Virginia Berry
Virginia C. Berry, 66, passed away July 15, 2004. No services are planned at this time.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Fred H. Berry; four sons, Jerry Baker, Willie Berry, Ernie Berry and Kurt Berry, all of Des Moines; many grandchildren; brothers, Paul Baker of Wisconsin and Bob Baker of West Des Moines; sister, Kay Garcia of West Des Moines; and brothers, Dave Baker of Des Moines and Don Baker of West Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Rubye Dean
Memorial services for Rubye F. Dean, 95, formerly of Des Moines, will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 26 at Brooks Funeral Care – University Chapel. Private inurnment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Gove of Kimberling City, MO; two grandsons, John Reid of Chicago, IL, and George Reid and wife, Diane of Des Moines; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church, 2500 University Avenue in Des Moines.

Robert Waldron
Robert James Waldron, Jr., 55, died March 22, 2004. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, March 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial at St John’s Cemetery in Cumming, Iowa.
Robert was born in Des Moines and lived most of his life in West Des Moines. He was an engineer for Northwester Bell, Qwest and most recently Titan. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the America Legion, and Post Commander of VFW Post #8879. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Robert liked to cook and do carpentry work. He enjoyed sports and golfing and loved animals, especially his cats.
Robert will be missed by his son, Justin Waldron of Denver, CO; loving companion, Deborah Buse of West Des Moines and her daughter, Lori Buse of Myrtle Beach, SC; father, R.J. Waldron, Sr. of West Des Moines; brother, Michael Waldron of West Des Moines; sisters, Deborah Davis of West Des Moines, Shelley Moyer of Castle Rock, CO, and Mary Waldron and Megan Waldron, both of West Des Moines; aunt, Goldie Havel of West Des Moines; cousin, Dennes Havel of Laurie, MO; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, Esther, and two uncles.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Center, where a Rosary will be held at 7 p.m.

Wally E. Hales
Wally E. Hales, 90, died June 21, 2004 at Kavanagh Hospice House of natural causes. The body has been cremated and services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, July 1 at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church.
She was born in Stettin, Germany and had resided in Des Moines for the past 48 years. Wally worked for the State of Iowa before retiring in 1977.
Mrs. Hales was a member of the Windsor Heights Lutheran Church and loved nature and animals. She was always very compassionate and giving her her family.
She is survived by a son, Lothar (Patricia) Zacharias of Kalamazoo, MI; a granddaughter, Jamie Zacharias of Chesterfield, MO; and two nieces, Irmgard (Helmut) Winnat of Peine, Germany and Anneliese (Herbert) Gatz of Hannover, Germany. Wally was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil J. Hales.
Memorials may be made to the Iowa Lutheran Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, 700 E. University, Des Moines, IA 50316.

Abbie Evans
Abbie L. Evans, 98, died July 25, 2004 at the Kavanagh Hospice House on 56th Street in Des Moines. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 28 at Brooks Funeral Care-University Chapel. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown.
Mrs. Evans was born December 7, 1905, the daughter of Emund and Sadie (Tuttle) Byers in Shannon City, IA. She married James Lafe Evans on April 7, 1923. Mrs. Evans is survived by two children, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children, a brother, sister and one grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kavanagh Hospice House on 56th Street or the Animal Rescue League.

ANGELINE C. ORTALE BARLOW
Angeline C. Ortale Barlow, 82, died in peace surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Nathan Adelson Hospice. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Angeline was born April 30, 1922 to Michael and Christine Ortale. On July 7, 1945 she married Robert Barlow, who preceded her in death. Angeline was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Perez, Julia Reynolds and Rosemary Price; and brothers, Jack Ortale, Joseph Ortale and Louie Ortale. Angeline was a loving wife and mother who worked in the family grocery store, for the Polk County and El Bandito's Restaurant and was Beauty Operator. She was a North High School graduate. Angeline was a very devoted person who was loved by all.
She is survived by daughter, Jackie Barlow Taylor; sons, Robert G (Cecelia) Barlow, James "Jim" J. Barlow and Joseph J. Barlow, all of Pahrump, NV. four grandchildren, Angie Calhoun, Justin Barlow, Meredith and Derk Barlow; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Barlow; and brother, Michael Ortale of Huntington Beach, CA.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a Vigil service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, NV or Hospice of Central Iowa.

