LA PORTE CITY -- Clara "Lucille" Moody, 76, of La Porte City, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of cancer.
She was born April 25, 1924, in Wapello County, daughter of Isaac Lester and Opal Angaletta Husted Helmick. She married William Hamilton Moody April 18, 1942, in Unionville, Mo. He died in December 1992.
Mrs. Moody retired from Sears in 1984.
Survived by: four sons, Larry E. and Ron G., both of La Porte City, Billie R. of Cedar Rapids and Dennis of Mount Auburn; two daughters, Caroline J. Bagenstos of Waterloo and Kay Hook of La Porte City; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Helmick of What Cheer; and two sisters, Neva Matthews of Knoxville and Esther Dannells of Newton.
Preceded in death by: two daughters, Joyce Elaine Shelton and Nancy Louise Moody; two grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Helmick and Melvin Helmick; and three sisters, Bonnie Jean Helmick in infancy, Dorothy Layton and Flossie Smith.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Huisman Funeral Home, La Porte City.
Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

CEDAR FALLS -- Kenneth R. "Dick" Wymore, 76, of 3826 Evergreen Lane, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center from complications of Parkinson's disease.
He was born Jan. 8, 1924, in Ottumwa, son of Kenneth R. and Ellen C. Welch Wymore. He married Elma Weltz April 4, 1948, at Grace United Methodist Church, Waterloo.
Mr. Wymore served in the 29th Division Headquarters Military Police during World War II. He was a veteran of the Middle Eastern, African and European military campaigns, and was present during the D-Day invasion at Normandy, France. He was an assistant manager at S.S. Kresge Department Store in Waterloo and Streator, Ill., and was also a route salesman for Jewel Tea Co. Mr. Wymore owned the Mobile service station at the corner of Rownd Street and Highway 218 in Cedar Falls and was a driver for H & W Motor Express for 27 years, retiring in 1985.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Kenneth R. II of Waterloo and Scott J. of Stout; a daughter, Alice E. Neith of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren; and five brothers, Keith, Roger and Robert, all of Cedar Rapids, Ronald of Ottumwa and Larry of Clearwater, Fla.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Poyner Township Cemetery, near Gilbertville. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to National Parkinson's Foundation, Development Department, 1501 NW Ninth Ave., Miami, FL 33136.

WATERLOO -- Helen L. Telford, 80, of 2016 W. Sixth St., died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at her home of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 31, 1919, in Aberdeen, Scotland, daughter of Robert and Matilda Lonie Laing. She married Wayne M. Telford April 29, 1944, in Lancaster, England. He died in 1955.
Mrs. Telford was employed with Eagle grocery store for 26 years, retiring in 1983.
Survived by: two sons, Gordon of Elm Grove, Wis., and Bruce of Carrollton, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: three brothers; and three sisters.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to National Alliance for Autism Research.

CEDAR FALLS -- Joan Frances Gutknecht, 69, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at her home of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 4, 1930, near Fairbank, daughter of Lawrence and Letha Damon Kerns. She married Gilbert Gutknecht May 19, 1950, in Cedar Falls.
Survived by: her husband; three sons, Gilbert Jr. of Rochester, Minn., Brad of Urbandale and Todd of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; a brother, Richard Kerns of Waterloo; and six sisters, Patricia Perry of Evansdale, Dorothy Wilson of Waterloo, Karen Perkins of Denison, Texas, Yvonne Brown of Hazleton, Susan Linsteadt of Pottsboro, Texas, and Joyce Bowden of Raymond.
Preceded in death by: two brothers, Jerry Kerns and Eugene Kerns; and a sister, Colleen Hamilton.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.

WATERLOO -- Daniel M. "Poncho" Kalvig, 49, of Norwalk, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Cost Plaza Hospital, Norwalk, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 13, 1951, in Waterloo, son of Milford and Elizabeth "Betty" Marshall Kalvig.
Mr. Kalvig had been employed as a manager of a bar and was also a carpenter.
Survived by: his mother of Waterloo; two brothers, Patrick and Michael, both of Waterloo; and three sisters, Reginia Morrow and Rebecca Ellingson, both of Deltona, Fla., and Mary Ann Heidemann of Evansdale.
Preceded in death by: his father.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Parrott & Wood Family Funeral Care, with cremation to follow. Friends may call for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials: may be directed to the family.

WATERLOO -- Phyllistine Waters McGregory, 44, of 1603 Mount Carmel Drive, died in Chicago as the result of a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
She was born Jan. 15, 1956, in Chicago, daughter of Louise and Lee Arthur Waters. She married Anthony McGregory in September 1978, in Waterloo.
Mrs. McGregory was employed as a counselor at Greer Residential Facility, Chicago.
Survived by: her mother of Waterloo; her father of Forest, Miss.; a son, Carl E. Waters of Waterloo; a granddaughter; two brothers, Sammy L. McKinley of Durant, Miss., and Larry Waters of Waterloo; a stepbrother, DeAngelo Waters of Des Moines; and two stepsisters, Kelly Franklin of Forest and Diana Waters of Des Moines.
Preceded in death by: her husband; her grandparents; and a brother, Paul.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Antioch Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sanders Funeral Service.
Memorials: may be directed to the family at 1603 Mount Carmel Drive, where they will be receiving friends.

LA PORTE CITY -- Angelena "Lena" Steege, 97, of La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of 509 Walnut St., died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of natural causes.
She was born Oct. 30, 1903, in rural Ackley, daughter of Cornelius U. and Etta Neymeyer Harken. She married Arend Kannegieter Jan. 24, 1923, in rural Aplington, and they later divorced. She then married Herman Steege July 24, 1923, in Troy, Kan. He died Jan. 31, 1974.
Mrs. Steege worked at restaurants in the Parkersburg area.
Survived by: a son, Marvin Kannegieter of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Pearl Mitchell of Evansdale and Angeline Palmer of Rowley; a granddaughter whom she raised, Pamela Schmitz of La Porte City; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bernice Freesman of Aplington and Martha Pruisner of Parkersburg.
Preceded in death by: a son, Cornelius "Bud" Kannegieter; an infant daughter, Marietta Kannegieter; three brothers; and three sisters.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Huisman Funeral Home, La Porte City.
Memorials: may be directed to the church.

CEDAR FALLS -- Margery I. Kimble, 72, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Ravenwood Health Care Center, Waterloo, of natural causes.
She was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Bouton, daughter of Pearl J. and Lou O. Sears Ridgway. She married Byron F. Kimble Nov. 3, 1947, in Creighton, Neb. They were later divorced.
Prior to her retirement in 1967, Mrs. Kimble had been a department manager at J C Penney Co., Fort Madison.
Survived by: a son, Ty of Cedar Falls; twin daughters, Shawna Higginbotham of Grand Junction, Colo., and Sheena Samuelson of Aurora, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and four brothers, William and Harry Ridgway, both of Yuma, Ariz., George Ridgway of Davenport and Paul Ridgway of Clinton.
Preceded in death by: two brothers, Samuel Ridgway and one in infancy.
Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield, with inurnment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. The family will receive friends following services in Fairfield.
Memorials: may be directed to the family.
Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
