‘Bob’ Heath
Dr. Robert W. "Bob" Heath, 67, of Franklin Springs, died Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
Born in Tulsa, Okla., August 15, 1937, he was the son of Sue Wever Heath, Tulsa, Okla., and the late A.J. (Jack) Heath. He was a retired college professor at Emmanuel College and also had taught at Oral Roberts University and Southwestern Bible College. Before his death, he was teaching online for the University of Maryland. Dr. Heath was an ordained minister in the Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended The Grove in Maysville. He was a member of Georgia Communication Association, Georgia Golf Association, Family Motor Coach Association and the Georgia Newmar Motor Coach Association. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lynne Heath, and a half-sister, Jacqueline Heath Hume.
Survivors include his wife, Hester L. Henderson Heath, Franklin Springs; son, Robert D. Heath, Alpharetta; daughter, Susan Heath Johnson, Monroe; his mother; brothers, A.J. (Jim) Heath, Tulsa, Okla., and Charles Heath, Wellington, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 30, at the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Glen Howard and Pastor Jeff Appling officiating. Burial was in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville.
Memorials may be made to the Robert W. Heath Memorial Scholarship Fund at Emmanuel College or to The Brain Tumor Clinic at Duke University.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.

‘Dan’ Miller
Max Daniel “Dan” Miller, 58, of Carnesville, died Friday, November 19, 2004, at the Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.
Born April 20, 1946, in Franklin County, he was the son of Sarah Evelyn Sanders Miller and the late Max Vincent Miller. He was a 1964 graduate of Franklin County High School. Before retirement, he was a manager with the Advanced Auto Parts in Commerce. Mr. Miller was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jeanell Segars Miller, Carnesville; mother, Sarah Evelyn Sanders Miller; daughter, Janet Williams, Carnesville; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cathy Miller, Carnesville; and seven grandchildren, Alex Williams, Jordan Williams, Madison Williams, Emily Miller, Brittany Miller, Mike Miller, Jr. and C.J. McDaniel; two sisters, Sandra Mansfield, Burke, Va., and Sharon McKillip, Athens.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 21, at Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Revs. Grady Jordan, Tommy Childress and Merritt Young Deer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, was in charge of arrangements.

Laura Bradshaw
Laura Mae Conwell Bradshaw, 78, of Athens, died Monday, November 22, 2004.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Salley Echols Crowe. She was a seamstress for Blue Bell Sewing Plant, a former member of Meadow Baptist Church and currently had been a member of Oconee Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Bradshaw was preceded in death by her first husband, Dallas Conwell, and her second husband, Robert Bradshaw, a son, Wesley Conwell, four brothers, Crawford, Henry, George and Robert Crowe, and four sisters, Lucy Adams, Mary Patton, Edna Patton and Cornelia Pass.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Marks, Athens; two sons, James Conwell, Nicholson and Dennis Conwell, Ila; a brother, the Rev. William Crowe, Gainesville; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Revs. Tommy Cowart, Chris Camdon, and Terry Stutes officiating. Burial will be in the Meadow Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Conwell, Shawn Conwell, Ben Nunley, Cory Coile, Robert Abbott and John Kinman.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, November 23, from 6 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice, P.O. Box 6588, Athens, Ga. 306045.
Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.

Cathline Bell
Cathline Millsap Bell, 85, of Hoschton, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004.
Born April 10, 1919, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Ora and Bertha Haywood Millsap. She went to school in the public schools of Jackson County and at an early age, joined New Hope A.M.E. Church, where she remained a faithful member until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wylie Bell.
Survivors include nephews and spouses, Charles A. Turner, Sr. and Phyllis Turner, Henry Witt, Winder, Michael and Virginia Turner, Atlanta; nieces and spouses, Bernice and A.J. Turner, Carie Turner Rosemond, Cheryl Turner, all of Atlanta, Mildred Hosch and Nell Sims, both of Winder; sisters-in-law, Nora Finch, Covington, and Leora Hughey, Conyers; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, including life-long friend, Maccilla Scruggs, Hoschton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, in the New Hope A.M.E. Church, Hoschton, with the Rev. Vonshurii Wrighten, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were 0great-nephews.
Eberhart & Son Mortuary, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Smith
Mary Freeman Smith, 83, of Bogart, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004.
A native of Athens, she was the daughter of the late Randall Stanley and Lilly McCall Freeman. She was retired from Sears where she was a long time employee and was a member of the Golden Globes of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church, the retired employees of Sears and past president of the St. Mary’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Smith was also a member of the LIFT and the First United Methodist Church of Athens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thoedore Edward Smith, Jr., “Buck” and son, George B. Smith, “Skipper”.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Patti and John Walshe, Watkinsville, Lynn Balch, Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Catherine Smith, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; grandchildren, Craig and Anna Marie Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Tricia and Jon Massey and Evan Walsh; great-grandchildren, Maddie Smith, Kate and Lauren Massey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Sunday, November 28, at Oconee Hill cemetery with memorial services following at Highland Hills Village with the Revs. Jon Appleton and Grady Wigley and Dr. Bill Britt officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice House, P.O. Box 6588, Athens, Ga. 30604.

