William L. ‘Bill’ Miller

Services for William L. “Bill” Miller, 78, 1801 4th St. S.E., Moultrie, are 2 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The Dr. Michael Helms and Mr. Jim Hardy will officiate and interment is at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are James Grogan, Homer Salter, Rob Gilchrist, Jeffery Miller, Joe Roberts, Cecil Law, Jason Miller and Brad Shealey. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Alex Hall Sunday School Class. Miller was born in Colquitt County on Dec. 6, 1927, to the late Beulah Price Clark and David F. Clark. He was a butcher for 44 years and retired from Swift & Co. Miller was a member of Trinity Baptist church and served as Secretary of the Alex Hall Sunday School Class and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of World War II. Miller served in the 11th Airborn Division during Army occupation of Japan as a lineman and was 1st SGT. in the Army National Guard for six years. He died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Survivors include wife of 55 years, Dorothy Roberts Miller of Moultrie; sons, David Miller and wife Susan of Valdosta and William E. “Bill” Miller and wife Cathy of Moultrie; daughter, Cheryl Ann Miller of Orange Park, Fla.; sister, Virginia Beverly and husband John T. of Moultrie; brother, Leamon Miller of Atlanta; grandchildren, Jeffery Miller, Jason Miller, Tyler Moser, Melanie Turner, Amy Miller and Savannah Miller; and, great-grandchildren Brooke Turner, Alex Turner, Alexis Turner and Jaina Turner. Delano G. Smith

Services for Delano G. Smith “BeyBey,” 58, of Thomasville, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark AME Church in Thomasville. The Rev. E.X. King, pastor, will officiate and Rev. Isaiah Waddy will deliver the eulogy. Interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers are classmates of Douglass High School Class of 1964, American Legion Post 519. Smith was born on March 30, 1047, in Thomas County to parents Hazel and Joe Smith. He was a 1964 graduate of Douglass High School, where he excelled as a trumpet player in the school band. Smith furthered his education in music by attending Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Fla., and Albany State University in Albany. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged from the Marines with the rank of Corporal E-4. Smith was a member of St. Mark AME Church. He died Thursday at Brownwood Nursing Home in Moultrie. Survivors include his parents of Thomasville; daughter, Montresa Hawkins of Springfield, Va.; granddaughter, Haley Breaux of Springfield, Va.; sister, Hazel Beaty (J.P.) of Fayetteville; brothers, Joseph Smith (Louise) of Riverdale, Md., Jerome Smith (Doaries) of Beachton and Rudolph Smith of Atlanta; uncles, Ralph Hall of Washington, D.C. and Adam Hall of Thomasville; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ronald Allen Wiggins

Graveside services for Ronald Allen Wiggins, of Thomasville, are 11 a.m. Monday at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Carl Dunn will officiate. Wiggins was born in Thomas County on Sept. 28, 1953, to the late James W. Wiggins and Blanche Williams Wiggins, of Thomasville. He was a United States Marines Vietnam Veteran. Wiggins lived in Thomasville for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He died Friday at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Survivors include daughters, Amber Mulders of Tampa, Fla., and Mary and Atlanta Johnson of Thomasville; son, Cody Wiggins of Thomasville; brothers, James Wiggins of Thomasville and Robert Wiggins of Woodville, Fla.; sister, Mary Denham of Boaz, Ala.; granddaughter Keira Howell of Tampa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald W. Wiggins (his twin) and Joe Wiggins. Visitation is today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. - Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home

John Wright Davison Jr.

Services with military honors for John Wright Davison Jr., 80, 205 McKinley St., Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at St. Luke CME Church, 305 Chatham Drive, Thomasville. The Rev. James N. Greene Jr., pastor officiating, and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Randolph Davison, Kyle Davison, Carlton Bryant, Paul McIntyre, Kenneth Jackson, Walter Marria and Kenneth Hayes. Honorary pallbearers are stewards and trustees of St. Luke CME Church. Mr. Davison died Feb. 12 at Archbold Medical Center. Born Dec. 18, 1925, in Thomas County, he was a son of the late John Wright Davison Sr. and Alberta Miller Davison Ponder and stepfather, Willie Ponder. He was a graduate of Douglass High School, retired from Flowers Baking Co. and was lifetime resident of Thomasville. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He was a member of St. Luke CME Church where he served on the trustee board. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mae Davison of Thomasville; Debra (Carlton) Bryant, Teresa Ross all of Thomasville; son, Randolph Davison of Thomasville; daughter, Beadie Louise Davison of Loganville; granddaughters, Tiffany Ross of Atlanta, Tia Ross, Jasmine Davison, Shannon Davison all of Gainesville, Fla., Miya Bryant of Thomasville; grandson, Kyle Davison Bryant of Thomasville; brother, Homer (Willie Mae) Hayes of Thomasville; sister, Mildred (Edward) Bryant of Miami, Fla.; sister-in-law, Mary Davenport of Neptune, N.J.; special cousins, Carrie Mae Johnson, Maureen Thomas, Nasouri Johnson all of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Joy O’Neal Gay Haskins

