ONAWA, Iowa - Keith Cole, 62, of Onawa died Sunday at his residence.
There will be no services. Public visitation will be held Saturday at 605 6th St. in Onawa, from 7 to 9 p.m. Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa is in charge of the arrangements.

Josephine I. DeRaad
CHATSWORTH, Iowa - Josephine I. (Meins) DeRaad, 83, of Chatsworth died unexpectedly Monday, April 13, 1998, at her residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. DeRaad was born May 29, 1914, in Akron, the daughter of Gerhart and Mary (Knecht) Johnson. She attended country school in the Akron area and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She married Fred G. Meins on March 3, 1933, in Elk Point, S.D. He died June 22, 1962. She then married Arthur DeRaad in 1968, at Chatsworth. He died in April 1986. She was the city treasurer for Chatsworth for many years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the church circle and the Chatsworth Senior Citizens. She volunteered at the Hawarden, Iowa hospital and thrift store. She enjoyed quilting and flowers.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, William and Verla Meins of Dakota City and Robert L. and Jane Meins of Homer, Neb.; two daughters and their husbands, Mildred and Harold Bonnema of Artesia, Calif. and Shirley and Tim Repp of Sioux City; a stepdaughter and her husband, Eleanor and Bud Erickson of Snohomish, Wash.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Frankey DeRaad of Hudson, S.D.; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Ella and her husband George Beeler of Sioux Falls, S.D., Alma and her husband Swede Morrison and Irene Nielsen, all of Janesville, Wis.; a brother, Harvey Johnson of Janesville, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Emil Johnson; a sister, Martha Powell; and a stepson, Lonnie DeRaad.

Pallbearers will be Don and Bob Trageser, Darrell Toben, John Ludwigs, Randy and Carl Westergard.

SPENCER, Iowa - Pearl Bernhagen, 92, of Spencer died Wednesday at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Dale Freeburg
SPENCER, Iowa - Dale Freeburg, 80, of Spencer died Tuesday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Friday, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Chad Thomsen
DOW CITY, Iowa - Chad Thomsen, 23, of Sioux City, formerly of Dow City, died Tuesday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. Burial will be in Dow City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa.

Mildred E. Olberding
ODEBOLT, Iowa - Mildred E. Olberding, 75, of Odebolt died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt, with the Rev. Allan Reicks officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery. Farber and Otteman Funeral Home of Odebolt is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Olberding was born Jan. 28, 1923, in Odebolt, the daughter of Albert and Pearl (Dinges) Landgraf. She attended St. Martin's and Sacred Heart Elementary Schools and gradauted from the Early, Iowa high school in 1941. During World War II, she was employed at a defense plant in Des Moines, later worked at the Firestone Company in Omaha, Neb. and then for the Dresselhuis Law Firm in Odebolt until her marriage.

She married Norman Olberding on Sept. 17, 1949, in Odebolt. The couple farmed near Odebolt until retiring and moving into Odebolt.

She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, the St. Martin's Ladies Society and the funeral choir.

Survivors include her husband; seven sisters, Dorothy Mae and her husband Raymond Blass of Odebolt, Kathleen and her husband Urban Determan of Early, Iowa, Barbara and her husband Bernard Faber of Spencer, Iowa, Jean Jackson and Lois and her husband Roger Kipf, all of Davenport, Iowa, Helen and her husband Paul Eckerman of Conrad, Iowa, and Marilyn Fitzgerald of Freemont, Neb.; a brother and his wife, George and Dorothy Landgraf of Odebolt; and her mother-in-law, Dora Oberding of Odebolt.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Mary Ann.

Duane M. Warland
REMSEN, Iowa - Duane M. Warland, 64, of Remsen died Wednesday at the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. Private burial will be at a later date in Maryland. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

John Heitman
HARTINGTON, Neb. - John Heitman, 62, of Hartington died Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Yanton, S.D.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington. Burial will be in Hartington City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Floyd E. Malcom
STORM LAKE, Iowa - Floyd E. Malcom, 85, of Storm Lake died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Storm Lake Church of Christ, with the Rev. Gary Hollers officiating. Burial will be in Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. conducted by the Jewel Lodge 309 of Storm Lake, at the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Mr. Malcom was born Dec. 12, 1912, near Glenwood, Iowa, the son of George W. and Mary (Mitchell) Malcom. He attended country school and Glenwood High School. He worked on farms in the Hastings and Emerson, Iowa area and in 1935, he moved to Sac County, Iowa and worked on farms. He also worked in the Ogden Utah and Idaho areas, returning to Sac County in June 1939.

