Minnie B. Rudanis
Minnie B. Rudanis, 83, of Sioux City died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruch, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mr. Rudanis was born July 7, 1914, in Huron, S.D., the daughter of Merle and Mary (Wallman) Allen. She graduated from Augustana Academy in Beresford, S.D.

She married Stanley Rudanis on Oct. 1, 1942, in South Sioux City. He died June 5, 1975. She was employed as a line worker with Johnson Biscuit Company for 16 years before retiring.

She was a member of the Bakers Union of South Sioux City, the Eagles and the Sioux City Senior Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Euvella Riggs and Novella Jones, both of Sioux City; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Willis E. Junker
Willis E. Junker, 72, of Sioux City died Wednesday at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Patty Bishop
Patty (Pilgrim) Bishop, 50, of Dale City, Va., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Services and burial was in Virginia. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Robert Schimmer officiating. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of the local arrangements.

Mrs. Bishop was born Oct. 18, 1947, in Sioux City. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School.

She married Walter Bishop on Sept. 14, 1990, in Sioux City. She was employed as the manager of the Downtown Younkers Department Store in Sioux City and the T.J. Maxx store in Potomac Mill, Va.

Survivors include her husband; her parents, Donald and Nancy Hansen of Sioux City; a daughter, Karen Christina Bishop of Manassas, Va.; a son, Mark Stephen Bishop of Carbondale, Ill.; three sisters, Gayle Pilgrim, Suzanne Quinn and Jamie Miller, all of Sioux City; a brother, Robert Pilgram of Sioux City; and six nieces.

Gus R. Spaustat
Gus R. Spaustat, 78, of Sioux City died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Berkemier Funeral Home.

Mr. Staustat was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Gus and Alma (Suddith) Staustat. He moved with his family to Sioux City as a child. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, returning to Sioux City. He was employed with Western Union and later at Sioux City Dressed Pork Company.

He married Bernice Bettighofer on Oct. 6, 1986, in Scottsdale, Ariz. The couple made their home in Sioux City, moving to South Sioux City in 1988. She died Feb. 24, 1998.

He was a member of First Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Gunderson of Sioux City and Ruth Westadt of Loves Park, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Rosa Spaustat of Eton, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Toby; and a sister, Dorothy Wellsandt.

Bobby Gray
ONAWA, Iowa - Robert "Bobby" Steele Gray, 19, of Onawa died Monday, April 27, 1998, near Salix, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with Pastor Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Gray was born April 8, 1979, in Sioux City, the son of Harold "Otis" and Vicki (Thelander) Gray. He graduated from West Monona High School in Onawa in May 1997. He was currently attending Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb.

He was a member of the 185th Fighter Wing of the Iowa Air National Guard and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Iowa.

He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include his parents; a sister, Abby Jo of Onawa; grandparents, Jack and Evelyn Hall, Berniece Miller and Earl and Hope Thelander, all of Onawa; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys; and his grandfather, Sam.

Clara L. Kroll
MAPLETON, Iowa - Clara Lydia Mathilde Kroll, 90, of Mapleton died Monday, April 27, 1998, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Soldier Township, rural Charter Oak, Iowa, with the Rev. Eugene Ernst officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Kroll was born Aug. 12, 1907, in Ricketts, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrich and Mathilde (Fester) Wodtke. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She married Edwin L. Kroll on June 25, 1933, in rural Charter Oak. The couple farmed in the Crawford County area until his death in 1959. She then moved into Mapleton, where she was employed as a cook with Maple Valley School.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women Missionary League, the Lutheran Layman League, the Berne Co-op, the Mapleton Senior Citizens and several card clubs. She enjoyed playing cards and flowers.

Survivors include a sister, Helma Engelke of Mapleton; a brother and his wife, Leonard and June Wodtke of Anthon, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Lillian Wodtke of Mapleton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marcus and Martin Wodtke; a sister-in-law, Edna Wodtke; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Engelke.

Jacqueline Carl
DENISON, Iowa - Jacqueline (Heffernan) Carl, 54, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Denison, died Friday at the Nathan Adelson Hospice Center in Las Vegas.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Friday, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.

June E. Linman
ARTHUR, Iowa - June E. Linman, 74, of Arthur died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Arthur Evangelical Free Church, with the Rev. Robert Lundberg officiating. Burial will be in Hayes Township Cemetery, rural Arthur. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Odebolt, Iowa. Visitation will resume from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Linman was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Herbert and Ruth (Frideen) Brask. She graduated from high school in 1942, then attended business school in Minneapolis before graduating in 1947 from the Free Church Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill.

She married James Linman on July 17, 1948, in Minneapolis.

She was a member of Evangelical Free Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a youth leader and deacon. She was also a member of W.M.S. Christian Womens Club and enjoyed reading and traveling.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter and her husband, Barb and Pat Joynt of Curlew, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Bruce and Josie of Stine, Germany and Marc and Joy of Kiron, Iowa; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Beverly Nordell and Barbara and her husband James Elrod, all of Minneapolis, Priscilla Johnson of Lindsborg, Kan. and Patricia and her husband James Rodine of North St. Paul, Minn.; and two brothers and their wives, Roger and Faith Brask of Minneapolis and Jay and Judy Brask of Apple Valley, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Craig Brask; and two brothers-in-law, Glendon Nordell and Lowell Johnson.

