Mrs. Myrtle Leezell Garrett

Mrs. Myrtle Leezell Garrett, 85, of Hollis Heights in Newnan died Oct. 21, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.
Born Sept. 13, 1913 in Carroll County, Mrs. Garrett was the wife of the late Herbert Jackson Garrett. She was preceded in death by a son, Tony Jackson Garrett.
Mrs. Garrett was a homemaker and a member of New Lebanon Baptist Church.
The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with Terry Phillips and Ed Helton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, with Tony Garrett, Donald Holloway, David Smith, Danny Truitt, Joey Truitt and Ed Williams as pallbearers.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include her son, Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Pam) Garrett; daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James (Martha Sue) Windom, all of Newnan; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Willie Mae Lindsey Kenney, 73, of Andrew Bailey Road in Sharpsburg died Oct. 18, 1998 at Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta.
Born Nov. 11, 1924 in Coweta County, Mrs. Kenney was the daughter of the late Fred and Ida Davenport and the widow of the late A.C. Lindsey and George Kenney. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Corinth.
The funeral was Oct. 21 at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie D. Washington officiating. Burial followed at Eastview Cemetery, with family friends as pallbearers.
Survivors include her son, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan (Julia Mae) Lindsey; sister, Annie Mae Baker; grandchildren, Michael, Shelia, Sarah Nicole, Jacquelyn; nephews, C.L. Baker, Albert Baker; niece, Allene McClendon; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. J.T. Jackson, 72, of Newnan died Oct. 21, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Mr. Jackson was born Jan. 26, 1926 in Coweta County.

Born May 8, 1923 in Dalton, Mrs. Boone was the daughter of the late L.G. Masdon and Willie O. Dial Masdon and the wife of the late Hugh Hamlin Boone. She was retired from Arnco Mills and was a Baptist.
A graveside service will be Sunday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Dean officiating and her nephews as pallbearers.

Mrs. Ludora Turner Moore, 88, of Westside School Road in Newnan died Oct. 22, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Moore was born Feb. 10, 1910 in Coweta County, Ga. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Bob Turner. She was the widow of the late Ervin Moore and was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
A funeral was held Monday, Oct. 26 at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. C. Neal, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Joe P. Geter and the Rev. G. B. Vaughn.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were her great nephews. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the Smith Chapel United Methodist Men.
Surviving are her daughter, Louise Moore; sister, Ida B. Turk; sister-in-law, Anna Turner; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Neill was born Dec. 2, 1914.

Mrs. Gertie L. Perdue

Mrs. Gertie L. Perdue, 78, of Newnan, died Oct. 21, 1998 at Fayette Community Hospital.
Mrs. Perdue was born April 29, 1920 in Coweta County. A graduate of Paine College in Augusta, Ga., she did additional studies at Atlanta University, Georgia College and Fort Valley College.
She established several businesses which she pursued full-time after retirement from teaching in 1978.
A member of Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church, she was also active in civic affairs and was a member of the LaGrange Chapter of Links Inc., the Eastern Star, Neweta Club, Wi-Band Club and Paine College Alumni Association. She was recipient of the Sojourner Truth Award, Mother of the Year Award, and Bridge Builders Award. At Newnan Chapel she served as chairperson of finance and was president of the United Methodist Women. She also worked with the Girl Scouts, Cancer Society and was a hospital volunteer.
A funeral will be Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. at Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. T. Coleman as eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Hulon Kemp, pastor, the Rev. Harvey Palmer, the Rev. Roy Zackery and the Rev. Grady Vaughn. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Thomas Hines Jr., Robert L. Hines, Clarence White, Henry Hines, Marion Emerson Hines and Reginald Hines.
Surviving are her husband, George Perdue of Newnan; daughter, Gail Perdue; sons, William H. Hall and Stanley Perdue and his wife Mary; three grandchildren; sister, Annie Mae Hines; brothers, Thomas Hines, Robert Hines Jr. and Bill Hines; eleven nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Jim Sherman, 72, of Johnson Street, Senoia, died Oct. 25, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Sherman was born Nov. 15, 1925 in Fulton County, Ga. to James Boyce Sherman and the former Myrtle Lee Mullinax. He was a retired sheetmetal worker and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a member of Local Union 85, the American Legion, and Senoia Masonic Lodge 82.
A graveside service will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Senoia Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Fowler officiating. Pallbearers will be Carl McKnight, Barry Couch, Ronnie Larry, Alton Pate, Bob Adcock and Melvin Cheek. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul McKnight Jr. and Jack Guwin.