He married Elsie Lindsey. In 1941, the farmed near Newell, Iowa and in 1943, near Storm Lake. They moved into Storm Lake in 1981.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; eight children, Charles and his wife Karen of O'Fallon, Ill., Carol and her husband Ronald Bottin of Springfield, Mo., Margaret and her husband Milo Kindwall of Cherokee, Iowa, Ben and his wife Judith of Albert City, Iowa, Bette Smith of Santa Rosa, Calif., Mike and his wife Diane of Storm Lake, Richard and his wife Karen of Schaller, Iowa and Robert of Fort Collins, Colo.; 19 grandchildren, Gregory, Douglas, Nathan, Nicholas, Taylor, Marcus, Jenna, Tyron, Kayde, Tara, Tiffany and Matthew Malcom, Jeff and Cheryl Bottin, Phillip, Christy and Brian Kindwall, Chaka and Airto Elliott Smith; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lola Smith, Dorothy Sprague and an infant sister; and four brothers, Edward, Walter, Paul and Robert.

Memorials may be directed to the Buena Vista County Hospice.

Bobby Anderson
HARTLEY, Iowa - Bobby Anderson, 57, of Hartley died Tuesday at the Baum-Harmon Hosptial in Primghar, Iowa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Hartley. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Warner Funeral Home in Hartley.

Estella B. Russell
IDA GROVE, Iowa - Estella B. Russell, 84, of Ida Grove died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at the Morningside Rehab. and Care Center in Ida Grove.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Frist United Methodist Church in Ida Grove, with the Rev. Marvin Lindley officiating. Burial will be in Ida Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m., at the church. Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home of Ida Grove is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Russell was born July 16, 1913, in Hartford, S.D., the daughter of Claude L. and Olive Ann (Scott) Goodwin. She moved with her family to Ida Grove.

She married Carman C. Russell on Jan. 18, 1936, in Ida Grove. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Ida Grove Rebekah Lodge and First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed needlework, baking and playing cards.

Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Wes Wunschel of Kerrville, Texas, Carol and Frank Cranston of Elkhorn, Neb., Barbara and Dow Voss of Coralville, Iowa and Dona and Henry Miller of Mesa, Ariz.; a son, John A. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chester Goodwin and Wesley and his wife Irene Goodwin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Howard and Fred Goodwin.

Ronald D. Deloy
Ronald D. Deloy, 71, of Huron, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died of a heart attack Monday, April 13, 1998, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Mellette, S.D. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Coleman-Thelan Funeral Home in Redfield, S.D.

Mr. Deloy entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 14, 1946. He was employed as a service manager of Sears and Roebuck in Sioux City for several years prior to working for Equitable Insurance in Huron.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his special friend, Harriett Kelly; two daughters, Toye Thelen and her husband John of Mansfield, S.D. and Sandie Wohlert of South Sioux City; his mother, Ruth Deloy; two sisters, Diane and Joanne; two brothers, Al and Jim; and three grandchildren, Shellie and Mike Thelen and Robbie Wohlert.

Harold R. Shelton
Harold R. "Hal" Shelton, 74, of Everett, Wash., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday April 12, 1998, at his residence.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Crossroads Snohomish Foursquare Church in Snohomish, Wash. Private burial will be Saturday in Evergreen Cemetery at Everett. Bauer Funeral Chapel of Snohomish is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Shelton was born March 4, 1924, in Sioux City, the son of Robert W. and Alma (Ohman) Shelton. He was employed as a banker in the Everett area.

Survivors include his wife, Marion; a daughter and her husband, Sandra Lee and David Polk of Lake Stevens, Wash.; two sons and their wives, Robert W. and Louisa of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii and Randall L. and Glynis of Spanaway, Wash.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Scott, Stephen, Jeffrey and Kelvie Shelton; five stepgrandchildren, Rachel, Paul, Anna, Leia and Justin Spivey; a brother and his wife, Don C. and Betty of Decatur, Ill.; a sister, Frances J. Garbe of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Eric John.

Memorials may be directed to the Hal Shelton Junior Golf Memorial Fund in Snohomish.

Joseph D. Schuetz
Joseph Dominic Schuetz, 56, Bethesda, Md., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday in Bethesda of a brief illness.

Services will be today at St. Jane de Chantal Church in Bethesda. Burial will be in Bethesda. Pumphries Funeral Home of Bethesda is in charge of the arrangements.

Agnes D. Lamoureux
Agnes D. Lamoureux of Sioux City died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Cemetery at Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lamoureux was born April 2, 1916, in Akron, the daughter of Axel C. and Margaret (Gleason) Bay. She attended Preston Township School, St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Akron High School in 1933.

