Graveside services for Alfornia “Al” Buchanan, 47, 45 Glem Drive, Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Peaceful Rest Cemetery, North Pinetree Boulevard, Thomasville. The Rev. Walter Marria, pastor of Westside Church of Christ, and the Rev. T.C. Mitchell Jr., pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Mr. Buchanan died May 9 at his residence. Born April 13, 1959, in Thomasville, he was a son of Samuel W. Buchanan and the late Mary Ann Glenn Buchanan. He was a 1977 graduate of Thomasville High School and was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Buchanan was a disabled veteran after serving in the U.S. Army for four years. Survivors include Samuel W. Buchanan; sisters, Yvonne B. Armster, Patricia B. Palmore both of Thomasville; wife, Paula D. Buchanan of Thomasville; brothers, Samuel L. Buchanan (Beverly) of Acworth, Norris L. Buchanan, Eddie J. Buchanan both of Atlanta; nephew, Yusef M. Armster (Kim) of Atlanta; nieces, Kashuntra C. Jones, Shiranda N. On Dec. 23, 1983, in Thomasville she married Herbert Rayburn who survives. Mrs. Rayburn attended Thomasville High School and was a homemaker. She was the owner of Doris’s Home Cooking and was a very talented seamstress for many years. Interment is Saturday, May 13, 2006, in DeLand, Fla. Mrs. Taylor, currently a resident of Thomasville, previously lived in Newport News, Va. for more than 50 years where she worked for a time at the Mariner’s Museum and was a first grade teacher for 30 years. She was married to the late Walter Frank Taylor, an engineer at the Hydraulics Laboratory of the Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock Company and a charter member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Thomasville. She was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. C. H. Bolton of Avon Park, Fla. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the St. Matthews Anglican Church of Newport News. She was a graduate of Stetson University in Florida where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and she held a master’s degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. A generous, creative, and beautiful Christian lady, Mrs. Taylor leaves a legacy of friendship and love through the many lives she touched. She is survived by her sister, Annette Bolton Clark and brother-in-law, R. Lewis Clark; nieces, Carolyn Warren of St. Petersburg, Fla., S. Lynn Clark of Ellijay; her nephews, Charles H. Born Nov. 28, 1940, in Moultrie, he was a son of the late Edwina Davis and James W. Harris. On June 20, 1971, he married June Ring, who survives. He served in the United States Army from July 1966 to July 1968 and was of the Baptist belief. Mr. Harris loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He was a retired electronic technician with Sears. In addition to his wife, June, he was survived by two sons, Edward Harris and his wife, Laurie of Norman Park, Ashley Harris and his fiancée, Heather Owen of Ricon; a daughter, Kimberly Harris of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Barbara Payne of Galveston, Texas, Laverne Willis of Crawfordville, Fla., Martha Vick of Hitchcock, Texas; grandchildren, Rodney Harris and his wife Latoya, of Moultrie, Voncile Gibbs and her husband, Robby of Norman Park, Crystal Harris, Travis Harris; and two great-granddaughters.
