WELLSBURG -- Elwin "Booster" Harms, 90, of Wellsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit, Grundy Center, of natural causes; services pending with Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, (641) 869-3336.

CLERMONT -- Elizabeth M. Priest, 90, formerly of Clermont, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center, Postville, after a brief illness; she is survived by a sister, Susanna Larson of Postville; services were 11 a.m. today at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Clermont, with burial in the church cemetery; Schutte's Clermont Funeral Chapel, Clermont, was in charge of arrangements.

CONRAD -- Thelma M. Johnston, 90, of Conrad, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Oakview Nursing Home, Conrad, of natural causes; survivors include a son, Jerry L. of Conrad; a daughter, Jana Smith of Liscomb; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Johnston; and a sister; services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Conrad United Methodist Church, with burial in Conrad Cemetery; friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Johnston Funeral Home, Conrad; a memorial fund will be established; Mrs. Johnston assisted her husband and son in the Johnston Funeral Home and Furniture Store of Conrad from 1947 to 1990.

STRAWBERRY POINT -- Lottie Anna Esther Schmidt, 92, of Strawberry Point, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home after a lengthy illness; survivors include her husband, Carl; a daughter, Lorraine Ideus of Topeka, Kan.; a son, Andrew of Marion; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert Andreae of Volga; she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Zwanziger; an infant son, James; and an infant grandson; services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Sebald Lutheran Church, Strawberry Point; friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Roberson Funeral Home, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Schmidt attended Wartburg Normal College, Waverly, and was a cook for the school lunch program and EWALU.

WATERLOO -- Gordon Earl Sanderson, 64, of Lowell, Ark., formerly of Waterloo, died at home May 23, 2000 of cancer ; memorial services 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Church, Tripoli. Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home, Springdale, Ark., was in charge of arrangements.

WATERLOO -- Russell Richard Krug, 46, of Brownsville, Texas, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at East Texas Medical Center, Tyler, Texas, from injuries received in a construction accident; private services will take place; Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home, Tyler, is in charge of arrangements.

WATERLOO -- Carl J. Dinnebier, 78, of Waterloo, died today, June 2, 2000, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of leukemia; services pending with Chapel of Memories-West Family Funeral Service, 233-8437.

WATERLOO -- Eugene John Kuebler, 90, of 155 North Folk Road, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes; services 11 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery; visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, 233-3393, with a 7 p.m. vigil service; memorials to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.

WATERLOO -- Kay Huppert Harrah, 93, of 827 Kunz Drive, died today, June 2, 2000, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center of natural causes; services pending with Garden View Chapel, 232-2222.

CHARLES CITY -- Lorraine S. Meyer, 86, of Charles City, died today, June 2, 2000, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, from complications of a stroke; services pending with Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, Charles City, (515) 228-4211.

GREENE -- Henry Steere, 83, of Greene, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City, of natural causes; services 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, both in Greene; visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, (515) 823-4457, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service; visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

NEW HAMPTON -- Richard O'Brien, 78, of New Hampton, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes; services 3 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in New Hampton; graveside military rites by Fae-Stine American Legion Post No. 38 of New Hampton; Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton, (515) 394-4334, is in charge of arrangements.

Galleger, 91, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, died today, May 4, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center from complications of Alzheimer's disease; services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery; visitation 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, 234-6274, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service; visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

HAMPTON -- Harold Moffit, 84, of Hampton, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton, of natural causes; he was preceded in death by a brother; services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton, with burial in Fontanelle Cemetery, Fontanelle; friends may call from 11 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home; Mr. Moffit was a farmer, worked at Ferris Nursery in Hampton and also had worked as an emergency medical technician at Franklin General Hospital.

DUMONT -- John F. Arends, 78, of Dumont, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton, of natural causes; he is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Nolte of Dumont; he was preceded in death by a brother, Siebert; services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Dumont Reformed Church, with burial in Dumont Cemetery; friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Dumont; Mr. Arends worked for 30 years at the Oliver Plant, Charles City.

NEW HAMPTON -- Elgin Pearce, 83, of New Hampton, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton, of natural causes; survivors include two sons, Rodney of New Hampton and Sid of Des Moines; two granddaughters; two sisters, Juanita Evans of Sunland, Calif., and Rose Randall of Albert Lea, Minn.; and a brother, Oliver Amelsberg of LaCrescenta, Calif.; she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, on July 17, 1997; and 12 brothers and sisters; services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton, with burial in New Hampton Cemetery; friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church; Mrs. Pearce worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., for a short time; she later worked as a cook at the New Hampton Public School, then managed and operated Elgin's Dairy Creme from 1967 until retiring in 1974.

FAIRBANK -- Daniel Curtis Peine, 49, of rural Fairbank, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at his home of cancer; survivors include is wife, Karen; a son, Aaron Daniel of Fairbank; a daughter, Lori Marie Peine of Fairbank; his father, Wallace of Piqua, Kan.; three brothers, Ronald of Fairbank, Richard of Readlyn and Alan of Odedolt; and two sisters, Andrea Gerstenberger of Holt, Mo., and Debra Heineman of Fairbank; he was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Peine; and grandparents, Curtis and Genevieve Peine and Arthur Callies; services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, both in Fairbank; friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, where there will be a 3:30 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service; memorials may be directed to the family; a 1969 graduate of Wapsie Valley High School, Mr. Peine had been employed at Terex, Waverly; he served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973.

Knudsen, 70, of Parkview Garden and Rehab Center, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Allen Hospital of natural causes; services are planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, 233-3146, with burial in the Dike Cemetery, Dike; visitation from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home; memorials to the family.
