Kingston E. Boni

Kingston Eugene Boni, 72, Boulder City, Nev., a native of Sioux City, died Oct. 25, 1997, at a Boulder City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services and burial, with full military honors, were in Boulder City.

Mr. Boni was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Sioux City, the son of William Kingston and Julia Anne (Riley) Boni. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School in 1942.

He married Marie Bendon in August 1945 in California.

Mr. Boni served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years from 1942 until 1954. He then served as a chief engineer for a New York firm and later was employed by Edison in California. During much of his career, he traveled throughout the United States, teaching engineering. He retired in 1975 for health reasons.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Andreson of Denver, Colo.; two sons, Michael Boni of Los Angeles and William Boni of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Joyce Beauchene of Jefferson, S.D., and Patricia Sandberg of Sioux City; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Avis M. Allaway.

Roberta L. Johnson
Roberta L. Johnson, 62, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Sioux City, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, in Lincoln following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Dr. Allen Call, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Sioux City, the daughter of Willard and Marguerite (Riffle) Smith. She was raised in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools.

She married Ronald D. Johnson on Nov. 28, 1953, in Sioux City. He died April 1, 1991, in Scottsbluff.

She was employed with the Scottsbluff National Bank for many years.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, David and Nancy of Lincoln and Timothy and Julie of San Jose, Calif.; a brother, Willard "Skip" Smith of South Sioux City; five sisters, Wilma Sims of St. Louis Park, Minn., Cheryl Smith of Las Vegas and Donna Bursick, Marybelle McClain and Carolyn Sgroi, all of Omaha, Neb.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Virgil E. Metcalf
Virgil Evans Metcalf, 80, formerly of Sioux City died Tuesday in Ponca, Neb.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux City. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Geneva M. Speckhart, 82, of Sioux City died Monday; Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Hannah Rose Thomas, 1, of Sioux City died Monday; Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Dorothy M. Broderson
JEFFERSON, S.D. - Dorothy M. Broderson, 69, of Jefferson died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point, S.D.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson, with the Rev. Andrew Swietochowski and the Rev. John Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Berkemier Funeral Home in Sioux City. Visitation will resume at 3 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of America and a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.

Mrs. Broderson was born March 11, 1928, in Elk Point, the daughter of Ned and Glennie (Noggle) Carroll. She was raised in Elk Point and attended Elk Point schools.

She married Walter Broderson on Jan. 19, 1947, in Elk Point. The couple made their home in Elk Point until 1969, when they moved to Jefferson. He died May 13, 1995.

She graduated from Nettleton Business School in 1954. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Roberts Dairy for 35 years.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the St. Peter's Parish Council, the Catholic Daughters of America St. Agnes Court, the Cleverette Extension Club and the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.

She enjoyed growing roses.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Marie and Dan Fullenkamp of Elk Point; a sister and her husband, Mildred and William Callahan of Elk Point; three grandchildren, Beth Villa, Amy Taylor and David Fullenkamp; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Russell and Dale Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Steve, Chris and David Hunt, Craig Carroll, Matt Broderson and Bill Holec.

Sharon Danielson
HAWARDEN, Iowa - Sharon Ray "Suzie" Danielson, 54, of Hawarden died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Hawarden.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at American Lutheran Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Timothy Solberg officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Danielson was born July 18, 1943, in Akron, Iowa, the son of Dennis and Magda (Berg) Danielson. He attended Ring School in Union County in South Dakota.

He married Judith "Judy" De Vries on Aug. 29, 1970, in Akron. The couple made their home in Hawarden.

He was employed at Beef America in Le Mars, Iowa, and for the past seven years at L.G. Everist Sand and Gravel Company in Hawarden.

He was a member of the Hawarden Eagles Club.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Don and Cindy of Le Mars; a daughter and her husband, Kristina and Danny Rensink of Hawarden; three brothers and their wives, Elwin and Betty of Minneapolis, Minn., Robert and Bernadine of Hawarden and Danny and Lois of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Arlene and Kenneth Koops of Bellflower, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Danielson and Taylor Rensink; and a step granddaughter, Kendra Rensink.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ardell.

