Mrs. Louise Mapp
Mrs. Louise Mapp, 71, of Gordon Court, Tampa, Fla., died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Mrs. Mapp was born March 8, 1930 in Heard County, Ga. She was a homemaker, wife and mother.

The family was receiving friends at McKoon Funeral Home Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home chapel Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. Dr. Tim Driggers and Dr. James L. Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Darren Cooper, Perry Merrill, Brian Ross, Eric Ross, Michael Rucker and James Whatley.

Surviving are her husband, Curtis Melvin Mapp of Tampa, Fla.; daughters, Betty Sue Cooper, Marinell Rucker of Brandon, Fla., and Dessia Louise Whatley of Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary "Euca" Pannell
Mrs. Mary "Euca" Pannell, 87, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, February 25, 2002 at Fairburn Health Care Center in Fairburn, Ga.

"Euca," as she was known to all of her friends, was born to Burk and Mary Ward in Sargent, Ga. in 1914. She spent all of her life in the Newnan area and attended East Newnan Baptist Church as often as her health allowed. She loved to sew and cook and will best be remembered for her large "Sunday" dinners that everyone attended, her love for God and her constant Bible reading and praying.

Mrs. Pannell was married to the late Mr. Alfred Pannel for more than 50 years at his death.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry Pannell and wife Marie, and Bobby Pannell, both of Newnan, Ga.; sister, Elva Brooks of Moreland, Ga.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home Wednesday evening, Feb. 27 from 6-8 p.m

A funeral will be at graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, with the Rev. Frank Powers officiating.

Mrs. Mary Ann Rushing, 86, of Orr Road, Sharpsburg, died February 24, 2002 at Tanner Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Ga.

Mrs. Rushing was born December 18, 1915 in Putnam County, Ga., daughter of the late Lonnie Rushing and Fannie "Denton" Rushing. She had worked as a seamstress and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of LaGrange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry G. Pate.

A funeral will be held at Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Steve Harper will officiate. Burial will be in Sargent Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Earlene Strickland and Mrs. Merelene Thaxton, both of Sharpsburg; three sons, Mr. Robert Putnam of Senoia, Mr. Charles Putnam of Conyers, Ga. and Mr. Grady Pate of Newnan; sister, Mrs. Sally Flowers of Blue Ridge, Ga.; two brothers, Mr. Jack Rushing of LaGrange and Mr. Barnell Rushing of Lanett, Ala.; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lowery was born March 27, 1948 in Fulton County.

Master Andre Lanard Melson, Jr. (Lil Dre) died February 18, 2002.

A funeral was held Feb. 21 at The Eastview Cemetery. Elder Frankie Key officiated. Andre Melson Jr. was born January 18, 1999.

Mrs. Mary George Staley, 79, of Hogansville, Ga., died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Kenneth Linnell will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Born January 5, 1923, in Troup County, Mrs. Staley was the daughter of the late Ridley and Annie Wood Parham. She was a lifelong resident of Troup County, retired as a laboratory technician from Uniroyal, Inc., and was a member of St.James United Methodist Church in Hogansville.

Surviving are several niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Owen W. Smith and L. M. (Dick) Staley, and by three sons, Joey Layne Smith, Michael Owen Smith and an infant son.

Mr. Cranford Leo Addison
Mr. Cranford Leo Addison, 75, of Newnan, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Addison was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Randolph County, Ala., to the late Frank and Bessie "Walker" Addison. He was an auto technician for Gentry Motor Company, and was a member of Victory Tabernacle.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael E. Addison.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. The Rev. Terry Calhoun will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Addison, Jason Addison, Russell Addison, Randy Grant, Harold Thornton, and Bruce Bearden.

Mr. Starling Maxwell Austin
Mr. Starling Maxwell "Max" Austin of Newnan died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002.

Mr. Austin was a graduate of Newnan High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology. A member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Austin was retired from the Chevron Corporation.

Mr. Austin's remains were cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date.

Surviving is his sister, Mrs. Helen Austin Callaway of Newnan.

Mrs. Troyce Herndon Murphy Drake
Mrs. Troyce Herndon Murphy Drake, 77, of Newnan, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at LaGrange Hospice in LaGrange, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Drake was born in Meriwether County in 1924 to the late Virgil and Mildred Herndon. She spent most of her life in and around Pearson, Georgia, where her family owned and operated the Drake Theater. She was a life long member of the Pearson Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Drake will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a doting grandmother, and a loyal friend.