Services for Joy O’Neal Gay Haskins, Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Darrell Owens will officiate and interment is in Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. Active pallbearers are Jared Messer, Jamie Messer, Jeffery Messer, Timmy Gay, Michael Rucks and Chris Suarez. Honorary pallbearer is Dalton Gay. Mrs. Haskins died Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Archbold Hospital. Born Aug. 17, 1943, in Quitman, she was a daughter of the late John O’Neal and the late Irene Anglin and the youngest of seven brothers and sisters all of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 29, 1979, she married William Monroe Haskins who survives. She was of the Pentecostal faith and an active member of Forest Acres Full Gospel Church in Thomasville. She had participated and worked for several years with a local community club helping and supporting different projects within the community. She was an employee of Warnaco Corporation for 12 years before retiring. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Rhonda Gay of Boston; son, Wendell Todd Gay of Waycross; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Messer Lara and husband, Cleo of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Alexander Mack is pastor. Bishop Annie Mack will officiate and interment is in Crestview Cemetery. Born Nov. 24, 1915, she was a member of Zion Hill M.B. Church until she became ill and went to live with her daughters. She attended the Grady County School System. Survivors include daughters, Helen Johnson of Philadelphia, Pa., Ludie B. Gibson of Chapel Hill, Md., Odessa Calhoun of Thomasville, Annie Mack of Temple Hills, Md., Effie Quander of Temple Hills; sons, James Solomon of Cairo, A.B. Solomon of Thomasville, L.C. Solomon of Thomasville; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Evangelist Loretha Johnson-Blalock will officiate and interment is in Evergreen Cemetery in Pavo. Active pallbearers are nephews. Mr. Arrington died Feb. 4 at Brian Center Health and Rehab. Born Sept. 20, 1938, in Thomas County, he was a son of the late Les Arrington and Mary Lee McMillan Arrington. He was a graduate of Magnolia High School and a member of Sweetfield Baptist Church. He had lived in Okeechobee, Fla. prior to moving to Thomasville 18 months ago. Survivors include brothers, Lester (Margaret) Arrington of Orlando, Fla., Willie B. (Earnestine) Arrington of Boynton Beach, Fla.; sisters, Susie Bevard, Bessie Arrington both of Thomasville; brother, Maurice (Verna) Arrington of Thomasville; sisters, Lois Arrington of Fort White, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Christopher J. Borrows Sr.

Services for Christopher J. Borrows Sr. of Pavo are at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jessie Corbett will officiate and interment is in Enon Cemetery. Mr. Borrows died Feb. 9 at his residence. Born Nov. 24, 1972, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late George Joseph Borrows and Juanita Moore Borrows, who survives, in Thomasville. On Nov. 4, 2004, in Thomasville, he married Shelli Cobb Borrows who survives. He was a carpenter for Thigpen Construction. Other survivors include sons, Christopher J. Born Nov. 7, 1912, in Thomasville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Brown and Katie Hewitt Brown. She was a graduate of Douglass High School and New York School of Millenery. She was a retired New York police precinct receptionist and had lived in Thomasville for five years after moving from New York, N.Y. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, served in the Edith Hill Mission and was a member of Guiling Light Club. She was a life member of Douglass High School Alumni Association Inc. and a member of NAACP. Survivors include neices and nephews, Rudolph (Elizabeth) Elzy, Grace Cooney, Alma (Leroy) Donald all of Thomasville, Edwin (Laverna) Elzy of Columbus, Lemuel Elzy of Marietta, Leo (JoAnn) Elzy of Boston; great-nieces and nephews, Lydia Andrews of Duluth, Melody (Ralph) Walton of Lawrenceville, Rudolph A. Hayley Yvonne Grantham

Hayley died Feb. 8 at Hospice House in Tallahassee, Fla. She had lived most of her life in Monticello. She attended Aucilla Christian Academy where she was an honorary member of the varsity cheerleading team. She loved T-ball, fishing and Tae Kwon Do. She attended Abundant Life Harvest Church of Monticello. Survivors include her parents, Perry and Tracie Grantham of Monticello; maternal grandparents, Larry and Nancy Shiver of Monticello; paternal grandparents, Sandy and Wayne Grantham of Thomasville; and numerous loving friends and classmates. Frank Richard ‘Rick’ Miller Jr.

Services for Frank Richard Miller Jr. are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville. A memorial sevice follows at Cross of Life Lutheran Chruch in Roswell. Interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville. Mr. Miller died February 9 at Northside-Forsyth Hospital in Cumming. He was born Dec. 14, 1955, in Corona, Calif., the son of Charlotte Pomeroy Miller and the late Dr. Frank Richard Miller. He was a graduate of Thomasville High School and Davidson College. On Sept. 25, 1999, he married Alice Egerton Miller in Blowing Rock, N.C. In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by two sisters, Cayla M. and Tony Richardson of Sugar Hill, Margaret and Randy Harvey of Thomasville; a brother, Russel P. and Betty Miller of Thomasville; his mother and father-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Courtney Egerton of Asheville, N.C.; sister-in-law, Barbara E. and Tim Tillery of Laurel, Miss.; brother-in-law, Stuart and Karen Egerton of Wilmington, N.C.; eight nieces; and three nephews.
