James B. Greene Sr.

Services for James B. Greene Sr., of Thomasville, are 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dennis Bingham will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Greene died March 2, 2005 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 9, 1924, in Mitchell Co., Ga., he was the son of the late Warren Elijah Greene and Mary Lee Clark Greene. He married Winiford Lois Bozeman Greene who preceded him in death on March 14, 1977. Mr. Greene was a member of First Assembly of God and was a welder for Davis Water and Waste. He was an avid fisherman and his greatest pastime was talking with his feathered friends. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James B. (Toby) Greene Jr. and Gloria of Thomasville; daughter and son-in-law, Sue G. Bingham and Dennis of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; and, sister, Ruby Mack of St. Marks, Fla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. — Allen & Allen Funeral Home

Ethel Mae Jackson Robinson

Services for Ethel Mae Jackson Robinson, 81, 136 Barnes St., Thomasville, are 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at New Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 418 Pine St., Thomasville. The Rev. Lenorris Dixon will officiate and interment is in Magnolia Cemetery in Thomasville. Active pallbearers are grandsons and honorary pallbearers are members of Aucilla Masonic Lodge. Mrs. Robinson was born in Quincy, Fla., on July 15, 1923, to the late Essie and Lillie Milton. She married Brooks Robinson Sr., on May 2, 1923. A housewife and mother, she was a member of Aucilla Chapter #1 O.E.S. and the Usher Board at New Olive Grove M. B. Church, where she was also a member. Mrs. Robinson died Feb. 28, 2005 at Archbold Medical Center. Survivors include sons, Willie C. (Earlene) Battle, Brooks Robinson Jr., Jimmy Robinson and Joseph (Faye) Robinson, all of Thomasville; daughters, Mary (Joe) Crawford of Thomasville and Ann D. Robinson of Atlanta; special cousin, Marge Mullins; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The viewing is Friday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. A wake is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church Saturday from 12 noon until the service. Beverly F. Bernier

Services for Beverly F. Bernier, 68, Pelham, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Hand Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Keith Goodlett will officiate and interment is in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Mrs. Bernier died Tuesday, March 1 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Born March 22, 1936 in DeKalb County, Ga., she was a homemaker and co-owner of Pelham Insurance Agency Inc. She was a member of Hand Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Walton C. Bernier of Pelham; three sons, Michael Walton Bernier of Pelham, Spencer Blake Bernier of Dacula, Jon Jeffrey Bernier of Alpharetta; a sister, Joann Parks of Stone Mountain; a brother, Bill Fagan of Evans; grandchildren, Sarah Bernier, Mitch Bernier, Nicholas Bernier and Natalie Bernier. Willie R. Jones

Services for Willie R. Jones, McCrayville, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2005 at St. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4556 Old 179 South, Calvary. The Rev. C.J. Henry will officiate and interment is in Crestview Cemetery, U.S. Hwy. 84 East, Cairo. Mr. Jones died Friday, Feb. 25. Born April 6, 1941 in Havana, Fla., he was the son of the late Henry Jones and Irene Hinson Jones. He attended the Grady County School System and was a member of the Saint Calvary M.B. Church. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. Survivors include five sons, Dewit Harrison, Curtis Harrison (Barbara), Willie Harrison (Tamilci), Timothy Harrison (Mary) and Michael Harrison; two daughters, Doris Harrison, Dion Campbell; two sisters; one brother; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchilden; one aunt; one uncle; nieces; nephews; cousins and other sorrowing friends. Marguerite Stagner West

Services for Marguerite Stagner West, 98, Cairo, are at 3 p.m., March 4, 2005 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Cairo. Interment is in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. West died March 1 at Grady General Hospital in Cairo. She was a bookkeeper and then a homemaker. Mrs. West graduated from Saint Leo Catholic School in San Antonio, Fla. She was a former member of the Plant City Lady Lions Club and former member and president of the Grady County Cow Bells. She was an active member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Survivors include a daughter, Susan DeBlase of South Carolina; a son, Harrell (Buddy) West of Cairo; and a sister-in-law, Susie Stagner of South Connellsville, Pa.; grandchildren, Brian West, Daniel West of Monks Corner, S.C., Regina West of Columbia, S.C., Frank, Billy, Tommy DeBlase of Rochester, N.Y., Bridget Ortega of Rochester, N.Y.; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Williams and Ida Hoey Stagner; husband, Harrell B. West; and sons, William Robert and Joseph Patrick West. Graveside services for Robert Franklin Shores, 66, Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo. The Rev. Johnny Cooper will officiate. Mr. Shores died Monday, Feb. 28 in Thomasville. Born April 20, 1938 in Fulton County, Ga., he was a son of the late William Coy and Bertha Moore Shores. He was a retired disabled veteran and a member of Pineland Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Alma Shores of Thomasville; daughters, Betty Ann Thomas of Reno, Beth McCurley of Cairo; sons, James Albert Cook of Daleville, Ala.; Thomas Cook of North Carolina; Roger Cook of Tampa, Fla.; and a sister, Dorothy L. Shores of Miami Beach, Fla. He was preceded by brothers, William G. Shores and Ronald A. Shores. — Clark Funeral Home

