Lewis Nels Mossefin
Lewis Nels Mossefin, 76, of Sioux City died Thursday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene, S.D. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Irene. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene.

Frank H. Reinhold
Frank H. Reinhold, 81, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, at Portland Adventist Medical Center in Portland, Ore., following an illness of lung disease.

Private family services were held Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Gable Funeral Chapel in Portland. His body was cremated.

Mr. Reinhold was born Dec. 13, 1915, in Sioux City.

He married Corletta Raab on Aug. 28, 1938. She died on April 23, 1995.

He moved to Oregon from Texas in 1965 and was employed at Sandy Boulevard Dodge as parts manager until his retirement in 1978.

He was a member of Oregon Model Airplane Club, American Modelers Association, Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Chrysler Parts Managers Club. He was also a member of the National Guard for six years in Iowa.

Survivors include two sons, Wally of Portland, Ore., and Marty of Leavenworth, Kan.; two daughters, Sandi Coker of Portland, Ore., and Nita Coles of Henderson, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Amercian Lung Association.

Wendell K. Holman
Wendell K. Holman, 65, of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Lombard, Ill.,died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, in Amarillo after a two year battle with cancer.

Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church with the Msgr. Joseph Tash officiating. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be at Brust funeral Home in Lombard, Ill. Arrangements are by the Schooler Funeral Home, Inc.

Mr. Holman was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Princeton, Ill. He graduated from Gardner, Ill. High School.

He attended Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Ill.

He was a finance executive in the meat and commodity industry for over 30 years. He was a past member of Iowa Beef Processors, Inc. Board of Directors where he was group vice-president of finance. He was senior vice-president with Refco Inc. of Chicago until relocating to Texas as a consultant with Cactus Feeders Inc., a company which he helped form years earlier.

He spoke before the United States Senate on more than one occasion regarding the regulations on the meat industry.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Since his retirement in 1991, he had been active with the Alamo Catholic Schools and on the start-up committee for Ascension Catholic Academy. He was honored by Alamo Catholic by establishing the Wendell Holman Spirit Award given to a senior athlete.

In Illinois, he served on the St. Pius X parish council and was president of the School Board and Booster Club. He served on many committees at Montini Catholic High School including chairing the finance committee for the new gymnasium.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; four sons, Keith and his wife, Carol of Carol Stream, Ill., Kirk and his wife, Brenda of Bloomington, Ill., Kevin and his finance, Suzanne of Farmington, N.M., and Kris and his wife, Kari of Amarillo, Texas; three grandchildren, Caitlyn, Patrick and Austin; his mother, Edna of Kankakee, Ill.; a sister and her husband, Phyllis and Harold VanderMeer of Bourbanais, Ill.; three brothers and their wives, Bob and Diane of Melbourne, Fla., Jerry and Frieda of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Dave and Fran of Wilton, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

Memorials may be directed to Ascension Academy Building Fund, Amarillo or Alamo Catholic Scholorship Fund, or Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center.

Clarence R. Harbeck
Clarence R. "Tuts" Harbeck, 63, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday in Omaha.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen N. Haitz
Helen N. Haitz, 95, of Sioux City died Thursday at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home. A private burial of the cremains, attended by the family, will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday.

Lloyd D. West, Sr.
Lloyd D. West, Sr., 67, of Conroe, Texas died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, in Conroe.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Conroe. Visitation will be on Sunday at Green Lawn Memorial Funeral Home in The Woodlands, Texas.

Mr. West was born July 17, 1930, in Egan, S.D.

Survivors include his wife, Delicia; five sons, Donald Michael, Lanny, Lloyd D. Jr., Gary, and Scott; three daughters, Lynnette West, Kimberly Hurley and Jan Pickard; two brothers, Victor and Thomas; two sisters, Beverly Archer and Marjorie Blumenauer; 24 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery.

Fergus Spaulding
Fergus N. "Peggy" Spaulding, 88, of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997, in Sun City West, Ariz., following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A private burial of the cremated remains will be in Logan Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Vincent E. Benson, 97, of Sioux City died Friday; Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Lawrence Saxen
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Lawrence Saxen, 69, of Cherokee died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Burial will be in Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lawrence Den Hartog
SHELDON, Iowa - Lawrence A. Den Hartog, 83, of Sheldon died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Sheldon with the Dr. Bruce Ursin officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Mr. Den Hartog was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Boyden, Iowa, the son of Jake and Merle (Horn) Den Hartog.

He married Johanna Langstraat on Nov. 28, 1935, in Newkirk, Iowa.

He enjoyed flying and received his private pilots license in 1936. In the beginning of World War II he received his flight instructors rating at Iowa City, Iowa, and was sent to Waterloo, Iowa to teach students under the C.P.T. Program.