Mr. Andrew "Shorty" Thrower, 79, of Greenwood Lake Drive, Franklin, Ga., died Oct. 24, 1998 at his residence.
Mr. Thrower was born Oct. 14, 1919 in Heard County to Henry and Othie Thrower. He was a county school mechanic and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.
Two sons, Andrew "Andy" Thrower Jr. and Tommie Thrower preceded him in death.
A funeral was Monday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan with the Rev. Gary Lawrence, the Rev. J. C. Cook and the Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Born April 4, 1923 in Carroll County, Mr. Fields was the son of the late Edward and Lizzie Bass Fields. He was a retired supervisor of housekeeping at Peachtree Regional Hospital and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Born In Cooke County, Mrs. Stonaker was the daughhter of the late Joseph Jump and Mamie Creswell Jump. She was a member of Miracle Way Baptist Church.
The funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roland Ayers and the Rev. Hubert Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Mrs. Lena Holbrook Bullard, 78, of Christian City died Oct. 19, 1998.
A native of Austell, Mrs. Bullard was the wife of Bullard Realty Company founder Cliff Bullard. A former member of North Atlanta Baptist Church and Beecher Hills Baptist Church, she was a member of Southwest Christian Church at the time of her death.
She was also active in the American Association of Retired Persons and the garden club.
In 1956, Mrs. Bullard and her husband founded what is now Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty in a small office on Gordon Street in south Atlanta. She worked as the office administrator for the first two decades of the company's existence.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Parrott Funeral Home, with Jim Dyer and Dr. James Donovan officiating. Burial was at Westview Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Steve Bullard; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jeff Gavens of Crabapple; daughter-in-law, Rebekah Bullard of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Scott Hulsey of Lawrenceville, Brian Hulsey of Atlanta, Marcus Bullard of Jonesboro; sisters, Anna Henry of Decatur, Elizabeth Jordan of Sandy Springs; brother, Harold Holbrook of Mableton; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Eugene S. Banks Sr.

Mr. Eugene S. Banks Sr., 90, of Bertus Hunter Road in Senoia died Oct. 29, 1998 at his home.
Born March 17, 1908 in Coweta County, Mr. Banks was the son of the late Odessa Hembree Banks and Ezekiel Banks. A retired school bus driver and farmer, he was a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be Saturday, Oct. 31, at 4 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home, with minister Mansel Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow a Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his sons, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene S. (Kathy) Banks Jr. of Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. Reginald (Virginia) Banks, Richard Banks all of Senoia, Douglas Banks of Marietta; sisters, Willie Robertson of Sharpsburg, Mary Brittain of Raymond; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Nell D. Crepps, 90, of Lisle, Ill., formerly of Hogansville, died Oct. 29, 1998 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Bolingbrook, Ill.
Born Aug. 5, 1908 in the Meriwether County community of Rocky Mount, Mrs. Crepps was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Rowe Dupree and the wife of the late Robert Dee Crepps.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela Crepps Turbak of Lisle; sister, Maud Lester of Conyers; and granddaughter, Tricia Ann Turbak of Lisle.

Mr. Herman L. Johnson Sr., 77, of LaGrange died Oct. 28, 1998 at his home.
Born June 9, 1921 in Chambers County, Ala., Mr. Johnson was the son of the late John Otis and Annie Ruth Yarbrough Johnson. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was retired from the Troup County Road Department.
The funeral was Friday at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, with the Rev. Charles Chapman officiating. Burial followed at Bethel East Cemetery in Randolph County, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Allen Johnson; daughter, Naomi Faye Johnson; sons, Herman L. Johnson Jr. of Fayetteville, Calvin A. Johnson of LaGrange, John D. Mr. Robert "Hunter" Neely

Mr. Robert "Hunter" Neely, 80, of Carrollton died Oct. 30, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.
Born July 15, 1918 in Coweta County, Mr. Neely was the son of the late Alma Thomas Neely and Mary Ragsdale Neely. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired graving and paving contractor, a member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church and a member of VFW Post 7404 in Carrollton.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Watson Mills officiating. The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Saturday.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Neely of Carrollton; sons, Glenn and Patty Neely of Sharpsburg, Sidney and Cheryl Neely of High Falls, Stanley and Judy Neely of Peachtree City; and a sister, Rebecca Everette of Maysville, Ky.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Zachery Upshaw, 79, of Senoia died Oct. 27, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1919 in Coweta County, Mrs. Upshaw was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Senoia, where she served on the Usher Board.
The funeral will be Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at White Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. E.D. Hood officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, with William Zackery, Daryl Zackery, Leon Zackery, Ernest Nelson, Willie Nelson and Jaffice Zackery Jr. as pallbearers.
Survivors include her children, Mr. and Mrs. Lucius (Geneva) Wimbish, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Upshaw, Jeweline Jennings, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Carolyn) Upshaw Jr., all of Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. George (Gueran) Martin of Gay, Teresa Upshaw, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (Shelia) Mitchell, all of Haralson; and granddaughters, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt (Pat) Render of Greenville, Patricia A. Upshaw of Lithonia, Chakuana Upshaw of Haralson; 35 other grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nephews; nieces and cousins.
