Nettie E. Roach
Mrs. Nettie Elazora Vickery Roach, 81, of Royston, diedMonday, November 23, 1998, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Roach was bornOct. 25, 1917. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Ida Jordan Vickery.
Mrs. Roach was a homemaker and a member of Zidon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Boyce Roach, and a son, Eugene Roach.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Zidon Baptist Church with the Revs. Vernon Dorminy and Robert Thomas officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens, South.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Kathy Jean Alford, Danielsville; and one great-grandson, Thomas Eugene Alford, Danielsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zidon Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or to the Cemetery Fund, 331 Zidon Church Road, Royston, Georgia.

Billy E. Evans
Billy Eugene Evans, 59, of Commerce, diedSunday, August 8, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Homer, Mr. Evans was bornSeptember 11, 1939. He was a son of Elizabeth Evans, Commerce.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 10, at Madison Street Baptist Church with the Rev. David Harbin officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one brother, Benny Evans, Commerce.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

John W. Smith Jr.
John Willis Smith Jr., 72, of Maysville, formerly of Woodstock, diedWednesday, August 4, 1999.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 7, in Sosebee Memorial Chapel of Sosebee Funeral Home, Canton, with the Rev. Racheo Lacey officiating. Burial was in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Smith; one brother, James Smith, Thomaston; one sister, Hilda Wyrick, Marietta; and several nieces and nephews.
Sosebee Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Will D. Irvin
Will Duey Irvin, 69, of Easley, S.C., diedMonday, August 2, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Irvin was bornon March 29, 1930 in Gillsville. He was a son of the late Jess and Mae Bell Tanner Irvin.
Mr. Irvin was employed in heavy construction work.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 6, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Greg Irvin, Athens, and Stanley Irvin, Gainesville; one daughter, Cheryl Irvin Lance, Gainesville; one brother, George Irvin, Danielsville; five sisters, Martha Harnish, Simpsonville, S.C., Mary Lou Hix, Commerce, Edith Smith and Peggy Webb, both of Gainesville, and Virginia Strickland, Chestnut Mountain; and five grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Onie P. Burroughs
Mrs. Onie P. Burroughs, 91, of Nicholson, diedMonday, August 9, 1999, at a local hospital.
A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, Mrs. Burroughs was bornOctober 16, 1907. She was a daughter of the late Willis and Ida Kesler Pittman.
Mrs. Burroughs was a member of Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Burroughs.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 11, at Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Allen Seagraves officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Jerry Adams, Lee Adams, Bobby Pittman, Otis Barnett Jr., Mike Pittman and David Hawks served as pallbearers.
Survivors include two brothers, Doyle Pittman, Nicholson, and Ed Pittman, Hull; and a number of neices and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the the Gordon's Chapel Perpetual Care Fund, c/o Roger Gober, 6625 Nowhere Road, Hull, GA 30646.
Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.

Peyton S. Scales
Peyton S. Scales, 83, of Maryville, Tenn., diedTuesday, August 10, 1999, at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Scales was a son of the late Paul and Calla Scales. He was owner of Scales Builders Supply from 1946 to 1982 and was a member of Bakers Creek Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher. Mr. Scales was also a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Maryville Lions Club, where he served at local, state and national levels. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Anne Ruckart, and two brothers, David Scales and Paul Scales Jr.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 11, in the chapel of McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home, Maryville, Tenn., with the Revs. Ron Sabo and Roy Englehardt officiating. Burial was in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Anna K. Scales; three sisters, Eleanor S. Whitfield and Doris S. Wright, both of Commerce, and Bess S. Crawford, Homer; grandson and wife, Matthew P. and Denise Ruckart; great-grandson, Peyton Ruckart; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bakers Creek Presbyterian Church, 5501 Nine Mile Creek Road, Maryville, TN 37801.
McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Joe E. Powers
Joe E. Powers, 61, of Eatonton, diedSunday, August 8, 1999.
A native of Oconee County, Mr. Powers was a son of the late Emory and Mary Nell Andrews Powers.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked as a maintenance supervisor with Harrison Poultry in Bethlehem.
No services will be held.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Fielding Powers; two daughters, Teresa P. Anglin, Jefferson, and Patty Jo Sellers, Commerce; one son, Joe Powers Jr., Watkinsville; one step-daugther, Cathy Ralston, Farmington; two sisters, Marilyn P. Vaughn, Merritts Island, Fla., and Billie K. Faulkner, Lithia Springs; one brother, Emory Powers, Eatonton; nine grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville, was in charge of arrangements.

Celeste F. Perry
Mrs. Celeste Freeman Perry, 64, of Danielsville, diedTuesday, August 3, 1999.
A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Perry was a daughter of Julia Garland Freeman, Toccoa, and the late Elmer Freeman.
She had lived in Madison County since 1961 and was retired from the Department of Vocational Education at the University of Georgia. Mrs. Perry was a member of Danielsville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, R.M. Freeman, and grandparents, the late Noah L. and Virginia Garland and the late R.M. and Maude Thomas Freeman.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 6, in the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, with the Revs. Mike Hudman and Hilton Purvis officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Robert W. Perry; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Carolyn Perry, Hull, and Marc and Donna Perry, Danielsville; two sisters, Eleanor Morrow, Naples, N.C., and Cerelle Holcomb, Martin; one brother, Harold Freeman, Avalon; and five grandchildren.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

MT. AIRY - Mrs. Margaret Roseberry, 86, diedFriday, August 6, 1999, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Roseberry was bornJuly 23, 1913 in White County. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Maude Hunter Hefner.
Mrs. Roseberry was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Roseberry, three brothers, Dick Hefner, Harold Hefner and Ralph Hefner, and a sister, Elsie H. Dearwent.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 8, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Richard Scoggins officiating. Burial was in the Welcome Home Baptist Church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Habersham County Animal Shelter, 4132 Toccoa Hwy., Clarkesville, GA 30523.
McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
