Beatrice Abdouch
Beatrice Abdouch, 90, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, April 4, 1997, at the Risen Son Christian Village Nursing Home in Council Bluffs.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church in Omaha, Neb. Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Graceland Park Cemetery at Sioux City. Trisagion services will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the John A. Gentleman Westside Chapel in Omaha.

Survivors include three daughters, Geraldine and her husband John Queen of South Sioux City, Connie and her husband Jerry Hansen of Omaha, and Rita of Denver, Colo.; a son and his wife, Don and Dianne of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham, and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be given in her name to the charity of your choice.

Arnold Gensichen
Arnold W. "Skee" Gensichen, 79, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday, April 3, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating. The body was cremated and visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday.

Mr. Gensichen was born Jan. 16, 1918, at Wayne, Neb., to Frederick and Elsie (Jacobs) Gensichen. He came to Sioux City as a young boy and attended Sioux City schools, graduating from Central High in 1935. He married May L. McLaughlin August 30, 1940, at Sioux City. He was a sales representative for Westinghouse Electric Supply for 40 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Tom and Susan of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Lavelle Kennett of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and Tootie and her husband Lloyd "Boots" Donovan of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Rose, and Ann.

A memorial has been established in his name.

Madonna H. Hove
Madonna H. Hove, 65, of Sioux City died Friday, April 4, 1997, at a local nursing home following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. (Howell) Hove was born Jan. 5, 1932, at Sioux City. She married Harlan Hove June 15, 1973, at Luverne, Minn. She worked as a sales clerk at JC Penney's and later at Younkers in Sioux City, retiring in 1996.

She was a member of South Ridge Women's Golf Club, and a past member of A.B.W.A.

Survivors include her husband of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Robert and Lynne of South Sioux City; two grandchildren; and two brothers, William Koloski of Starbuck, Minn., and Lester Howell of Indiana, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Pallbearers include Randy Fleck, Clint Ugech, Rick Good, Greg Liston, Dennis Hitzemann, and Ralph Garberson.

Raymond Mitchell Jr.
Raymond V. Mitchell Jr., 65, of Dakota Dunes died unexpectedly Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Tarpon Springs, Fla.

There will be a private family funeral Mass. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mitchell was born May 20, 1931, at Sioux City to Raymond V. and Dorothy (Lessenich) Mitchell Sr. He graduated from Heelan High School and the University of Colorado, where he received his degree in mechanical engineering. He married Margaret "Margo" Huebner in 1959 at Akron, Iowa. In 1958, he became president of Hart Beverage Co., a position he held until retiring in the mid 1980's, and was currently an active partner of Linpepco of Lincoln, Neb. He was a board member of Briar Cliff College from 1985 to 1993, serving as vice chairman from 1991 to 1993. He received the Briar Cliff College Presidential Distinguished Leadership Award in 1995. He was also a member of the Marian Health Center Board of Directors from 1987 to 1992, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served in the Air National Guard from 1951 to 1957.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Raymond V. of Livermore, Calif., and Gary R. of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Susan Jean of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Margo Huitt of Sioux City; and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Briar Cliff College Scholarship Fund.

James E. Sherrill
James E. Sherrill, 82, of Sioux City died Friday, April 4, 1997, at a local hospital following a stroke.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Donohue Sarff of Morningside Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mr. Sherrill was born Sept. 29, 1914, at Washta, Iowa, to Frank and Freida (Carlson) Sherrill. He moved with his family to several towns, working on area farms, until moving to Sioux City when he was 16. He married Nellie M. Ely Oct. 29, 1964, at Dakota City. He worked as a foreman at Wincharger for a few years, then worked at North American Manufacturing for 12 years, retiring in 1980.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, John and Laurie of Bothell, Wash.; two stepsons and their wives, Earl and Margaret Gould of San Diego, Calif., Edward and Mary Gould of Springfield, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers and their wives, Orville and Dolly of Sioux City, and Albert and Freida of South Sioux City.