Mrs. Drake was preceded in death by her husbands, Anthony Murphy and Chester A. Drake, and five siblings: Roger Herndon, Bernice Maxwell, Thurla Drake, Virgilene Thornton, and J.M. Herndon.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. Winston Skinner will officiate, and burial will be in the Alvaton Baptist Church Cemetery in Alvaton.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, Feb. 26, from 5:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Joe Nathan Terrell
Mr. Joe Nathan "Nay" Terrell, 76, of Franklin, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Terrell was born June 5, 1925, in Heard County to the late Cleophus and Martha Stephen Terrell. He joined the Heard Wesley United Methodist Church at an early age. Mr. Terrell was well known as the "Barbecue King" for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Tucker Terrell. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

A funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Heard Wesley United Methodist Church in Franklin. The Rev. Frank Dean will officiate, assisted by the Revs. R.W. Sutton and O.L. Wood, and Missionary Sadie Echols. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Echols, Cleophus Echols, Willie Lee Terrell, Harold Arnold, and Willie David Beasley. Flower ladies will be selected.

Surviving are his step-daughter, Ruby Almon of Newnan; grandchildren Joe Almon, Adron Almon, Nicholas Nelson, and Samuel and Renee White, all of Newnan, Adrian and Angela Haugabrook of Framingham, Mass., and Tracy and Stephanie Jenkins of Woodbury; 10 great-grandchildren; four nieces; eight nephews; sister-in-law Jessie Mae Terrell; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Steven Michael Way
Mr. Steven "Steve" Michael Way, 19, of Newnan, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, of natural causes.

Mr. Way was born in Logansport, Ind. He attended Logansport High School before moving to Newnan in 1999. He graduated from Newnan High School in 2000.

Mr. Way was an active member of First Christian Church of Newnan, where he was baptized and accepted Christ as his savior. He was proud of his walk with and his love of God. His devotion was evident as he practiced the second great command of caring for his neighbor. Mr. Way preached on Youth Day at the church, and loved to help people and share his faith with them. He had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and was every kid's big brother.

A funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. Clay Henry will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jim Buck Gann
Mr. Jim Buck Gann, 87, of Newnan, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Newnan Hospital.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend James Calhoun and the Reverend Floyd Durrough will officiate. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

Mr. Gann was born Oct. 31, 1914, in Haralson County, the son of the late Robert and Lizzie Ayers Gann. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Gann had lived in Newnan for 60 years and was retired from Douglas and Lomason Company.

Survivors include one daughter, Louise Agan of Hogansville; four sons and three daughter-in-laws, the Reverend Harry and Eloise Gann and William and Joyce Gann, all of Luthersville, Robert and Carolyn Gann of Hogansville, and Richard Gann of Newnan; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Eva Louise Jordan Gann.

Mr. Joseph Green of Rawson Road in Sharpsburg, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at William Breman Jewish Home. Born Jan. 2, 1921, in England, Mr. Green was a retired salesman. Mr. Green will be cremated at the West Georgia Crematory.

Survivors include his wife, Daveda S. Green of Sharpsburg; two sons, Ian Green of London and Stephen H. Green of Sharpsburg; and one grandchild, Rachel Green.

Steven "Steve" Michael Way
Steven Michael Way, 19, of Newnan, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, of natural causes. Mr. Way was a 2000 graduate of Newnan High School.

Mrs. Allie Mae Wortham, 90, of Welcome Road, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center. Born Feb. 10, 1912, Mrs. Wortham was a homemaker and a member of Elim Baptist Church.

Visitation was Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at McKoon Funeral Home, with Reverend Ken Norton officiating. Burial will be at the Elim Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Elim Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1529 Handy Road, Newnan, Ga. 30263.

Mr. James A. Hansard, 76, of Newnan, died Friday, February 22 at Atlanta Medical Center.

Mr. Hansard was born September 16, 1925 in Douglas County, Ga. He was a mechanic and a veteran of the United States armed forces.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 24 from 1-2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan.

A funeral will be in McKoon's chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be a reception at the home immediately following. Officiating at the service will be James Green. The remains are being cremated.

Mrs. Andrea Jill Conner Jarrard, 31, of Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. died Feb. 21, 2002 in Gainesville following an extended illness.

Mrs. Jarrard was born Sept. 27, 1970 in Gainesville, the only daughter of Phillip and Patsy Conner. She married Jamie Jarrard on Jan. 8, 1994 in Gainesville. Jamie and Jill Jarrard spent their married life in Georgia, Hawaii, North Carolina and Alabama because of his Army career.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville.

The funeral service will be Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville.

