia Baptist Church and was employed by Atlanta Gas Light Co. as maintenance superintendent.
Survivors includes his wife, Lisa Chester Nations, Canton; son, Trent Nations, Canton; daughter, Courtney Nations, Canton; father- and mother-in-law, Grady and Katie Chester, Canton; father, George Nations, Canton; brothers, Donald and Lottie Nations and Terry and Tari Nations, all of Canton; brother- and sister-in-law, Chris and Faye Chester, Canton; aunt, Donia Nations Sams, Canton. Three nieces, one nephew and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. from Chalcedonia Baptist Church, Canton, with the Revs. Troy Milford, Jimmy Hogan, James McGaha and Eddie Parker officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Huey Funeral Home.

Mike Saye
Mr. Mike Saye, age 50 of Ball Ground, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 as the result of an accident.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Saye, Ball Ground; sons, Michael and John Saye, both of Ball Ground; daughter, Renee Blalock, Jasper; brothers, Kenneth Saye, Ellijay, and James and Henry Saye, both of Ball Ground; and sisters, Rose Mary Saye, Ball Ground, and Thelma Saye, Jasper. Two grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 5 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Burrell officiating. Interment followed in Cherokee Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Charlie Poole, Jerry Millsap, Billy Stone, Tony Pendley, Tommy Shelton and Tad Pole Evans.

Bobby Bannister
Mr. Bobby L. Bannister, age 66 of Ball Ground, passed away suddenly Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007 at his residence.
Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Hemond, Ball Ground; grandchildren, Tony and Tammy Kellogg, Jim Cook, Gauge and Daxx Hemond; and great-grandchildren, Morgan and Collin Kellogg.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Clyde Boling, Ray Mauldin and Johnny Padgett officiating. Interment was in Mica Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherokee County. Pallbearers were: Johnny, Steve, Skylar and Brenton Sperin, Phil Blackwell and Mickey Andrews. The family did accept floral arrangements or you may donate to the Arthritis Foundation.

Bill Evans
Mr. Bill (Knob) Evans, age 62 of Tate, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2007 in Cherokee County as the result of an auto accident.
Survivors include his son, Bryan Evans, Jasper; daughters, Janie Buchanan, Jasper, and Lisa Dailey, Talking Rock; step-sons, Brian Dean, Ellijay, and Edwin Dean, Cumming; step-daughters, Tammy Shook, Gainesville, and Debbie Dean, Dawsonville; brothers, Bob Evans, Tennessee, Bud and Tad Pole Evans, both of Jasper, Cotton Evans, Cumming, and Tom Evans, Tate; sisters, Evelyn Buchanan, Tate, Dorothy Heath, Linda Buchanan and Louise Evans, all of Marble Hill, Judy Baker, Douglasville, and Jean White, Canton. Eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by a sister, Janie Evans; and parents, Elbert and Ethel Evans.
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Charlie Buchanan, Brian Dean and Harold Evans officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Grady Frady, Harmon Darnell, Edwin Dean, Terry Haynes, Greg Buchanan and Bradley Cooley. Donations may be made to Cagle Funeral Home to help with the funeral expense.

Matthew Adams
Mr. Matthew Lee Adams, age 26 of Canton, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2007. He was an installer supervisor with Benson Media.
Survivors include his fiance, Tori Marcum, Canton; daughter, Layla Mackenzie Adams, Canton; mother and step-father, Pam and Joe Bodeck, Jasper; father and step-mother, Mike and Ramona Doris Adams, Waleska; brothers and sister-in-law, Jimmy Harshbarger and Brian and Sandy Harshbarger, all of Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Treena and Corey Parish, Jasper; and grandmothers, Ruth Adams, Canton, and Eunice Johnson, Ball Ground. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Larry Kelley officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Layla and Tori Fund in memory of Matthew at Cherokee Bank.

Mary Lawson
Mrs. Mary Virginia Lawson, age 76 of Nelson, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at Mountain Health Care Center.
Survivors include her son, Jack B. Lawson, Jr., Nelson; daughters, Sandra McTaggert, Jasper, and Venita Steed, Carrollton, Ga.; brothers, Bob Klein, Nelson, and Ted and Donald Klein, both of Ball Ground; sisters, Helen Brod, Far Rockaway, N.Y., Elaine Williams, Niceville, Fl., and Gail Jones, Marble Hill. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. LeRoy Blackwell officiating. Interment was in Cherokee Memorial Gardens.

