Mrs. Rosalyn Corley, 55, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

She was born July 11, 1946 in Fort Pierce, Fla. She was a homemaker.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Surviving are her husband, John Albert Corley of Sharpsburg; son, Ian and Kelly Corley of Forest Park, Ga.; brothers John N. Davis of Jacksonville, Fla., Walter and Barbara Davis, Carrollton, Ga.; sister, Linda and Ken Wilson of Chatsworth, Ga.; grandchild, Shelby Corley of Forest Park, Ga.

Mrs. Naoma Pratt Morris, 82, of Newnan, died Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at her home.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Faith Baptist Church in the Primrose Community of Meriwether County. The Rev. Billy Ball will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Morris was born February 21, 1919 in Maryville, Tennessee, daughter of the late Jasper and Laura Grizzle Pratt. A former resident of the Atlanta area, she lived in the Lone Oak and Hogansville area from 1973 until making her home in Newnan two months ago. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Primrose and was the wife of the late Howard B. Morris. During World War Two Mrs. Morris was employed by the Bell Bomber Plant and received a Presidential commendation for being the right wing riveter in the assembly of the B-29 aircraft, the Enola Gay.

Survivors include three sons, Rickie B. Morris of Newnan, Michael A. Morris of Hogansville, and David H. Morris of Victoria, Va.; four daughters, Miss Melody Morris of Newnan, Mrs. Deloriouse Wade of LaGrange, Mrs. Linda Hewatt of Alpharetta, and Mrs. Ruthie Patton of Covington; three brothers, Robert L. Pratt of Cleveland, Tenn., John Wilbur Pratt of Baton Rouge, La., and James L. Pratt of Denham, La.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson.

Mr. Byron Henderson Orr, 45, of Midland Court, Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at his residence.

A funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Felton James officiating, assisted by Rev. Johnny Strickland. Burial in the Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers: Roger Head, Phil Burston, Andrew Hill, Willie F. Arnold, Willie Head, Freddie Cheaves, Evan Brown. Flower ladies: cousins, Flo Amey, Wanda Spear, Myrtice Arnold. Byron Henderson Orr was born July 25, 1956 to the late Bennie Orr and the late Shirley Jean Williams Orr. His paternal grandmother Ms. Bertha Orr preceded him in death. He graduated from Newnan High School in 1974 and later attended the University of Knoxville and Atlanta Area Technical School.

Surviving are brothers, Jimmy and Rebecca Orr; sister, Lolita and Carl Barber, both of Newnan; grandmother, Ms. Georgia Blandenburg; two nephews, Adrian Clark and Christopher Hugh Orr; two nieces, Latressis Kiera and Lakita Kusha Barber; aunts, Willie Frank and Carrie Mae Pritchett, Georgette Blandenburg, Talmadge and Addrine Smith, Robert and Minnie Pearl Perdue; uncles, Robert and Margaret Blandenburg, Kenneth and Mary Balandenberg; a host of cousins; a special friend, Charles Colton and many more friends.

Mr. Joseph H. Ruffin
Mr. Joseph H. Ruffin, 69, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, evening, November 28, 2001 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Ruffin was born to Henry and Amy Ruffin in Forsyth, Ga. where he lived most of his life. Mr. Ruffin was a construction worker building Interstate 85 when he met his wife, Mrs. Avis Ruffin. After their marriage they lived in Newnan, Ga. After retiring from the highway construction industry, his hobby and favorite past-time was sports and sports memorabilia. He knew every major players' statistics and was a true Braves fan.

He is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Mrs. Amy Lucille Ruffin of Newnan, Ga.; two step-sons, Robert Crawford of Newnan and Jerry Crawford of Warner Robbins, Ga.; three sisters, Beatrice Bedford of Middleton, Tenn., Blanche Foster of Griffin, Ga. and Margie Melton of Forsyth, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Jones Funeral Home in Newnan with Rev. John Hagen officiating.

Rev. W. H. "Hayward" Steverson, 84, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, November 26, 2001 at the Alvista Care Home in Greenville, Ga.

The family may be contacted at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton (Brenda) Martin, 155 Freestone Dr., Newnan, Ga.

A funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 1 at noon at Emmanuel Outreach Ministries, 102 East Freeman Street, Newnan. Rev. Billy B. Avery, pastor, the eulogist his grandson Rev. Tony P. James, assisted by Rev. André Gates, Rev. E. J. O'Neal, Rev. John Mann, Rev. W. J. Johnson, Rev. Johnny Coleman, Rev. Alphonso Simpson. Burial will be in the Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Nov. 30 from 7-9 p.m. On Saturday the cortege will assemble at the home of his daughter at 11 a.m.

The Rev. W. H. Steverson was born March 16, 1917 to the late Rev. Aaron and Mrs. Endian Steverson, He was married 52 years to Neatie Lou Gaston, who died in December 1989. They had eight children. Preceding him in death were daughter Nannie Cliff Freeman and daughter-in-law Ramona Steverson and two grandsons, Stanley Freeman and Lennard Freeman.

Rev. Steverson was a member of St. John Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He accepted his calling into the ministry about 1950 and was licensed and ordained under the leadership of Rev. Tucker of the Saint John Baptist Church. He was a student of Carver Bible College in Atlanta, Ga. He served as a faithful pastor and sesrvant for various churches in Newnan and surrounding counties for 45 years. Due to illness he retired. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing pitcher in baseball and exercising his comedian-like wit. His lifetime accomplishments include service as treasurer for the Western Union Association and ministration in the United States Army, until receiving an honorable discharge. Through many years of devoted involvement and commitment, he has impacted the lives of a vast multitude of family, friends and parishioners.

Surviving are seven children, Endian Smith, Albert and Frances Hudson of Atlanta, Hayward Steverson Jr. of Stone Mountain, Ga., Willie Joe and Ruby James, Carlton and Brenda Martin of Newnan, Charles and Elaine Brown of Whitesburg, Ga., and Nathaniel Steverson of Williamsburg, Va.; brothers, Rev. Timothy and Cumira Steverson, Gus and Doris Steverson and Aaron and Elean Steverson of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Lucille Dyer, Charlotte Colton of Newnan, and Harper Gaston of Carrollton, Ga.; 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kate Sanders Fain, 83, of Atlanta, died Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at Molena Nursing Home.

A funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Luthersville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Rance Sprayberry will officiate, and burial will be in the Luthersville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Fain was born May 1, 1918 in Powder Springs, daughter of the late John Taylor Sanders and the late Charity Mae Morrison Sanders. She was a lifelong resident of the Atlanta area and was a member of Luthersville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Clifford A. Fain of Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Tommy Adams of Luthersville; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Karen Fain of Snellville; sister, Mrs. Christine Hunt of Marietta; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

Mrs. Lee Oma Smith, 85,of Roanoke, Alabama, died Monday, November 26, 2001 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Ala., Mrs. Smith was born July 27, 1916, daughter of Kay and Pearlie Driver Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of Center Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Smith.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel in Roanoke with the Rev. Bill Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Center Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.

Surviving are sons, Gerald Ray Smith of Newnan and Bobby Wayne Smith of Roanoke; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born March 27, 1965, in Rockland County, N.Y. to the late F.W. Fitzgerald and Ewing Higginson Fitzgerald. He owned and operated A-1 Foreign Car Repair in Carrollton.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rice, 52, of Watson Drive, Newnan, Ga., died Friday, November 16, 2001 in Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Born in Toccoa, Ga. May 17, 1949, Mrs. Rice was a case manager with the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services and was a member of Crossroads Church in Newnan.

Surviving are sons, Chad Anderson of Douglasville, Ga. and Todd Anderson of Woodstock, Ga.; mother, Polly Wheeler Lyles of Westminster, S.C.; brothers, Marion Lyles and Paul Lyles III of Westminster, S.C.; sisters, Mildred Merritt of Tyrone, Ga. and Jo Ann Hudson of Luthersville, Ga.; four grandchildren.

Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her husband, William Rice; and father, Paul J. Lyles Jr.

A funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 in the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster, S.C. with the Reverends Jeff Merritt and James Caulfield officiating. Burial was in East View Cemetery in Westminster, S.C.

Mrs. Lillian Laverne Jones Toney, 74, of Franklin, Georgia, died Monday, November 19, 2001 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Toney was born February 11, 1927 in Clay County, Alabama to the late Roscoe "R. C." Jones and Lottie Adelia Hassell Jones. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent every waking moment loving and caring for her beloved family. Mrs. Toney was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Eugene Toney.

