HAZLETON -- Carl J. Fuhrman, 76, of Hazleton, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Mercy Living Plus, Oelwein, after a brief illness; services pending with Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, (319) 283-4922.

OELWEIN -- Harry H. Hansen, 89, of Oelwein, died today, Dec. 6, 2000, at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, after a brief illness; services pending with Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, (319) 283-4922.

REINBECK -- Albert Martens, 91, of Reinbeck, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center, of natural causes; services pending with Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, (319) 345-2622.

WAVERLY -- Petronilla "Pat" Ward, 94, of Fort Madison, formerly of Waverly, died today, Dec. 6, 2000, at Fort Madison Health Center of natural causes; services pending with Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, 352-1187.

MANCHESTER -- Margaret L. Light, 87, of Manchester, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, after a brief illness; survivors include two sons, Michael R. of Minneapolis and Gene C. of Denver; a daughter, Doris K. Ross of Manchester; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Francis Reece of Olympia, Wash.; she was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy "Jack," on Oct. 26, 1987; and two brothers, Albert and Alfred Heath; services will be 3 p.m. today at United Methodist Church, Manchester, with burial at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Gowrie Township Cemetery, Gowrie; friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home, Manchester, and for an hour before services at the church; visitation also from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie; Mrs. Light worked for a few years as bookkeeper and scale operator at L.A. Light Construction Co.

IOWA FALLS -- Elmer G. Stockdale, 85, of Iowa Falls, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls, of natural causes; survivors include his wife, Gwen; two sons, Steven of Iowa Falls and Jerry of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Sue Bruning of Castana and Barbara Stockdale of Iowa Falls; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ida Tordoff of Iowa Falls; services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Union Cemetery, both in Iowa Falls; friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.; memorials may be directed to the Elmer and Gwen Stockdale Endowed Scholarship Fund at Ellsworth Community College, the Lee Center Methodist Church or to the family; Mr. Stockdale sold insurance in Iowa Falls and also farmed; he later ran anhydrous ammonia plants in the Bradford, Hampton and Sinclair areas, and in 1958 started in the grain bin business, later known as Stockdale's Inc.

DYSART -- Carl E. Santman, 91, of Dysart, died at home Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, after a sudden illness; survivors include his wife, Pearl; a son, Roger of Dysart; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Underwood of Dysart; he was preceded in death by a daughter, Maxine; a son, Larry; a brother, Elmer; and a sister, Florence; services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Dysart, with burial in Dysart Cemetery; friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Overton Funeral Home, Dysart; Mr. Santman farmed and raised livestock.

MOUNT AUBURN -- Alvin L. Ohrt, 75, of Marshalltown, formerly of Mount Auburn, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, of natural causes; survivors include his wife, Gloria; three sons, Gary of Marinette, Wis., Darrell of Bloomington, Minn., and Tom of Iowa City; a daughter, Diana Posusta of Marshalltown; a stepson, Dr. Dan Wulff of Louisville, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Joy Thorson of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rolland and Merlin, both of Waterloo, and Gerald of Pharr, Texas; and three sisters, Maxine Hydenrich of Deer, Ark., Ada Skolnick of Long Beach, Calif., and Judy Vega of Cypress, Calif.; he was preceded in death by his first wife; and two sisters, Madline Black and one in infancy; memorial services will be 11 a.m. today at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marshalltown, with private family burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo; Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, Marshalltown, is in charge of arrangements; memorials may be directed to the church; a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Ohrt operated a grocery and general store in Dinsdale before becoming Tama County auditor and commissioner of elections, where he served for 20 years; he also owned and operated Ohrt's Food Korner, Toledo, and was city administrator of Strawberry Point; Mr. Ohrt owned Davis County Abstract and retired as an abstracter in Bloomfield; he also served as president of the Iowa State Association of Counties from 1976 to 1977.

SUMNER -- Doris K. Poindexter, 77, of Urbandale, formerly of Sumner, died Nov. 15, 2000 at Antelope Valley Health Care Center, Lancaster, Calif., of heart failure; survivors include a daughter, Vicki White of Columbia, Calif.; a son, James of Lancaster; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a sister, Barbara Demory of West Des Moines; and a brother, Phillip Sawyer of Denver, Colo.; memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Urbandale United Church of Christ, Urbandale, with inurnment in Winterset Cemetery, Winterset; memorials may be directed to Friends of the Prairie Learning Center, Des Moines Retired Teachers' Scholarship Fund, or to Urbandale United Church of Christ; Ms. Poindexter graduated from Iowa State University; she was a vocational educator for over 30 years, including high schools in Corning, Sumner and Mount Pleasant, and was home economics department head for Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1989.

