Elizabeth A. Kober
Services: Services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at 10:30 am at the Ripley UCC in Traer with visitation on Monday from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer. Burial will be at the Buckingham Cemetery in Traer.

Elizabeth Ann Kober was born on a farm near Traer on March 10, 1916, the daughter of Frank & Millie (Vogt-Safley) Kober. Elizabeth was raised near Traer and received her education in country school and later graduated from the Traer High School with the class of 1933. She then attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught in rural schools for many years. Elizabeth loved the farm life and was a wonderful gardener and kept wonderful flower gardens. She will also be remembered for her fine cooking. In her younger years she was very active in the life of the Ripley United Church of Christ in Traer, where she also taught Sunday school. On December 3rd of this year she became a patient at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, and on Friday, December 15, 2000, it was there that she passed away at the age of 84 years. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and a brother John in 1980; she is survived by 3 sisters; Katherine & Bertha Kober of Traer, and Pauline Kober of Waterloo.

Theodore Kubik
Services: Visitation is on Sunday, August 26, 2001 from 3-6pm at Overton Funeral Home in Traer. The funeral service is also at the funeral home in Traer on Monday, August 27, 2001 at 1:30 pm. Burial is at Buckingham Cemetery in rural Traer followed by a lunch at the United Presbyterian Church in Traer.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the family.
Theodore Kubik was born November 11, 1914 at Clutier, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Mary (Yuska) Kubik. He received his education at Buckingham Schools then began farming. Ted farmed north of Traer for many years with his brother Milo. They also ran a sawmill on the farm and Ted enjoyed woodworking and cutting lumber. Ted lived with his mother on the farm and continued to reside there following her death in 1967.More recently his health had failed and he was a resident at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. His death came at the care center on Thursday, August 23, 2001 at the age of 86 years. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Joe, Frank & Milo, and two sisters: Hermina Dostal & Alba Mareska. He is survived by a brother, Ed Kubik of Hudson, IA, two sisters, Emma Bern of Gladbrook, IA and Mary Stanek of Toledo, IA and several nieces and nephews.

Larry D. Larsen
Services:
Visitation is on Wed., June 6, 2001 from 4-8pm at Overton Funeral Home in Traer. The funeral service will also be at the funeral home on Thurs., June 7, 2001 at 10:30 am. Burial is at Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, followed by a lunch at the Traer Memorial Building.

Larry Dean Larsen was born on September 19, 1944 at Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Tom and Amalia “Molly” (Hledik) Larsen. He received his education at Traer, IA was then employed by Harder Sinclair Service in Traer. Larry then entered the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge he was employed at Tuffree Chevrolet Buick Motor Co. On December 27, 1969 he was united in marriage to Bette Harding at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They made their home in Traer where Larry continued to work as a mechanic and was working at Dinsdale’s Phillips 66 station at the time of his retirement. In free moments Larry enjoyed his motorcycle and camping with his family and friends. In recent years Larry’s health had failed and he was a resident of the Williamsburg Care Center where his death came on Monday, June 4, 2001 at the age of 56 years. Larry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Bette of Traer, two daughters, Beverly (Mrs. Jim) Krakow of Marengo, IA and Rhonda (Mrs. Jay) Hall also of Marengo, IA, a brother, Paul Larsen of Chattanooga, TN, two step sons, Jerry Kriegel of Lewiston, ID and Gary Kriegel of Mason City, IA, a step daughter, Judy Cizek of Toledo: 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.

Marguerite D. Luedtke
Services: Visitation is on Monday, November 12, 2001 from 3-7pm. The funeral service is on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at 10:30 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Traer. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Burial is at 1:30 pm at the St. Paul Cemetery in Luzerne, IA

Marguerite D. Luedtke was born December 13, 1912 at Luzerne, Iowa, the daughter of William and Emma (Studt) Wehrman. Marguerite received her education in Belle Plaine where she graduated in 1930. On October 12, 1935 she was united in marriage to Milan Luedtke at Luzerne and they lived in Belle Plaine before moving to Garrison in 1936. In 1955 they moved to Traer where she was an active member of the St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church. Following Milan’s death in March of 1992, Marguerite continued to make her home in Traer. More recently she has been a patient at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, where she died on Thursday, November 1, 2001 at the age of 88 years. In free moments she enjoyed walking throughout the community and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by a son and his wife, Bill and Elaine Luedtke of Houston, Texas and a daughter and her husband, Jan and Ken Sauer of Sunnyvale, California, four grandchildren, Derek, Kurt, Jennie, and Tim, and two great grandchildren, Laura and Katie.

