Faye Sikes
Faye Hamby Sikes, 65, of Winder, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2004.
A native of Barrow County, she lived most of her life in Winder. She was of the Baptist faith, and retired from Empire Manufacturing Company.
Mrs. Sikes was the daughter of the late John and Mabel Cooper Hamby. Her husband, David Sikes, also preceded her in death..
Survivors include a son, Mike Sikes of Jefferson; two daughters, Irene Moubray of Watkinsville and Carol Wood of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother Paul Hamby, Bishop; and a sister Jackie Hiles, Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services were Friday, July 23, at Smith Memory Chapel. The Rev. Lane Moubray, Pastor Tilley Welborn, and Bishop Douglas Hammond officiated. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, Ga. 30605.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.

‘Frank’ Nelms
Charles Franklin “Frank” Nelms, 88, of Demorest, died Monday, October 11, 2004, at a private healthcare facility following a brief illness.
Born in Jackson County on May 30, 1916, he was retired from Edward Flor Company and was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church. Mr. Nelms was a veteran having served in the United States Army in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blondine Wood Nelms.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Carol and Darryl Wilson, Alto, Julie Nelms Killingsworth, Colbert, Donna Winn, Mt. Airy, and Mimi Trest, Athens; grandchildren, Steven Jeffrey Trest, Lloyd Franklin Trest, Julianna Trest, Wendi Killingsworth Milner, Jody Howard Wilson, Katie Elizabeth Wilson, and David Scott Moore; and great-grandchildren, Chase Trest, Griffin Trest, Steven Trest, Anna Lee Trest, and Clayton Trest.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 13, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with the Rev. James Gunn officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Celiac Sprue Foundation, C/O P.O. Box 725, Cornelia, Ga. 30531.

Cynthia Groover
Cynthia Lenora Groover, 79, of Commerce, died Sunday, October 10, 2004, at the Grandview Nursing Home of an extended illness.
Survivors include two sons, J.T. Groover, Commerce, and David Groover, Baldwin; two daughters, Joyce McClure and Sarah Groover, both of Commerce; one brother, Calvin Croker, Lula; one sister, Cara Edison, Dacula; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 13, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Hannah officiating. Burial was in Jordan Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Leroy Hopper
Leroy Hopper, 46, of Cornelia, died Saturday, October 9, 2004, following an automobile accident.
He was born April 21, 1958, in Habersham County. He was disabled and attended Christina Free Worship. Mr. Hopper was preceded in death by his father, Paul Hopper.
Survivors include his mother, Juanita Stowers Parris, Ellijay; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Leroy and Regina Hopper, Joseph Lee Hopper, all of Alto; six sisters, Brenda Gale Dover, Clarkesville, Judy Worley and Joan Burch, both of Cornelia, Teresa Norwood, Blairsville, Melodie Colbert, Blue Ridge, and Glynda Crooke, Ellijay; brother, Gary Hopper, Demorest; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Monday, October 11, at the Christian Free Worship with the Revs. Mickey Umbehant and Johnny Willis officiating.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ann Radabaugh
Mary Ann Radabaugh, 68, of Cornelia, died Saturday, October 9, 2004, at her residence.
She was born January 29, 1936, in Erie, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Richard Eugene and Susan Elizabeth Deiner. Mrs. Radabaugh was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Radabaugh, daughter, Debra Lynn Radabaugh, and a son, Richard William Radabaugh.
Survivors include daughters, Susan Jane Furniss and Sandra Jean Haas, both of Cornelia; Barbara Ann Sutton, Alto; Tina Marie Nutter, Fla.; Patty Lee Ledger, Freeport, Fla.; sons, Howard Richard Haas, Fla., William Rosswell Radabaugh, III, Valdosta; one brother, Dick Denier, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held Monday, October 11, in the North Chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home, Demorest, with the Rev. Bobby Griffin officiating.
Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, was in charge of arrangements.

Curtis Holland
Curtis Holland, 44, of Clarkesville, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004.
Born in Sylva, N.C., April 19, 1960, he was the son of the late Doyle Holland. He was employed with Pizza Hut in Cornelia, with seven years service, and was an avid fan of golf, football and baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves, according to his family members. Mr. Holland attended Mountain Resources and was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Britta Lee Holland and Inez Cope Clontz.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Marlene (Cope) and Marvin Cantrell, Mt. Airy; brothers, Steve Holland, Baldwin, Keith Holland, Mt. Airy, and Andy Holland, Cleveland; grandfather, Claude Holland, Cullowhee, N.C.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 8, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with the Rev. Ray Turpin officiating and Denise Eller giving the eulogy. Burial was in Eastview Cemetery.