Emory Leroy Simpson

Services for Emory Leroy Simpson are at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home. Interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Tony Simpson Jr., Jeremiah Bullock, Danny Futch, Ricky Simpson, Ricky Hall and Martin Hall. Mr. Simpson died Feb. 28 at Archbold Medical Center. Born Sept. 24, 1935, he was a son of the late Judson Leland Simpson and Maggie Lou Pollock Simpson. On June 2, 1956 in Thomasville, he married Violet Janice Smith Simpson. Of the Baptist faith, he was a retired plumber and had lived in Thomasville since 1980. Survivors include his wife, Janice Simpson of Thomasville; daughter, Kathy Simpson Chaganis of Tallahassee, Fla.; sons, Tony Lee Simpson of Tallahassee, Emory Allen Simpson and wife, Cindy of Dixie, Joseph Enoch Simpson of Pavo, William Douglas Simpson of Pavo; eight grandchildren, Tony, Jeremiah, Melissa, Jennifer, Cody, Keith, Brooke and Luke; three sisters, Marie Futch of Palmetto, Fla., Allene Hurst of Thomasville, Emmie Hurst of Thomasville; and several nieces and nephews. Winifred King Bishop

Services for Winifred King Bishop, 86, are at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Springhill United Methodist Church in Whigham. The Rev. Rodney Porter will officiate and interment is in Springhill Cemetery, Active pallbearers are Wayne Morrison, Harry Flake, Jack Drew Jr., Robbie Ennis, Brandon Bond and Sam Drew. Mrs. Bishop died Sunday, Feb. 27 in Leesburg. Born Dec. 3, 1918 in Grady County, he was a son of the late Samuel B. and Ethel Martin King. She was married to Hershel Bishop on July 11, 1940. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1986. She was retired and a member of Springhill United Methodist Church in Whigham. Survivors include a sister, Bronnie King Flake of Albany formerly of Whigham; a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Bishop; a daughter, Adonna Bishop; her parents, Samuel B. and Ethel King; brothers, David King and Thornton King; and a sister, Geraldine King Cone. — Clark Funeral Home

James Cortez Wise Jr.

James Cortez Wise Jr. died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at his residence in Colquitt, La. after a long illness. He is mourned by a large family and the many friends of a lifetime spent in service to his nation, his neighbors and his community. Born July 25, 1920 in Mansfield, La., he grew up in Mansfield and Leesville, La. and lived for a time in Thomasville, Ga. until the family moved in 1953 to the community of Colquitt near Haynesville, La. He was a member of Colquitt Baptist Church, a building contractor and always a contributing member of the community. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of captain. Survivors include his children and spouses, Dot and Dave Wirth of Baton Rouge, La., Sue and Merrell Knighten of Shreveport, La., Marie and John Hardy of Great Cacapon, W.Va., Bobby and Patti Wise of Colquuitt; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death was his wife of 59 years, Bernice Andrews Wise formerly of Thomasville; two sons, Jim and Corky; parents, James C. and Ruth Wise; and a brother, Clayton Wise. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice. — Bailey Mortuary

