Appointed a commissioner by former Mayor Neil Blaisdell and in the 1950s and 1960s, was state treasurer of the Democratic Party under Gov. John Burns. Survived by daughter, Suelyn Ching Tune; son, M.Y. Chip Ching; grandson, Rick Tune; brother, Hung Wai Ching; sister, Bessie Loo.
