ALTO - Leroy Dodd, 69, died Thursday, August 26, 1999, at Habersham Home following an extended illness.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Dodd was born April 12, 1930. He was a son of the late Silas and Lonnie Standridge Dodd.
Mr. Dodd was a retired bulldozer operator and was of the Holiness faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vasco Dodd, and four sisters, Lela Bell Armour, Mamie Lewallen, Thelma Wiley and Edith Crocker.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 28, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Jacob Armour and W.L. Corn officiating. Burial was in the Dodd Family Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Dodd; daughters and sons-in-law, Merle and J.R. Morris, Cornelia, Denise and the Rev. Jeff Lovell, Alto, and Janice Hicks, Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Joy Dodd, Alto; one brother, Alonzo Dodd, Homer; three sisters, Elma Brown and Dorothy Turner, both of Alto, and Ruby Smallwood, Baldwin; and six grandchildren.

COMMERCE - Jerry Michael Chambers, 49, died Tuesday, August 24, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Chambers was born October 30, 1949. He was a son of J.T. and Imogene Chambers, Homer.
Mr. Chambers was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.
Graveside services were held Thursday, August 26, in Banks County Memorial Gardens, Homer, with the Rev. Jerry Stowe officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Sharon Chambers; two step-sons, Greg Abernathy, Gillsville, and Jermy Abernathy, Gainesville; and two sisters, Rita Chambers and Judy Miller, both of Homer.

CARNESVILLE - Mrs. Mae Belle Barrett Ginn, 88, died Saturday, August 21, 1999, at Elbert Memorial Hospital, Elberton.
Mrs. Ginn was born November 26, 1910 in Franklin County. She was a daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Bertha Lee Gray Barrett.
Mrs. Ginn was a homemaker and a member of Middle River Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar K. Ginn, and two grandsons, Keith Ginn and Sammy Reese.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 24, at Middle River Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold LeCroy officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean G. Parham, Elberton, and Jeanette Reese, Royston; two sons, Dwight Ginn, Lake City, and Thomas Lawson Ginn, Lawrenceville; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

DANIELSVILLE - Mrs. Clifford Melissa Dyer, 87, died Sunday, August 29, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Dyer was born January 14, 1912 in Gainesville. She was a daughter of the late James and Gertrude Weaver Thomas.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 1, at Full Gospel Holiness Church with the Revs. Lester Haynes and Larry Dyer officiating. Burial was in the Nicholson Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Collie Dyer; three sons, Dewey Dyer, Blacksburg, S.C., Herschel Dyer, Danielsville, and Hubert Dyer, Lula; two daughters, Lucille Hooper, Nicholson, and Ethelene Meadow, Commerce; three brothers, Billy Thomas, Gainesville, and Bobby Thomas and Charlie Thomas, both of Baldwin; five sisters, Pearlee Armour, Belton, Vadie Armour, Dorothy King and Phoebe Thomas, all of Alto, and Winnie Ward, Seneca, N.C.; 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

ALTO - Mrs. Dovie Wade Ferguson, 90, died Friday, August 27, 1999, at Habersham County Medical Center following a brief illness.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. Ferguson was a daughter of the late Parlin and Emmerline Webb Wade.
She was a homemaker and was of the Holiness faith. Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Ferguson, a son, Cline Ferguson, and a brother, Ben Wade.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 29, at Alto Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Aubrey McIntyre, J. Clarence Reynolds, Sanford Kimbrell and Tony Evans officiating. Burial was in the B.C. Grant Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Eunice Ferguson and Opal Shook, both of Alto.

MACON - Mrs. Sara Ward Kitchens, 67, died Monday, August 30, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Kitchens was a daughter of the late Will and Carzola Parr Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 2, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Harvey Smith and Tim Lumley officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors include one son, Scott Kitchens, Macon; one daughter, Carol Kitchens, Warner Robins; and one sister, Bertha Roberts, Homer.

WINDER - Lance Avery Hart, infant son of Nick and Mandy Hart, Winder, died Sunday, August 29, 1999, at East Side Medical Center, Snellville.

MAYSVILLE - Charlie Edward Kennedy, 57, died Sunday, August 15, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following an extended illness.
A native of Cordele, Mr. Kennedy was born April 13, 1942. He was a son of Mary Sego Speight, Maysville, and the late Charlie L. Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a member of Local #926 Operating Engineers and of Local #302 Seattle Washington.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Ron Glaze and James Richter officiating. Burial was in Banks County Memorial Gardens, Homer.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one son, Chuck Kennedy, Dallas; three daughters, Stephanie Kennedy and Vickie Logan, both of Dallas, and Scarlett McClellan, Hiram; two brothers, L.J. Kennedy, Crescent City, Fla., and Ronald Oshs, Maysville; two sisters, Dorothy Smith, Monroe, and Evelyn Tomlin, Jonesboro; and three grandchildren.

CARNESVILLE - William Johnson "Bill" Kelley, 76, died Sunday, August 29, 1999, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Kelley was born January 22, 1923 in Stephens County. He was a son of Ora Pitts Kelley, Fitzgerald, and the late Noah Clinton Kelley.
Mr. Kelley was a retired truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 31, at the B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Rev. Michael Bell officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sons, Dan Kelley, Carnesville, and Larry Kelley, Newnan; four brothers, Albert Kelley, Riverdale, Everett Kelley, Ocilla, Ray Kelley, Fitzgerald, and Calvin Kelley, Cleveland; three sisters, Edna Oliver, Helen Hogan and Mary Brown, all of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MR. HAMBRICK

CARNESVILLE - Thomas Ray Hambrick, 58, died Wednesday, August 25, 1999, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
A native of Franklin County, Mr. Hambrick was born July 27, 1941. He was a son of William Henry and Lilia Hart Hambrick.
Mr. Hambrick served in the U.S. Army and National Guard for 23 years and was a retired truck mechanic. He was a member of Gordon Inter-faith Church. Mr. Hambrick was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Hambrick and Dank Hambrick.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 27, in the B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Revs. Truitt Brawner and Leon Carson officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Walters Hambrick; one son, Mike Hambrick, Carnesville; one daughter, Tina Greenmon, Lavonia; four brothers, Hugh Hambrick, Ila, Herbert Hambrick and Albert Hambrick, both of Royston, and Lewis Hambrick, Yelm, Wash.; four sisters, Evie Lee Phillips, Kannapolis, N.C., Eva Varner and Elvie Varner, both of Carnesville, and Elizabeth Harper, Royston; and one granddaughter.
