JEFFERSON - Otis Potter "Bill" Pugh, 70, died Monday, August 23, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Greene County, Mr. Pugh was born July 13, 1929. He was a son of the late Otis and Lucille Potter Pugh.
Mr. Pugh was a retired construction worker and was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, August 25, in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Barrow County, with the Rev. Hal Tapp officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Bearden Pugh; one son, Paul Pugh, Atlanta; two daughters, Kathy Mize, Jefferson, and Debbie Moore, Athens; one sister, Jodena Hanes, Stockbridge; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

MR. GEE
Bus driver
COMMERCE - Roy Leon Gee, 67, died Monday, July 19, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Commerce, Mr. Gee was born May 13, 1932. He was a son of the late Riley L. and Bessie Anderson Gee.
Mr. Gee worked as a bus driver for Jackson County Schools.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Poston and Tommy Seay officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Nell Gee; one son, David Gee, Commerce; one daughter, Carolyn Gee, Columbia, S.C.; two step-daughters, Donna Ayers, Ila, and Debbie Looney, Center; one brother, Ralph Gee, Braselton; one sister, Louise Norris, Dry Pond Community; and five grandchildren.

BUFORD - William Ernest Morton, 87, died Thursday, August 19, 1999.
Mr. Morton was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Mickler Morton.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 22, at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Hoyt Wilkins and James Clayton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Garner, Braselton, and Jean Young, Buford; two sons, Harry Morton, Lawrenceville, and Anthony Morton, Buford; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

MR. CHESTER
Automobile mechanic
DAWSONVILLE - Earl Chester, 83, died Saturday, August 21, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Dawson County, Mr. Chester was a son of the late Benjamin and Rachel Chester.
He worked as an automobile mechanic for many years and was a bus driver for the Dawson County School System for 12 years. Mr. Chester was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Inell Chester, a son, Dennis Chester, five brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 23, in the chapel of Bearden Funeral Home, Dawsonville, with the Revs. Roy Bailey and Clarence Stanley officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Chester; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Gary Bruce, Hoschton, Teresa and Tim Parton and Connie and Ronnie Sosebee, all of Dawsonville, and Melba and Jerrell Fricks, Dahlonega; daughter, Helen Anderson, Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Jimmie Ann Chester, Wayne and Ann Chester and David and Michelle Chester, all of Dawsonville; sons, Norman Chester, Bennie Chester and Marty Chester, all of Dawsonville; step-daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Luke Martin, Dawsonville; three brothers, Carl Chester, Clayton Chester, both of Dawsonville, and Loy Chester, Dahlonega; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and a number of other relatives.

MRS. BRIESEACHER

BALDWIN - Mrs. Doris M. Brieseacher, 74, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Ill., died Thursday, August 19, 1999, at a private nursing facility following an extended illness.
Mrs. Brieseacher was born November 28, 1924. She was a daughter of the late Emery and Flossie Warthen White.
Mrs. Brieseacher was retired and was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Brieseacher.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 23, at Logan Street Baptist Church with the Rev. J.R. Janese officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens, Mt. Vernon, Ill.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl McClure, Demorest; two sisters, Loveda Moore, Mt. Vernon, Ill., and Helen Lee Burk, Hazelwood, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

MR. BOLING
Former Banks Co. BOE member
BALDWIN - Conrad Allen Boling, 57, died Tuesday, August 17, 1999, at Habersham County Medical Center following a sudden illness.
A native of Stephens County, Mr. Boling was born July 29, 1942. He was a son of the late Monroe R. and Grace Ragsdale Boling.
Mr. Boling was the owner and operator of Bolings Grocery, Feed and Fertilizer Store. He served on the Banks County Board of Education for 12 years and was a member of the Banks County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Boling was also recognized by Damascus Baptist Church for his service to the community. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, the Homer Masonic Lodge Phi Delta F & AM and a member of the Banks County Cattleman's Association.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 19, at Prospect United Methodist Church with the Revs. Roy Rogers and Dennis Wilkes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Merle Pritchett Boling; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jimmy Pardue, Gainesville; step-daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Chris Carter, Baldwin; two sons, Mark Allen Boling and Brent Monroe Boling, both of Baldwin; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Don Purcell, Athens; step-grandmother, Pearline James, Carnesville; and two grandchildren, Jake Allen Boling and David Colton Carter, both of Baldwin.

MR. POOLE
U.S. Air Force veteran
CARNESVILLE - Travis Wendell Poole, 61, died Monday, August 23, 1999, at his residence.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Poole was born April 8, 1938. He was a son of the late George Wiley and Ruth Ayers Poole.
Mr. Poole was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1956 to 1962, was a poultry and cattle farmer and was an electrician. He was a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Poole was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Lynn, and a brother, Max Poole.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 25, at the B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with Jason DeFoor and the Rev. Ernest Ivester officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Bennett Poole; two sons, Wendell Poole, Deatsville, Ala., and Thomas Poole, Toccoa; three daughters, Sharron Baker, Cleveland, Elaine Vaughn, Carnesville, and Jennifer Schrader, Franklin, N.C.; two brothers, Wister and Alfred Poole, both of Carnesville; two sisters, Jean Kay, Carnesville, and Avis Lewallen, Homer; and nine grandchildren.

MRS. KEESEE

COMMERCE - Mrs. Cumi Sorrow Keesee, 83, died Wednesday, August 18, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Keesee was born May 6, 1916. She was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Rilla Ingram Sorrow.
Mrs. Keesee was retired from Blue Bell Manufacturing and The Fabric Shop and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Henley Keesee.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 20, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Carlton Peters officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Jesse Michael Keesee, Powder Springs, and Norman Henley Keesee, Hartsville, S.C.; two daughters, Christine Brooks, Commerce, and Carolyn Orr, Woodstock; one brother, Hilliard Sorrow, Maysville; one sister, Nomie Carter, Maysville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MRS. TARA
Homer native
SANDY, UTAH - Mrs. Lois Coker Tara died Saturday, August 21, 1999, at Alta View Hospital from stroke-related complications.
Mrs. Tara was born September 29, 1921, to Henry and Genie Hill Coker in Homer. She graduated from Banks County High School and attended Toccoa Falls College.
She married
John Malcolm Tara in California on January 26, 1946. They lived in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., for 35 years. Following her husband's retirement from Western Airlines, Mrs. Tara resided in Hamilton, Mont., for 10 years, moving to Sandy, Utah, in 1994 to be near their daughter and grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, said family members. She was very kind and generous and dedicated many years of service to the National Charity League in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
Family members added that Mrs. Tara was a wonderful homemaker, loved to cook, garden and crochet and was an avid reader. She also liked to travel and one of her greatest joys was being with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Tara was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Guynelle Coker and Ruby Coker, and one brother, James Coker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 26, at Homer Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Tara is survived by her husband of 53 years; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Rick Carter, Sandy, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Karen Tara, Homer; five sisters, Eloise Mann and Ruth Parsons, both of Marietta, Jessie Westbrooks, Homer, and Gloria Cotton and Sonja Baugh, both of Haines City, Fla.; one brother, Eugene Coker, Alto; three grandchildren, Tara and Christopher Carter, both of Sandy, Utah, and Jason Tara, Homer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce.