Amanda Privett
Amanda L. Privett, age 66, went home to be with Jesus September 15, 2004. A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Monday, September 20 at Kingsway Church, 9000 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Visitation is from 12 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. Burial will follow services at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes, IA.
Amanda was born December 15, 1937 in Golconda, IL. She previously resided in the Quad Cities until moving to Des Moines in October 1988. She was a wonderful mother and friend. Everyone who knew or loved her was truly blessed to have known her. She enjoyed having her children around including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She truly cared about other people. She was by far the most unselfish person we knew.
Amanda had done volunteer work since she was very young. She worked at various jobs for many years to provide for her children. Even after health problems made it hard for her to "work", she still did volunteering for Senior Companions and other programs or situations as needed, like at her apartment complex, where she helped make others' lives more comfortable.
Having a relationship with Jesus was the first priority in her life; going to church, worshiping her Lord Jesus and reading her Bible was what gave her guidance and strength to face all life's situations.
Amanda enjoyed a variety of things. She was an avid reader and was always open to learning new things. She loved to walk, and being around nature such as hiking trails, enjoying beautiful flowers and wildlife; the rose and lilac were her favorite flowers. Blue and lavender were her favorite colors. She felt blessed to have friends to visit with and be a part of her life. She loved to listen to music, especially her worship and gospel songs. Spending time with her family and friends brought her much joy. Some of her favorite Bible verses were, but not limited to, John 3:16 and 17, Psalm 23 and 1 Corinthians 2:9.
Amanda is survived by her children, Theresa Jones and spouse Charles of Grimes, IA, Bill Privett of Grimes, IA, Marjorie Ruby and spouse James of Des Moines, IA, and Douglas Privett and spouse Sue of Des Moines, IA; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mattie Cummins and spouse Bill of Harrisburg, IL, and Sheila Ruge and spouse Richard of South Vienna, OH; brother, Jerry Brown and spouse Debbie of Bettendorf, IA; and a very large extended family including many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth; husband, Charles; two brothers, Doug and Arvel; sister, Johnada; and mother, Ressie Mae.
Amanda was very much loved and will be missed tremendously.

Anita Riccelli
Anita E. Riccelli, 81, died peacefully Tuesday, May 4, 2004 in Spokane, WA. Anita was born in Des Moines in 1923. She was raised and lived in Des Moines' South Side, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1942. Anita was employed first by the Bell Telephone System, and then AT&T, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, Bellizzi MacRae American Legion Auxiliary Post 659 and the Des Moines Women's Club. Anita left Des Moines in 2000 to be near her sons in Spokane.
Her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, Louis G. Riccelli, passed on before her in 1994. Anita is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Louis and Paula and Michael and Gretchen, all of Spokane, WA; sisters, Amelia Garwick and Dorothy Jobe and brother, David Gasperi, all of Des Moines; brother, John Gasperi of Oxnard, CA; grandchildren, Louis, Marcus, Jereme and Alissa Riccelli and Alaina Fitzner; and great-grandchildren, Megan and Riley Fitzner.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 9 at Brooks Funeral Care Tonini Chapel, 2135 SW 9th St., followed by a vigil at 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy and eucharist will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday morning at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Rd., followed by intermenty at Glendale Cemetery, 4909 University Ave. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities, 601 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50309.

