Roger Dean Kleve, 63, of Sioux City, died Friday at his residence after a long illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Merle Chedester
Milo "Merle" Chedester, 70, of Sioux City, died Friday at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Pearl Hinds

Pearl Hinds, 96, of Martinsburg, Neb., died Saturday at Wakefield Healthcare Center in Wakefield, Neb.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bressler-Humlicek Funeral Home in Wakefield with burial in Eastview Cemetery in Allen, Neb.

William W. Broer
William W. "Bill" Broer, 54, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday in a Tucson, Ariz., hospital after a long illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Emma A. Webb
Emma A. Webb, 91, of Sioux City died Friday at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Glen D. Osterholt
Glen D. Osterholt, 53, of Sioux City died Friday following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., and a Scriptural Wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Harold L. Wasson, Sr.
Harold L. Wasson, Sr., 83, of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home after a brief illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. A. T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Wasson was born March 12, 1915, in Sioux City, the son of Lester and Grace (Blood) Wasson. He married Juliana Bilinsky on Jan. 23, 1934, in Sioux City. She died June 9, 1994, in Sioux City.

He was a lifelong Sioux City resident. He worked for the City of Sioux City for 18 years.

Survivors include two sons, Harold, Jr., and his wife, Penny, of Virginia Beach, Fla., and Mark and his wife, Bonnie, of Sioux City; one daughter, Carlene Seible and her husband, Doug, of Le Mars, Iowa; ten grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Derby, and two infant daughters, Marlene and Mary.

Bette M. Hack
McCOOK LAKE - Bette M. Hack, 71, of McCook Lake, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Riverside Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn Schacht officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Berkemier Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hack was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Sioux City to Irving and Mary (Lanctot) Hasler. She graduated from Central High School in 1945. She was employed by Western Union Telegraph Co. as a telegrapher in Cincinnati, Ohio, for several years. She returned to Sioux City where she attended Morningside College.

She married Lance D. Hack on Jan. 3, 1964, in Sioux City.

She was employed at Gordon Memorial Hospital as an administrator until she retired in 1964. She traveled with her husband in connection with his job for several years. They moved to McCook Lake in 1966.

Mrs. Hack was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 134, the North Sioux City Senior Citizens and the American Ostomy Association.

Survivors include her husband; one brother, Guy Hasler of Iowa City, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Jane Burdge.

Paul D. Raeside
Paul D. Raeside, 73, of Owosso, Mich., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Memorial Health Care Center in Owosso.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 14, in Owosso. Arrangements were under the direction of Jennings-Lyons Funeral Chapel in Owosso.

H. Irene Anfinson
H. Irene Anfinson, 92, of Sioux City, died Saturday; Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Bernice L. Pope
EMERSON, Neb. - Bernice L. Pope, 78, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Emerson, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at a hospital in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Emerson, with the Rev. Don Wilken officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Emerson.

Mrs. Pope was born March 6, 1920, in Emerson, the daughter of Otto and Emily (Stalbaum) Zeisler. She married W. George Pope on Jan. 17, 1945. They farmed near Emerson until his death in 1981. After his death, Mrs. Pope moved into Emerson and in 1998, she moved to Lincoln to be with her family.

Survivors include a son, Ron and his wife, Helen, of Lincoln; a daughter, Karen and her husband, Marv Flaugh, of Homer, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Valerie and Rachel Pope, Lisa Andersen, Lori James, and Lance and Jamie Flaugh; four brothers and their wives: Darrel and Geraldine Zeisler, Orville and Mildred Zeisler, Arthur and Betty Zeisler and William and MaryAnn Zeisler, all of Emerson.

She was proceeded in death by two sisters, Elinar Heseberg and Ruby Zeisler.

Elmer A. Sweet
EARLY, Iowa - Elmer Arthur Sweet, 93, of Early and formerly of Nemaha, Iowa, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at a nursing home in Lake View, Iowa, after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Early United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karl Schiltz officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Mr. Sweet was born Feb. 7, 1905, in Sac County, Iowa, the son of Frank and Leona (Young) Sweet. He attended country schools and graduated in 1923 from Storm Lake High School.

He married Lillian Terwilliger on Feb. 13, 1935. He farmed in the Nemaha area until 1979 when he and his wife retired and moved to Early. He was a member of Early United Methodist Church.'

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Henry-Morgan and her husband, Tom Morgan, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two sons, Allan of Everett, Wash., and Eldon and his wife, Jacque, of Branson, Mo.; a sister, Verda Ehlers of Cleghorn, Iowa; a brother, Harold of Dubuque, Iowa; seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Lawler.