The couple farmed and managed airports in Clarion, Eagle Grove and Webster City, Iowa. He also was an ambulance pilot and a licensed examiner for pilots for 17 years. They moved to Sheldon in 1972.

He was member of Sheldon United Methodist Church and had served as a trustee and on the Building Committee.

Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Elmer and Donald, both of Sheldon; two sisters, Ethel Kuyper of Sheldon and Lois Van Meeteren of Boyden, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Howard.

Marguerite Doorenbos
BOYDEN, Iowa - Marguerite Doorenbos, 85, of Boyden died Thursday at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at United Presbyterian Church in Boyden. Burial will be in Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

Adeline M. Hladky
ELK POINT, S.D. - Adeline M. Hladky, 86, of Elk Point died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point, with the Rev. John Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon today and Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point. Visitation will resume at 3 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.

Mrs. Hladky was born April 24, 1911, in Bruce, S.D., the daughter of Albert A. and Mary (Fassbinder) Bohl. She graduated from high school in Brookings, S.D. and from South Dakota State University with a bachelor of science degree in 1934. She taught high school business and commerical classes at Tyndal, S.D.

She married Val Hladky on Dec. 31, 1941, in Chicago, Ill. The couple moved to Elk Point in 1946. He died in 1993, in Elk Point.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph Altar Society, the University Club, the Women's Wednesday Club and the O.O.B. Club. She was a member of the steering committee for the Elk Point Centennial celebration in 1959.

Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Hladky of Peral River, N.Y.; a son and his wife, Douglas and Cindy of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Vera Henry of St. Cloud, Minn.; and a granddaughter, Lindsey Hladky.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Bohl.

William Noll
ARTHUR, Iowa - William Noll, 85, of Arthur died Thursday at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services are pending with the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Roy C. Kluver
MAPLETON, Iowa - Roy C. Kluver, 72, of Mapleton died Thursday at a Sioux City Hospital following a stroke.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

William J. Folkers
SMITHLAND, Iowa - William J. Folkers, 78, of Smithland died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital of multiple myeloma.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Smithland. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery in rural Smithland. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Roger P. Hanson
VERMILLION, S.D. - Roger P. Hanson, 55, of Vermillion died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Swedish Hospital Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Vermillion with the Rev. John Berg officiating. Burial will be in Meckling Cemetery in Meckling, S.D. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Arrangements handled by Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home of Vermillion.

Mr. Hanson was born Sept. 5, 1942, in Vermillion, the son of Eugene R. and Marie (Hensley) Hanson. He graduated from Meckling High School in 1960 and received his bachelor of arts in 1964 from Southern State College, and his master of arts in 1971 from the University of South Dakota.

He married Sharon Hladky on Aug. 17, 1968, in Yankton, S.D.

He taught and coached in Wakonda, Jefferson and Tyndall, S.D., also in Lexington and Holdrege, Neb. and at Heelan High School. He retired from teaching and was a cattle order buyer for the past 15 years.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife and three sons, Jeff and his wife, Monica of Sioux Falls, S.D., Steve of Bloomington, Minn., and Dan of Wayne, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Rodney.

Fred Orwig
HARTINGTON, Neb. - Fred Orwig, 72, of Hartington died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Stan Schmit officiating. Burial, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5283, will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 2 p.m., and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Mr. Orwig was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Oakland, Calif., the son of Fred A. and Mary Caroline (Christy) Orwig. He was raised in Winfield, W.V. and Baltimore, Md., where he graduated from high school.

He entered the United States Navy in 1942, serving for 12 years.

He married Doris L. Anderson on Oct. 12, 1946, in Barbers Point, Hawaii. The couple later moved to Hartington and farmed for 18 years.

In 1971 he purchased the Ford/Mercury Dealership and operated Fred Orwig Ford until his death.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Hartington Chamber of Commerce, the City Planning Committee, Hartington VFW Post 5283, serving on the Club Room Committee, American Legion, New Car Dealers Association and served on the Advisory Board for Northeast Nebraska Technical Community College in Norfolk, Neb.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, James of Omaha, Neb., David of Norfolk, Steven of Wynot, Neb., and Christopher of Hartington; six daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Allen Keithly of Atlanta, Texas, Susan Marshal of Omaha, Carol and her husband, Steve Shaver of Denver, Colo., Lisa and her husband, Alan Gansebom of Carlsbad, Calif., and Jennifer and Sarah Orwig of Hinton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ellen Bullack of Winfield, W.V.; and a brother, Jack of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lawrence; and a grandson, Ryand Frederick Orwig.

Doris M. Hirt
SHELDON, Iowa - Doris M. Hirt, 76, of Sheldon died Friday at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gerald Bloemendaal
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Gerald Bloemendaal, 85, of Orange City died Friday at Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m. Sunday with the family present form 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
