Mrs. Jackie Coe Clay, 44, of Hogansville died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at Columbus Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Clay was born July 26, 1958 in Newton County, the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Fuller Coe and the late Willie James Coe. She lived in LaGrange before making her home in Hogansville four years ago.

Mrs. Clay was a member of Hogansville Church of God. She was employed as a seafood market manager at Winn Dixie Market Place on Hogansville Road in LaGrange.

The funeral service will be held today (Nov. 30) at 2 p.m. at Hogansville Church of God with the Rev. Randall Hodge and the Rev. Johnny Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Rock Baptist Church Cemetery at Woodbury.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Jeremy Royster, Stacy and Dustin Waddell, all of Hogansville; son and his fiancee, Alan Clay and Angela Dutton, both of LaGrange; mother, Mary Elizabeth Fuller Coe of the Louise Community in Troup County; sisters, Evelyn Clay of Louise, Beth Cleveland of Louise, Nancy Greene of Thomaston; brothers, Donald Coe, Ricky Coe, Sammy Coe, all of Louise; grandchildren, Dylan Clay, Laura Dutton, John Royster, Ariel Waddell.

Mrs. Lola Mae Paschal
Mrs. Lola Mae Paschal, 71, of Franklin died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at Hospice LaGrange.

Mrs. Paschal was born Oct. 25, 1931 in Heard County, daughter of the late Zack and Mary Ellen Noles Skipper. She was a lifelong resident of Heard County.

She was the widow of Bluford C. Paschal.

The family wil receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKibben Funeral Home in Hogansville with the Rev. Brandon Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews Jesse Skipper, John Skipper Jr., Doyle Skipper, Donnie Skipper, Hank Pike and Jerry Crumpler.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Joann Paschal, Edward Paschal, all of Franklin; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Paschal and Mark Rockefeller or Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Nancy Crumpler of Pensacola, Fla., Betty Brewer of Cantonment, Fla.; brother John Skipper of Franklin; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mina Pearl Harris, 88, of Newnan, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Harris was born March 17, 1914 in Carroll County, Ga. She was retired as an inspector for Pepsi Cola Bottlers.

The family was receiving friends Sunday, Nov. 24 from 4-6 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. A funeral was at graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery Monday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Danny Wilson officiated.

Surviving are son, Maynard Harris of Newnan; grandchild, Heather Harris; great-grandchild, Brianna Noel Markham.

Mrs. Louise Stapleton Jones, 86, widow of the late Rev. Duke C. Jones, died Thursday, November 21, 2002 at her Newnan residence.

She was born November 4, 1916 in Loxley, Ala. She was a homemaker.

A funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Duke and Louise Jones Scholarship Fund.

Mr. Jeffery H. Lathum
Mr. Jeffery H. Lathum, 48, of Palmetto, Ga., died Nov. 24, 2002, following a long courageous battle with cancer.

After a tour of duty in the Air Force, Mr. Lathum served until his retirement after 20 years in the Air National Guard.

Surviving are sisters Jan Bolien, Dena Cave, Nan Myers and Debbie McGreggor.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, Nov. 27 at the Baptist Children's Home Chapel in Palmetto, Ga.

Mr. Richard Melvin Pace of Grantville, Ga. died Saturday, November 23, 2002 at his residence.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Grantville with Rev. Walter McMullen, pastor, eulogist, Rev. Thomas Hines, presiding, assisted by Rev. Ray Robinsonl Rev. Grady Lawrence, Rev. L. Jimerson. Burial in the Grantville City Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jarret Johnson, Leon Johnson, Tim Pace, Joshua Pace, John Lee Hardaway, André Hampton. Also taking spots of honor will be granddaughters Keisha Pace, Khadija Pace, Shondra Hampton, Elizabeth Hicks, Charmain Pace, Christi Pace, Yvonne Pate, Angela Pace.

On the day of the service the cortege will assemble at the home of Mrs. Christine Pace, 148 West Washington St., Newnan. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Mr. Pace was born Feb. 4, 1939 in Grantville, Ga. to the late Carrine and Willie Walter Pace Sr. He was raised and educated in Grantville and later went on to Clark Atlanta University where he was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and moved on to attend New York University where he was a pre-law student and went on to serve in the United States military where he received his honorable discharge. He married Christine Hardaway Oct. 21, 1958 and they has two sons. Two brothers preceded him in death, Walter and Willie Roy Pace; and a great granddaughter,Aaliyah Pace.

Surviving are his wife, Christine Pace; sons, Randell Melvin Pace, Richard Alan Pace (Doris); sister, Marion Hicks; seven grandchildren, Keisha, Khadija, Charmain, Christi Pace, Jennifer Peasley, Akousha Rosser, Shanice Mitchell; great-granddaughter, Deja Kendall, Tesha Beasley; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Ralph G. Rainwater, 80, of Moreland, Ga., died Monday, November 25, 2002.