Evelyn Lowther Bryant

Mrs. Evelyn Lowther Bryant, 78, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 25, 2005, at Baptist Village in Waycross, Ga., following a long illness. Mrs. Bryant was born in Thomasville, raised in Waycross, but had lived most of her adult life in Thomasville. She had lived at Baptist Village for the past three years. She was the daughter of the late Allen Fred Lowther and Elizabeth Griffin Lowther and was preceded in death by an infant son, Morris Allen Cox and a brother, Benny Fred Lowther. She was a member of Swamp Road Baptist Church. The survivors include a son, Dennis L. Cox, of Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter, Gail Lawrence (husband Bubba) of Waycross, Ga.; a brother, Robert A. Lowther of Sylvester, Ga.; six grandchildren, Tracy Luke (husband Ricky), Scott Brinson (wife Tina), Erica Cox, Lucy Lewis (husband James), Martin Highsmith, Robbie Cooper; and nine great grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at Swamp Road Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends at the church Sunday, Feb. 25, 2005, from 6 to 9 p.m. Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. — Music Funeral Home

Quenterious Reddick

Graveside services for Quenterious Reddick, five months, Thomasville, are at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Mitchell Cemetery in Metcalfe, Ga. Master Reddick died Feb. 25 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 7, 2004, in Thomas County, he was a son of Lakisha Mitchell Reddick and Herman Reddick Jr. Survivors include his parents, Lakisha Mitchell Reddick and Herman Reddick Jr.; brothers, Xavier Waters, Dashaun Mitchell, both of Thomasville; a maternal grandmother, Mattie Mitchell, of Thomasville, Ga.; a maternal grandfather, Kevin Mitchell, of Whigham, Ga.; a paternal grandfather, Herman Reddick Sr., of Thomasville, Ga.; a paternal grandmother, Gail Rodger of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of other relatives. — Grooms Funeral Home

Helen Lawrence Luke

Services for Helen Lawrence Luke, 81, of Meigs, Ga., will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, Ga. Interment will be at Big Ochlocknee Cemetery. The Rev. Julian Griner will officiate and casketbearers will be Buddy Stanaland, Keith Stanaland, John Deariso, Casey Scott, Ronnie Barlow and Jamey Tucker. Mrs. Luke died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born in Winter Garden, Fla., Jan. 29, 1924, Mrs. Luke was the daughter of the late Claudie Lee Parmer Lawrence and the late Arthur Griggs Lawrence. She retired from Southern Bell as a telephone operator and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, Ralph A. Luke, of Meigs, two daughters, Miriam Smith, of Moultrie, Ga., and Donna Deariso and husband John, all of Tifton, Ga.; two sisters, Doris Stanaland, of Meigs, Ga., and Emma Lee Barlow, of Ochlocknee, Ga.; four grandchildren, Mandi Smith Ladson and Angie Smith Tucker, both of Moultrie, and Amy Lee Deariso and Christie Kate Deariso, both of Tifton, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Abigale Anne Ladson and Quinten Ramsey Tucker. Robert Lenwood Warren

Services for Robert Lenwood Warren, 58, of Pelham, Ga., will be Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Braswell Funeral Home Chapel in Pelham, Ga. Interment will be at Pinecrest Memory Gardens, in Pelham, Ga. Mr. Warren died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 12, 1946 in Pelham, Ga., he was the son of the late Ernie Warren and Thelma Hickey Warren. He attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church and had been an electrical contractor since 1965. Mr. Warren was also a U.S. Army veteran, where he was a running back for his battalion football team. He was a member of the Smith Spence American Legion Post #144 and Electrical Contractors of Georgia, a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, co-founder of the first Mitchell Co. cancer support group and volunteer team and a 1965 graduate of Pelham High School, where he was the star running back for the Pelham High Hornets. He also attended Georgia Southwestern College and later attended Thomas Tech and graduated there. He was also inducted into the Mitchell County Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. Survivors include his wife, Frieda Glenn Warren, of Pelham, whom he married Sept. 19, 1970, a son, Chad and Missy Warren, of Pelham, Ga.; three grandchildren, Stephanie LeAnne Warren, Brian Lee Warren and Brian Robert Warren, all of Pelham; two brothers, David and Allene Warren, of Albany, Ga., and Vic and Jane Warren, of Camilla, Ga.; two sisters, Bobbie and Tom Eroh of Covington, Va.; Sarah and Bill Randall of Zuni, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Dale and Jimmy Ragan, of Thomasville; Lori Glenn, of Moultrie; Flo Hand Beutell, of Pine Mountain, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Glenn, of Thomasville, Stuart Glenn, of Pelham; a mother-in-law, Louise Glenn, of Pelham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Warren was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Warren, a sister, Betty Warren and a father-in-law, J.W. Glenn.
