Mr. Charlie V. Miller Jr.

Mr. Charlie V. Miller Jr., 81, of Stockbridge died Jan. 12, 1999 at Henry General Hospital.

Born Oct. 22, 1917 in Alvaton, Mr. Miller was the son of the late Charlie V. Miller Sr. and Lillian Wooster Miller. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Hospital administrator and a member of Haralson Baptist Church.

The funeral will be Friday, Jan. 15, at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home, with Dr. William Suttles officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Eady Miller of Stockbridge; daughter, Lt.-Col. and Mr. Timothy (Mary Lou) Kraatz of Madison, Ala.; granddaughter, Lindsey Kraatz of Madison; and brothers, Marvin Miller of Chatsworth, James Miller of Stone Mountain and Roger Miller of Woodbury.

Mrs. Iris Louise Sparks, 85, of Luthersville died Jan. 13, 1999 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital in Warm Springs.

Born Oct. 14, 1913 in Floyd County, Mrs. Sparks was the daughter of the late Edgar Lee Youngblood and Pearl Sampson Youngblood and the wife of the late Henry Edward Sparks.

She was the retired owner of Partridge Photography Studios in Sandy Springs and a member of the Business Women's Association of Sandy Springs and Grace Baptist Church in Lithonia.

The funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Johnny Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Luthersville Cemetery.

Survivors include her sons, Edward Sparks of Luthersville, Ronald Sparks of Cleveland; step-daughter, Virginia Harris of Grayson; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Olive Eldora Thompson, 87, of South U.S. Highway 29 in Moreland died Jan. 13, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Nov. 5, 1911 in Bibb County, Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of the late Johnny Heath and Nannie Long and the wife of the late Ira Denton Thompson. She was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie Heath and Elmer Heath, and stepson, Robert D. Thompson.

Mrs. Thompson was a retired Talbot County Health nurse and a member of Moreland United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. Talbotton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marvin Cochran officiating.

Survivors include her daughters, Ann Kendrick of Atlanta, Nancy (Patrick) McClain of Moreland; stepdaughters, Sue Flynn of Memphis, Tenn., Ruth Kee of Winder, Betty Jean Barraza of Kensington, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Born April 24, 1998, Amani was the child of Terrica Partridge and Tony Colvin.

Mrs. Betty Brown Barker, 70, of Alabama Road, Roopville, Ga., died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999 at her residence.

Mrs. Barker was born Sept. 23, 1928 in Jefferson County, Ala., daughter of the late Elbert Cain and Clara Crider Cain. She was a retired seamstress and member of High Point Church of God.

A funeral was Monday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dwayne Shadix, the Rev. David Palmer and the Rev. Loyce Walker officiating. Burial was at High Point Church of God in Franklin.

Pallbearers were Christopher Ashmore, Ray Ashmore Jr., Kenneth Harris, William Harris, Noah Waites, David Walker and Chad Barker.

Mrs. Lillie B. Bell, Johnson Road, Senoia, died January 12, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Bell was born April 6, 1912 in Meriwether County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Buster Evans. She joined the Rocky Mount Bethel Baptist Church at an early age, and later was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church in Senoia where she served on the Mother's Board until her health failed. She was married to John Bell Strozier, who preceded her in death.

A funeral was Saturday, Jan. 16 at White Oak Grove Baptist Church in Senoia with the Rev. E. D. Hood, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Rocky Mount Bethel Cemetery in Luthersville. Serving as pallbearers were Emory Moreland, Michael Ferrell, Davis Walker, Frankie Snelling, James Spear and Tony Walker.

Surviving are her daughter, Idella Bell Strozier; seven grandchildren, Johnny Jr., James, Anthery, Ray and Roy Strozier of Senoia, Roderick (Marie) Florence of Newnan and Elizabeth Strozier of Palmetto; three great-grandchildren; aunts, Mrs. Nettie Underwood of Atlanta and Mrs. Lena Mae Turner of Senoia; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Alice Banks Key, 84, of Lakeland, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999 at her residence.

Mrs. Key was born in Grantville, Ga., Nov. 29, 1914. A homemaker, she had lived in Lakeland 48 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lakeland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James H. Key.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19 at graveside in Lakeland Memorial Garden.

Surviving is her daughter, Barbara F. Key of Malibu, California.

Mrs. Annie Ruth Steele, 73, of Fifth Street in the Arnco community near Sargent, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Steele was born Nov. 12, 1925 in Coweta County. She worked in the textile industry and was retired from Playtex. She was a member of Andrew's Chapel Methodist Church. A brother, Lamar Thrower, preceded her in death.

A funeral will be Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan with the Rev. Gene Lovell and the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road, Newnan. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Eucario Torres, 32, of Valley Stream Lane, Newnan, died Friday, January 15, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Born in Mexico Jan. 17, 1966, Mr. Torres was the owner of Carolina's Mexican Restaurant, with locations on Powell Street and Bullsboro Drive in Newnan.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 4 p.m. at the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Willie Lewis Hudson Jr.

Mr. Willie Lewis Hudson Jr., 70, of Country Club Road in Newnan died Jan 15, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.