Vivian McConnell
Helen Vivian Hamilton McConnell, 86, of Rock Hill, S.C. died Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Westminister Nursing Care Facility in Rock Hill, S.C., following an extended illness.
She was born in Greenwood, S.C. on August 20, 1918, the daughter of the late John Gary and Ruby Corley Hamilton. Prior to moving to Rock Hill, Mrs. McConnell lived in Clemson, S.C. and then in Seneca, S.C. “Mama” loved flowers, both growing them and arranging them and could identify any bird that would come to her bird feeders. She was a Christian lady who loved her family dearly, according to family members. Mrs. McConnell was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lt. Col. F.M. “Mack” McConnell, a brother, H.G. “Bo” Hamilton, a sister, Miriam Guthrie, and a brother-in-law, Jim Willis.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. “Bob” and Elaine McConnell, Fort Mill, S.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Dan Gunnels, Jefferson, and Sue and Hank Higgins, Fort Mill, S.C.; six grandchildren, John Gunnels, Tommy Gunnels, Mac Gunnels, Corley Higgins, Mitchell McConnell and Marissa McConnell; grand-daughter-in-law, Dawn Gunnels; sister, Kathryn Willis, Huntsville, Ala.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cecil and Alice Heaton, Seneca, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 1, at Richland Presbyterian Church, Richland, S.C. with the Rev. Charles Riekenbach officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Gunnels, Tommy Gunnels, Mac Gunnels, John Heaton, Eddie Cochran and Hal Alexander.
Seneca Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

‘Lonnie’ Smith
Alonzo “Lonnie” P. Smith, 69, of Braselton, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004.
Born in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Alva Ellis and Mary Velma Andrew Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from Gaylord Containers and was a member of Hoschton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Lee Young Smith, Braselton; sons, Gary and Norman Smith, both of Braselton and Mark Smith, Glendale; daughters, Mary Baird and Tracy Howington, both of Braselton; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Martha Brock, Braselton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, in the Hoschton United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paul Youngblood and Mike Phillips officiating. Burial was in the Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hoschton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 155, Hoschton, Ga. 30548.

JEFFERSON - Remonda Highfield, 28, died Wednesday, August 23, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Highfield was born July 5, 1972, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of the late Bobby and Ellen Martha Barrett Highfield.
Highfield was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 26, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. David Strickland officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Thompson; two daughters, Courtney Baker and Renee Baker, both of Commerce; three brothers, Jason Highfield, Eatonton, and John Highfield and Wayne Highfield, both of Danielsville; and one sister, Gail Ramsey, Danielsville.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. CASH
World War II veteran
SMYRNA - Deward Cash, 74, died Friday, August 25, 2000.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Cash moved to Cobb County in 1949.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was employed by National Linen Service for 36 years before retiring. Mr. Cash was a member of Smyrna Second Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 29, in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home, Smyrna, with the Revs. Cecil Dutton and T.P. Johnston officiating. Burial was in the Nails Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Homer.
Mr. Cash is survived by his wife, Joyce R. Cash; four sons, Jerome Deward Cash, Canton, David Mark Cash, Homer, Samuel Gresham Cash, Athens, and John Reed Cash, Woodstock; four sisters, Sarah Vickery, Smyrna, Geneva Brewer and Revalee Ayers, both of Marietta, and Laverne Fletcher, Tallahassee; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Nails Creek Baptist Church.
Carmichael Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. NEAVE
Contractor
MARTIN - Bruce Edward Neave, 35, died Saturday, August 26, 2000.
Mr. Neave was born March 7, 1965, in Oakland, Calif. He was a son of Sybilene Pritchett Neave, Martin, and James Lloyd Neave, Comer.
As an independent contractor, Mr. Neave was a drywall finisher and the owner of Neave Brothers Construction Company. He attended Franklin County High School and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 29, at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Grady Jordan and Duane Eller officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Tracy Coker Neave; one son, Brian James Neave; one step-son, Justin Grier; one step-daughter, Kathi Grier; two brothers, Jeff Neave, Alto, and Mike Neave, Seneca, S.C.; and one sister, Sheila Westbrooks, Royston.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the benefit fund established for his son, Brian, c/o Northeast Georgia Bank, Brian Neave Fund.
