Heath B. Vanderlinden
Heath B. Vanderlinden, 23, of Papillion, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at an Omaha hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident that same day.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kahlers Dolce Mortuary in Papillion. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Vanderlinden was born Oct. 2, 1974, in Sioux City, the son of Robert and Loretta (Brandt) Vanderlinden.

Survivors include his fiance, Mindy Hill; two sons, Andrew of Phoenix, Ariz., and Giles Connor; his parents; a brother, Shane; a sister Amanda Vanderlinden; his grandparents, Jerry and Beryl Vanderlinden, and Raymond and Lola Brandt, all of Sioux City; and many aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Shirlee J. Hegstrom
Shirlee Jean (Weisberg) Hegstrom, 68, of Broken Arrow, Okla., formerly of Sioux City, died of lung cancer Monday, April 6, 1998, at her daughter's residence in Broken Arrow.
Private services were Thursday April 9, 1998, in Broken Arrow.

Mrs. Hegstrom was born May 21, 1929, in Pontiac, Mich. She lived in Sioux City from 1964 to November 1997, when she moved to Oklahoma with her daughter.

She was employed with Bostwick's and owned and operated Shirlee's Ceramics. She was also employed with Dean Drug, Ruth's Cosina and the Woodbury County Community Action Agency.

She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sioux City and St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Broken Arrow.

Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Terrebonne of Brokne Arrow; two grandchildren, Kelsi and Blaise Terrebonne; a brother, Steve Rogers of Sioux City; two nieces; a grandniece; and two grandnephews.

May Lampman Luce, 92, of Sioux City died Thursday April 9, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Lee, pastor of Morningside Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Luce was born May 1, 1905 in Ida Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Cobb) Lampman. A South Sioux City and Sioux City resident most of her life, she graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1924, and later from National Business College. She married Don Luce on July 16, 1951, in Elko Nev. He died Dec. 12, 1990. She worked as an executive secretary for Securities Acceptance Corporation and was a member of Business and Professional Women. She was also a past president of Sioux Writers Organization, Sioux City Senior Center, and AARP Chapter 1165.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Joycelyn and Charles Chervek of Sioux City; a son and his wife, F. Rene and Ursula Brown of Omaha, Neb.; a grandson, Bruce Chervek; a granddaughter, Cherie May Paisley; and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Lampman.

Emma Sager
Emma Blanche Sager, 87, of Sioux City died Saturday at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery in Lawton, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Abraham J. Ferris
Abraham J. "A.J." Ferris, 77, of Sioux City died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Martin F. Petersen
Martin F. "Pete" Petersen, 72, of Sioux City died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Leo C. Braden
Leo C. Braden, 80, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. WIlliam Steward officiating. A private burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery in Ute, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Nelson-Berger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Braden was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Soldier, Iowa, the son of Raymond G. and Olga (Ulven) Braden. He attended school in Soldier. He married Garnet O'Connor Nov. 11, 1935, in Soldier. They lived in Soldier, Ute and Ida Grove, Iowa until her death Nov. 19, 1946. He married Connie Nill on Oct. 29, 1960. The couple resided in Glendale, Calif. until June 1994, when they moved to Sioux City for health reasons.

Survivors include his wife of Manderville, La; a son, George Braden of Atlanta; two daughters and their husbands, Mary (Kurth) and Harry "Duane" Peterson of Sioux City, and Jean and Ed Bryant of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Loyd and Evelyn Braden of Fairfield Bay, Ark.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, George Raymond Braden II.

Memorials may be given in his name to Hospice of Siouxland.

Jamie L. McKibbin
KINGSLEY, Iowa - Jamie Lee McKibbin (Vondrak), 21, of Sioux Falls, S.D. died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Services were held Monday, April 6, at Kingsley United Methodist Church in Kingsley, Iowa. Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. McKibbin was born June 1, 1976, in Sioux City, the daughter of Jerome Vondrak and Pamela McKibbin. She graduated from Battle Creek-Ida Grove High School in 1995.

Survivors include her mother of Sioux Falls; her father and stepmother of Paullina, Iowa; four brothers, Joey and Andrew McKibbin of Sioux Falls and Matthew and Robert Vondrak of Paullina; two sisters, Nichole and Kaylene Vondrak of Paullina; grandparents, Jimmie and Janet McKibbin of Ida Grove, Iowa and Jeune Vondrak of Kingsley; great-grandmother, Opal Rhodes of Kingsley; and many aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Donald Vondrak; and great-grandparents, Mildred Curley and Joe and Mildred McKibbin.

Lyle E. Raabe
HOLSTEIN, Iowa - Lyle Ennis Raabe, 88, of Holstein died Thursday April 9, 1998, at Good Samaritan Center in Holstein.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein with the Rev. Curtis Benson officiating. Burial with flag presentation by Dessel-Schmidt American Legion Post #225 will be in Holstein Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.

Mr. Raabe was born Oct. 20, 1909 in Doon, Iowa, the son of Herman and Josephine Melvina (Cock) Raabe. He was baptized in the Lutheran church in Echo, Minn. At the age of four he moved with his parents to a farm in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. He attended the rural schools of Lyon County, Iowa and graduated from Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth, Minn. in May 1927. He moved to Holstein in 1934, and worked with his father in the Card Room. He was drafted into the U.S. Army aircorps in March 1942, and served for 27 months in the European and North African theaters during World War II. He was discharged in October 1945. He joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Holstein in 1945 and remained a member for the rest of his life. He married Gladys Louise Weede March 16, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Holstein.

He worked at the Blue Eagle Bowling Alleys, drove school bus for many years and operated the Legion Club for about 20 years before retiring in July 1974. She died Aug. 16, 1997.

He was a life member of the American Legion, Dessel-Schmidt Post #225 having joined in 1945. He served as local chaplain for 20 years had been local and county commander, had served as district Sergeant-at-Arms for two years, and also had some district appointments. He was also a member of the 40 and 8, the Holstein Golf and Country Club, the Pasttime Club, the Ida County Historical Society and the Community Club of Holstein.

Survivors include a sister and her husband Audrey (Richters) and Gerrit Jongerius; two nephews; two nieces; two great-nephews; cousins; and other relatives.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Len A. Raabe.

Thomas Madden
KINGSLEY, Iowa - Thomas Madden, 87, of Kingsley died Thursday April 9, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley with the Rev. James Fangman officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today with a Scripture service at 4 p.m. at the Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Madden was born July 3, 1910 in Kingsley. He was a lifelong resident of the Kingsley area. He married Myrtle DeRaad on June 24, 1930, in Dakota City, Neb. They farmed until 1976, when they retired and moved into Kingsley. She died Oct. 24, 1994. He enjoyed traveling in the western states and was well known for his woodworking skills. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley.

Survivors include a son, Milton and his wife, Shirleen of Eugene, Ore.; a granddaughter, Denise; and a grandson, Scott.

He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Alice, Bridget, Mary, Nora, and Sarah; and three brothers, Frank, Jack, and Jimmy.

Freeman Faber
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Freeman Faber, 64, of Sioux Center died Friday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, Iowa. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Donald Edwards
CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa - Donald "Blackie" Edwards, 87, of Correctionville, died Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Correctionville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Barker Funeral Home of Correctionville is in charge of the arrangements.

Lola I. Paul
ODEBOLT, Iowa - Lola I. Paul, 87, of Odebolt died Thursday in Ash Flat, Ark.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church in Odebolt. Burial will be in Odebolt Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30 p.m. Monday at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.

Maxine Newman
SALIX, Iowa - Maxine Newman, 68, of Salix, died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. at the church. Wood Funeral Home of Sloan, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements.
