Ruth Ann Wigington
Mrs. Ruth Ann Wigington, age 60 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Wigington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Misty and Stephen and Trinia Wigington, all of Jasper; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John (J.L.) and Dorothy and Bill and Goldavee Davis, all of Jasper; one sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Eugene Clark, Jasper; and five grandchildren, Breanna, Taylor, Brittany and Clay Wigington and Justin Burleson.
The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. from Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Revs. Joey DuBoise, Terry Dean and Grant Wade officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Bob, Chuck and Stephen Wigington, Vince Molinari, Scott Shaw, Justin Burleson and Kenneth Allen. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Estel Pettigrew
Mr. Estel Pettigrew, age 62 of Dawson County, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at his residence.
Survivors include his brothers, Howard Pettigrew, Dawsonville, and Taft Pettigrew, Jasper; and one sister, Mary Gibson, Jasper.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 from Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Dawson County with the Revs. Mitchell Pettigrew and Clyde Boling officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Charles and Teddi Childers, Curtis Lovell, Shane Weldy, Averett Bell and L.C. Gibson. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Virginia Rollins
Mrs. Virginia Rollins, age 69 of Canton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003 at Wildwood Nursing Home.
Survivors include her son, James Blackwell, Fairmount; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Harold Hightower, Talking Rock; and one brother, Billy Raye, Cumming. One grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Harold Hightower and Bobby Timms officiating. Entombment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens Chapel and Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers were Abe Hightower and Steven Raye. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Geneva Harbin
Mrs. Geneva Harbin, age 82 of Dawson County, passed away Feb. 20, 2003 at Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Gail Harbin, Dawson County; two grandchildren, Wendy Adams and Crystal Robinson; and one great-grandchild, Chandler Adams.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 22 from Sweet Water Baptist Church in Dawson County with the Revs. Dozier Henderson, Hugh Fields and Bobby Cantrell officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ronnie Bearden, Russell Burger, Michael and Tommy Cantrell, Charlie Hill, Nathan Robinson, Larry Roper and Allen Walker. Honorary pallbearers were: Tunie Cantrell, Pete Ledbetter, Gene Kent, Andy Key and Glenson Swafford. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Annette Simmons
Mrs. Annette Simmons, age 59 of Jasper, passed away Feb. 22, 2003 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton.
Survivors include her sons, William Simmons, Chatsworth, and Tony Simmons, Jasper; mother, Estelle Walker, Canton; daughters, Becky Chumley and Donna Breedlove, both of Jasper, and Barbara Gaddis, Canton; brothers, Jerry and Denvel Walker, both of Jasper, Marvin, Clanton and Ricky Walker, all of Canton, and Billy Walker, Athens; one sister, Cathy Croft, Talking Rock. Fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Walker and Lewis Jarvis officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Brian Collett, Lee, Josh and Jason Chumley, Anthony and Bruce Simmons. Honorary pallbearers were: David, Bailey and Brandon Simmons.

Anita Reeves
Mrs. Anita Reeves, age 71 of the Jerusalem Community, passed away Feb. 23, 2003 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her brother, Tommy Mathews, Canton; sisters, Irene Duncan and Gracie Burns, both of Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Terry Reeves.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Taylor officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Danny Cochran, Kevin Crook, Junior Higgins, Shane and Danny Cronan and Jermiah Ajagbe.

James Jackson Jr.
Mr. James Randall Jackson Jr., MD, age 40 of Talking Rock, Ga., formerly of Florence, S.C., passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 in Victoria’s Hospital, St. Lucia, West Indies.
Dr. Jackson was born in Florence, son of Jane Page Goff Jackson of Florence and James Randall Jackson Sr. of Georgetown, S.C. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton, Ga., member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and former member of the Kiwanis Club. He attended West Florence High School, College of Charleston, Medical University of South Carolina and the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Jackson was a board certified physician and for the past 10 years operated his own practice, Internal Medicine of Jasper. He served as the medical director for the Georgia Mountains Hospice in Jasper, for the Grandview Nursing Center and for Wildwood Nursing Home in Ranger, Ga.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Mason Jackson of Talking Rock; two daughters, Meredith Claire and Abigail Elaine Jackson, both of Talking Rock; his parents; brother, C. Ryan Jackson of Charleston, S.C., and sisters, Kimberly Jackson Hodge of Florence and Leslie Jackson Myers of Elk Grove. Ca.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. last Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Florence. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