Ted L.M. Martin
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Ted L.M. Martin, 72, of Cherokee died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at the Country Side Estates following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the Rev. A.E. McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Quimby Cemetery, Quimby, Iowa, at a later date. The body was donated to science.

Mr. Martin was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Quimby, the son of Aaron D. and Rosa (Rector) Martin. Following graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy for three and a half years during World War II.

He married Billie M. Hartliep on July 21, 1947, in Walnut Creek, Calif. He owned a foor covering store in California before moving back to Cherokee. He was employed with Schmidt's Furniture. He opened Martin Interior's from 1960 until his retirement in 1991.

He was a member of the Cherokee Country Club and enjoyed golf.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Randi A. Martin of Elkins Park, Penn., Ricki L. Martin Fowler of Green Valley, Ariz. and Rene E. Martin and her husband Dr. Jerry Suls of Iowa City, Iowa; a son and his wife, Robin D. and Patrice of Cherokee; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Jewel Pearse, Ruby Crimmings and Mary Schramm, all of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Homer.

Royce R. Christiansen
ODEBOLT, Iowa - Royce R. Christiansen, 67, of Moorhead, Minn., formerly of Odebolt and Arthur, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at The Lutheran Church of Good Shepherd in Moorhead. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Fargo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Korsmo Funeral Chapel in Moorhead. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Mr. Christiansen was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Odebolt, the son of Otto and Flora Christiansen. He was raised and attended school in Arthur.

He married Anabel Randolph on July 3, 1954, in Nashua, Iowa. She died in 1988. He was employed with Red Owl grocery store from 1955 to 1988, the with Super Valu as a meat specialist until retiring in 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Candace Christiansen; a granddaughter, Jamie Christiansen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Forrest and Norman; and a sister, Barbara Adamski.

Maxine Jacobs
LAKE CITY, Iowa - Maxine Jacobs, 81, of Lake City, formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at the Shady Oaks in Lake City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lake City Union Church. Burial will be in Lake City Cemetery. Visitaion will be after 5 p.m. Friday at the Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

Mrs. Jacobs was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Elsie Young. She was later adopted by Gus and Velma Beeler and moved to Lake City. She attended Central Elementary School and graduated from West View High School in 1934. She was employed with Graphic, Lake City Finance Company and sold tickets at the theater.

She married Frenk Jacobs on Sept. 5, 1942, in Albuquerque, N.M. In 1948, they moved to Sioux City and later returning to Lake City in 1993.

While in Sioux City, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Board of Deaconesses, the PEO Chapter KE, the PTA and the Order of the Eastern Star. She volunteered at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. She served in the board of the Elizabeth Day Nursery Center and was a Cub Scout Den mother.

While in Lake City, she was a member of Union Church, the Rebecca Circle, the PEO Chapter BO and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, William Walter and Jordis of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. and Michael Frank and Kristi of Davenport, Iowa; six grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Jason, Jennifer, Janell and Margaret Ann Jacobs; three sisters, Margaret Gregory of Jefferson, Iowa, Maurine Ott of Fort Dodge, Iowa and Joyce Groen of Lake City; three brothers, Byron Young of Elgin, Ill., Jack Stubs of Ottumwa, Iowa and Maurice Coats of Baldwin Park, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her adoptive parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Robert.

Mary E. Goodrich
CLEGHORN, Iowa - Mary E. Goodrich, 97, of Marcus, Iowa, formerly of Cleghorn, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with a family prayer service at 2:15 p.m., at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the Rev. Pamela Prouty officiating. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery, Meriden, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Visitation will resume from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Goodrich was born Dec. 2, 1900, in Morris, Minn., the daughter of Simon and Mary Ann (Pitts) Zembsch. She was employed as a housekeeper.

She married Emery G. Goodrich on Jan. 9, 1920, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Cleghorn in 1920. He died Aug. 11, 1970. She entered the Heartland Care Center in Marcus in August 1994.

She was a member of Cleghorn Presbyterian Church, the Dorcas Circle, the Cleghorn American Legion Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge, Canton Auxiliary and the Cleghorn Senior Citizens. She was also a charter member of the Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary.

Survivors include three daughters, Bernice and her husband Lyle McIntosh of Cleghorn, Doris Dunn of Meriden and Patricia and her husband Dewey Behrens of Meriden; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Goodrich of Cleghorn; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a great-grest-grandson; a sister, Bernadine Hanlon of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and three sisters-in-law, Altha Treptow of Blue Eye, Mo., Lilas Goodrich of Cleghorn and Marie Goodrich of Mountain City, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence; a son-in-law, Darrell Dunn; three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Bernard Zembsch; and three sisters, Cecilia Trainor, Anna Chase and Loretta Townsend.

James D. Anderson, 73, of Hawarden, Iowa died Wednesday; Porter-Dow Funeral Home of Hawarden.
