Regina Flowers
Regina W. Flowers, 54, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999, after a short illness. She was a native of Tattnall County and had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a former employee of Glen-Alert, and a member of First United Pentecostal Church. She was the widow of Mickey Flowers.
She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Howard of Townsend and Karen Flowers of Waycross; one son, Kenneth Flowers of Glennville; her mother, Leola Davidson of Darien; two sisters, Helje Alford of Darien and Diane W. Sala of New Jersey; four brothers: Terry Tillman and Richard Waher of Jesup; Ron Tillman of Surrency; and Gary Don Waher, Sr., of Reidsville; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 19, at 2 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial was in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Waher, Terry Tillman, Ron Tillman, Kevin Wiggins, Gary Wayne Waher, and Gary Don Waher, Sr.

Gladys Harrell
Gladys Cranford Harrell, 93, died Saturday, November 20, 1999, at Glenvue Nursing Home after an extended illness. The Dodge County native had lived in the Glennville area for the past 75 years. She was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for several years.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Gwen and Coolidge Waters of Glennville; Linda and Terrell Futch of Glennville; and Janice and Mance Cason of Morehead, North Carolina; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Elizabeth Harrell and Elton and Patsy Harrell, all of Glennville; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 22, at 3 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Mance Cason, the Rev. Rick Cason, and the Rev. Reuben Cason officiating. Burial was in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donald Harrell, Elton Harrell, Jimmy Harrell, William Harrell, Ben Evans, and Al Allen.

Bobby H. Salter
Bobby H. Salter, 54, died Saturday, November 20, 1999, after a short illness. He was a native of Tattnall County, and was a heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death Thursday by his mother, Mrs. Margaret W. Salter.
He is survived by his father, Johnny Hugh Salter of Glennville; one sister, Gail Dinkins of Glennville; and one brother, Ricky Salter of Melbourne, Florida.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, at Birdford Baptist Church Cemetery, with Elder William Tidwell officiating. Burial was in Birdford Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Aubrey Durrence; Danny Dinkins, Jr.; Clinton Dasher, Jr.; Dannis Brannen; Jack Weathers; and John Tidwell.

Margaret Salter
Margaret W. Salter, 71, died Thursday, November 18, 1999, at Tattnall Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was a native of Tattnall County, and was a Baptist. She was retired from Glennville Alert Manufacturing Company.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny H. Salter of Glennville; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Danny Dinkins of Glennville; two sons, Bobby Salter of Glennville and Ricky Salter of Melbourne, Florida; one sister, Bernie Wilson of Reidsville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 21, at 2 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home Glennville Chapel, with Elder William Tidwell officiating. Burial was in the Glennville City Cemetery.

John F. Scales
John F. Scales, 72, of Vidalia died Friday, November 19, 1999, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a brief illness. He was the son of James Phillips and Cressa Alpharetta Scales. He was a 1945 graduate of Albany High School, and served in the Navy in 1945 and 1946. He was a retired Field Engineer with the National Cash Register Corporation with over 40 years' service, retiring January 1, 1990. He served on the Salvation Army Advisory Committee. He was a charter member and instrumental in the organization of Grace United Methodist Church of Vidalia, serving as Board Chairman, Finance Chairman, and Conference Delegate and Historian.
He is survived by his wife, Burney Mann Scales of Vidalia; one son, James Steven Scales of Alpharetta; one daughter, Sandra Clark of Hahira; one sister, Peggy Horn of Milton, Florida; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 22, at 2 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Bill Reincheld, officiating. Interment was in the Glennville City Cemetery.

Leon D. Baker
Leon D. Baker, 45, died Thursday, December 9, 1999, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Evans County. He was a native and lifelong resident of Tattnall County, a poultry farmer, and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Janet C. Baker of Glennville; one son, Jason Baker of Glennville; two daughters, Leigh Flury and Julie Baker, both of Glennville; his mother, Marcelyn Baker of Glennville; a brother, Larry Baker of Glennville; a sister and brother-in-law, Libby and Carlos Reeves of Glennville; a sister-in-law, Anita Baker of Glennville; and two grandchildren, Ariel Flury and Scott Flury, both of Glennville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 11, at Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church, with the Rev. W. H. Durrence officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Hugh Hutcheson
Hugh (Red) Hutcheson, 68, died Saturday, December 11, 1999, at his residence after a short illness. The Tattnall County native was a retired farmer and a retired school bus driver. He was a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Becky Stinson of Collins and Sharon Shuman of Reidsville; one son, Lonnie Hutcheson of Lyons; three sisters: Bay Hutcheson, Edna Dees, and Valdaree Lynn, all of Collins; one brother, Sammy Hutcheson of Collins; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 13, at Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville Chapel, with the Rev. Lester Whitehead officiating. Burial was in the Little Flock Church Cemetery.