Bonnie Chastain
Mrs. Bonnie Chastain, age 77 of the Jerusalem Community, passed away Feb. 29, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center in Jasper.
Survivors include her son, Eddie Chastain; daughters, Rosie Burton, Glenda Ridings, Betty Hamrick, Gail Queen, Barbara Melton, Tracy Brown and Charlene Bunch; brother, Gene Goble; sisters, Jessie Chastain, Geraldine Parks and Charlcie Brewer. Thirty-one grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2 from Hinton Baptist Church with the Revs. Ben Goble and Ivan Watkins officiating. Interment followed in the Hinton Community Cemetery. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lottie McDuffie
Mrs. Lottie May McDuffie, age 91 of Jasper, passed away Feb. 26, 2004 at her home.
She is survived by a daughter, Maria Boling, Jasper; son, Fred McDuffie, Nashville, Ga. Nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses with Michael Sprallin and Simeon Vlanochi officiating. The family did accept flowers or donations can be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses Church Building Fund. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Levern Padgett
Ms. Levern Padgett, age 64 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Bart and Carolyn Padgett and Warren Padgett, all of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Lecia and Luke Wigington, Jasper; sister, Loretta Padgett, Inman, S.C.; six grandchildren, Chris and Michael Padgett, Jason and Crystal Padgett, James Wigington and Michelle McElwaney. Three great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Reece and Huey Holloway officiating. Interment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper. The following served as pallbearers: Donnie, Chris and Jason Padgett, Terry and Phillip Johnson, Paul Hamrick and James Wigington. The family did accept flowers or donations to the American Diabetic Association.

Sonja Rueffert Walcott
Sonja Rueffert Walcott, age 34 of Jasper, Ga., passed away early Saturday morning, Feb. 28, 2004.
Sonja was a graduate of Pickens High School and the John Marshal Law School.
Survivors include her husband, Tobin R. Walcott, Jasper; parents, Joe and Brenda Rueffert, Jasper; mothers- and fathers-in-law, Dee and Tony Miller, Kalkaska, Mi., and Roland and Pat Walcott, Naples, Fl.; brother and sister-in-law, Hans and Amy Rueffert, Jasper; sister- and brother-in-law, Angela and Jason Wynn, Flint, Mi.; nephews, Finn Rueffert and Parker Wynn; nieces, Ella Rueffert and Olivia Wynn.
A memorial service was held Monday, March 1 at 3 p.m. from Jasper First Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Boggan and the Rev. Max Caylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, Sonja’s request is that memorials be made to Pickens Animal Rescue, PO Box 45, Jasper, Ga. 30143. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Padgett
Mrs. Dorothy Jeanette Padgett, age 69 of Jasper, passed away Feb. 28, 2003 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Smyrna.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Randall Gibson, Marietta, Ricky Gibson, Nelson, and Charlie and Sherry Gibson, Jasper; daughter, Nancy Moore, Marietta; sisters, Ruby Chumley, Canton, and Evelyn Chumley, Acworth. Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, March 2 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Brock officiating. Interment was in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Bobby Greene, Jason Goforth, Ronnie, David, Michael and Danny Chumley.

Edith Mae Newton
Mrs. Edith Mae Newton, age 76 of Jasper, passed away March 1, 2003 at her residence.
Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, Mitchell and Sheila Newton and Billy and Linda Newton, all of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Jolyn and Jessie Mullinax, Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Bonnie Wishon, Ellijay; sisters, Betty James of Ellijay and Willie Allen of Chatsworth. Seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held March 3 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerold Young and Ben Langley officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Mitchell and Billy Newton, Jessie Mullinax, Nathan and Cody Newton and Tony Parker.