A funeral was Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Franklin with the Reverends Talmadge Chandler and Carlton Rivers officiating. Burial was in the Franklin City Cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Deedie Greenway of Franklin; Jeanie Kirton of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Joan Morse of Remlap, Ala.; three sons, Sam Toney of Sharpsburg, Ga., Mark Toney of Franklin, and Tim Toney of Sparta, Tenn.; two sisters, Nelda Sue Estes of LaGrange, Ga., and Doris Clark of Franklin; two brothers, E. Mr. William Howard Waller
Mr. William Howard Waller, 74, of Senoia and formerly of Luthersville, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Waller was born in Luthersville to the late B.L. and Mattie Waller. He lived in Luthersville for most of his life before entering the military.

Known to all his friends as "Sky High," he served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. After the war, Mr. Waller spent his life doing what he loved most, which was being outdoors, as a forest ranger with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Mr. Waller enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and raising and training hunting dogs. He cared for and devoted his later years to attending his mother until her death.

Surviving are Mike, Kelley, Michael, Christopher, and Nicholas Matthews of Senoia and many friends.

A grave-side service was held Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Luthersville Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Dunn, Jr. officiating. Mr. Waller was buried with full military honors.

Mrs. Yvonne W. Anderson, 62, of Hogansville died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Mrs. Anderson was born Nov. 21, 1939 in Randolph County, Ala., daughter of the late William and Ila Embrey Wiggins. She lived in Hogansville most of her life and was a retired cosmetologist.

The funeral service will be held today, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with the Rev. Jackie Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Curtis Carroll Sr. of Newnan died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001 at Grady Health Systems in Atlanta.

He was the husband of Mrs. Jacquelyn Carroll. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Andrews Mortuary.

Terry Joe Kempson, 65, of Newnan died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001 at his home.

Mr. Kempson was born Oct. 16, 1936 in Newnan. He was a machinest with Kmart Warehouse and a U. S. Army veteran.

He enjoyed working in his garden, driving his tractor and cutting firewood. He liked to have friends visit and talk in his shop around the wood-burning stove.

The funeral service will be held today, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Wyatt and the Rev. Frank Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Faye Kempson; daughter, Rhonda and Keith Ray; sister, Brenda and Ed Craft; and grandchildren, Alex Ray, Brittany Nicole Ray, all of Newnan.

Mrs. Tina Morgan Osborne, 69, of Indian Bluff Drive, Sharpsburg, died Wedneday, Nov. 21, 2001 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Osborne was born May 7, 1932 in Roanoke, Ala., daughter of the late Herman and Annie May Turner Morgan. She was a former resident of Franklin.

The family will be at the home of Jodi and Bill Young, 70 Indian Bluff Dr., Sharpsburg, and will receive friends at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange today, Nov. 24, from noon until 2 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, at 2 pm at Summer Hill Baptist Church with Rev. J.T. Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends on today, Nov. 22, from 6 to 8 pm.

Emma Lue Arnold was born Aug. 24, 1927 , to Jack and Lillie Arnold and joined Summer Hill Baptist Church at an early age.

She was preceeded in death by a brother and a sister, William Arnold and Evelyn Herring.

Survivors include a son, Robert Lewis Arnold; grandchildren Sonji Arnold, Tanigi Arnold, Chelse Arnold, Shae Arnold, Drake Markey Arnold, Markey Arnold; great-grandchildren Keondra Arnold, Zakia Rutledge; sister, Annie Mae Freeman of Atlanta; and brother, Robert Arnold of Patterson, N. J.

Mr. Hendrix was born Nov. 7, 1960 and was self-employed as an overhead door installer

Mr. Bennie C. Gaddy, 69, of Hogansville, died Monday, November 19, 2001 at his home.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Paul Stitcher will officiate, and burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery.