Mrs. Etta Brown Owensby of Marietta, Ga., formerly of Newnan, died February 20, 2002, at Integrated Health Services in Marietta.

She was the youngest child of the late John and Mary Brown, and sister of the late Zola Johnson and Jennie Mae Henderson.

Local survivors are Byrdie Geter and Bobbie Henderson.

A funeral will be Monday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Marietta with Rev. James P. McCleskey officiating.

Mr. Carl Wilson Skinner
Mr. Carl Wilson Skinner, 69, of Franklin, Ga., died Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Portsbridge Hospice in Riverdale, Ga.

Mr. Skinner was born July 31, 1932 in Lawrence County, Tennessee. He served his country honorably in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army from which he retired as a staff sergeant. He was awarded the Korean Service Mdeal, the UN Service Ribbon, and the Purple Heart. He was a Mason, and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edith Marie Nutt Skinner and Paul Wilson Skinner.

Surviving are daughter, Deborah Skinner of LaGrange, Ga.; two grandsons, mathew Stephens of Franklin, Ga. and Shanon Stephens of Sharpsburg, Ga.; two great-granddaughters.

A funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin, Ga. with the Rev. Cecil Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Olive Branch Cemetery.

Mr. Joe Nathan Terrell of Franklin, Ga. died Friday, February 22, 2002 at his residence.

Mrs. Laura R. Glise
Mrs. Laura Rugel Glise, 52, of Olympia, Washington died Saturday, February 15, 2002, at her home following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Glise was born July 30, 1949 in San Marcos, Texas, daughter of Charline M. Angermann Rugel and the late Charles E. Rugel II. She graduated from Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas. She earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Memphis and a master of education degree from State University of West Georgia.

Mrs. Glise was an accomplished artist. She received numerous awards for her work, and had pieces exhibited in group and individual shows. Several times in her career as an artist, Mrs. Glise received the Strathmore Graphics Gallery Award and the Beckett Design Award.

A gifted writer, Mrs. Glise's writings were published in numerous periodicals. Last year her book, "Across the Seasons," a novel about mountain men of the 1830s, was published.

Mrs. Glise was a community activist and was a charter member of Memphis Artist Equity.

She was a contributing force for development and realization of the Erskine Caldwell Birthplace and Museum in Moreland, Ga. She wrote grants for the Caldwell museum and other organizations, with which she was involved. She also lectured in several Georgia cities about Caldwell.

Mrs. Glise was a member of the National Education Association, Women Writers of America, the Western Writers Association and the Mountain Man Association.

Most recently, Mrs. Glise was employed as a media specialist at Centralia Middle School. She earlier was media specialist for several years at Northside Elementary School in Coweta County. At both schools, she touched countless lives with her creative and innovative teaching methods.

A memorial service will be held today at 4 p.m. in the Forest Funeral Home Chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Olympia. A second memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church in Newnan on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 3:30 p.m.

Burial will be March 2 in San Marcos.

Survivors include her husband, LTC Phillip Glise of Olympia; daughter, Sayward Glise of Olympia; mother, Charline A. Rugel of Destin, Florida; and siblings, Mary Kay Santulli, Charles E. Rugel III and Kathleen Perze-Leon.

Mrs. Etta Brown Owensby of Marietta, formerly of Newnan, Ga., died February 20, 2002 at the Integrated Health Services in Marietta, Ga.

She was the youngest daughter of the late John and Mary Brown and sister of the late Zola Johnson and Jennie Mae Henderson. She was the aunt of Bobbie Henderson and Byrdie Henderson Geter.

A funeral will be announced later by Hanley-Shelton Funeral Home in Marietta.

Mrs. Peggy Frost Shuman
Mrs. Peggy Frost Shuman, 67, of Riverdale, Ga. and formerly of Hapeville, Ga., died Tuesday, February 19, 2002.

Mrs. Shuman was a retired Air Information Specialist and Delta Airlines employee for more than 35 years.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at First Baptist Church Jonesboro at 4 p.m. in the chapel. The family will visit with friends following the service. Pastor Dean Haun will officiate.

Surviving are Mrs. Shuman's husband of 48 years, E. Wade Shuman. Also surviving are their children Alan R. Shuman of Cedartown, Michael S. Shuman of Powder Springs and Vicki S. Clements of Sharpsburg.

Also surviving are mother-in-law, Anna Jeanne Weldon of Hapeville; sister, Verna Little of East Point; brother, Gary P. Frost of Tyrone; seven grandchildren, Jason Shuman, Autumn English, Ryan Shuman, Harrison English, Matthew Shuman, Jesse Wade Shuman and Mikaelynn Shuman.

