Betty R. Beck
Mrs. Betty Ruth Beck, 50, diedMonday, July 26, 1999.
A native of Lithonia, Mrs. Beck was a daughter of Thelma Turner McFalls, Winterville, and the late J.D. McFalls.
She had lived in the Lexington area for most of her life and was employed with Superior Pants Company.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, in the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, with the Rev. Lee Hunter officiating.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Ronald Beck; two daughters, Beth Wilbanks, Bishop, and Vickie O'Kelley, Bogart; two sons, Tony Butler, Gainesville, and Keith Butler, Watkinsville; two step-daughters, Kathy Beck, Athens, and Lynn Turpin, Lexington; one step-son, Jason Beck, Winterville; one sister, Dorothy Brewster, South Carolina; three brothers, Lanny McFalls, Watkinsville, Larry McFalls, Arnoldsville, and Robert McFalls, Winterville; and 11 grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, is in charge of arrangements.

Taffy G. Ledford
Mrs. Taffy Griffith Ledford, 50, of Commerce, diedMonday, July 26, 1999, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Ledford was bornJanuary 31, 1949. She was a daughter of Mazie Craig Griffith, Jefferson, and the late Billy Joe Griffith.
Mrs. Ledford was employed with Carrier Transicold and attended Emmaus Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 28, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Hudson Thomas and Henry Grady Barnes officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Jerry Ledford; three daughters, Tonye Chatham, Tammy Hill and Tracy Vitug, all of Commerce; and three grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. LEDFORD

MR. NIX
Father of three
CORNELIA - David Lee Nix, 51, diedWednesday, July 21, 1999, at Habersham County Medical Center following a sudden illness.
A native of Habersham County, Mr. Nix was bornFebruary 27, 1948. He was a son of J.B. and Willene Mote Nix, Cornelia.
Mr. Nix was self-employed and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 23, in the chapel of MaGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Avery Mote officiating. Burial was in the Nix Family Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Shirley Carson Nix; two daughters, Melissa N. Pitts, Cornelia, and Leigh Ann Nix, Alto; one son, Jeffrey David Nix, Buford; one brother, Earnest Junior Nix, Cornelia; one sister, Winnie L. Armour, Cornelia; and two grandchildren.
MaGahee-Griffin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. JAMISON
Shirley Grove Baptist Church member
CLARKESVILLE - David Earl Jamison, 54, diedWednesday, July 21, 1999, at Habersham County Medical Center following a sudden illness.
A native of Macon, N.C., Mr. Jamison was bornFebruary 12, 1945. He was a son of Rose Buchanan Jamison and the late Glenn Jamison.
Mr. Jamison was employed with Taylors Paving Company and was a member of Shirley Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 24, at Shirley Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald Grizzle and Corbin Coley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mildred Owens Jamison; one daughter, Gloria Jamison, Gainesville; four brothers, E.D. Jamison, Gainesville, Roy Jamison and Tim Jamison, both of Toccoa, and Jack Jamison, McDonough; and two sisters, Glenda Cheesbro, Baldwin, and Kareen Jamison, Clarkesville.
McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, is in charge of arrangements.

