Emma Eunice Ray Hulett
Graveside services for Emma Eunice Ray Hulett of Dowling Park, Fla., were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
Hulett, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Daniel T. and Rosie Coleman Ray and was the widow of Rev. Eschol James Hulett.

A native of Telfair County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Vidalia.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Hulett Crews of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Tommy Hulett of Atlanta; grandchildren, Kevin Crews and Andrea Hulett Grizzle; and great-grandchildren, Kyle Crews, Bethany Crews and Kayla Crews.

Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

James Thomas Lytle
Services for James Thomas Lytle of Lumber City were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at Red Hill Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Bruce Bass officiated.

Lytle, 34, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 at Jeff Davis Hospital in Hazlehurst. He was the son of Wayne Alvin and Shirley Ann Herring Lytle.

He was born in Fulton County, but had lived in Lumber City for the past few years.

In addition to his parents, survivors include three brothers, Billy Lytle of Lumber City, Timothy Lytle and Tony Dorsey, both of Douglasville.

Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn Brown Sweat
Services for Marilyn Brown Sweat of Milton were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 in the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church.
Dr. Don Martin and Dr. Jim Crews officiated.

Sweat, 54, died Jan. 14, 2008. She was the daughter of Thelma Wright Brown and the late Harry Brown and was married to Stephen Sweat.

Born in Jesup, she was a 1975 graduate of Georgia Southern University where she earned a degree in Special Education. She worked for Briggs and Associates, which provided services for people with special needs. She was a member of the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church where she served on the Board of Ushers and the UMW Upward Bound Circle.

In addition to her husband of 30 years and her mother, survivors include her children, Ashley, Stephanie and Christopher Sweat, all of Milton; brothers, Vince Brown and his wife, Ramona of Sandersville, Pat Brown and his wife, Jane of Kingsland and Robert Brown and his wife, Karin of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.

Donations may be sent in memory to the Methodist Youth Center, c/o Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, 69 North Main Street, Alpharetta, Ga. 30004.

Northside Chapel Funeral Direction of Roswell was in charge of arrangements.

Inez Crafton
Services for Inez Crafton of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Dr. William Connell officiated.

Crafton, 89, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Chester Crafton. Her parents, sister and brother also are deceased.

A native of Dodge County, she lived most of her life in McRae and was retired from Roydon Wear. She was a member of First Baptist Church of McRae.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Wayne and Gail Crafton of Chauncey; her daughter and her husband, Dianne and Henry Reeves of Lake Blackshear; four grandsons, Jeff and Lori Parrish of Albany, Mike and Laura Parrish of Atlanta, Tommy Crafton of Thomson and Zach Crafton of Statesboro; five great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Maxine Brown of McRae.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of McRae, P.O. Box 484, McRae, Ga. 31055, or the American Cancer Society; c/o Patsy House, Rt. 1, Box 273B; McRae, Ga. 31055.

Allen Hulett Jr., Beverly Jones Hulett, Colby Allen Hulett
Services for Allen Hulett Jr., Beverly Jones Hulett and Colby Allen Hulett, all of Rhine were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
Bobby Ryals officiated.

Allen, 40, Beverly, 39 and Colby, 9, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 as the result of a home fire at their residence.

Allen was born in Telfair County, was the owner and operator of ABC Logging and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was the son of Donna Jean Dungan and the late Allen Hulett Sr.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his stepfather, Mike Dungan; sister, April Hulett (Michael) Dukes; brother, Andy Hulett; niece, Logan Hulett; three nephews, Clayton, Taylor and Adam Dukes.

Beverly was born in Telfair County, was co-owner of ABC Logging and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was the daughter of Leroy Jones and the late Donnie Bell Roberson Jones.

In addition to her father, survivors include three sisters, Debra Jones (Edward) Clack, Donnie Jones and Becky Jones (Jamie) Lynn; brother, Waymon (Mona) Jones; and 10 nieces and nephews, Micah, Payton, Kylee, Bodie, Andy, Mandi, Maegan, Amanda, Mahalia and Hunter.

Colby was born in Bibb County, was a fourth grade student at South Dodge Elementary School and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his grandparents, Donna Jean and Mike Dungan; grandfather, Leroy Jones and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Evans, Jason Harrellson, Jonathan Wilcox, William Roberson, Tim Adams, Mike Durden, Gerald Gay, Micah Jones, Mark Jones, Edward Clack, Keith Jones and Josh Hilliard. Betty Lou Yawn and the Pleasant Grove Church Choir were musicians for the service.

Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Studstill Hudson
Services for Mildred Studstill Hudson were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at New Salem Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ga. with interment in Wilcox Cemetery.
The Rev. Steve King officiated.

Hudson, 72, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was the daughter of the late Henry Studstill and Macy William Studstill and was the widow of Vennail Lee Hudson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sidney Studstill and her twin, Milton Studstill.