The family has asked that flowers be omitted and donations made to the American Lung Association of Georgia, 2452 Spring Road, S.E., Smyrna, Ga. 30080.

Cremation Society of Georgia is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. George N. Spradlin Jr., 75, of Hogansville, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at his home.

A funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. James Calhoun will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Born December 17, 1926 in Hogansville, Mr. Spradlin was the son of the late George and Corrie Mae Hay Spradlin. He served eight years in the U.S. Navy and nine years in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of World War Two and the Korean War. He was a past commander of the Hogansville American Legion Post, attended Trinity Worship Center of Hogansville, and was retired from Southern States Co. in Newnan. In 1943, Mr. Spradlin was one of the first three Boy Scouts in Hogansville to earn the Eagle Scout award.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edwin Colemon Spradlin of Hogansville; two daughters, Mr. Linda Wimbish of Carey, N.C. and Mrs. Wanda Maconof Tacoma, Wash.; step-daughter and her husband, Nancy and Art Raven of Lyman, S.C.; two brothers, Kenneth Spradlin and Charles Spradlin, both of Hogansville; four grandchildren, Silas Macon of Tacoma, John Phillips of Birmingham, Ala., Zachary Masdon of Lyman, and Debbie and Richard Wade of LaGrange; two great-granddaughters.

Mrs. Velma Parks Stevens
Mrs. Velma Parks Stevens, 81, died Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at her residence.

Mrs. Parks was born June 6, 1920 in Greenville (Meriwether County) Ga., daughter of Howard Parks and Lillie Rosser Parks, both of whom preceded her in death. She is the last of 13 children; one grandson, Royce, and a son-in-law, Frank, preceded her in death.

At an early age she joined the Lavis Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church.

A funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, Goldmine Road in Grantville, with the Rev. Clinton Melson officiaitng, assisted by the Rev. Johnny Strickland, Rev. L. Jemenson, Rev. Emmitt Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers and flower attendants.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Stevens; three daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Dorothy Rosser (Leon) of Grantville, Ms. Betty Stevens Langford (Willie) of Moreland, Ga., Ms. Julia Ann Hall of Luthersville, Ga., Willie Robert Stevens Jr. of Moreland; six grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Stevens (Deborah) of Grantville, Corey Stevens of Grantville, Mr. and Mrs. Kesia Colton (James) of Grantville, Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Stevens (Kimberlee) of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Tamekia Sivell (Adrin) of Union City, Daryl Frank Hall of Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren; god-daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Annie Godfrey (John) of Greenville, Ga.; adopted daughter Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Woods (Hugh) of Newnan; sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Betty Tigner Pothress (Anderson) of Grantville, Ga.; first cousin, Mrs. Elmira Thrash of Greenville; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Opal Chappell Bonner, 88, of Hogansville, Ga., died Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Hospice LaGrange.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Milton Hall and the Rev. Jesse Sims will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Smith, Mark Smith, Steve Spradlin, David Spradlin, John Spradlin, Jeff Fowler, Dennis Montgomery and Sidney Spradlin Jr.

Mrs. Bonner was born March 14, 1913 in Coweta County, daughter of the late Aaron and Lucy Wilson Chappell. She lived in the Hogansville area most of her life, was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, and retired from Uniroyal Inc. after 37 years of service. Mrs. Bonner was the wife of the late George H. Spradlin and the late Joe J. Bonner.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and M. P. Smith Jr., Janet and Jimmy Barber, and Janice and Tyrone Montgomery, all of Hogansville; three sons and daughters-in-law, J. C. and Evelyn Spradlin of Carrollton, Howell and Nadine Spradlin and Sidney and Nancy Spradlin, all of Hogansville; sister, Mrs. Martha Massengale of Greenville; step-brother, Aaron Young of Newnan; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Harold S. Cochran, 68, of Atlanta and a native of Hogansville, died Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Hospice Atlanta.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Wesley Boatman will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Cochran was born March 10, 1933 in Troup County, son of the late Lucious T. and Pearl Parks Cochran. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and had lived in the Atlanta area since 1955. He was a retired accountant from Continental Insurance Company in Atlanta and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Rachel Pitts of Columbus; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion and Mary Cochran of Ellenwood, Carl and Barbara Cochran of Douglasville, and Ralph and Mildred Cochran of Covington; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. James Dillard "Pop" Hewell, Sr. 59, of Memphis, Tennessee, formerly of Sargent, Georgia, died Sunday, February 3, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, TN.