George Doss
George Thomas Doss, 76, of Maysville, died Friday, October 8, 2004 in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born September 6, 1928, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late George McCurry Doss and India Samples Doss. Mr. Doss was a veteran retired from the United States Navy having served in Korea and Viet Nam.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Glandon Doss, Maysville; step-daughter, Dottie Mathis, Maysville; brothers, Jimmy Doss, Maysville, and Ford Doss, Clarkesville; and a sister, Melba Lewis, Maysville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 10, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Swayne Cochran officiating. Burial was in Oconee Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Brandon Griffin
Brandon Kyle Griffin, 23, of Gillsville, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was born in Hall County and was a Methodist.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Jenny Buffington and Terry Gillespie, Gainesville; father, Tommy Griffin, Gillsville; grandparents, Carlton and Libby Buffington and Kathleen Griffin, all of Gillsville; brothers and sister-in-law, Randy and Jennifer Griffin and Rusty Griffin, all of Gillsville; step-brothers and step-sister-in-law, Phillip and Amy Gillespie, Gillsville, and Matthew Gillespie, Gainesville; nephew, William Griffin, and niece, Abigail Griffin, both of Gillsville; very special friend, Brooke Queen; a number of aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
Funeral service was held Thursday, October 7, in Lebanon United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Chris Branscomb, Jason Buffington, and Marshall Dale officiating. Burial was in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Ward’s Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.

Lessie Ayers
Lessie Margie Segars Ayers, 94, of Royston, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
Born in Banks County, December 22, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Nora Norton Segars. Mrs. Ayers, known as “Mama Ayers” to family and friends, was a homemaker and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bromer Eugene (B.E.) Ayers, and a son, Virgil Ayers.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Conyard and Barbara Ayers, Bowman, Wade and Evelyn Ayers, Barry and Linda Ayers, and Delores Ayers, all of Royston; daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and John Rice and Marlene and Harvard Hart, all of Royston; brother, Tommy Segars, Bowman; sisters, Lozelle Cape, Patricia Poole, and Sara Phillips, all of Athens, and Celeste Shiflet, Hartwell; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 8, in the Holly Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Kesler, Bert Synan, and Bobby Jones officiating. Burial was in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mrs. Ayer’s grandsons, Earl Ayers, Stacey Ayers, Jeff Ayers, Gary Rice, Brian Hart, and Jimmy Norton.
Memorials may be made to the Holly Springs Baptist Church Family Life Center, c/o Debra Rice, 104 Joe Findley Road, Royston, Georgia 30662.

Hoke Goss, Sr.
Hoke Donald Goss, Sr., 75, of Martin, died Saturday, October 9, 2004, in Athens Regional Hospital, Athens.
Born May 26, 1929 in Elbert County, he was the son of the late James Wilbur and Josie Belle Ayers Goss. He was a retired self-employed truck driver. Mr. Goss was preceded in death by brothers, James R. Goss and John A. Goss.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Blakely Goss of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Hoke D. Goss, Jr. and Christine Goss, Gallatin, Tenn., Kelly H. and Duchess Blakely, Shoal Creek; brother, Norris Goss, Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Sherry Tiller, Gillsville, and Carolyn Ann Jordan, Orlando, Fla.; grandson, Nicholas Blakely, Lavonia; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Monday, October 11, in the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Sidney Tiller officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, the Diabetes Association, or to the charity of your choice.

Loyd Harbert
Furman Loyd Harbert, 80, of Toccoa, died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at his residence.
Born June 5, 1924, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late America Lee and James D. Harbert. He was a former employee of Toccoa Housing Authority and a former partner of C&H Aluminum Products. Mr. Harbert was a veteran having served in the Air Force on Guam during World War II. He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry Harbert, Lowry Harbert, James Robert Harbert, Clarence Harbert, and Johnny Harbert, three sisters, Inez Jones, Annie Lee and Elizabeth Harbert.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen McCollum Harbert of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Edna and Roger Thomas, Martin, Linda and Donald Ivester, Toccoa, and Janet and Kenneth Banks, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Deborah Harbert, Eastanollee; sister, Violet Jackson, Eastanollee; brother, Fred Harbert, Summerville, sister-in-law, Willard Harbert, Toccoa, grandchildren, Bucky and Stephanie Simmons, Tonya Williams, Brent Harbert, all of Toccoa, Courtney Thomas, Martin, Haley and David Banks, Commerce; honorary granddaughter, Lindsey Williams, Toccoa; great-grandchildren, Daniel Ivester, Kel Thomas, Ashton Simmons, all of Toccoa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 10, in Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Leon Miller and Harris Pressley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, with the Rev. Sam Bates officiating at the graveside.
Memorials may be made to Rock Creek Baptist Church or Tugalo Baptist Church.
