KENNETH I. JOHNSON, 58, of Kailua, died Dec. 7, 2000. Born in Honolulu. Retired from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Shop No. 06 and the Hawai‘i Air National Guard; also an H-3 tunnel maintenance worker. Survived by wife, Maureen; daughter, Nadine Peltier; sons, Kenneth "Keone" and Jonathan; mother, Thelma Johnson; 12 grandchildren; brother, Rodney; sister, Darleen Clark. A World War II veteran who was among first Southern enlistees in the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve; former personal secretary to the manager of the Moana-Surfrider Hotel; owned and operated gift shops at Hanalei Plantation, the Coco Palms Hotel, and the Blue Door and Village Gallery art shops with her husband, the late Donald Towler. Survived by daughters, Michele Towler and April Kaulukukui; four grandchildren; sister, Grace Young. Private service.
