Those left to honor Leitha's memory are her husband, John W. "Bill" Jenkins of Newton; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Janice Jenkins, Dan and Deena Jenkins, and Doug and Denise Jenkins, all of Newton; her daughter and son-in-law, Brneda and Bryan Lamb of Newton; 11 grandchildren; her 4 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Gragg of Mitchellville, Iowa; her 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and John Doyel of Newton and Judy and Darrell Montgomery of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Bo Meyer; brother, Lee Roy Gragg; 2 sisters, Mary Margaret Gragg in infancy and Shirley Sager; a niece and a nephew.
Leitha was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and a past member of the Jasper County Women's Bowling Association.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 09, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1115 S. 8th Ave. E., in Newton.
Interment: Immediately following the service Friday, July 09, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
Those left to honor Jack's memory are his wife of 64 years, Katherine; son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Sherry Grimes of Johnston, Iowa; his daughter, Georgene Breckenridge of Alverado, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and his great-great grandchild; 2 sisters, Hazel Hall of Dubuque, Iowa and Wilma Hess of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hillis and Verna (Adkinson) Grimes, 2 sons, Ronnie and Steve Grimes; brother, Richard Grimes and 2 sisters, Zella Stone and Gerrie Wakeland.
Jack was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Jack was a machinest for the Maytag Company in Newton for 26 years, retiring in 1976.
Jack had a great passion for playing golf. He would play 18 holes a day, everyday that he could play.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Rita; 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Stephanie Kanne of Des Moines, Iowa and Alan Kanne of Olathe, Kansas; his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Kiran Annam of Reno, Nevada; 3 step sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Sheree Esqueda of Kellogg, Iowa, Andrew and Becky Esqueda of Baxter and Arleigh and Sara Esqueda of Newton, Iowa; his step daughter and son-in-law, Kursha and Matt Bennett of Baxter; 6 grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Reuben C. and Linda Kanne of Marshalltown, Iowa; and his 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Anna Meta Pejchl of Lakewood, California and Clarice P. and Jerald Thompson of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence R. and Martha O. (Demann) Kanne; second wife, Kelli in 2002; and a grandchild.
Delbert attended Malaka #4 Country School and was a graduate of Baxter High School in 1957.
Delbert attended Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter.
Delbert worked 30 years in the factory for the Maytag Company in Newton.
Memorials to the Baxter Ambulance may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service.

Those left to honor Delbert's memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Dyer and Barbara C. Hammer of Hendersonville, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roger Beaver of Carlisle, Iowa; his 4 grandchildren, Mike Hammer of Newton, Iowa, Christopher T. Morgan of Fort Collins, Colorado, Dara Carlock and her husband, Mark, of Newton, Iowa, and Theresa Dates and her husband, Steve, of Melbourne, Iowa; 5 great-grandhchildren; his 3 graet-great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; his sister, Marjorie Hammer; brother, Howard Hammer; his grandson, Jeffrey Hammer; and a nephew.
Delbert was a farmer his entire life and started the Amboy Trail Ranch in rural Newton, Iowa.
He was a member of the Center Friends Church.

Those left to honor Garry's memory are his wife, Mary of rural Newton, Iowa; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Walker and Sheri Veber of Newton, Kreg William and Renee Veber of Warner Robbins, Georgia, and Mark Garry Veber of Newton; his 7 grandchildren; mother, Dorothy Quinn of Newton; and his 3 brothers, Gayle Veber of Portland, Oregon, Kent Quinn of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kirke Quinn of Boone, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Erville Veber.
Garry graduated from Newton High School in 1953; Iowa State University in 1957; received his Masters from the University of Denver in 1959; and got his Docorate at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.
He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, gardening, and landscaping. He was a member of the 1952 State Championship Football Team, receiving Des Moines Register 1st Team Honors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David S. "Vessie" and Etta I. (Lough) Bales; husband, John in 1974; son-in-law, Mike Modrell; grandson, Michael Modrell; brother, Leonard Bales; 2 sisters, Romero Loar adn Cora Mae Spurgeon; step brother, Richard Lough; and step sister, Lee Etta Kinder.
Aurvilla graduated from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, Iowa in 1929. She received her teaching certificate from Palmer College.
Aurvilla was a member of the Locust Grove Church in Davis County, Iowa and the Locust Grove Ladies Aide.
Aurvilla made quilts with the Locust Grove Ladies Aide for the needy; she enjoyed sewing and crocheting, scrapbooking, making photo albums, collecting buttons and writing to all of her pen pals.