Born May 13, 1928, Mr. Hudson was the son of the late Johnny and Rosa Hudson. He was preceded in death by siblings, Inez Almond, Duria Hudson and John Hudson.

A Korean War veteran, Mr. Hudson was a member of Powell Chapel United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School superintendent, taught Sunday School, and was chairman of the Administrative Board.

Mr. Hudson was a certified lay speaker, a member of the United Methodist Men, an taught a weekly Bible study class. He started a prison ministry and was a member of Prayer Band One in Newnan.

The funeral was Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Powell Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. R.W. Sutton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Willie Geter, the Rev. L.W. Booker, the Rev. Clinton Melson, the Rev. Emory Hawkins and the Rev. Ronnie Johnson.

Burial was at Eastview Cemetery, with Powell Chapel United Methodist Men as pallbearers and his nephews as honorary pallbearers.

Born Jan. 23, 1909 in Newnan, Mrs. James was the daughter of the late Vannie Phillips and Grover D. Martin and the wife of the late Hal. L. Jones Sr. She was valedictorian of Newnan High School in 1926 and was a member of Westview Christian Church.

The funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elsie Wortham Colley, formerly of Luthersville, died Jan. 20, 1999 in Bedford, Texas.

Born Dec. 2, 1909 in Roanoke, Ala., Mrs. Colley was the daughter of the late Clifford Whitfield Cunningham and Lucille Broadwater Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Wortham; son, Robert C. Wortham; and second husband Maynard Colley.

A longtime Methodist representing her church at numerous conferences, Mrs. Colley was a member of Luthersville Baptist Church at the time of her death. She lived for 32 years in Chicago, Ill. and South Bend, Ind.

A graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, with the Rev. Joe Felder officiating.

Survivors include her son, Ronald E. Wortham of Roanoke, Texas; brother, Clifford W. Cunningham of Florence, S.C.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. James C. Daniel, 76, of Hogansville died Jan. 20, 1999 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Born Sept. 7, 1922 in Troup County, Mr. Daniel was the son of the late Jim and Ida Daniel. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from Uniroyal Inc. in Hogansville.

Mr. Daniel was a member of Union Baptist Church in St. Marks in Meriwether County.

The funeral will be Friday, Jan 22, at 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Harris and the Rev. Bill Deakins officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Born July 28, 1910 in Coweta County, Mr. Wortham was the son of the late Charles T. Wortham and Ida Lee Beavers Wortham. He worked for Coweta-Fayette Electrical Membership Corp.

The funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 21, at 4 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Norton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Jim Goodrum, Billy Luckie, Randy McLain, Jimmy Sutton, Scott Vaughn and Donnie Youngblood as pallbearers.

Born May 31, 1925 in Prestonsburg, Ky., Mr. Wright was the son of the late Malcolm Wright and Nancy Owsley Wright. He was a retired residential carpenter and a member of the Church of God.

No funeral is planned.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Wright of Newnan; sons, David Wright of Carrollton, Tim Wright of Warner Robins; sister, Ruth Stricker of Willard, Ohio; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Jessie Lee Beasley, 72, of White Oak Drive, Greenville, Ga. died Jan. 18, 1999 at Macon Medical Center in Macon, Ga.

Mr. Beasley was born March 12, 1926 in DeKalb County to the late Earnest and Annie Rae Beasley. He was married to Mrs. Dorothy White Beasley for 56 years.

A funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 23 at Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel with Pastor A. R. Cooper officiating. Burial was in Floral Hill Cemetery in Palmetto, Ga. Serving as pallbearers were Emanual Beasley, Corey Beasley, Charles Rainey Jr., Barry Williams, William Penn, Shyrod Beasley, Willie Beasley Jr. and Patrick Williams.

Mr. Charlie Thomas Jordan

Mr. Charlie Thomas Jordan, 76, of Paul St., Newnan, died Jan. 21, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Jordan was born March 27, 1922 in Coweta County to the late Sam and Hattie Mae Jordan. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church, in the Shenandoah area near Newnan, where he served faithfully until his health failed. He was secretary for a number of years. He was a member of Newnan Masonic Lodge 299 F&AM Prince Hall Affiliate. He also served in the United States Army for four years during World War II.

Mr. Jordan was married to the late Marie Johnson on Sept. 20, 1946 and they were married for 50 years. She passed away June 1, 1997. A sister, Ms. Martha Jordan and a brother, Mr. Earnest Jordan, preceded him in death.

A funeral was Sunday, Jan. 24 at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. John Farmer, pastor, presiding. The Rev. Jimmy Lee Hendricks, a neighbor of Mr. Jordan, was eulogist; and assisting was the Rev. G. B. Vaughn.

Burial was in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were members of Newnan Masonic Lodge 299 F&AM.

Beasley of Atlanta; brother, Mr. Fletcher Jordan Sr. of Atlanta; sisters-in-law, Ms. Virginia Johnson, Mrs. Sadie Mae Jordan of Newnan and Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Mary) Stevenson of Detroit, Mich.; brothers-in-law, Mr. Willie P.
