THUESEN, LORNA JANE, 76 of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home and formerly of Hudson died Saturday, July 10, 1999 at the home of natural causes. She was born August 17, 1922 on a farm near Dinsdale, Iowa the daughter of John and Bertha (Sell) Petersen. She married Charles Thuesen February 27, 1947 at The Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. He died January 25, 1997. Lorna and Charles farmed near Cedar Falls for many years.
Survivors include her son, Rich of Cedar Falls, two daughters, Marcia Williams of Hudson and Janeene Mikkelsen of Waterloo, five grandchildren, Brian and Michael Thuesen, Tom Williams, Kelly Reeves, and Todd Mikkelsen, five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Lay, Alexis Reeves, Kirsten and Caitlyn Williams, one brother, Clarence Petersen of Hudson, and three sisters, Lucille Karkosh of Reinbeck, LaVera Behrns of Traer and Gladys Rego of Hayward, California. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Leona Schreck, Lizzie Karkosh and Lorene Jensen.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 1999 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.

TIMMER, RUTH was born December 5, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Chris and Jennie (Grarup) Vognsen. She married Sander Timmer on September 6, 1941 at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Cedar Falls, Iowa. Ruth was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was a nurse’s aide at Sartori Memorial Hospital for over 15 years. She also volunteered with the Black Hawk County Senior Companion Program. Ruth died Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at her home in Cedar Falls, at 80 years of age.
Survivors include Roger and Barb Timmer of Cedar Falls, and Vicki Bravender of Boca Raton, Florida; four grandchildren, Kristi and Staci Bravender, both of Boca Raton, Florida, and Angie Schmidt and Randy Timmer, both of Waverly, Iowa; a great-grandson, Jamie Schmidt of Waverly; three brothers, Chris Vognsen, Jr. of Cedar Falls, Lester and Letty Vognsen of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and George and Pat Vognsen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and two sisters, Helen Hahn of Cedar Falls, and Myrna and Kenny Hahn of Columbus, Georgia. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and a son, Harry Timmer.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2002, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. A memorial fund will be established.

TIMMER, VALBORG H., was born June 27, 1915, in rural Dike, Iowa, the daughter of Peter Anton and Marie (Christiansen) Christiansen. She married Fred Timmer on January 8, 1938 at Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1992. Valborg was a 1934 graduate of Dike Community High School. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband for many years. Valborg died Monday, October 30, 2000, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa, at 85 years of age.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolynn Messer and her husband John of Scottsdale, Arizona; two grandchildren, Cheri Hodges of Scottsdale, Arizona and Steven Messer of Pine, Arizona; a sister, Paula Sells and her husband Louie of Grundy Center, Iowa, as well as nieces and nephews. Valborg was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a brother, Carl Christiansen and a niece, Linda Gabbard.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2000, at Fredsville Lutheran Church, with burial at Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery, both in rural Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church.

TREICHEL, RACHEL P. was born June 12, 1905 on a farm near Badger, Iowa the daughter of Lars & Bertha (Suvde Braland) Ponsness. She taught for eight years in rural schools of Webster County then was a clerk for three years at John Deere & Company in Waterloo until her marriage to Emanuel Treichel on May 18, 1946 in Hillsdale, Kansas. Rachel died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in Waterloo, Iowa at the age of 97 years.
Survivors include one step daughter, Faith Niedert, of Waterloo and one sister; Alice Kleckner, of Madisonville, Kentucky. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, and five sisters.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2003 at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church with burial in Waterloo Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the church.

TREMAINE, MABEL M. , 91, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. Mabel was born November 4, 1912 at Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of John and Matilda (Koch) Bock. She married Edward Wilharm Tremaine on January 15, 1939 at Sumner. He died July 29, 1993.
She is survived by four daughters, Carol (James) Lantow of Rochester, Minnesota, JoAnn (John) Hayes of Encinitas, California, Mary Lou Lamb of Carlsbad, California and Barbara Browning of Lees Summit, Missouri; nine grandchildren, John Lantow, Jennifer Carlson, David Hayes, Jeanne Gable, Diane Roerig, Joseph Hayes, Jeffrey Lamb, Bryan Lamb and Ryan Browning; seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Reinhold Bock of Sumner and LaVerne (Ruth) Bock of Rock Falls, Illinois and a sister, Lelia (Donald) Taylor of Sumner.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and three sisters, Emma Schumacher, Esther Lenton and Bernita Bock.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, at St. John Lutheran Church, with intermenty at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 6 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel or St. John Lutheran Church.