Betty D. Hedges
March 26, 1931 - July 16, 2004

Those left to honor Betty's memory are her 2 nieces and their husbands, Sherrie and Sam Decker of Mapleton, Illinois and Sue and Richard Dittmer of Kellogg, Iowa; and her serveral great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl E. and Doris (Bird) Hedges; 2 brothers, Lawrence "Bud" and Dale "Red" Hedges and her sister, Edith E. Verwers.
Betty had worked at Progress Industries until she retired.

Those left to honor Lila's memory are her 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, Loren Bayles of Newton, Delbert "Ray" Bayles of Newton, Glen and Sandra Bayles of Newton, and Harvey and Bobbi Bayles of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 1 sister, Bertha Chamra of Marshalltown, Iowa; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 nephews.
Lila lived her entire life in the Newton and Grinnell, Iowa areas.

Those left to honor Juana's memory are her 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Manual and Ione Vasquez of Newton, Daniel and Sally Vasquez of Newton, and Gregory and Cherry Vasquez of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter in Mexico; her 22 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister in Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Feliciano Vasquez; son, Antonia Barrientos; a daughter in infancy; and a brother.
Juana enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, doing mending and cooking for her family.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Those left to honor Phyllis' memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Pat Nelson of Mason City, Iowa; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Rowe Winecoff of Lambs Grove, Iowa; Nancee and Roger Etter of Newton; and Mary Ann Nelson of Newton; her 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and her brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Pat Phelps of Montezuma, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil L. and Louise (Grier) Phelps and husband, Carroll W. "Kelly" Nelson in January of 2003.
Phyllis was a graduate of Guernsey High School in Guernsey, Iowa in 1943.
Phyllis when she was able enjoyed sewing and baking. She loved to watch Iowa and Iowa State Basketball on TV. Most of all Phyllis loved being surrounded by her family.

Dale L. Mohler

Those left to honor Dale's memory are his wife of 61 years, Evelyn; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Diane Mohler of Houston, Texas; his 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; his 2 daughters-in-law, Barbara Mohler of Newton, and Rose Mohler Matticks and her husband,Lonnie of Urbandale, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jan Mohler of Knoxville, Iowa; his 3 sisters, Marcella Smith of Prairie City, Iowa, Patty Douglas of Knoxville, and Sandy DeVore of Albia, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Beulah (Ritche) Mohler; 2 sons, Gary in 1996 and Dan in 2003; his 2 brothers, Bob and Junior Mohler and sister Colleen Mohler.
Dale served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II.
Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting and doing home repairs.
Dale was a member of the American Legion Post 111.

Wilburn E. "Brownie" Brown

Those left to honor Wilburn's memory include his wife of 65 years, Marie; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald W. and Julie K. Brown of Newton; his 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie and Tex Horstman and Shirley and Jerry Crady, all of Newton; 10 grandchildren and his 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Harley Brown of Brumley, Missouri; his 2 sisters, Hazel Rush of Versailles, Missouri and Cleo Jeffries of Osage Beach, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everette C. and Luna J. (Phillips) Brown, brother, Lee Brown and his sister, Edna Byrd.
Wilburn served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II.
Wilburn was an over the road truck driver. He drove truck for the Western Transportation Company for 25 years. Wilburn was an award winning truck driver with a million miles accident free.

Those left to honor Doris's memory are her son, Robert McKeever of Pella, Iowa; daughter, Joan McKeever Jarvis of Spokane, Washington; her 5 grandchildren, DeAnna "Dee" McKeever Mixdorf and her husband, Chad, James Jarvis, Jeffrey Jarvis, Michael Jarvis, and Jennifer McKeever; 6 grandchildren; her 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Price of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Bob and Effie Price of Bussey, Iowa, and Norm and Carole Price of Newton, Iowa; 2 sisters, Virginia Janssens of LeClaire, Iowa and Beverly Cullings of Exira, Iowa; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William H. in 1969, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Doris was a homemaker and did babysitting and took care of the elderly in her home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, George and Lowell Rusk.
Claude was a member of the Oak Ridge Grange and had been a part of the Subordinate County and State Grange, past President and past voting member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau.
He was a farmer, retailer and a real estate agent and broker.