Peggy Determann
IDA GROVE, Iowa - Marguerite "Peggy" Determann, 60, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Ida Grove, died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at her sister's residence in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove, with the Rev. Gerald M. Fisch officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home of Ida Grove is in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Determann was born Jan. 7, 1937, in Ida Grove, the daughter of Joe and Esther (Bond) Determann. She graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1955 and St. Joseph School of Nursing in Omaha.

She was a registered nurse in Colorado and Nebraska for 40 years.

Survivors include her mother of Ida Grove; a sister and her husband, Janice and Joe Lux of Cherokee; two brothers, Donald and his wife, Jeanie, of Greeley, Colo., and Robert of Garden City, Kan.; 10 nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters, Betty and Mary Jo Determann.

Lawrence Klein
LE MARS, Iowa - Lawrence H. Klein, 73, of Le Mars died Monday at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa. Burial will be Tuesday in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Anthon, Okla. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday, with a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m., at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Pearl Miller
EARLY, Iowa - Pearl Miller, 89, of Early died Monday at Odebolt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Odebolt, Iowa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Early. Burial will be in Early Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, Iowa.

Ann Mortenson
WAKEFIELD, Neb. - Ann Mortenson, 81, of Wakefield died Tuesday at her residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield. Burial will be in Wakefield City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Bressler-Humlicek Funeral Home in Wakefield.

Marjorie Steckelberg
DUNLAP, Iowa - Marjorie Steckelberg, 87, of Dunlap died Monday at Dunlap Care Center.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Nishnabotna Cemetery at Manilla, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Huebner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ivan A. Tufty
NUNDA, S.D. - Ivan A. Tufty, 88, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Nunda, Sioux Falls, Yankton and Brookings, S.D., and Sioux City, died Sunday at his residence in Houston.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda. Burial will be in Prairie Queen Cemetery. Ellsworth Funeral Home of Madison, S.D., is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert C. Wiegert
CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa - Robert Charles Wiegert, 76, of Correctionville died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Consorcia A. Sanchez officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley (Iowa) City Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Mumford/Moon Post 79 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Sioux Valley Post 1750 of Correctionville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Mr. Wiegert was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Leigh, Neb., the son of Charles and Margaret (Wilkens) Wiegert. He graduated from East High School in 1939, and moved to California.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to Pierson, Iowa, where he ran a grocery store with his parents.

He married Lorraine Martin on May 26, 1947, in Elk Point, S.D. The couple moved to Correctionville, where he was a mechanic for several years. He retired in January 1997.

He enjoyed flower gardens.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Dale of Bakersfield, Calif.; a half brother, Howard Paulson of Orange County, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Jean Wiegert of Spencer, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dean.

Irene B. Wurdinger
RANDOLPH, Neb. - Irene B. Wurdinger, 82, of Randolph died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at Osmond General Hospital in Osmond, Neb.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Frances Catholic Church in Randolph, with the Rev. Marcia Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery at Norfolk, Neb. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home in Randolph. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Wurdinger was born Sept. 20, 1915, in rural Randolph, the daughter of Ludwig and Minnie (Kruger) Bauer. She attended District 22 school.

She married Gaillard Martindale on Feb. 27, 1938 in Hoskins, Neb. He died April 14, 1971. She married Marlin J. Wurdinger on May 31, 1977, in Laurel, Neb.

She was employed as a cook with the Cornhusker Cafe in Randolph and then the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in 1972. She later became the dietician at Colonial Manor, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph, where she was active in the Mary Circle. She was a past member of the Nebraska Dietetic Association.

Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Bill and Barbara of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Sharolyn and Don Cunningham of Laurel; a sister and her husband, Lois and Arlen Robinson of Waterloo, Iowa; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Marlin Bauer.

Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or the Colonial Manor.

Pallbearers will be Ryan and Shawn Martindale and Kirt, Todd, Scott and Ryan Cunningham.