He was retired from Sears Roebuck and Company. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1940 to 1945. He was a member of Moreland United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Todd Rainwater of Moreland; son, Todd and daughter-in-law Trunicia Rainwater of Sharpsburg; son, Dwight David Rainwater of Newnan; sister, Marion and brother-in-law Talmadge Williams of Fayette County; brother, George and sister-in-law Ann Rainwater of Richmond, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 11 a.m. at McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Mallory Road, College Park, Ga.

Mr. Murray A. Reid, 86, of Luthersville, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 at Alvista Care Home in Greenville.

A funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at graveside in Southview Cemetery in Moreland, Ga. The Rev. Ron Hughes and the Rev. Scott Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday morning.

Mr. Reid was born May 17, 1916 in Meriwether County, son of the late Charles Otis Reid and the late Della Almond Reid. A lifelong resident of Meriwether County, he was an Army veteran of World War Two and was a civil service employee. He was a former Luthersville city councilman, was a member of the Luthersville Baptist Church, and was a former member of the Luthersville Lions Club.

Surviving are nieces, nephews and their spouses, Ruth and Andy Forbus of Augusta, Sam and Frances Thompson of Atlanta, Henry and Almeta Leverett of Quincy, Fla., C. H. Nash of Columbia, S.C., and Charlotte Lee of Luthersville; two step-daughters and their husbands, Gwen and Jim Hughes of Atlanta and Betty and Johnny McCoy of Gulf Shores, Ala.; three step-sons and their wives, Herbert Wilson of Columbus, Bill and Peggy Wilson of Dacula, and Donald and Josephine Wilson of Clarkville, Tenn.; 16 step-grandchildren; 29 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Frances Jackson Reid; and his second wife, Mrs. Hallie Alcutt Wilson Reid.

Mrs. Fowler was born July 5, 1918, in Delaware, Okla. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Maude Emory Colley, 80, of Grantville, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 24, in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Mr. Roy Wright will officiate and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery.

Mrs. Colley was born March 20, 1922, in Heard county, daughter of the late Otis and Frances Wilson Arrington. She lived in Coweta county most of her life, was a member of Welcome All Baptist Church in Hogansville, and was retired from Alenco Manufacturing in Peachtree City.

Survivors include four daughters and sons in-law, Flo and Joe Lane, Ethel and Luby Johnson, Betty and Donald Hammett, all of Hogansville, and Mary and Marvin Hogan of Grantville; four brothers, Herman Arrington and Harvey Arrington, both of Franklin, Holland Arrington of Sharpsburg, and Lonnie Arrington of Senoia, both of Franklin, Holland Arrington of Sharpsburg, and Lonnie Arrington of Senoia; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quillian Emory, a son, Roy Emory, and a daughter, Frances Emory.

Mr. Coggin was the owner of Coggin Air Conditioning for more than 25 years.

Mr. John Thomas Fincher, 57, of Fincher Road, Moreland, Ga., died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at his residence.

Mr. Fincher was born April 20, 1945 in Coweta County, Ga. He was a certified public accountant.

The family was receiving friends at McKoon Funeral Home Friday, Nov. 22, from 1-2 p.m., and a funeral was in the McKoon chapel Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Rabun Williams officiated. Burial was in White Oak ARP Church cemetery on Gordon Road.

Mrs. Aline "Babe" Jenkins
Mrs. Aline "Babe" Jenkins, 77, of Charles Place, Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Portsbridge Hospice.

Mrs. Jenkins came to Newnan in 1955 and was active over the years with the Newnan-Coweta Youth Association and often was on hand to present college scholarships at high school awards day events. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a Circle Leader at the church, a member of Newnan Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Newnan Junior Service League.

She joined Girl Scouting in 1955 and was a troop leader and four-term president. She helped charter the Newnan-Coweta Youth Association in 1966 and the Babe Jenkins Scholarship is given in her honor annually. The Road to Camp Welcome was named in her honor in 2000.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Saturday, Nov. 23 from 7-9 p.m.

A funeral will be at graveside in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Valdosta, Ga. Sunday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. Rev. Phil West will officiate.

Mr. Wade Hugh Shiver, 69, of Oakhill Drive, Newnan, Ga., died Thursday, November 21, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Shiver was born June 18, 1933 in Dublin, Ga. He was retired from the auto parts sales field. He worked with Bill Murry and Associates of Birmingham for 25 years. He was a sales representative for the auto parts industry for 40 years. He and his wife jean celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 1. He attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Ga. A resident of Newnan for 25 years, he was a charter member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church

Mrs. Angela Steagall Avery, 47, of Newnan, Ga., died November 19, 2002.

She was born October 12, 1955 to Mr. and Mrs. Henderson Steagall Sr. in Newnan. She married Tommy Avery Oct. 25, 1985.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henderson and Mary Steagall; sister, Essie Mae Calloway; aunts, Esther Wood and Grethel Lovelace.