Irene A. Schmidt
MOVILLE, Iowa - Irene A. Schmidt, 96, of Moville, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, in Kingsley, Iowa, following a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Kroona officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville. Visitation will from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Mrs. Schmidt was born July 1, 1902, in Kingsley, the daughter of Marshall N. and Annagay (Stillwell) Jacoway. She graduated from Moville High School. She married Peter Schmidt in Moville. He died in 1984.

Mrs. Schmidt was a lifelong Moville area resident. She worked at the Moville Restaurant until her marriage and then was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the Moville American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Moville Garden Club and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Verlyn and his wife, Phyllis, of Moville; a sister, Mary Casey of Monteca, Calif.; two grandchildren, Sherry Beaver and Rick Schmidt, and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Everett and William, and two sisters, Ethel and Pearl.

Pallbearers will be Andy, Katie and Shannon Beaver and Joshua, Renae and Sara Schmidt.

Brandon C. Steinhoff
ANTHON, Iowa - Brandon Clifford Steinhoff, 25, of Anthon, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, from injuries suffered in a car accident near Oto, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church of Anthon, with the Rev. Kent Kastler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Anthon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. tonight at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mr. Steinhoff was born Oct. 24, 1973, in Sioux City, the son of Ronald and Rhonda (Burow) Steinhoff. He grew up in Anthon and graduated from Anthon-Oto High School in 1992. He graduated from Western Iowa Tech Community College with a degree in automotive mechanics in 1994.

He previously was employed for Butch McClarty in Oto and currently worked with his father in farming. In 1996, he built the Anthon Service Center, which he had operated since that time.

He was a member of the Anthon United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles and farming.

Survivors include his parents of Anthon; two sisters, Tawnia and Whitney, both at home; his maternal grandmother, Eda Burow of Anthon; his paternal grandmother, Ernestine Steinhoff of Anthon; aunts and uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clifford Steinhoff, and his maternal grandfather, Frederick Burow, Jr.

Dakota Drossel
ANTHON, Iowa - Dakota Drossel, 78, of Anthon, died Saturday at a nursing home in Correctionville, Iowa.

Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Anthon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kent Kastler officiating. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral home in Athon.

Tana Kay M. Ritter
ANTHON, Iowa - Tana Kay Maxin Ritter was stillborn Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Kent Kastler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Anthon. There will be no visitation.

Tana Kay was the daughter of Jeff and Robin (Kindig) Ritter of Anthon.

Survivors include her parents; one brother, Joshua, and one sister, Laken, both at home; her maternal grandparents, Robert and LaDonna Kindig of Anthon; her paternal grandparents, Jerry and Helen Pulliam of Anthon; her maternal great grandfather, Florin Moodie of Kingsley, Iowa, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Paul W. Minten
ALTON, Iowa - Paul W. Minten, 66, of Alton died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at Orange City Municipal Hospital in Orange City, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, with the Rev. James Tigges, Alton, and Monsignor Nicholas J. Ruba, Remsen, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a St. Mary's Rosary Society rosary at 3 p.m., a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Mr. Minten was born April 28, 1932, in rural Alton, the son of Sylvester and Rose (Pottebaum) Minten. He was raised in the Alton area and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1949. He was then a farm laborer in the Remsen area.

He married Rita Buckley on Sept. 25, 1951, in Alton. The couple lived near Kingsley, Iowa, where they farmed until 1965 when they moved to a farm near Remsen. In 1974, they moved to a farm near Alton. He was employed as a night supervisor at K-Products in Orange City from 1975 to 1989.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus in Remsen.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, David of Austin, Texas, Daniel and his wife, Alicia, and Lyle and his wife, Julie, all of Sibley, Iowa, John and his wife, Donna, of Auburn, Neb., Matt of Lincoln, Neb., and Mark and his wife, Lanae, of Fresno, Calif.; six daughters, Janet and her husband, Roger Hartmann, of Gibbon, Minn., Jolene Meusburger of Springboro, Ohio, Lori and her husband, Robert Stoll, of Alton, Lynn and her husband, Kevin Poen, of Lake City, Iowa, Deb and her husband, Dave Cooper, of Sioux City and Mary Minten of Laurens, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; a great-grandson; six sisters and their husbands, Esther and James MacClure of Onawa, Iowa, Rosemary and Bill O'Gara of Dakota City, Edith and Vernon Staab and Ethel and Lyle Heidesch, all of Remsen, Helen and Fred Shockey of Winnebago, Ill., and Carol and James Schemmel of Shawnee, Kan., and three brothers, Marvin and his wife, Doris, of Parker, Colo., Lloyd of Alton and Harold and his wife, Martha, of North Pontomac, Md.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph.
