Jack R. Barnes
Jack R. Barnes, 62, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, November 26, 2003.
Born in Barrow County, Mr. Barnes was a lifetime resident of the area and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Auburn. He was a son of the late Robert and Edna Wills Barnes.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 29, in Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Dianne Stinchcomb Barnes, Bethlehem; a son, Tendell Barnes, Nicholson; daughter, Donna Hill, Maysville; brother, Johnny Barnes, Statham; sisters, Geneva Smith and Dianne Church, both of Winder, and Betty Phillips and Dorothy Mobley, both of Statham; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 1434 Cronic Town Road, Auburn, GA 30011.
Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Rosalee G. Crump
Mrs. Rosalee Gabrels Crump, 69, Cornelia, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at her residence following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Crump was born in Habersham County on August 2, 1934. She was a daughter of the late Gordon and Margie Winstead Gabrels.
Mrs. Crump was a homemaker and a member of Shirley Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy W. Crump, and three brothers, George (G.L.) Gabrels, Doug Gabrels and O’Neal Gabrels.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Revs. Austin Ivester and Jason Arrowood officiating. Burial was in the Shirley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie McCall, Cornelia; sister, Geneva Patton Floyd, Easley, S.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Ralph Jones, Clarkesville; and grandsons, Jerry York and Jason York, both of Cornelia.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

Hilda A. Anglin
Mrs. Hilda Ann Mathis Anglin, 64, of Maysville, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Anglin was born December 9, 1939, in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Joe Brown and Lorene Smith Mathis.
She was employed as the office manager for Billy Cain Ford and was a member of Unity Christian Church, Maysville.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at Unity Christian Church with Minister Mike Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Anglin is survived by her husband, Jimmy Anglin, Maysville; daughters, Cathy Davis, Sandy Davis, Jimmie Elrod and Susan Redmon, all of Maysville; brothers, Charles Mathis, Danielsville, and James Mathis, Commerce; sister, Elizabeth Duncan, Commerce; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family was to have received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce.
Little-Ward Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Richard L. Albrecht
Richard Louis Albrecht, 85, of Lula, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at his residence of pneumonia and an extended illness of muscular dystrophy.
Mr. Albrecht was born November 19, 1918, in Milwaukee, Wis. He was the son of the late Gus and Ethel Clapper Albrecht.
A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Albrecht retired from the United States Army after serving for 22 years. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 18 years of service, and was of the Methodist denomination.
“He will be missed,” it was stated.
Funeral services, with full military honors, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Burial was in the Baldwin City cemetery with the Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating.
Mr. Albrecht is survived by his wife, Betty Holland Albrecht, Lula; and a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Louise Albrecht Bruton and Rory Michael Bruton, Winder.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

William C. Pitts
William Clifton Pitts, 36, of Cornelia, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Pitts was born December 11, 1967, in Habersham County.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Baldwin Church of God with the Revs. Johnny Willis and David Masters officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Pitts is survived by his parents, Clifton and Marie Davis Pitts, Cornelia; daughter, Emily; and sister, Tonya Marie Umbehant, Demorest.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Jo Elrod
Mrs. Betty Jo Dodd Elrod, 72, of Cleveland, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at a private healthcare facility following a brief illness.
Born in Hall County on December 20, 1931, Mrs. Elrod was a daughter of the late Sam and Clothe Lynch Dodd.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. Elrod was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Elrod, a brother, Monroe Dodd, and two sisters, Lois Crocker and Nellie Thomas.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Luther Williams officiating.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry Hulsey, Randy Hulsey, Terry Hulsey and Jody Hulsey, all of Atlanta; and four sisters, Gladys Crocker and Sue Standridge, both of Cornelia, Evelyn Murray, Dacula, and Bernice Owensby, Commerce.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Grace L. Missler
Mrs. Grace Lucille Bohnstedt Missler, 78, of Houston, Texas, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004.
Mrs. Missler was born February 10, 1926, in Delaware, Ind., to the late Henry and Hazel Dillon Bohnstedt. She grew up in Madison County.
Mrs. Missler was a retired seamstress and was of the Methodist denomination. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Murphy.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Roger Lingerfelt officiating.
Mrs. Missler is survived by her children, Steve and Linda Missler, Houston, Texas, Stanley and Jill Missler, Maysville, Marsha and Raymond Potts, Nicholson, and Joy Missler; brothers, Howard Bohnstedt, Islamorida, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Evans Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kevin Stover
Kevin Stover, 27, of Cornelia, died Monday, March 15, 2004, in Habersham County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Habersham County on November 8, 1976, Mr. Stover was the son of Randy and Sandra Atkins Stover, Clarkesville.
He was employed with Synthetic Industries and was of the Baptist denomination. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and drag racing fan who also loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Stover was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Cleo Atkins and Paul Stover, and an aunt, Brenda Stover.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Marty Kilby and Wesley Purcell and Nathaniel Dubois officiating. Burial will be in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stover is survived by his wife, Angela Lawrence Stover, Cornelia; daughter, Christina Kay Wade, Cornelia; son, Terry Kerby Wade, Cornelia; sister, Kelli Renae Stover, Demorest; grandmothers, Maudrie Atkins, Cornelia, Kathryn Franklin, Toccoa, and Lassie Lawrence, Mt. Airy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glen and Vera Justus Lawrence, Lakemont; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family is at the residence of Mr. Stover’s parents, 1248 Hollywood Hwy., Clarkesville, and was to have received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Benny Evans
Benny Evans, 58, of Commerce, died Thursday, March 11, 2004.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Evans, Nicholson, and Bobby Evans, Commerce; three daughters, Loranne Evans and Janet Evans, both of Commerce, and Crystal Gail Sherrill, Homer; and 11 grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gene Brake
Ralph Gene Brake, 65, of Commerce, died Sunday, March 14, 2004.
Mr. Brake was born in Jackson County on October 14, 1938, to the late Bert and Pauline Mealor Brake.
He was the retired general manager of Alltel Corporation and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce. He was also a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class, the Coachman Crackers Camping Club, past member of the Commerce Jaycees and the Athens Area Walk to Emmaus.
Mr. Brake was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and James Brake, and two sisters, Brenda Perry and Rachel Underwood.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with the Revs. David Bowen and Dennis Wilbanks officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mr. Brake is survived by his wife, Linda Jones Brake, Commerce; daughters and sons-in-law, Sonya and Dave Snyder, Cary, N.C., and Starla and Brad Klugh, Commerce; sisters, Kathy Cummings and Ina Ruth Brake, both of Commerce, and Mary Frances Sailors, Macon; three grandchildren, Jade Klugh, Commerce, and Lauren Snyder and Lindsey Snyder, Cary, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Commerce, 54 Cherry Street, Commerce, GA 30529.

Nelson R. Hilley
Nelson Ridgeway Hilley, 58, of Nicholson, died Monday, March 15, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Hilley was born in Franklin County on December 6, 1945. He was a son of Dora Darline Potterfield Hilley, Danielsville, and the late Wilburn Hilley.
Mr. Hilley was a truck driver and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Hilley is survived by his wife, Mary Jane David Hilley, Nicholson; son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Paige Hilley, Athens; brothers, Darren Hilley and Thomas Hilley, both of Monticello, Don Hilley, Danielsville, and Faron Hilley, Loganville; and sisters, June Arminstead and Melisa Goss, both of Colbert, Caren Cargile, Monticello, Dale Dobbs, Cleveland, and Wanda Evans, Danielsville.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce.
