Louise L. Anderson, 74
Louise L. Anderson, 74, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Long County and attended the county’s public schools. She was a retired Civil Service employee and was a member of Greater Zachariah Baptist Church. She was also a Star of Glennville Chapter #162.
She is survived by five daughters, Etrendel A. Green of Ellabell, Virginia A. Long of College Park, Marilyn A. Brown of Savannah, Marlene Anderson of Glennville, and Katrina L. Hagan of Richmond Hill; son Charles W. Anderson of Glennville; sisters, Helen Marimon of Oviedo, FL; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held, Saturday, March 29, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at Greater Zachariah Baptist Church in Glennville. Burial followed in Sandhill Cemetery.
Michael and Brown Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Crystal (Cricket) Leigh Hilliard, 21
Miss Crystal (Cricket) Leigh Hilliard, 21, of Collins, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Evans Memorial Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident. She was a legal secretary at Jones & Smith PC in Metter and a member of Light House Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her parents, Larry and Carolyn Hilliard; brother, Jonathan Hilliard; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Dustin Lively; niece and nephew, Linnsey and Alex Lively, all of Collins; her fiancé, Harry Eason of Claxton; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. Gregg Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery.
Cousins served as pallbearers.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Vaska Lee Johnson, 67
Vaska Lee Johnson, 67, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Tattnall Community Hospital in Reidsville.
The Tattnall County native had lived in Collins all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God in Collins.
She is survived by two brothers, Elvin Johnson and Wendell Johnson, both of Collins; four sisters, Cora Cobb, Oneida Oliver, Bonnell Youmans and Faye Screen, all of Collins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2003, in the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Roy T. Rolls, 78
Roy T. Rolls, 78, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Tattnall County native was a veteran of WWII, a retired security guard with the Mascot Pecan Company and a carpenter.
He is survived by daughters, Elaine Keene of Douglas, Darlene Huggins of Statesboro, and Diane Rolls of Loganville; sons, Tommy Rolls of Reidsville, Andy Rolls of Douglasville, and Roger Rolls of Glennville; sister, Lois Barrow of Glennville; brothers, Lester Rolls of Glennville and Prentice Rolls of Lithonia; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with Rev. Don Hughes officiating. Burial followed in DeLoach Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Craig Carter, Jimmy McCurdy, Gene Banks, Johnny Barrow, Sam Iddins, Winston DeLoach.
Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Shayne Lanier Spikes, 23
Shayne Lanier Spikes, 23, died Friday, March 28, 2003. He was a 1997 graduate of Claxton High School, a graduate of Ogeechee Technical College and was attending Georgia Southern University. He was a member of the Claxton Volunteer Fire Department, something he was very proud of and dedicated to, and, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Shayne loved to write poetry and just this week wrote something special about our soldiers engaged in war. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Audy and Sarah B. Spikes.
He is survived by his father and mother, Ronnie and Rene’ Spikes of Claxton; his maternal grandparents, Ashton and Virginia Lanier of Claxton; one aunt, Lynn Lanier of Claxton; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 30, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Claxton with Rev. Sterling Bargeron officiating. Burial followed at Brewton Cemetery.
Remembrances can be made to Claxton Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 829, Claxton, GA 30417.

Mathew Stanfield, 18
Mathew Stanfield, 18, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah. The Evans County native had lived in Reidsville most of his life. He was employed by Ulmer Drywall and attended Reidsville Church of God. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, J.R. Stanfield.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy Wilson of Reidsville; father and stepmother, Billy and Faye Stanfield of Glennville; one brother, Justin Stanfield of Reidsville; maternal grandparents, E.O. and Alice Brazell of Reidsville; paternal grandmother, Margaret Stanfield of Reidsville; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, in the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grace Wilds, 68
Grace Wilds, 68, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center. The Virginia native had lived in Tattnall County for 45 years and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Barrow of Reidsville and Betty Jean Hunter of Claxton; stepdaughter, Wilma Baker of Glennville; son, John Barrow of Dublin; sisters, Julia Akers of Roanoke, VA, and Frances Jones of VA; brother, Jimmy Overstreet of VA; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 29, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel. Burial followed in Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

David E. Altman, Jr., 79
David E. Altman, Jr., 79, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at his home in Evans County. The Ware County native had resided in Jacksonville, Collins, and Savannah before moving to Evans County 15 years ago. He was a member of the Claxton Primitive Baptist Church and a 50 year member of Richard T. Turner (Pooler) Masonic Lodge. He was WWII Navy Veteran and served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jessie Collins Altman of Claxton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dian and Stan Vincent of Guyton, Joyce Barnes of Pt. Wentworth, and Denise and Mark Marvin of Richmond Hill; one brother, Donald Altman of Stark, FL; two sisters, Idelle Dyal of Jacksonville and Lucille Smith of Callahan, FL; eight grandchildren, Billy and Scott Sellers, Stephanie Harvey, Kerri Moore, Randi Barnes, and Chris, Alex, and Sarah Marvin; four great-grandchildren, Garrett, Lane, and David Harvey, and Brigs Moore; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5 at 11:00 a.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jimmy Haire and Elder Vernon Eckleberry officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Claxton Primitive Baptist Church.
Remembrances may be sent to Pearls of Life Hospice, 119 N. Caswell Street, Glennville, GA 30427.

Eloise Moxley Beshires, 88
Mrs. Eloise Moxley Beshires, 88, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Metter Nursing Home. A homemaker and a native of Cobbtown, she was active in community affairs in Cobbtown. She was a life long member of Cobbtown United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Orland Beshires; daughter, Carolyn Mangum Toler; and sister, Edna Coleman.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kate and Bob Webster of Bloomingdale; son, Bobby Beshires of Glennville; grandchildren, Tony and Terry Sapp, Sherri Kratzer, and Mike and Julie Chavis; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Burial followed in Sunlight Cemetery in Cobbtown.
Pallbearers were Don Lanier, Marvin Moxley, Harry Martin, Kermit Martin, Charles Coleman and Buddy Collins.
In lieu of flowers the family request remembrances be made to Cobbtown United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
Wood Funeral Home of Metter was in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille Evans, 87
Mrs. Lucille Evans, 87, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Claxton Nursing Home. The Dooley County native lived most of her life in Collins. She was a homemaker, a member of the Collins United Methodist Church and active with the Tattnall-Evans Association For Retarded Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Evans and son, Michael Evans.
She is survived by her sister, Dean Scott of Collins and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 7, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home, Cobbtown Chapel, with burial in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tony Smith and Rev. David Hudson officiated.
Nephews and great nephews served as pallbearers.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home, Cobbtown Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Hilda Collins Holloway, 85
Mrs. Hilda Collins Holloway, 85, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Church Street Manor in Swainsboro. The Tattnall County native lived most of her life in Metter. She was a retired school teacher since 1977, a member of the Metter First Baptist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class and an avid bridge player. She was predeceased by her husband, Simmons E. Holloway and a son, Eddie Holloway.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nita and Scott Livingston of Swainsboro; a daughter-in-law, Linda Holloway Craft; brother, Dickey Collins of Cobbtown; sister, Marion Rogers of Cobbtown; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with burial in Lake Cemetery. Rev. Fred Pifer officiated.
Pallbearers were Mike Collins, Mark Collins, Shane Edenfield, Mike Grace, Joe Pittman, Jim Pittman and Joey Pittman. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Fidelis Sunday School class.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home, Hooks Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