Mr. Gaddy was born August 8, 1932 in Coweta County and was a lifelong resident of Hogansville. He was a retired building contractor and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Bonner Gaddy of Hogansville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Theresia and Horace Wood of Terrell, Texas, Donna and Tim Reynolds of Hogansville, and Kristi and Larry McDaniel of Sharpsburg; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bennie and Brenda Gaddy of Valdosta and Johnny C. Mrs. Lillian Laverne Jones Toney
Mrs. Lillian Laverne Jones Toney, 74, of Franklin, Georgia, died Monday, November 19, 2001 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Toney was born February 11, 1927 in Clay County, Alabama to the late Roscoe "R. C." Jones and Lottie Adelia Hassell Jones. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent every waking moment loving and caring for her beloved family. Mrs. Toney was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Eugene Toney.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Franklin with the Reverends Talmadge Chandler and Carlton Rivers officiating. Burial will be in the Franklin City Cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Deedie Greenway of Franklin; Jeanie Kirton of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Joan Morse of Remlap, Ala.; three sons, Sam Toney of Sharpsburg, Ga., Mark Toney of Franklin, and Tim Toney of Sparta, Tenn.; two sisters, Nelda Sue Estes of LaGrange, Ga., and Doris Clark of Franklin; two brothers, E. C. Jones of Franklin and Paul Jones of Douglasville, Ga.; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Buchanan Ayers
Mrs. Lillie Mae Buchanan Ayers, 90, of Grantville, Georgia, died Sunday, November 11, 2001 at Newnan Hospital.

Born in Roanoke, Alabama to Emory and Lucy Buchanan, Mrs. Ayers spent most of her life in the West Georgia area. She was a member of Lowell United Methodist Church in Lowell, Georgia. Devoting her life to her family, she will be remembered for her love of cooking and caring for all of her children. Her husband of 59 years, Mr. Grady Thomas Ayers; two sons, Raymond Ayers and Henry Ayers; and a daughter, Joyce Ayers Bailey, preceded Mrs. Ayers in death.

Surviving are three sons, James E. Ayers of Smith Station, Alabama, Howard Eugene Ayers of Hogansville, Ga., and Marvin Ayers of Dalton, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Lee of Newnan, Ga. and Mrs. Hazel Bradley of Jonesboro, Ga.; three brothers, Grover Buchanan of Lithia Springs, Ga., Ezra Buchanan of Mt. Zion, Ga. and Rayford Buchanan of Whitesburg, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Carroll of Carrollton, Ga., Mrs. Annie Kate Patterson of Carrollton, and Mrs. Reba Smith of Nashville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family was receiving friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12.

A funeral was at Jones Funeral Home chapel 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 with her grandson Jimmy Lee and nephew Donald Carroll officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Mr. Whitley Barrett Jr.
Mr. Whitley Barrett Jr., 67, of Hogansville, Ga., died Sunday, November 18, 2001 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

A funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at First United Methodist Church of Hogansville. The Rev. JoAnna Pence, the Rev. Carol Cook, and the Rev. Marion Shivers will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with Masonic graveside rites.

Mr. Barrett was born October 9, 1934 in Atlanta, son of the late Hoke Whitley Barrett and the late Katherine Daniel Barrett. A resident of Hogansville since 1939, he was an Army veteran and was retired from Uniroyal Inc. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville and the Hogansville Masonic Lodge, and was a former member of the Hogansville Lions Club.

Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Yates Barrett of Hogansville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph Barrett of Unadilla and David and Robin Barrett of Hogansville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janetha and Woody Caswell of Hogansville and Meadow Tucker of LaGrange; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas David Barrett.

Flowers will be accepted, or contributions in memory of Mr. Barrett may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville.

Mrs. Bonnell Adams Holtzclaw
A funeral for Mrs. Bonnell Adams Holtzclaw, 73, of Roanoke, Alabama and formerly of Newnan, Ga., will be Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Johnny Williams and Doug Bingham officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Holtzclaw died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 at her home.

A Heard County native, Mrs. Holtzclaw was born Aug. 3, 1928, daughter of Ance and Maudie Street Adams. She had retired from West Point Pepperell.

Surviving are her husband, Carl Holtzclaw of Roanoke; daughter, Betty Jean Stone of Newnan, Ga.; son, Joseph Holland of Roanoke; two step-sons, Brian Holtzclaw of Newnan and Roger Holtzclaw of Franklin, Ga.; five sisters, Nina Bussey of Franklin, Ga., Vaughtel Robinson of Bremen, Ga., Niner Spradlin of LaGrange, Ga., Bobby Jean McKown of Tucson, Az. and Jane Dean of Roopville, Ga.; brother, Ronnie Adams of Riverdale, Ga.; two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Quattlebaum Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20.