Walter J. Houlihan, 70, Sioux City, died Saturday; Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Helen Biery
IDA GROVE, Iowa - Helen Biery, 84, of Ida Grove died Saturday at the Morningside Care Center at Ida Grove.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services at the church.

H.E. Bourrette
ELLIOTT, Iowa - H.E. "Ernie" Bourrette, 69, of rural Elliott died Thursday at his residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Griswold, Iowa. Burial will be in the St. Mary's section of Pleasant Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday and Monday, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and the family present from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., both Monday at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold.

Alice L. Culver
SIBLEY, Iowa - Alice L. Culver, 94, of Sibley died Friday at the Sibley Care Center in Sibley.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Sibley. Burial will follow in the West Holman Township Cemetery at Sibley. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home in Sibley.

Paul Malloy
SALIX, Iowa - Bernard Paul Malloy, 80, a lifetime resident of Salix died Friday, April 4, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Mon day at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Salix. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at the church. Wood Funeral Home of Sloan is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Malloy was born August 8, 1916, at Salix to John and Catherine (Dunn) Malloy. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Salix. He married Ella Chesley May 18, 1942, at Sioux City. He was a farmer and owned Malloy Trucking from 1951 to 1986. He was an outdoorsman and loved family and horses.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Salix.

Survivors include his wife of Salix; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Jim Heien of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Mike and Barbara of Salix; four grandchildren, Shelly Heien and Kelly Martin, both of Sioux City, Brenda and Brady, both of Salix; a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom; two sisters, Elizabeth Burkhart and AnnaMarie Simpson; and a great-grandson.

Mrs. John Mount
CHOKIO, Minn. - Louella Marie Mount, 81, of Chokio died Thursday, March, 27, 1997, at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, Minn.

A memorial service was held at the Pederson Funeral Home in Morris on Monday, March 31, 1997. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery at Westfield, Iowa, in June.

Mrs. Mount was born July 10, 1915, at Westfield to John and Louise (Onnen) Amundson. She grew up and received her schooling in Westfield. She worked for various families in th Westfield area. She married John Mount Oct. 12, 1940, at Dakota City. The couple made their home in the Lyons, Neb., area where they farmed for 10 years before moving to the Chokio/Alberta, Minn., area in 1951. They farmed there until retiring in 1978. They moved from the farm to their current home in Chokio in September of 1994.

Survivors include her husband of Chokio; a daughter, Shirlee of Sioux City; a son and his wife, John M. and Barbara of Paxton, Ill.; three grandchildren, Lisa Buhs, Mike Mount, and Kim Hauersperger; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Manuel of Sioux City, and Margaret and Ralph Mesick of San Francisco, Calif.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Oscar, Clarence, Edward, and Ralph Amundson.

Lavon Toenjes
IRETON, Iowa - Lavon Toenjes, 84, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Ireton, died Friday, April 4, 1997, at the Sioux Valley Foundation Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton, with the Rev. Perry Schefelker officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Visitation will begin at 12 noon Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Port-Dow Funeral Home in Ireton.

Mrs. Toenjes was born August 20, 1912, near Ireton to Clyde and Ida (Jones) Wills. She graduated from the Ireton High School in 1930, and received her teachers certificate. She taught in rural schools in Washington Township. She married Harold Toenjes August 28, 1936, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Ireton. The couple farmed southeast of Ireton, retiring into town in September of 1979. He died Oct. 28, 1984. She moved to the Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa, in 1992, and to the Foundation Hospice Cottage in December of 1996.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, and the Ireton Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Royce and Peggy of St. Joseph, Minn.; a daughter, Donna Van Ness of Wilmont, Minn.; a brother, Morris Wills of Salisbury, Mo.; and brother-in-law, Wendell of Le Mars, Iowa; two sisters, Bernice France, and Beulah and her husband Robert Ping, all of Ireton; a sister-in-law, Elvira Kading of Ireton; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Hollis.

Lois Willbrandt
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Lois Willbrandt, 79, of Cherokee died Friday at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. The body was cremated and there will be no visitation. Family and friends will gather at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee before proceeding to the cemetery.