Survivors include two sons, Larry D. Studstill of Ocala, Fla. and Vennail Lee Hudson Jr. of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Theresa Shelia Hudson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandsons, Vennail Lee Hudson III, Willie LeTron Middleton Jr., Carderiou Hudson and Demacus Hudson; one granddaughter, Takesha Sheffield; one great-granddaughter, Zy’Nasia Alhuzaifi; devoted cousin, Carolyn O. Hamilton; devoted uncle and aunt, Oscar William and Mabel William, who cared for her as a toddler; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
A.L. Spaulding of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Quenell Waters
Services for Quenell Waters of Hazlehurst were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with interment in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Rev. M.L. Ricks officiated.

Waters, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 in the Appling Convalescent Center in Baxley. She was the daughter of the late Albert Clark and Clyde Mary Crabb Clark and was the widow of Isaac David “I.D.” Waters. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Barnard; sisters, Edel Campbell and Ferrell Crawford and brothers, Ted Clark and Doc Clark.

A native of Wheeler County, she had resided in Jeff Davis County for the past 30 years. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Davis of Baxley, Mary (Jack) Barington of Conroe, Texas, and Barbara Alley of Winston Salem, N.C.; sons, Terry (Melba) Waters of Macon, David (Hilda) Waters of Baxley and Charles (Goldie) Waters of Hazlehurst; sister, Ruth Garrett of Pompano Beach, Fla.; brother, Earl Clark of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Robert Stafford, Michael Collins, Pete Carter, Richard Gallo, Sammy Van Paris and Eric Faulk Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Erroll Graham, Dr. Alex Wynn, Appling Convalescent Center, friends and family.

Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.

Grover Yawn
Services for Grover Yawn of Milan were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 in Antioch II Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Dan Jones and the Rev. Bill Jones officiated.

Yawn, 71, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 in Telfair Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Alma Elizabeth Harrington and Tommy R. Yawn Sr. and was married to Joan Jones Yawn. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Yawn Griner.

He was a native of Telfair County, a member of Antioch II Baptist Church and was South Dodge Road Superintendent for Dodge County.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Joy Yawn (Mike) Thomas of Loganville; son, David Yawn of Rhine; two sisters, Sally Garrison of Jacksonville, Fla. and Nancy Starr of Haddock; brother, Tommy Yawn Jr. of Rhine; six grandchildren, Judy, Brooks, Casey, Brett, Jesse and Nicole; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Lee, Jonesy Lee, Steven Dorris, Don Ross, John Walker and Mike Watkins. Honorary pallbearers were John B. Williams, James (Cotton) Selph, Jerome Studstill, James Robie, Ben Gordon, Don McCranie, Buddy Pittman, Charles Jones, Benton Williams, Dan McCranie, Durwood Graham, Thomas Walker, Tommy Jones, Terry Jones and Donnie Selph. The Choir of Antioch II Church accompanied by Ronnie Caldwell were musicians for the service.

Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Isabelle Selph
Services for Isabelle Selph of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 in Siloam Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
Selph, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Alice Spires Selph of Telfair County.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include five children, Henry Watson (Tomi) of Winston-Salem, N.C., William Watson of Warner Robins, Shirley (Jimmy) Kirkland of Milan, Johnny (Denise) Watson of Macon and Martha Faye McGowan (Jerry Smith) of McRae; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Maybell Spires of McRae; and one brother, Oakley Selph of Milan.

Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.

Leon Clark
Services for Leon Clark of Alamo were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at Horne Mission CME Church with interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Robert Haywood officiated.

Clark, 67, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Memorial Health University Medical Center of Savannah. He was the son of Rev. Cora Mae Clark and the late Willie B. Clark. He was preceded in death by a sister, Willie Joe Kirby.

He was born in Telfair County June 24, 1940.

In addition to his mother, survivors include four sisters, Ruby Nell Horne (Bill) of Alamo, Idella Harris (John) of Hot Springs, Ariz., Lucy Tillman (Bennie) and Wanda Tillman (Willie), both of Alamo; brother, Jerome Clark (Gail) of Philadelphia, Pa.; one uncle, Rev. Elijah Clark (Thelma) of Alamo; one aunt, Nellie Lumpkins of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Clayton Hand
Services for Clayton Hand of Waycross were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with interment in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
The Rev. Frank Hendricks and the Rev. Wayne Merritt officiated.

Hand, 53, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 in the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross. He was the son of the late Vernon C. Hand and Estelle Stone Hand Gay.

A native of Jeff Davis County, born Feb. 16,1955, he resided in Waycross and was employed in sales with Walker Jones Chevrolet. He was formerly employed as an environmental chemist with Amercord of Lumber City.

Survivors include a daughter, Wendy Hand Donaldson of Gainesville, Fla.; son, Clayton Vernon Hand of Melrose, Fla.; sisters, Vernette Adams of Alamo and Wanda Pearce of Surrency; brother, Randall Hand of Lumber City; and six grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Christopher Pearce, Jason Pearce, Tommy Bowen, Craig Adams, Troy Spires and Brian Hartley.

Music was rendered by Frank and Pam Hendricks.

Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