MR. WEST
U.S. Air Force veteran
ATHENS - David Eugene West, 48, diedMonday, July 12, 1999, at his residence.
A native of Memphis, Tenn., Mr. West was bornOctober 31, 1950. He was a son of Raymond Eugene West, Chula Vista, Calif., and Allie Taylor West, San Diego, Calif.
Mr. West was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a truck driver and a private airplane pilot. He was a former resident of Rex, Georgia.
Graveside services were held Friday, July 16, in the Hopewell Presbyterian Church cemetery with the Rev. Joe Renfro officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include one son, Glen Timothy West, Martin; two brothers, Richard West, Spring Valley, Calif., and Mike West, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Elaine Bellamy, St. Louis, Mo., and Carolyn Horlor, Enumclaw, Wash.; and step-mother, Helen West, Chula Vista, Calif.
Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. POLLETT
Retired schoolteacher
CARNESVILLE - Mrs. Martha Sue Pollett, 85, of the Hopewell Church Community, diedWednesday, July 21, 1999, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Pollett was bornJanuary 26, 1914. She was a daughter of the late James Luther and Mary Elizabeth McCay McBath.
Mrs. Pollett was a retired schoolteacher, having taught for 46 years, 43 years of which she taught at Eastonnollee Elementary School. She was a member of Allens United Methodist Church and was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Pollett was preceded in death by her husband, Carey Preston Pollett.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 24, at Allens United Methodist Church with the Revs. Herb Blackburn and Alex Williams officiating. George McBath, Jim McBath Jr., Jamey McBath, Glen West, Bobby Hanley, Bobby Sullivan, Gilbert Adams and Joe Carson served as pallbearers.
Survivors include one sister, Ollie McBath, Carnesville; one brother, Jim McBath Sr., Carnesville; two nephews, two nieces, six great-nephews and five great-nieces.
Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. WELLS
Former Commerce resident
GRAY - Mrs. Gertrude H. Wells, 84, diedSaturday, July 24, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Westminster, S.C., Mrs. Wells had lived in Gray for the past 10 years, moving from Commerce. She was a daughter of the late John H. and Gertrude Kimble Hughes.
Mrs. Wells was retired from the Commerce Schools as the school food service director and was a member of Commerce First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Berea Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Commerce Garden Club.
Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley L. Wells Sr.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 27, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Gray, with the Rev. Troy Herbert officiating. Burial was in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Jones County. Mike Brown, Dr. Tommy Wells, Ken Wells, Chuck Green, Chris Wells, Greg Wells, Ray Wells, Gary Green, Mike Canfield, Laura Canfield and Dan Brown served as pallbearers.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura Jean Wells, Gray, Betty Ann Kitchens, Macon, and Nancy Green, Florence, Ala.; two sons, Wesley L. Wells Jr., Gray, and Dr. John Wells, Macon; one sister, Nettie Mae McWilliams, Commerce; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 341 Mulberry Street, Suite 251, Macon, GA 31201 or to the Jones County Older Americans Council, Gray, or to the Commerce First Baptist Church, Commerce.
Bridges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Chance Taiwan Gober, son of Mr. and Mrs. Taiwan (Nicole) Gober, diedTuesday, July 20, 1999.
Services were held Friday, July 23, at Neals Grove Baptist Church, Homer, with the Rev. Mark Thomas officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include grandparents, Rachel and George Law, Commerce, Charlie Pittman, Athens, Geneva Crutcher, Oglethorpe, and Will Henry Gober, Monroe.
Mason Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.

Beveline L. Swaims
Mrs. Beveline L. Swaims, 84, of Comer, diedWednesday, July 7, 1999.
A native of White County, Mrs. Swaims was a daughter of the late Calvin Kytle and Maggie Louise Jones Loggins.
She was a member of Comer First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Douglas Duncan, Danny Whistle and David McDonald officiating. Burial was in the Oconee Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Henry W. Swaims; two daughters, Maggie D. Watkins, Eastonnollee, and Evelyn Keithbrock, Nicholson; two sons, Jay Swaims, Comer, and Thomas Swaims, Albuquerque, N.M.; four sisters, Olivia Randolph and Florance Aaron, both of Athens, Mamie Lou Watkins, Gainesville, and Elizabeth Ledbedder, Clayton; one brother, W.C. Loggins, Comer; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Calvin M. Dudley
Calvin Monroe Dudley, 67, of Danielsville, diedWednesday, July 7, 1999.
A native of Madison County, Mr. Dudley was a son of Allie Carey Dudley, Danielsville, and the late Boyd Dudley.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was a retired meat market manager with Ingles supermarket. Mr. Dudley was a member of Forest Heights Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 9, in the chapel of Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Tim Peek and Lee Smith officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one daughter, Renata McCann, Houston, Texas; one son, Stand Dudley, Ila; two sisters, Carolyn Pearson and Catherine Dudley, both of Danielsville; one brother, Thomas Dudley, Danielsville; and two grandchildren.
Pruitte Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
