Services for Delores “Tookey” Morrow Hicks, 50, Thomasville, are at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006 at Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 166686 U.S. Hwy. 319 North. The Rev. Brenda Daniels, eulogist, and the Rev. Andrew Anderson, pastor, with interment in St. Paul Church cemetery. Active pallbearers and flower attendents are members of the Thomasville High School class of 1973. Mrs. Hicks died Thursday, Dec. 29 at her residence. Born June 14, 1955, in Thomas County, she was a daughter of Frank Morrow Sr. and the late Lucille Ivey Morrow. She was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church and 1973 graduate of Thomasville High School. Survivors include her father, Frank Morrow Sr. of Thomasville; son, Kelvin Edwards of Manchester, Conn.; brother and his wife, Frank Morrow and Evangelist Arleen Morrow of Thomasville; sister, Bessie Dunbar of East Hartford, Conn.; grandson, Kelvin Edwards Jr. of Manchester, Conn.; niece, Michelle Dunbar of Bloomfield, Conn.; nieces and their husbands, Angela (Tavaran) Ridley of Thomasville, Sabrina (Samee) Jawward of Cincinnati, Ohio; nephew, Derron Dunbar of East Hartford, Conn. aunts, Catherine Martin of East Hartford, Carrie Cummings of Detroit, Mich., Ora Wise of Los Angeles, Calif., Joeretha Johnson of Atlanta; uncle and his wife, Eddie (Virginia) Ivey of Winter Haven, Fla.; and numerous cousins and friends. Services for Helen B. Isom, Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Turner Monumental AME Church, 66 Howard St., Atlanta. The Rev. Hayward White Jr. will officiate and interment is Friday, Jan. 6 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thomasville. A memorial service is planned for noon, Friday, Jan. 6 at Saint Thomas AME Church in Thomasville. Mrs. Isom was a long, outstanding member of the AME Church across the Connectional Church and her involvement was extensive. Her services to the community and in her professional career was one that exemplified, through her works and involvement, one with impeccable character and of a gentle and God-fearing spirit. Survivors include daughters, Lillian Roberts, Carolyn Adams, the Rev. Mary Groomes, the Rev. Beverly Coffey, Jacquelyn Johnson, Dorothy Brown; sons, Richard Isom, David J. Isom; special son-in-law, Amos Brown; stepdaughters, Arsonia Cooper, Doris Isom; godson, the Rev. Serena Yarber Tillman

Services for Serena Yarber Tillman, 60, 1222 Tom St., Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 110 W. Calhoun St., Thomasville. The Rev. Dr. I.L. Mullins, pastor, and the Rev. Emory C. Virgil, officiating pastor. Interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Thomasville. Active pallbearers are Anthony Ward, William Rogers Jr., Marvin Dawson, Allen Tillman and Allen Powell Sr. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of Providence Missionary Baptist Church and members of the Douglass High School class of 1963. Mrs. Tillman died Dec. 31, 2005, at her residence. Born Oct. 5, 1945, in Miami, Dade County, Fla., she was a daughter of Leroy Yarber of Miami and the late Theresa Grace Yarber of Thomasville. She was a 1963 graduate of Douglass High School and a retired paraprofessional at Harper Elementary School. Mrs. Tillman was a member of Providence M.B. Church and a member of Clara Majors Senior Mission and Foreign Mission Ministries. Survivors include her sons, Eston Tillman, Benjamin T. Tillman Jr. (Stephanie) all of Thomasville; sister, Lisa Y. Lyons (Fred) of Thomasville; grandsons, Benjamin F. Tillman III (Trey), Lindsay Tillman both of Thomasville; uncle, Eston J. Taylor Jr. (Marie) of Thomasville; aunt, Bernice Harris of Detroit, Mich.; uncle, Israel Hamilton of Thomasville; niece, Alexia Sherman of Thomasville; nephew, Joshua Lyons of Thomasville; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Grace Yarber; and aunts, Annie Ruth Hamilton and Emma Marjorie Simpson. The viewing is from 1 to 9 p.m., today at the funeral home and from 12:30 p.m., until the service Thursday at the church. Ralph Lamar Tucker