She married Loyd M. Lamoureux on Aug. 4, 1943, in Victoria, Texas. She was employed with Fishgall Clothing Store in Sioux City for 35 years, retiring in 1980. He died Jan. 7, 1986, in Akron.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Teresa Court 578.

Survivors include a son and his wife, James and Linda of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Jeanine and Richard Newton of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Nicole, Maggie and James Lamoureux Jr., Kandi and Jenn Newton; two brothers, Jules "Brownie" and his wife Darlene Bay of Sioux City and Phil Bay of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters and their husbands, Claire and Loren Thuringer of South Sioux City and Barbara and Curtis Hansen of Le Mars, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Gene, Donald, Stanley and Paul Bay.

Pallbearers will be Staci Hansen, Jeff Harms, Mike Lamoureux, Shane Benson, Greg and Tim Bay.

Roger W. DeMey
Roger William DeMey, 45, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, April 13, 1998, at the McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Services will be at noon Saturday at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. DeMey was born Sept. 22, 1952, in Sioux City. He was raised and attended school in Sioux City. He lived in Denison, Iowa before moving to Sioux Falls.

He married Jonette Gajewski on Nov. 18, 1994, in Sioux Falls. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls. He was employed with the YMCA, before working at Hutchinson Technology.

Survivors include his wife and two daughters, Christine and Jessica, both of Sioux Falls.

Leita C. Stribley
Leita Catherine Stribley, 92, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 5, 1998.
Private memorial services were held April 7, in Correctionville Cemetery, Correctionville, Iowa. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Stribley was born Oct. 1, 1906, in Correctionville, the daughter of Lee J. and Della M. (Sullivan) Stribley. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1924 and attended the University of Northern Iowa and Morningisde College.

She taught in Correctionville as assistant primary teacher and at several other public schools in Iowa. She later taught at M.G. Clark School in Sioux City, retiring in 1974.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, the Eastern Star Rose Croix 400 and the National and International Scleroderma Foundations.

Survivors include a brother, Vernon L. Stribley of Porterville, Calif. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death two sisters, Beatrice F. Brown and Helen F. Barber; and four brothers, Harry B., Earl Dolph, Lyle E. and Glenn R. Stribley.

Memorials may be directed to the Scleroderma Foundation in Newcastle, Penn.

Carole L. Miller
Carole L. Miller, 63, of Sioux City died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Miller was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clayton L. and Gladys L. (Riley) Jones. She graduated from East High School and attended Morningside College.

She married James L. Miller on April 6, 1956, in Denver, Colo. She was employed with Morningside College and Iowa Public Service. She was also employed with Sioux City Brick and Tile for 20 years, prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the Sorosis Book Club. She was a Girl Scout leader and was associated with the church circles of Immaculate Conception and Nativity Catholic Churches. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed golf.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Jerry J. of Sioux City; four daughters and their husbands, Barbara A. and Glenn Murkins, Cheryl L. and Bill Enockson, Kathi S. and Elmer Smith and Nancy J. and Paul Treft, all of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Susan R. Miller of Sioux City and Janet L. Kober of Grand Island, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Leslie Ann Enockson.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Murkins, Bill Enockson, Elmer Smith, Paul Treft, Larry Lehmann, John McKeone, Louie Kober and Jim Shay.

Genevieve C. Harshfield
Genevieve Corrine Harshfield, 77, of Sioux City died Monday, April 13, 1998.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Nativity Catholic Church, with Monsignor Michael D. Sernett officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4 p.m. conducted by the Catholic Daughters of America and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harshfield was born May 7, 1920, in Liberty Township, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur V. and Agnes Victoria (Brosseau) Richard. She was raised in the Salix, Iowa area and gradauted from St. Joseph High School in 1938. She moved to Sioux City in the early 1940s.

She was employed with Wincharger Electric and then for the City of Sioux City for a brief time before becoming a deputy sheriff with Woodbury County.

She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a past member of the Eagles Club in Sioux City.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Laurence "Larry" and Donna of Sioux City; a daughter, Lorraine Goettsch of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister and her husband, Mary "Kity" and Curtis Fast of Port Hueneme, Calif.; a half sister, Florence Renisch of Bourbonnais, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Frishman of Ankeny, Iowa and Lorraine Richard of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren, Eric, Scott, Curt and Chrissy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stuart Harshfield; a sister, Brunette James; and two brothers, Rene and Maurice Richard.

Dorothy I. Gamble
Dorothy I. Gamble, 105, of Sioux City died Tuesday in Sioux City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Marie A. Grundman
Marie A. Grundman, 84, of Sioux City died Thursday; Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