CLARKSVILLE -- Lela Wedeking, 98, of Clarksville, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Community Nursing Home, Clarksville, of natural causes; survivors include 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Stobbe and Arlene Klunder, both of Clarksville; and a brother, Alvin Klunder of Greene; she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, on Dec. 18, 1980; a son, Glenn; a daughter, LaVonne Freerks; two sisters, Meta Kolb, and an infant, Esther Klunder; and five brothers, Ernest, Otto, William, Ewald and Harvey Klunder; services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel United Church of Christ, with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville; friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville; memorials may be directed to the family.

CHARLES CITY -- Phyllis Groshens, 65, of Charles City, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City, of natural causes; survivors include her husband, Dean; three sons, Douglas of Bancroft, Gerald of Plymouth and Thomas of Bemidji, Minn.; seven grandchildren; her mother, Geraldine Osier of Greene; five brothers, Ron and John Osier, both of Greene, Jim of Osier of Azusa, Calif., Dave Osier of El Cajon, Calif., and Dan Osier of Charles City; and five sisters, Donna Gerhard of Marble Rock, Marge Geitzenauer of Broomfield, Colo., Sharon Krominga of Mason City, and Barb Schroeder and Deb Heidenwirth, both of Greene; she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Lyle Osier; services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in Charles City; friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil Scriptural wake service; visitation also for an hour before services Friday at the church.

TOLEDO -- Adolph L. Chizek, 90, of Boone, formerly of Toledo, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Boone County Hospital after an extended illness; survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Jane Christensen of Osceola, Karen Halloum of Ames and Bonnie Grebner of Hampton, Ill.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Millie Kacer of Toledo; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Emil; services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church Worship Center, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, both in Toledo; friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Henderson-Overton Funeral Home, Toledo; a memorial fund is being established; Mr. Chizek was retired from farming.

INDEPENDENCE -- Felice Anne Aldinger, 50, of Independence, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Peoples Memorial Hospital, Independence, of natural causes; survivors include her husband, Jack L.; a son, Chad of Independence; a daughter, Angelique Malkentzos of Tucson, Ariz.; and two brothers, Robert and John Carl Norman; she was preceded in death by her parents, Carl H. and Nina Schackelford Norman; memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls; Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements; memorials may be directed to the family; Mrs. Aldinger was a nurse, having worked at Grandview Nursing Home, Independence, and Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

ELMA -- Gertrude I. Cashman, 87, formerly of Elma, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at the Lutheran Home, Cedar Falls, of natural causes; survivors include two sons, Dean of Urbandale and Don of Harpers Ferry; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis Anderson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Marian Colander of Brandon, Ore.; she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, on March 16, 1975; a sister, Laura Bentrup; and two brothers, Grober and Merril Markham; services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Elma; friends may call from 9 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home; memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Home, Cedar Falls.

HAWKEYE -- Eula I. Heth, 88, of Hawkeye, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Oelwein Healthcare Center, Oelwein, of natural causes; survivors include two sons, Harold of Cedar Rapids and Carl of Rolla, Mo.; a daughter, Helen Westphal of Owatonna, Minn.; and seven grandchildren; she was preceded in death by her husband, Esra; a sister, Elisabeth Gamm; and two brothers, George and Arthur Kraft; services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawkeye, with burial in Hawkeye Cemetery; friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye.

CEDAR FALLS -- Vanita M. Winzenburg, 82, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Sumner, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home of natural causes; services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Frederika, with burial in Union Mound Cemetery, Sumner; visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, (319) 578-3451, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

CEDAR FALLS -- Merle "Mike" Vietor, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at home of heart failure; services 1:30 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, 266-7525, with inurnment in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo; military rites conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49; a memorial fund will be established at a later date.

REINBECK -- Ray Peters, 72, of Reinbeck, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at home of an illness under the care of Grundy County Hospice; services pending with Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, (319) 345-2622.

WEST UNION -- Adrian "Abe" Rademaker, 75, of West Union, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, of natural causes; services pending with Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, (319) 422-3615.

PARKERSBURG -- Marion Grahm, 95, of Parkersburg, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Allison Care Center, Allison, of natural causes; services 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parkersburg United Methodist Church, with burial in Oak Cemetery, Parkersburg; visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, (319) 346-1534; memorials to the family.