Marjorie B. Manfull
Services: Visitation is on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 from 5-7pm. The funeral service in on Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Traer. Burial is at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer followed by a lunch at the church fellowship hall.

Marjorie Belle Manfull was born September 24, 1918 at Sturgis, Kentucky, the daughter of Chester and Nell (Markahm) Kanipe. At a young age she moved with her family to Traer, Iowa where she attended school and graduated from Traer High School. On May 17, 1939 Marjorie was united in marriage to Ivan Manfull at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Traer where in addition to caring for her family she was a long time employee to Dr. Brutsman & Dr. Starck Veterinary Practice. In free moments she enjoyed her garden and fishing with her family. Due to failing health “Boots” became a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer where she continued to live following Ivan’s death on October 12, 1999. This past Saturday evening she was admitted to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo where her death came on Sunday, July 8, 2001 at the age of 82 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister Ann. She is survived by a son, Larry Manfull of Dubuque, IA, two sisters: Louise Dinsdale of Traer, IA and Maxine Scurries of Pleasant Hill, CA, four grandchildren: Mark, Inge, Bryan and Dave, and one great grandchild Max.

Carolyn K. Martin
Services: Visitation is scheduled for Wed., Sept. 12, 2001 at the funeral home from 2-8pm with a Scripture Service at 7pm. The funeral service is on Thurs., Sept. 13, 2001 at 10:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer. Burial is at the St. Paul Cemetery. A lunch will follow at the Traer Memorial Building.

Carolyn Kay Martin was born near Traer, Iowa on April 16, 1935, the daughter of Lloyd and Ethel (Mochal) Crist. She received her education at Traer, graduating in the Class of 1953. Carolyn then continued her education at St. Luke School of Nursing at Cedar Rapids, graduating as a Registered Nurse. Carolyn then worked at Schoitz Memorial Hospital at Waterloo before her marriage to Richard Martin on May 4, 1957. Carolyn and Richard made their home in Traer, where in addition to raising her family, she continued her nursing career. She later worked for St. Francis Hospital at Waterloo, West Brook Acres at Gladbrook, and was the school nurse at North Tama Schools at Traer for 20 years before her retirement in 1998. In free moments Carolyn enjoyed getting together with “the girls”. They played cards and golf and enjoyed line dancing. Her family was the biggest part of her life and spending time with Dick, their children and grandchildren was important. In the past year Carolyn was fighting a battle with cancer and her death came at Covenant Medical Center at Waterloo on Sunday, September 9, 2001 at the age of 66 years. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Richard of Traer, one son Jeff and his wife Chelle of Waterloo, Two daughters and their husbands; Jodie and Keith Ruffcorn of Waterloo, Angie and Dr. John Wright of Bettendorf, one sister Maxine (Mrs. Don) Valenta of Traer as well as six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Maxine F. Martin
Services: Will be held Thursday, March 29, 2001 at 10:00am at the United Methodist Church in Traer by Rev. Marshall Monthei & Rev. Diane Bishop. visitation is on Wednesday, March 28 from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the family.
Maxine Frankie Martin was born June 12, 1912 at Buckingham, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Marionne (Petersen) Dickey. At an early age she moved to Traer and attended school, graduating in the Class of 1930. Maxine continued her education at Cedar Rapids Business College. She then worked for the B. Frank Thomas Law Office in Traer and was also on loan to Judge Tobin in Vinton. On September 2, 1933 Maxine was united in marriage to Donald Martin at Waukon, Iowa and they made their home farming in Crystal Township. In 1976 they retired to Traer before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1987, where Maxine continued to live following Donald’s death on October 12, 1991. In the past month Maxine’s health had failed and her death came on Sunday, March 25, 2001 at the age of 88 years. In free moments Maxine enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, playing bridge with her friends in Traer and was an avid sports enthusiast, especially college sports. Maxine was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of P.E.O. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald and 3 sisters: Mildred, Madge & Dorothy. Maxine is survived by a son, Terry (Dixie) Martin of Cedar Rapids, IA, a daughter, Molly (Mrs. John) Gray of Los Angeles, CA, 5 grandchildren: Brad Martin, Tyler & Beth Martin, Jeff & Elly Gray, Tim & Michelle Gray and Amy Gray, and 5 great grandchildren: Hallie Martin, Signey Martin, Sam Martin, Maxwell Gray and Ginger Gray.