TRUEG, HENRY JOHN was born August 14, 1913 in Grundy County, Iowa the son of Louis and Hannah (Tjebkes) Trueg. He married Rosalyn Ida Andreessen on October 1, 1938 in Waverly, Iowa. Henry was a machinist at Viking Pump Company in Cedar Falls for 35 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Western Avenue Gospel Hall in Waterloo, Iowa. Henry died Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo at 89 years of age.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalyn, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Roger (Barbara) Trueg of Dike, Iowa and Russell (Jeanne) Trueg of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Carolyn (Joe) Hess of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandchild; four sisters; Freda Wilson, Louise Hundley, Lucille Trueg and Annie Andreessen; and a brother, Edward Trueg.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2002, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Western Ave. Gospel Hall in Waterloo, Iowa.

TRUMAN, CHARLES D. was born August 3, 1928 in Tipton, Iowa, the son of George Truman, Sr. and Golda Bernet. He married Helen Vaughn and they later divorced. Charles married Frances Crosby Lund and they later divorced. He was an equipment dealer for Clay Equipment Company in both Cedar Falls and Wisconsin for many years. Charles also farmed near Shell Rock, Iowa until his retirement. He died Friday, April 6, 2001 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, at 72 years of age.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Nancy Wedemeier and her husband Duane of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Annette Hyde, and her husband Tom, of Fairbank, Iowa, and Marshall Wedemeier of Waterloo; his brother, Virgil Truman, and his wife Sandra, of Lawler, Iowa, and two sisters, Lucille Carrier and Lois Leffler. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Truman, Jr. and Robert Truman, and a sister, Marie.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Interment will be at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Allen Memorial Hospital.

TUCKER, JAMES RICHARD was born August 26, 1910 in Rouleau, Saskatchewan, Canada the son of Chester Blaine and Christine (Richards) Tucker. He married Dorothy Rollins April 24, 1954 in Waterloo, Iowa. James served in 315th Troop Carrier Division of the U.S. Army Air Force as a glider pilot during World War II. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1949 then worked for John Deere until his retirement in 1975 where he was an engineer. James died Wednesday, January 6, 1999 at the Western Home Martin Center at the age of 88 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Cedar Falls, one sister, Adelaide Belle Reed of Muncie, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eneline Albert and Virginia Mitchell and one brother, Chester Everett Tucker.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 1999 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Garden of Memories in Waterloo, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund, the Western Home, or the Mayo Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota.

TURNER, DEAN, 41, of Cedar Falls died Sunday, September 27, 2003 at Sartori Memorial Hospital. Dean was born on January 12, 1962 at Cedar Falls, Iowa the son of Verne and Evelyn (Sands) Turner.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Turner of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two brothers, Scott Turner of Cedar Falls and Gene Turner of Sumner, Iowa. Dean was preceded in death by his father, Verne Turner and one brother, Don O. Turner.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with cremation following. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

UBAN II, CHARLES JOHN , was born June 29, 1921 in Thompson, Iowa, the son of John and Mildred (Jensen) Uban. He married Emma Jo Schnucker on August 2, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa. Charles was a graduate of West Waterloo High School and Iowa State University. He was a pilot in the China National Aviation Corps AVG (Flying Tigers) during WW II. Charles was stationed in the India-Burma theatre of operations and was decorated by the U.S. Air Force with the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and 4 Bronze Service Stars, as well as decorations from the Chinese government. He was a pilot for Pan-Am Airlines and served two terms as State Representative. Charles owned and operated Uban Oil Company in Waterloo for over 50 years, receiving a citation from Governor Branstad for “Excellence in Energy Conservation”. He died Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at 82 years of age.
Charles is survived by his wife, Emma Jo, of Waterloo; three sons, C. John (Judy) Uban of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Stephen (Nicolle) Uban of Stillwater, Minnesota and Mark (Karen) Uban of West Frankfort, Illinois; two daughters, Jolynn Grace of St. Croix, Virgin Islands and Mary Ann Uban of Chaska, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren, Aaron (Georgette) Uban, Sera and Jesse Harold, Kristina and Julia Uban, Will, Jacob and Eli Uban, Isaac Uban, Scott, Carly and Mitch Elmgren; and two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Sophia Uban. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Theo Uban, and two sisters, Mary and Helen.
A memorial service was 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2003 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Charles J. Uban Memorial, Hartman Reserve Nature Center, 657 Reserve Dr., Cedar Falls, Iowa 50613.

