Mae K. Cole
Mae K. "Sis" Cole, 73, of Sioux City died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
There will be no services. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Cole was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Ruby Blanford. She attended Sioux City schools.

She married Darrell Cole. He died in 1950.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Doreen Leon of Sioux City and Katherine and her husband, Jose Camarillo, of Brawley, Calif.; a son, George Stewart and his wife, Vicki, of Sioux City; two sisters, Blanche Eggink of Sioux City and Lucille and her husband, Loyal Erp, of Arvada Colo.; four brothers, James Blanford and his wife, Gertrude, and George Blanford, all of Chadron, Neb., Joe Blanford and his wife, Grace, of Haysville, Kan., and Bob Blanford of Sioux City; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; two sons, John Cole and baby Stewart; and a grandson.

Marjory D. Taylor
Marjory D. Taylor, 78, of Redwood City, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday Aug. 13, 1998, of a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be held in Redwood City. The body will be cremated. A memorial service and burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Mrs. Taylor was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Ponca, the daughter of Charles T. and Genevieve A. McClary.

Survivors include two sons, Bob and his wife, Wendy, of Lafayette, Calif., and Bill of Redwood City; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob McClary of Sioux City; three sisters and their husbands, Betty and Stanley Sponder of Sioux City, Maxine and Rudy Petersen of Hartley, Iowa, and Shirley and Gene Mogensen of Sergeant Bluff; and a sister-in-law, Derith McClary of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary J. Taylor; a sister, Dorothy Hammond; and a brother, Dean McClary.

Deloris M. Paulsen
Deloris M. (Croy) Paulsen, 77, of Sioux City, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Mueller and the Rev. Nathan C. Houfek of Our Savior's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Paulsen was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Maskell, Neb., to Carl and Bertina (Rosendahl) Lukken. She came to Sioux City as a young adult and lived most of her life in the Sioux City area.

She married Myrland Croy Oct. 26, 1940 in Maskell. He died Dec. 13, 1983, in Sioux City. She later married Peter Paulsen, Jr.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, David D. Croy of Kansas City, Mo., and John M. Croy and Richard A. Croy, both of Sioux City; a daughter, Nancy A. Jasper of Omaha; a brother, Oden Lukken of Hubbard, Neb.; two sisters, Aldean Buck of Sioux City and Grace Meyers of South Sioux City; six grandchildren and a great-grandaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.

Pallbearers will be Rod Moore, Bruce Jasper, Don Ruffner, Randy Lukken, Dennis Lukken and Tom Lukken.

Beverly A. Glover
Beverly A. Glover, 68, of Sioux City died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Meckling Cemetery at Meckling, S.D. There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Glover was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Sioux City to Julius H. and Myrtle (Mikelson) Myron. She graduated from Central High School.

She married Donald W. Glann in 1964 in Elk Point, S.D. She resided in Sioux City for the majority of her life.

She was past president of the Sioux City Eagles. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Steven and Angela Glann of Sioux City; two daughters, Sandra and her husband, Larry Ludwig, of Fort Bowie, Ariz., and Jody Findeisen of Bronson, Iowa; two brothers, Donald Myron and his wife, Donna, of Minneapolis and Richard Myron of Orange, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Melvin Myron.

Frank W. Bracht
Frank W. Bracht, 93, of Sioux City, died Monday at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the family present 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 8 p.m.

Rene (Skip) Hickey
Rene (Skip) Hickey, 44, Crystal, Minn., died Tuesday.

Stella De Haan
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Stella De Haan, 97, died Monday at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Newkirk Reformed Church of rural Hospers. Burial will be in Newkirk Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Shirley J. Aldred
PRIMGHAR, Iowa - Shirley J. Aldred, 65, of Primghar, died Monday at Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Church of Primghar. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Primghar.

James C. Stutzman
MOVILLE, Iowa - James Chancey Stutzman, 73, of Moville died Monday at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Moville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery at Moville. The McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville is in charge of arrangements.

Alvina Vander Zwaag
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Alvina Vander Zwaag, 75, of rural Orange City died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Casa De Paz Home in Sioux City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Free Grace Reformed Church of Middleburg with the Rev. Stephen Breen officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Mrs. Vander Zwaag was born Nov. 13, 1922, at Ireton, Iowa, to Ed and Allie (Kneubel) Beimers. She was raised at Ireton and Orange City.

She married Wein Adrian Vander Zwaag on Nov. 15, 1940, at Orange City. They farmed at Middleburg, Iowa. She later resided at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa. Since January of this year, she had been a resident of Casa De Paz.

She was a member of Free Grace Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Audrey and Delbert Wiersma of Hospers, Iowa, and Karen and Clarence Vander Veen of Orange City; nine grandchildren, Denice De Goei, La-roy and John Wayne Wiersma, Andrea Grossmann, Carma Louwerse and Cory, Craig, Chris and Cathy Vanderveen; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Thurlow Beimers of Sioux Center and Lloyd Beimers of Hospers, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda; a stillborn son, Wayne; a great-grandaughter, April Louwerse; and a sister Kathryn Malisch.

Memorials may sent to Free Grace Reformed Church.

Florence Jeanette Gehrts
HOLSTEIN, Iowa - Florence Jeanette Gehrts, 94, of Holstein died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Good Samaritan Center in Holstein.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein with the Rev. Curtis Benson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery Midway Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.

Mrs. Gehrts was born June 1, 1904, in Ida Grove, Iowa, to John and Johannah (Behrens) Cassin. She attended a country school and spent her youth in the Anthon, Iowa, area.

She married Herbert Gehrts on Jan. 17, 1922, in Sioux City. They farmed in the Danbury and Correctionville areas. He died Sept. 22, 1968. She moved to Holstein in 1978.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Ronald and Rita of Irving, Tex.; two daughters, Geri Bruning of Holstein and Kathy Bicking of Emporia, Va.; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Beverley Bessler of Powell, Wyo.; a sister, Freda Ellsworth of Sioux City and a sister-in-law, Anna Cassens of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bette Grell, an infant son and a son, Norman Gehrts; 13 brothers and sisters.

Lois Mudder
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Lois Mudder, 80, of Sioux Falls died Tuesday.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester. Burial will be in Big Springs Church cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester, S.D.

Emma Scholer
LE MARS, Iowa - Emma Scholer, 101, of Le Mars died Tuesday at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Services will at at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars is in charge of arrangements.

Martha J. Anderson
SIOUX RAPIDS, Iowa - Martha J. Anderson, 99, of Sioux Rapids died Saturday at Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, Iowa. Burial will be in Barnes Township Cemetery of Linn Grove. Sliefert Funeral Home of Sioux Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Miller
STORM LAKE, Iowa - Alice Miller, 79, of Storm Lake died Monday in Sioux City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park of Storm Lake. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Slifert Funeral Home, Storm Lake.

Paul T. O'Connell
OTO, Iowa - Paul T. O'Connell, 93, of Oto died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Oto. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. at the church in Oto. The Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. O'Connell was born April 15, 1905, to Jeffrey and Emma (Eisenminger) O'Connell on a farm east of Anthon, Iowa. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Anthon.

He farmed and barbered for a few years. In 1933, he became a beer distributor in Ida Grove, Iowa.

On May 15, 1939, he married Bernice Dixon in Anthon. The couple operated a tavern in Battle Creek, Iowa, for a few years. In 1942 they moved to a farm south of Oto. In 1943, he bought and operated the Anthon Pool Hall for around five years. In 1950 he returned to his farm and operated it until 1971 when they moved into Oto. His wife died Dec. 25, 1995.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Joe and Doris of Smithland, Iowa; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and an infant sister.