Sylvia Helen Meinhart
Services: 10:30 am on Friday, January 5, 2001 at the Ripley UCC in Traer, with visitation from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Thursday at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer. Burial will be at the Buckingham Cemetery in Traer.

Sylvia Helen Meinhart was born at Hudson, Iowa on May 3, 1918, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Rayman) Yuska. Sylvia attended school in Buckingham and later graduated from Hudson High School in the Class of 1940. On April 18, 1945 Sylvia married Marvin Meinhart and they made their home near Traer all their married life. In addition to caring for her family Sylvia worked outside the home as a clerk at the Traer Coast to Coast Store. She later worked at the Meat Market and several other Traer businesses as a clerk and cook. Following Marvin’s death on May 29, 1966 Sylvia continued to make her home north of Traer and in 1996 retired after working over 30 years in community businesses. In free moments “Grandma Goodie” loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family. She made afghans, quilts, and fancy work, which she shared with her family and fundraisers for her church. Sylvia was also well known for her cooking and baking skills and enjoyed her flowers, plants, and birds. Sylvia’s death came peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 31, 2000 at the age of 82 years. She was a member of the Ripley United Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandchild, Joy Marie, and one brother Wesley. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Mrs.Craig) Spencer of Marshalltown, two granddaughters; Jody Lane-Molnari of Marshalltown and Shawn (Mrs.Patrick) Johnson of Bloomington, MN, two brothers Leonard Yuska of Greenwood, IN, and Alvin Yuska of Manchester, IA. and two great grandchildren; Jillissa Christine, and Hannah Madison.

Wanda R. Myskow
Services: At this time no visitation will be held. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, IL. Overton Family Funeral Home in Traer in charge of arrangements

Wanda R. Myskow was born June 2, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Witold and Helen (Wiszowaty) Zasonski. Wanda received her education at St. Constance Schools in Chicago and on June 26, 1937 she was united in marriage to John Myskow in Chicago. Wanda and John made their home in Chicago all their married life where she worked at various jobs and later retired as a bakery manager. Following John’s death in August of 1984 she continued to make her home in Chicago until 1999 moved to Traer, Iowa to be nearer her family. Wanda’s death came on Thursday, November 15, 2001 at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer at the age of 82 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John, one sister Sabina Migala and one brother Leo Zasonski. She is survived by two daughters, Sister Christine Myskow SSSF of Chicago and Jeannine (Mrs. Michael) Smentek of Traer, three sisters, Jeanette Olszewski, Cecelia Migala and Eugenia Wykowski all of Chicago, five grandchildren, Scott Smentek of Aventura, Florida, Susan Smentek and her husband Keith Baumann of Elmhurst, Illinois, Sharon and Keith Scherrer of Traer, Julie Smentek and her husband James Calcagno of Chicago and Jennifer and Jason Jampoler of Traer, two great grandchildren Emma Scherrer and Lukasz Jampoler.

Beryl E. Nelsen
Services: Services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at 2;00 PM at the United Presbyterian Church in Traer by Rev. Rick Vesely officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Friday at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer. Burial will be at the Buckingham Cemetery in Traer, Iowa.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the family.
Beryl E. Nelsen was born April 4, 1922 at Searcy, Arkansas the daughter of Earl and Vera (Clark) Oliver. Beryl received her education in Searcy and later graduated from Searcy High School. Beryl then worked for the war effort at an ammunition plant in Arkansas until her marriage to Maxwell Nelsen of the US Marine Corps on October 14, 1944 at the home of her parents. Beryl and Max then made their home in Arkansas for a short time before moving to Iowa in 1946 where she worked in Waterloo. They then started farming in Buckingham Township and later near Voorhies, Hudson, and Geneseo and finally south of Traer. In 1973 they owned and operated the True Value Hardware Store in Traer. In later years Beryl has worked at the Silver Streak Lanes and was still working at the time of her death. In free times Beryl enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling and playing cards with her friends. She was well known for her cooking skills and enjoyed working in her garden and with her flowers. Beryl became ill suddenly at her home on Wednesday, March 21, 2001 and was taken to the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo where she died at the age of 78 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her husband Max “Bill” of Traer, two sons: Max (Sandy) Nelsen Jr. of Traer and Mark (Peggy) Nelsen of Runnells, Iowa, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