Brinton Lynn, 67, died Friday, December 10, 1999, at Candler General Hospital in Savannah after a long illness. He was a native of Tattnall County and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Lynn of Glennville; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Tommy Boneschans of Glennville; one son and daughter-in-law, Timmy and Sherri Lynn of Lyons; five sisters: Ora Bell Blocker, Mabell Kicklighter, Leatha Byrum, and Evelyn Lynn, all of Glennville, and Annie Mae Anderson of Tucson, Arizona; two brothers, Earl Lynn and Winton Lynn, both of Glennville; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 12, at Cobb Funeral Home in Glennville, with the Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.

Ila Mae Cowart
Ila Mae Cowart, 77, died Sunday, January 23, 2000, at Appling Health Care System in Baxley after an extended illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County and a retired seamstress. She was a member of the Collins Assembly of God. She was the widow of Hubert Cowart and was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Dale Cowart.
She is survived by two daughters, Eleanor Hardee of Baxley and Gwendolyn C. Dennis of Collins; two sons, Gilbert Cowart of Collins and K. C. Cowart of Egypt, Georgia; one sister, Ruby Roberts of Hardeeville, South Carolina; two brothers, Milton Findley of Statesboro and Lewis Findley of Savannah; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, at the Collins Assembly of God, with the Rev. Grady Acree officiating. Burial was in the Little Flock Church Cemetery.

Buck Strickland
Millard J. (Buck) Strickland, 82, died Saturday, January 22, 2000, at his residence in Glennville after a short illness. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of his life. He was retired from the Tattnall County Board of Education as custodian at the Glennville High School. He worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a farmer. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Dora Lee and Gordon Colson of Claxton; Lenell and Charles Sikes of Waycross; and Melbalene and James Bugajski of Glennville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lamont and RosaLee Strickland of Glennville, and Thurman and Elaine Strickland of Savannah; two sisters, Nora Standard of Crystal River, Florida, and Virginia Whitmer of Brunswick; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Knight and the Rev. Jimmy Bargeron. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Mike Strickland, Jimmy Bugajski, Dent Norton, Avery Strickland, Charley Sikes, and Greg Strickland.

Herbert Love
Herbert E. "Turk" Love, 75, died December 20, 1999, at Pleasant View Convalescent Hospital in California after a long illness. He was a native of Maryland, moving to Jacksonville, Florida, and later to Palo Alto, California, for the past 23 years. He was a retired auto mechanic and a Methodist.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Steve Browning of Savannah, Georgia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and JonAnn Love of Claxton, Georgia, and Keith and Leslie Love of Glennville, Georgia; two sisters, Alice Prender of Palo Alto, California, and Margaret Ann Hayes of Bel Air, Maryland; one brother, Bobby Love of Ocean View, Delaware; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Love and Russell Love of Glennville and Angell Beach and Lani Love of Ridgeland, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2000, in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Thomas Perryman
Thomas W. Perryman, 88, died Thursday, January 27, 2000, at Glenvue Nursing Home after a long illness. The Alabama native had lived in Glennville for many years. He was a retired welder/pipefitter with Georgia Natural Gas Company. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn B. Perryman of Glennville; five daughters: Nell Bush and Norma Jean Whitfield of Alabama; Eulene Campbell of Glennville; Willa Dean Price of Moundville, Alabama; and Emma Jean Eason of Garden City; three sons: Thomas Perryman of Boise, Idaho; Jackie Perryman of Atlanta; and Phillip Perryman of Tennessee; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 31, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Bargeron and the Rev. Lawrence Garrett officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Elma Purvis
Elma Dubberly Purvis, 96, died Friday, January 28, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. The Wayne County native had lived most of her life in Tattnall County. She was a homemaker and a member of Mendes Baptist Church. She was the widow of Ivey Lee Purvis.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Paul DeLoach of West Monroe, Louisiana; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Clarence and Carolyn T. Purvis of Glennville; Ira Vondes and Medra B. Purvis of Savannah; and Preston Purvis of Waynesboro (the late Becky Purvis was also a daughter-in-law); one sister, Dova Lou D. Smith of Marietta; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 30, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, with the Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Interment was in Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Johnny Reddish
Johnny Reddish, 93, died Saturday, January 29, 2000, at his residence after a short illness. The Tattnall County native was the oldest member of Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Lisa and John Reding of Bronson, Florida, and Larry and Elizabeth Reddish of Virginia Beach, Virginia; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, at Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harris Nix officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Quinton Rush, Wayne Tatum, Eugene "Tiny" Tatum, James Tatum, Dale Tatum, and Joe Brewton.

Viola M. Waters
Viola M. Waters, 91, died Thursday, January 27, 2000, in Glenvue Nursing Home where she was a resident for nine years. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a retired sales clerk and a homemaker. She was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Eunice Baxter Sunday School Class and a member of the Golden Age Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Maderia Smith of Reidsville; one son, Lethridge Waters of Glennville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2000, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, with the Rev. Keith Rustin and the Rev. Jerry Knight officiating. Burial was in the Glennville City Cemetery.