Graveside services for Ralph Lamar Tucker, 82, Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie. The Rev. Dr. Michael Helms will officiate. Mr. Tucker died Jan. 2 at his residence. Born Jan. 10, 1923, in Colquitt County, he was a son of the late Vera Page Tucker and William Raiford Tucker. He was a graduate of Moultrie High School and served in U.S. Army in Korea. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a member of Colquitt County Sports Hall of Fame. He was retired from the Department of Agriculture in the food stamp department. Survivors include son, Douglas L. Tucker and wife, Luellen of Leesburg; daughter, Connie Enfinger and husband, Charles of Thomasville; brother, Ronald Tucker and wife, Pat of Winder; sister, Sarah Murphy and husband, Ottis of Melbourne, Fla.; grandchildren, Jennifer Tucker of Albany, Joey Tucker of Albany; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Tucker of Moultrie. He was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Tucker, Lynwood Tucker; and a sister, Lanelle Conner. Services for Madge Clark, Cairo, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Cairo. The Rev. Richard Soper will officiate and interment is in Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo. Active pallbearers are her grandchildren. Mrs. Clark died Monday, July 11 at Wesley Woods in Atlanta. Born June 7, 1912 in Lily, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Wilkins Culpepper Ingram and Claude Emily Swearington Ingram. She was married to J. Norwood Clark who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1998. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist in Cairo. She was Cairo/Grady County Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year in 1989. She will be remembered as supervisor of the Cairo school system lunchroom for many years and as a supply teacher. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, J. Norwood Clark Jr. and wife, Ann of High Springs, Fla., Charles Clark and wife, Nancy of Atlanta, E. Culpepper Clark and wife, Mary, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Ingram of Winder, Clara Mae Clark of Roswell; grandchildren, Jim Clark and wife, Lisa, Pam Deerlings and husband, Mike, Jonathan Clark and wife, Amy all of Grand Rapids, Mich., Al Clark of Asheville, N.C., Charles Clark and wife, Brandi of Altanta, Johnson Clark and wife, Wendy of Seattle, Wash., Culpepper Clark and wife, Denise of New Orleans, La., Stephen Clark and wife, Dana of Lilburn; and 18 great-grandchildren. William Ramsey Rockel Sr.

Graveside services for William Ramsey Rockel Sr., 69, Thomasville are at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2005 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Georgia Street. The Rev. J.E. Moak will officiate. Mr. Rockel died Monday, July 11 at Glen-Mor Nursing Home. Born Jan. 5, 1936 in Thomas County, he was a son of the late William Mahlon Rockel Jr. and Louise Ramsey. On July 10, 1955 at Olive Baptist Church in Jefferson County, Fla., he married Myrtle Sauls Rockel. He had lived in Thomas County all his life and was a machinist with TRW. Mr. Rockel is a graduate of Thomasville High School and member of First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Sauls Rockel of Thomasville; son, Bill Rockel of Thomasville; sisters, Joan Jemison of Thomasville and Nancy Kreis of Dallas, Texas. Martha ‘Peggy’ Singletary

Memorial services for Martha “Peggy” Wheeler Singletary of Thomasville are at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at All Saints Episcopal Church with the Rev. Frederick Buechner officiating. Mrs. Singletary died July 11 at Archbold Hospital. Born Nov 21, 1927 in Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late Ramsey Colquitt Wheeler and Bertie Dove Williams Singletary. Mrs. Singletary graduated from Thomasville High School in 1946 and was a founding member of the All Saints Episcopal Church. She was married to James Vernon Singletary Sr. in 1949 who survives. Other survivors include sons, James V. Singletary Jr. and Alan Ramsey Singletary both of Thomasville, daughter, Lori “Buffy” Singletary and son-in-law, Travis Spencer Singletary of Crestview, Fla.; grandchildren, Hannah Singletary and Spencer Singletary of Crestview Fla. and Savannah Singletary of Thomasville. Services for the Rev. Sarah Ussery, 85, Rochester, N.Y. and formerly of Cairo, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2005 at the chapel of Cloud & Son Funeral Home in Cairo. The Rev. Marvin Thompson will officiate and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Thomasville. Active pallbearers are friends of the family. Mrs. Ussery died July 3 in Rochester. Born Feb. 16, 1920 in Grady County, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Alberta Hall Mathis. She was married to Ned Ussery who preceded her in death. She attended Grady County public schools and was a minister. She had lived in Rochester for 40 years after moving from Cairo. Survivors include sisters, Retha Ricks of Thomasville, Janie M. Mathis of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at 105 Edison St., Thomasville. - Cloud & Son Funeral Home

