Arne Jensen
Arne Jensen, 83, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Hospice of Arizona in Phoenix, Ariz., following a lengthy illness.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 1, at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church in Sun City. The Rev. Ron Pechauer officiated. Burial was in Veteran's Cemetery at Cave Creek, Ariz., with military rites.

Mr. Jensen was born June 11, 1915, in Sioux City, the son of Axel and Hedvig (Johansen) Jensen. He graduated from East High School.

He married Enid G. Boe on April 4, 1940, in Sioux City.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a chief carpenter in a Seabee unit, stationed in the Aleutian Islands, from 1943 to 1946. He then served in the Naval Reserves until 1954.

The couple moved to Redwood, Calif., where he was a construction superintendent with several companies, including Eichler Homes and Bank Builders Corp. Some projects he was involved with were highrise buildings in San Francisco, Foothill College in Los Gatos, Calif., the Shelter Creek Apartments in Daly City, Calif., and meatpacking plants in Warsaw, Poland.

He was active in Messiah Lutheran Church and 4-H for many years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Julie Clare and her husband, Bashir Sulahria, of Carson City, Nev., and Elizabeth Karne Jensen of Alameda, Calif.; two grandchildren, Don Barksdale and Taj Sulahria; a sister, Mary Jensen; two brothers, Axel and Elmer Jensen; 12 nieces; and eight nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Maddison, Ellen Davis and Nora Francis; and a brother, Sigvard Jensen.

Memorials in his name may be given to Hospice of Arizona, Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church or Messiah Lutheran Church in Redwood City, Calif.

Darlene Jane (Benton) Potts, 81, of Sioux City died Tuesday; Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Harry Wm. Faber
BOYDEN, Iowa - Harry Wm. Faber, 61, of Boyden died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at United Presbyterian Church in Boyden. Burial will be at 1 p.m. today in Sheridan Township Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

Mr. Faber was born March 25, 1937, in Orange City, Iowa, the son of William and Esther (Berkenpas) Faber. He attended Orange City Christian School and later the Sioux City Barber College.

He married Gertrude M. Engeltjes on April 29, 1957, in Orange City. The couple lived in Rock Rapids, Iowa, for one year.

He purchased Boyden Barber Shop in 1958 and operated it until 1973. He was currently working for Demco.

He was a member of United Presbyterian Church. He served as a trustee of the church and on the Boyden Park Board for several years. He was a past Cub Scout Master and enjoyed yard work, woodworking and motorcycling.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Keith of Boyden; a daughter and her husband, Karla and Ron Pulscher of Sheldon; four grandchildren, Kandy and Randi Faber and Nick and Alesha Pulscher; and two brothers and their wives, Marvin and Marilyn of Boyden and Kenneth and Jan of Sioux Center, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rebecca A. Wallace
HOMER, Neb. - Rebecca Ann Wallace, 22, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Homer, died Sunday in Prescott.
Private memorial services will be held today in Sioux City.

Wilma L. Albrecht
WAUSA, Neb. - Wilma L. Albrecht, 95, of Wausa died Sunday at Osmond General Hospital in Osmond, Neb.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at United Methodist Church in Wausa. Burial will be in Osmond City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Brockhaus-Scott Funeral Home in Wausa.

Gertrude Farley
DUNLAP, Iowa - Gertrude Farley, 82, of Dunlap died Monday at her residence.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa.

Pearl Johannsen
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Pearl Swanson Johannsen, 87, of Cherokee died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, with a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the Rev. Richard Arndt officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Odebolt Cemetery, Odebolt, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johannsen was born Jan. 18, 1911, in Arthur, Iowa, the daughter of Enard and Elizabeth (Olson) Gustafson. She attended Alta (Iowa) School and Brooke High School.

She married Ernest Swanson on April 20, 1935, in Sioux City. He died March 22, 1962. She married Peter A. Johannsen on March 3, 1965, in Cherokee. He died Nov. 10, 1981.

She was employed with Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee for a few years. She had been a resident of Cherokee for 35 years; prior to that she lived on farms near Arthur and Ida Grove, Iowa.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Darrell and Delores Swanson of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Jim and Dianne Swanson of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; Bryan, Tera, Scott and Ryan Swanson, Linda Cline and Susan Coulander; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Emer Gustafson of Odebolt.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Wava B. Anderson
ALCESTER, S.D. - Wava B. Anderson, 83, of Alcester died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at Morningside Manor Nursing Home in Alcester.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester, with the Rev. Robert Jones officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester.

Mrs. Anderson was born March 9, 1915, in Hudson, S.D. She attended elementary and junior high school in Sioux City and graduated from Hudson High School.

She was employed in Sioux City and later in Chicago as a caregiver.

She married Oliver "Bob" Anderson on April 9, 1939, in Hudson. The couple farmed in the Hudson area, until moving to Alcester in 1973. He died in 1993. She entered the Morningside Manor Nursing Home in June 1995.

She was a member of Nathanael Lutheran Church, Ladies Aide and Senior Citizens. She was a former Sunday School teacher and 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert and Bobette of Hudson; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Dennis Treiber of Hudson and Helen and William Kirk of Tokyo, Japan; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Gordon Bunker of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a stepbrother, Dale Farnsworth of Yoakum, Texas; and a sister and her husband, Maxine and Merle Berndt of Palm Desert, Calif.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Nathanael Lutheran Church.

Mark R. Griffith
SPENCER, Iowa - Mark Raymond Griffith, 46, of Spencer died Saturday of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Albert City, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home.

Lorraine Voss
SIBLEY, Iowa - Lorraine Voss, 76, of Sibley died Monday at Sibley Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Sibley. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Walton, Roste and Vogel Funeral Home in Sibely.

Hazel A. Lohse, 82, of Moville, Iowa, died Tuesday; McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.