A funeral will be Friday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. at New Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Clinton Melson will officiate, assisted by other ministers. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Arthur L. "Sol" Beadles, 82, died November 18, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Beadles was born March 16, 1920 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Sol Beadles. He was a member of Summer Hill Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge. He was employed at Southwire Company and D&L Company for many years.

Surviving are sister, Mr. and Mrs. Inman (Minerva) Beadles of Newnan; brother, Mr. James W. Beadles of Washington, D. C.; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home. Rev. Rufus Smith will officiate, and burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.

Miss Amanda Carol Cooper, 18, of Newnan, died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at an Atlanta hospital following an automobile accident in Newnan in October.

Miss Cooper was born August 17, 1984. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and was a senior at Newnan High School and also attended Central Educational Center in the evening. She had been employed at the Wendy's restaurant at Thomas Crossroads.

A funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church at Thomas Crossroads. John Orr will officiate. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Shaffer, Mike Shaffer, Samantha Shaffer, Jeff Ward, Joseph Plyler and Mark Keaton.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Downs was born February 6, 1914 in Tate, Ga. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by a son, James E. Cole Jr.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5-8 p.m.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home Chapel Friday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. Dr. David Campbell and Rev. Rick Price and Rev. L. C. Warren will officiate. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony Brewer, Bobby Downs, Ted Kennedy, Mike Madis, Frank Tippens and Jarnett Wigington.

Surviving ard daughter, Janice and Bill Anglin of Newnan; son, Bobby and Carol Downs of Stone Mountain, Ga.; daughter, Janet Goddard of Lilburn, Ga.; grandchildren, Mark Anglin of Newnan, Stephanie Anglin of Newnan, Matt and Donna Anglin Jr. of Lilburn, Katie and Bob Caron of Monticello, Ga.; Freda Cole of Newborn, Ga., Jim Cole of Monticello and Autumn and Duke Reese of Stockbridge, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jimmy Young
Mr. James William "Jimmy" Young, 84, of Heritage West Court, Greenwood, South Carolina, died November 20, 2002 at his home.

He was the husband of Thelma Ashley Crawford Young.

Born in Greenwood County Feb. 9, 1918, he was a son of the late Robert Furman and Lucille Martin Young. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the European Theatre and the D-Day Invasion of Omaha Beach. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery.

Mr. Young retired from Holiday Inns, Inc. after 18 years service and was part-time associated with Blyth Funeral Home for 40 years.

He was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church, having served on the Counting Committee for more than 35 years. He was also a life member of Bascomb Masonic Lodge 363.

Mr. Young was twice married, first to the late Caroline Johnson Young and was also predeceased by a son, Dell Young.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Jimmie Ann and husband, Mike Davis of Peachtree City, Ga.; two step-daughters, Nancy O'Dell of Ware Shoals and Rebecca Pritchard of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Inez Y. Davis of Hodges and a brother, Roy Furman Young of Aiken; a grandson, Michael and wife, Autumn Davis and a granddaughter, Gala and husband, Ernie Johnson; great-grandson, Braeden Davis; five step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday from Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Eklund, Rev. David W. Patterson and Rev. Dan Compton officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family is at the home on Heritage West Court and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Joe Henry Hardaway
Mr. Joe Henry Hardaway, 61, of Charlie Fuller Road, Grantville, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at his home.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Luthersville, Ga. The Rev. Lee Jimerson will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hardaway was born Dec. 12, 1940 in Meriwether County, Ga., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Buford and Annis Hardaway. Truly a man of great fortitude, spirit, and love, Joe Henry extended an abundance of kindheartedness to all. Possessing an inner strength and ability to touch those in need, he served as a source of peaceful inspiration.

He joined Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where he served faithfully as the chairman of the Board of Deacons and other offices until his death. He attended Meriwether County Schools.

On March 28, 1964, he married Jannie Pearl Hardaway and they had three children, Audrey (Faye) Dwight and Tracy.

Well known by many, Mr. Hardaway was employed by Exposé as a crane operator until his disability forced him to retire. His parents; one sister, Lila Mae Brittian; and one brother, Glen Hardaway, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jannie Pearl Hardaway; three children, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hill (Audrey Faye); Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hardaway (Marguerite), and Tracy Hardaway; six grandchildren, Nakesha, Rashad, Cathea, and Dwight Hardaway Jr., Kaitlyn and Jalen Hill; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Jennie Lou) Hardaway, and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee (Mary) Colton; sister, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (Mary Nell) Black; mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tom (Lizzie) Johnson; father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert (Katie) Jackson; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ella Hardaway, Ms. Doris Amos and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd (Ella) Hardaway; seven brothers-in-law, Thomas Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Alma Jean) Johnson, Curtis Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Hubert Jackson, Jerome Jackson, and Melvin Jackson; three aunts, Mrs. Opal Hardaway, Mrs. Imogene Blackmon, and Mrs. Arlena Colton; four god-children, "Pokey," Carlos, Natasha and Tishara; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