Marvin Edsel Brock

A memorial service for Marvin Edsel Brock, 75, of Whigham will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the Brock family home at 2528 Old Hwy. 179 North in Whigham. The Rev. Rodney Porter will officiate. Mr. Brock died Friday, May 27, 2005, at his residence. Born on Sept. 14, 1929, in Whigham, he was the son of the late Walter Levi and Juanita Lois Sharber Brock. He was a retired salesman from Sunset Farm Foods, of Valdosta and was in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He is survived by his wife, Martha Allen Brock of Whigham, whom he married June 5, 1950, sons and daughters-in-law, Mike B. and Lorita Brock of Hot Springs, Ark., L. David and Beverly Brock of Whigham, and grandchildren, Kelsey B. Victory and husband, Ronnie, of North Little Rock, Ark., Jessica L. Pitts and husband, Mike, of Hot Springs, Ark., Max Allen Brock of Hot Springs, Ark., great-grandsons, Johnny Victory of North Little Rock, Ark., Dalton Michael Pitts of Hot Springs, Ark., brothers, Leonard Brock of Fort Worth, Texas, Lynwood Brock of Frisco, Texas, and sister Doris Arline of Augusta. Novella Plymale Taylor

Services for Novella Plymale Taylor, 97, of Boston, are at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2005, at Boston Baptist Church where she was a member. The Rev. Tim Phillips will officiate and interment will be in Elam Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons Bernie Hanratty, Greg Swann, Kyle Swann, Michael Taylor, Phillip Taylor and friend Joe Barron. Born July 10, 1907, in Colquitt County, she was a daughter of the late J. R. and Melissa Hart Plymale. She was one of 13 children. She was married to Cecil M. Taylor in January 1937. He preceded her in death in 1977. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker. She is survived by two children, Mary Jean Heide (Bob) of St. George Island, Fla., Cecil Melvin Taylor (Judith) of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Julie Swann (Greg) of Quitman, Bernie Hanratty (Jennifer) of Leesburg, Michael Taylor of Chicago, Ill., Melissa Taylor of Thomasville, Phillip Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio, two step-grandchildren, Sherry Ware (Ricky) of Land O’Lakes, Fla., Greg Heide stationed in southern Iraq; four great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Hiscock of Quitman, and several nieces and nephews. Eleven brothers and sisters preceded her in death, Ellis Plymale, Elton Plymale, Arlie Plymale, Cecil Plymale, Curtis Plymale, Ralph Plymale, Ethel Hall, Evangeline Phillips, Lillie Tatum, Verde Odum and Ruth Fuqua. Conney will officiate. Thomas died May 27, 2005, at Augusta Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Born April 26, 2005, in Albany, he was the infant son of Travis Fleming and Shagarie Thomas of Meigs. He is survived by two brothers, Demontae Ponder, Jordan Thomas, and two sisters, Heaven Thomas, Kimbernasia Fleming of Meigs, maternal grandparents James and Beverly Conney Manning of Meigs, Larry Thomas of Meigs, paternal grandparents, John and Barbara Fleming of Pelham, maternal grandparents, maternal great-grandparents, Dorothy Conney, Roscoe and Annie Mae Thomas of Meigs, a paternal great-grandparent, Leola Fleming of Pelham, special uncle, Horace C. Helen Virginia Parker Keadle

Services for Helen Virginia Parker Keadle will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2005, at Dawson Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Oakview Cemetery in Camilla. The Rev. Lee Waller will officiate. Mrs. Keadle died May 28, 2005, at Camellia Gardens of Life Care. A Mitchell County resident most of her life, Mrs. Keadle was a homemaker and a daughter of the late W. Paul Parker and the late Maude Shiver Parker. She was born March 4, 1919, in Mitchell County and married her husband of 58 years, Edward Keadle, on March 16, 1947. She was a charter member of Dawson Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Keadle is survived by her husband, Edward Keadle of Thomasville, a daughter, Elaine Smith and husband Alan of Boston, grandchildren, Brian Smith of Thomasville and Amber Smith of Boston, a sister, Hollye Parker Connelly of Ft. Worth, Texas, two brothers, Paul Parker and wife Frances of Camilla, and Charles Parker and wife Nancy of Cochran, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Keadle and Edward N. Keadle.