Mary Sanders
Mary Pearl Hatcher Sanders, age 83, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 6, 2007. She was born in Crisp County near Cordele, Ga. on Sept. 2, 1924 to Thomas Ewell and Ethel Lula Hutchins Hatcher and was the seventh of ten children.
Mrs. Sanders graduated from Pitts High School, Pitts, Ga., in 1941, received a BA degree from Mercer University in 1978 at the age of 54, a Master of Education degree from West Georgia College in 1985 at the age of 61 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Logos Graduate School in 1999 at the age of 75.
On May 6, 1944 she married Tom Watson Sanders who passed away on Dec. 12, 1981.
Survivors include her older brother, T.E. Hatcher, Fitzgerald, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Sanders and Jack Burns, Brownwood, Tx., and Linda and Wayne Steele, Waxhaw, N.C.; grandchildren, Donald Alan Burns and wife Valerie, Little Rock, Ar., Ruthie Steele Frazier and husband James, Brussels, Belgium, Andrew Steele, San Diego, Ca., and Jamie Christopher Hayes and wife Jessica, Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Kevin Christopher and Kayla Christine Burns, Little Rock, Ar. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Nancy Sanders Hayes in 2004; six sisters and two brothers.
The funeral service was held at Cagle Funeral Home in Jasper on Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. with Guinn Jenkins from Calvary Chapel in Alpharetta and Pastor Jerrold Young from Jasper Church of God officiating. Interment was in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, Ga.

Oma Fowler
Mrs. Oma Davenport Fowler, age 89 of Blue Ridge, passed away Thursday,
Oct. 13, 2005 at Union County Nursing Home.
Oma was born Saturday, Jan. 15, 1916 in Fannin County, Ga. to the late
Larkin and Lizzie Tilley Davenport. She was a member of The O’Zion Baptist
Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Fowler.
Survivors include her daughters, Vickie Forrester of Blairsville, Ga. and
Janie Whitfield of Jasper; brother, Carl Davenport of Blue Ridge; sisters,
Leesta and Loraine Davenport, both of Blue Ridge, and Vesta Duval of
Nashville, Ga. Nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. from the Henry
Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Charlie Mull and Jerry D. Johnson
officiating. Music was provided by Patsy Beaver and James McGill. Interment
followed in The O’Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael
Beavers, Hoyt Campbell, Hubert, Donald and W.C. Stewart, James McGill and
Michael Pope. Honorary pallbearers were J.T. Duvall, Gerald Prewett and Andy
Stephens.

Florence Bozeman
Mrs. Florence L. Bozeman, age 89 of Canton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23,
2005 at Brian Nursing Center in Canton.
Survivors include a special niece, Martha Carol Henson, Canton; nieces
and nephews; sister-in-law, Helen Bozeman. Mrs. Bozeman was preceded in
death by her husband, Clayborn Bozeman.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 from Four Mile
Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Horace Smithwick and Billy Edmondson
officiating. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Deborah Price
Mrs. Deborah Price, age 48 of Marietta, passed away Thursday, Oct. 20,
2005 at her residence.
Survivors include her mother and step-father, Ann and Richard Reid,
Macon; father, Clark Alliston, Macon; son, Clark Price, Marietta; daughter,
Laurie Price, Marietta; mother-in-law, Brenda Price, Jasper; sister, Sandra
Wilder, Fairmount.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 from the Chapel of
Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Harris and Chaplain Ed Cook
officiating.

Oscar Robertson
Mr. Oscar Robertson “Rock Man,” age 81 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away
Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005.
Mr. Robertson, widely known throughout North Georgia as the “Rock Man,”
spent six decades collecting rocks, gems and minerals from throughout the
world. In 1976 he was instrumental in having Staurolite designated as the
official Georgia State Mineral.
Survivors include his daughters, Janice Prather and Judy Thomas, both of
Canton; brothers, Thomas Robertson of Jefferson, Charles Robertson of
Jonesborough and Russell Robertson of Ball Ground; sister, Zennalee
Disharoon of Lithia Springs; grandchildren, Jody and Julie Prather and
Justin Thomas, all of Canton; and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Pierson
Sears, both of Canton.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. from Old
Damascus Baptist Church in Cherokee County with the Rev. James Rich
officiating. The Pickens Chapter #47 DAV was in charge of graveside rights.
Roper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