Andria Schultz
Andria Rae Davis Schultz, 29, died Thursday, September 2, 2004 from complications of diabetes at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, IA. She was born March 3, 1975 in Jacksonville, AR, and moved to Des Moines at the age of two.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelbie Rae Davis of Prairie City and Kaylee Rae Davis of Des Moines; son, Ryan Michael Schultz of Des Moines; parents, Toni Davis of Des Moines and Michael Davis of Arkansas; one sister, Gina Shepard; one brother, John Gudin; grandparents, Patty Noble of Berwick and Chuck and Ellie Radcliff of West Des Moines; great-grandmother, Sally Robinson of Pleasant Hill; four aunts, four uncles; and numerous cousins.
Andria collected frogs and liked Harley's. She adored her children and had a great sense of humor.
Burial of her cremains will be held at 1 p.m. today at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of her life today after 3 p.m. at Kenny D's. Memorial contributions may be made to her family.

Aldo Vignaroli
Aug. 23, 1915 - May 3, 2004
Private services were held for Aldo G. Vignaroli, who lived in Ankeny prior to his retirement. Aldo will be missed by his sons, Gary (Susan) of Grapevine, TX and Larry of Des Moines; daughter, Sandi (Craig) Jorgensen of West Okoboji; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions are suggested to Mimosa Manor in Keller, TX.

Ailene Brown
Aileen is survived by a daughter, Donna (Ray Stalker) Brown; son, Nicholas (Susan); granddaughter, Realy Ann Wingert; and great-grandson, Charles Wingert. Services will be held at a later date at New York Cemetery in Wayne County.

Wilbur Bill "Boomer" Stanton
Funeral Services for Bill Stanton will be held 2 PM Saturday at Brooks Funeral Care University Chapel. A lifelong resident of West Des Moines he retired from the Rock Island Railroad and was a volunteer driver for West Des Moines Human Services. Bill served his country during WWII in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Gnemeth Masonic Lodge #577, Des Moines York Rite and Za Ga Zig Shrine. Bill will be missed by his five sons, Mike Lewis of Augusta Ks., Dennis Stanton of Minneapolis, Mn., Fred Stanton of Decatur, Alabama, Jeff Stanton and Kevin Stanton of West Des Moines, Ia.,his daughter Christine Ramsey of Georgetown Ky. and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions suggested to the Animal Rescue League

Bill Hinel
William (Bill) Hinel, 87, died May 4, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. Burial will take place at Fairbury Cemetery in Fairbury, NE.
Bill was a WWII veteran and worked as an editor for different newspapers for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and photography.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Pleasant Hill; stepdaughters, Dianne Bomer of Altoona and Jan Gemar of Austin, TX; daughter, Beverly Wagner of Bend, OR; sons, Brian Hinel of Phoenix, AZ, and Bruce Hinel of Wichita, KS; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd in Clive, where a Prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family to be used at their discretion.

Carolyn McKay
Carolyn Lucille McKay recent resident of Briarcliff retirement center passed into resurrection May 17, 2004. She was born November 24, 1919 in Galesburg Il. to Rufus and Marion Cordell. She will be missed by her daughters; Carol Winterburg of Des Moines, Marilyn Crispin of Omaha, Ne., Mern Kraemer of Camdenton Mo, 12 Grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and her beloved and loyal schnauzer, Willie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rev. Adian McKay, her son, Jerry, and 2 sisters; June and Blanche. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials suggested to Highland Park Christian Church building fund in lieu of flowers.

ANGELA CORDARO
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
Angela was a lifetime member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and had a deep commitment to her faith. She was a long time peace activist and a supporter of Catholic Worker House. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Angela was preceded in death by her husband, George. She will be missed by her daughter, Dianne (David) Underwood; sons, Joe (Rosie) Cordaro, Frank Cordaro, Bill (Dianne) Cordaro, Tom (Brigid) Cordaro and Rick (Judy) Cordaro; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, John Sposeto and Dominic Sposeto; and sisters, Rosa Thummel, Mary Sposeto, Isabelle Johnson, Theresa Fraser and Cathy Malsam.
Memorials are suggested to Catholic Worker House or St. Anthony's School.