A funeral was held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Darry Walker Sr. officiating. Burial was in the Shelby County Cemetery. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Hewell is preceded in death by his parents the late Jettie Carl Hewell and Gladys Estelle Camp Hewell, of Hogansville, Ga., formerly of Sargent. He was the grandson of the late James Dillard "Uncle Dill" and Hattie Estelle Teate Camp of Sargent, and the late Henry Guy Hewell and Robert T. and Maybelle Toney Bradberry of Athens.

He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Sonnerman, and a son, James Dillard Hewell Jr. both of Memphis; two sisters, Mr. & Mrs. Bonnie (Lynn) Steele of Franklin, Ga,. and Rev. & Mrs. J. Darry (Anne) Walker Sr. of Gay, Ga.; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Louise Blandenburg Wright died Monday, February 18, 2002 at her residence.

Mrs. Wright was wife of the late Virgil Wright and daughter of the late James and Lillian Lynch Blandenburg. She graduated from the Reid's Business College of Atlanta and retired from Newnan Hospital as an Emergency O.R. Technician with 32 years of service. She was a life-long member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.

A funeral will be held at graveside Thursday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. in Sunset Cemetery with Rev. Child officiating. The cortege will assemble at the home of her sister, Mrs. Lucille Swanson, at 10 a.m.

Surviving are her sister, Lucille B. Swanson; niece, Angela Jones of Detroit, Michigan; daughter, Yolando Daley (Diwin), Ni'elah, Diwin Jr. of Atlanta, Renard, Terence, Lawrence of Detroit, Michigan; nephew, Kelvin Swanson (Sandra); son, Sherrard Swanson; aunts, Ceola Willoughby, Louvenia Varner, Gussie and Pace Lark of Daytona, Ohio; uncles, Henry Lynch of New York (Carrie) and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Frances Fain Hulme, 81, of Wesley Woods, Lindsey Barron Drive, Newnan, died Monday, Feb. 18 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Hulme was born July 6, 1920 in Calhoun, Ga. She worked in the legal department of Atlanta Federal Bank. She is predeceased by her husband, Woodfin Hulme and her parents, William Davis Fain and Annie Bullard Fain.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Thursday, Feb. 21 from 10-11 a.m.

A funeral will be Thursday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. in McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Dr. Joel E. Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in New Park Cemetery in Fort Gaines, Ga. at 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 14 West Broad Street, Newnan, Ga. 30263.

Surviving are 16 nieces and nephews.

Mr. William Parker "Bill" Johnson
Mr. William Parker "Bill" Johnson, 69, attorney at law, of West Club Drive, Carrollton, Ga., died Monday, February 18, 2002 at his residence.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Coweta County, born November 10, 1932, son of the late Alton Parker Johnson and Gladys Bradbury Johnson. He graduated from Moreland High School, received his BA from West Georgia College in 1951 and his law degree from the University of Georgia in 1954 and served in the United States Army 1954-1956. He began practicing law with Boykin and Boykin in the fall of 1956, started his practice in 1963 in the old Peoples Bank Building, practicing law for 45 years in Carrollton. Law partners through the years were Hollis Johnson, Gene Beckham, Sam Price, Carl Prince, Bob Dangle, Tom Parmer and presently in the Johnson, Word, Simmons Law Practice are Jerry Word, Mary Ellen Simmons Pope and associate Jason Swindle. He was the Carroll County Attorney for 16 years. He qualified as an attorney and councilor with the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1959, was a member of the American Judiciary Society, a board member of the Community Bank (Regions Bank) and the Peoples Bank of West Georgia (United Community Bank), a member of the First Baptist Church, a Mason and Shriner, an officer in the Lions Club and Jaycees.

Surviving are wife, Ramona Teal Johnson, Carrollton; daughter, Angela Lee Johnson, Asheville, North Carolina; son, Alton Parker Johnson II, Carrollton.

Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Carrollton, with Minister Allen Howard, Dr. Steve Davis and Dr. Woodrow Hudson officiating.

The family was receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Garner, Dennis McDowell, Jimmy McDowell, Herschel Parmer, Dr. Alvin Crews, Tim Warren, Jimmy Baxley, Aubrey Duffey, Charles Moore and Reginald Johnson.

Honorary escorts will be judges and attorneys of the Coweta Judicial Circuit.

In accordance with his wishes his body was cremated.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association, c/o Mary Parkman, 999 North Highway 113, Carrollton, GA 30117 or to Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1136, Carrollton, Ga. 30117.