VAN CLEAVE, EDWARD A. was born June 11, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Ernest and Nina (Cranston) Van Cleave. He married Robbye Eichmeier in Ackley, Iowa on November 18, 1978. Ed served in the Army during the Vietnam era. He was employed as a Sales Representative with Baxter Health Care Corporation for 26 years. Ed died Monday, January 29, 2001 in Little Rock, Arkansas at 56 years of age.
Survivors include his wife, Robbye, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Michael of Chicago, Illinois and Adam at home; three daughters, Abbye at home, Kris O’Connor of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Kelli Krueger of Waterloo, Iowa; six grandchildren, Ryan, Alyson, Hunter, and Brooke O’Connor and Emery and Addison Krueger; and his sister, Patricia Arenholz of Waterloo, Iowa.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2001 at Orchard Hill Church with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund will be established.

VAN DORN, ESTELLA L., was born June 15, 1901 in Waverly, Iowa , the daughter of Edward and Ada (Fuller) Van Dorn. She was a graduate of Waverly High School then taught at country schools near Waverly, Readlyn, Horton, and Shell Rock, Iowa. Estella graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (U.N.I.) and was an elementary school teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Cedar Falls for over 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Waverly, was a lifetime member of the Iowa State Teachers Association, and was a Sunday School and Summer Bible Class teacher. Estella died Wednesday, November 29, 2000 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home at 99 years of age.
She is survived by her brother, Galen and his wife, Mary, of Waterloo, Iowa, two sisters, Ada Bloom of Three Rivers, Michigan and Mary Ellen Wallbaum of Waverly. Estella was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Leighton, Rex, Stuart, Romane, and Lyle Van Dorn, and two sisters, Vesta Nicol and Vivian Roever.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2000, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Interment will be at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, 211 Third St. SW, Waverly, Iowa 50677.

VAN HEUVELEN, HELENE MARIA ELSA (LENA) , 100, of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, died Friday, May 18, 2001. She was born September 1, 1900, in Rudd, Iowa, the daughter of Johann F. and Bertha Amelia (Handt) Lewke. Lena married Hiram Van Heuvelen on September 1, 1923, in Mason City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1974.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Howard of Cedar Falls; three grandsons, Bruce Howard of Guam, David Howard of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Alan Howard of Cedar Falls, and three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Nathan and Lindsey. Lena was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two sisters, Martha Fike and Bertha Lewke, and two brothers, Max and Erwin Lewke.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2001, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

VAN LENGEN, GERTRUDE was born October 31, 1920, in Allison, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob F. and Lizzie (Siems) Folkers. She married John Van Lengen August 31, 1938 in Waverly, Iowa. Gert retired from Hawkeye Corrugated Box Co. in 1985. She died Sunday, December 30, 2001, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at the age of 81 years.
Gert is survived by her husband, John Van Lengen of Janesville, Iowa; one son, John J. Van Lengen of Janesville, Iowa; two daughters, Dorothy Wilmot and Jo Ann Gronowski, both of Cedar Falls, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Folkers and Jake Folkers, Jr., both of Cedar Falls, Iowa and one sister, Ruth Smith of Evansdale, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Fred, Ben and Ray Folkers; one sister, Sena Adelmund and one son-in-law, Chuck Wilmot.
Funeral services were 1:30 Thursday, January 3, 2002 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home & Cremation Service with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. A memorial fund will be established.

VAN MILL, DICK was born March 9, 1903 near Buck Grove, Iowa, the son of John and Hilda (Schutte) Van Mill. He was saved January 4, 1925. Dick married Froney De Buhr on January 5, 1926 at New Hartford, Iowa. He and Froney were received into assembly fellowship at Stout. In 1986 Dick and Froney moved to Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 14, 1988. Dick was a building contractor for many years in the New Hartford, Stout and Cedar Falls area. He died Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at 96 years of age.
Dick is survived by his son, Richard Van Mill and his wife Pauline of Shell Rock, Iowa; his two daughters, Elaine Rossow and her husband Donald of Marion, Iowa and Helene Harmon and her husband Ken of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; two brothers, George and Cornelius "C.J." Van Mill and a great grandson, Jon Harmon.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999 at the Stout Gospel Hall in Stout, Iowa, with burial at Beaver Grove Cemetery near New Hartford, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established.