Charles Townsend
Mr. Charles Whitman Townsend, beloved father and grandfather of Marietta, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003.
Mr. Townsend was born Feb. 6, 1914 in Ducktown, Tn. His parents were the late Jack and Pearl Poole Townsend. He wasretired from Cities Service Co./Tennessee Copper Co. after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a Mason belonging to the McCay Lodge in McCaysville. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Evelyn Eubanks Townsend; his daughter, Helen Townsend Payne; brothers, Jimmy, Earl, Roy, Benny; and sister, Iline.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Martha Townsend Hellerstedt and John of Roswell; son-in-law and wife, James B. Payne Sr. and Pam of Cary, N.C.; sisters, Christine Chastain of Loganville, and Lorine Ingram of Jasper; grandchildren, Eric Hellerstedt and wife Susan, Pierre Hellerstedt and wife Liz, Bart Payne and wife Stephanie, and Carol McNac; great-grandchildren, Andy, Daniel and Hannah Hellerstedt, Jamie Payne and Haley McNac. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive. He will be greatly missed.
The funeral service was held Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper. Pallbearers were: Eric and Pierre Hellerstedt, Bart Payne, Danny Townsend, Ronnie Head and Hascal Nicholson.

Grady Raye
Mr. Grady Ray, age 68 of Nelson, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 at his residence.
Survivors include a son, Stephen Ray of Jasper; daughters, Shirley Holcomb and Sylvia Bruce, both of Ball Ground, and Sondra Cheshire, Jasper. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Feb. 27 from Nelson Baptist church with the Revs. Sam Harbin and Leroy Kelley officiating. Interment followed in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery in Ball Ground. Pallbearers were: Ralph Atkins, Jack and Sammy Collins, Earl Ingram Jr., Bob Kline, Jack Pendley and Buddy White. Honorary pallbearers were: Junior Burton, Marvin Cagle, Howard Ray and Tommy Wilson. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Billy Frix
Mr. Billy Noah Frix, age 44 of Dawsonville, passed away Feb. 25, 2003 at his residence.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Frix; one son, Nick Frix; two daughters, Ashley and Haley Frix; one sister, Nancy Frix; one granddaughter, Niki Frix; two step-grandchildren, Isaiah and Elijah Hooks.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. from Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Dawson County with the Revs. John Henderson, Clyde Boling and Dozier Henderson officiating. Pallbearers were: Robby Parker, Jerry and Darrell Frix, Jeff Kilgore, Emory Bowers, Stanley Mathews, Larry Turner and Chris Childers. The family accepted flowers or donations may be made to the account of Billy Frix and Jackie Watkins through Jasper Bank. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Nelson Clayton
Mr. Nelson Clayton, age 67 of Talking Rock, passed away at Mountain Health Care Center in Jasper Feb. 26 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Clayton; his parents; four brothers; four sisters; and a stepson.
Survivors include his sisters, Alice Thaxton, Jasper, Virginia Quiambao, Jonesboro, and Virdia Hosea, New Smyrna Beach, Fl.; step-son and step-daughter, Herman (Jr.) and Kathy Bell, Talking Rock. Nine other step-children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Bill Hickey
Mr. William (Bill) Hickey, age 66 of Bent Tree, Jasper, Ga., passed away March 1, 2003 at Mountainside Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Hickey, Jasper; two sons, James Hickey, Kennesaw, and Michael Hickey, Athens, Ga.; daughter, Beth Lowery, Arizona; brother, James Hickey, Philadelphia, Pa.; sister, Ann Magini, Philadelphia; and one grandchild, Jessica Lowery, Arizona.
A memorial service was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Hal Farnsworth officiating. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Good Samaritan Health & Wellness Center, PO Box 579, Jasper, Ga. 30143.

Grady Raye
Mr. Grady Raye, age 68 of Nelson, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 at his residence.
Survivors include a son, Stephen Raye of Jasper; daughters, Shirley Holcomb and Sylvia Bruce, both of Ball Ground, and Sondra Cheshire, Jasper. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
