Stanley J. Christensen
Stanley J. Christensen, 86, of Beresford, S.D. died Friday at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Beresford Cemetery. Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Monday, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.

DeBou Steele Dano
DeBou "Bud" Steele Dano, 83, of Phoenix, Ariz. died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998.

Services were Nov. 28, 1998 in the chapel in Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Phoenix.

Mr. Dano was born May 31, 1914 in Chanute, Kan.

He married Eleanor C. Lyren on Aug. 14, 1940 in Sioux City. He worked for Sioux Tools, Incorporated until 1952 when they moved to Phoenix. He was an aircraft component inspector at Air Research. She died Sept. 28, 1988.

He married Virginia Mackie in 1990.

Survivors include his wife; one son Phillip and his wife Louise, and one grandson, Michael Daniel all of Socorro, N.M.; one stepdaughter, Diane; three stepsons, Wayne, Robert and Brian Mackie; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Willard G. Kohler
Willard G. "Bill" Kohler, 78, of Sioux City died Saturday at the Indian Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 9 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Judi (Aizenberg) Lerner
Judi (Aizenberg) Lerner, 51, of Omaha, Neb. died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998 at home.

Graveside services were held Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998.

Mrs. Lerner was born in Sioux City July 11, 1947, the daughter of Morris and Hannah (Holdowsky) Aizenberg. She graduated from Central High School and the University of Iowa. She taught school in Omaha.

She married Sheldon Lerner on Aug. 3, 1975 in Sioux City.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Jodi and one son, Justin, both at home; her parents of Sioux City; one brother and his wife, Jeffrey and Susan of Omaha; one brother-in-law and his wife, Dick and Martha of Omaha; one brother-in-law and his wife, Bob and Sarah of Dallas, Texas.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Omaha or Beth El Synagogue in Omaha.

Esther Fisk Mackin
Esther Fisk Mackin, 92, long-time resident of Austin, Texas died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1998 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mackin was born in 1906 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She married Joseph Hoover Mackin in 1929. She worked as a secretary on Wall Street during the Depression. After he finished his schooling at Columbia, they crossed the country in a Model T Ford. They lived in Seattle, Wash. for 28 years. She became a master handweaver, an accomplished bridge player and a fine seamstress.

They moved to Austin, Texas in 1961. He died in 1968. She then worked as a bookkeeper until retirement in 1990. She then moved to Sioux City to be close to her daughter.

She loved to weave, read biographies and play the piano.

Survivors include one brother, Vincent Fisk of Hazlett, N.J.; one daughter, Barbara Warner and her husband Jim of Sioux City; one son Robert and his wife Elaine of Seattle, Wash., and two granddaughters, Molly Barker of Austin, Texas and Amy Barker of New York City.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Neil Fisk.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Donald M. Meade
Donald M. Meade, 80, of South Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998 at a Sioux City hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, with a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Mr. Meade was born June 26, 1918 in South Sioux City, the son of Harry J. and Anna I. (West) Meade. He attended South Sioux City High School. He was employed as a carpenter for various construction companies in South Sioux City.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10753.

Survivors include two sisters, Eileen Meade of South Sioux City and Lucille Brooks of Huntington Beach, Calif. and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Frank and two sisters, Mary Phipps and Margaret Punches.

Harold J. Richardson
Harold J. Richardson, 72, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998 at home after a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Augustana Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Last officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside rites by the Morningside American Legion Post 697. Visitation will be 3 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Richardson was born July 29, 1926 in Sioux City, the son of Guy Nathan and Verna (Thomas) Richardson. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He was in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He married Rosalie F. Johnson in Hornick, Iowa on Oct. 25, 1964. He held various jobs in and around Sioux City. He was employed at Marian Health Center for 18 years at a painter in the maintenance department, retiring in May 1993.

He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Nancy and Amy, both of Sioux City; several nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel; two brothers, Earl and Doyle and two sisters, Laura and Velma.

Pallbearers will be Victor Woloshen, Charles Bales, Dave Midland, Alex Smith, Bob O'Connell and Larry Walters.

Desmond P. Riley
Desmond P. Riley, 92, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998 at a Sioux City retirement facility.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion, Monahan Post 64. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., followed by a rosary conducted by the Knights of Columbus, Dr. Tierney Council 5660, all at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Doris Beacom, 78, of Sioux City died Friday; Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Wallace R. Butler, 78, of Sioux City died Saturday; Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Wendy Marie Bauer
CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa - Wendy Marie Bauer, 18, of Correctionville died Friday.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville. Burial will be at Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Hannah Burns
LAUREL, Neb. - Hannah Burns, 91, of Laurel died Saturday at the Osmond General Hospital in Osmond, Neb.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Logan Center United Methodist Church of Laurel. Burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home in Laurel.

Betty Wilma Diamond
ANTHON, Iowa - Betty Wilma Diamond, 75, of Anthon died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Anthon with Pastor Kent Kastler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a service by the American Legion Auxilliary, at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mrs. Diamond was born Nov. 24, 1923 in Morrisville, Mo., the daughter of Hartwell Utah and Lola Mae (Benson) Perryman. She graduated in 1941 from Collinsville, Okla.

She married Franklin O. Diamond on Jan. 8, 1946 in Sioux City. She was employed at the Anthon Drug Store and Zenith Corporation until retirement.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anthon and the American Legion Auxilliary McNiff Unit 389 of Anthon for 43 years where she served as president and county president. She was an avid golfer.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, James and his wife Sally of Sioux City, Jerry of Glendale, Ariz., Marvin and his wife Linda of Sioux City and Duane and his wife Penny of Cherokee, Iowa; one daughter and her husband, Jane and Bill Schwarz of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three brothers, Ben of Forsyth, Mo., Ross of Springfield, Mo. and John of Calif.; four sisters, Marilyn Martin of Springfield, Mo., Peggy Snow of Salt Lake City, Utah, Linda Burnett of St. Louis, Mo. and Sybil Brown of Springfield, Mo.; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sons, Lyle and Larry; two brothers, Wayne Brown and Jackson Perryman and two sisters, Anajean Wallace and Pauline Coudill.

Gilbert Guenther
BRITT, Iowa - Gilbert Guenther, 91, of Britt, formerly of Galva, died Friday at Kanawha Community Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Britt. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt.

Clyde George Lang
REMSEN, Iowa - Clyde George Lang, 79, of Remsen died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars, Iowa after a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. Visitation will begin 7 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.

Mr. Lang was born June 1, 1919 in Le Mars, the son of Albert F. and Irene (Stockstill) Lang. He attended country school then went to Remsen High School.

He started farming in 1941 in the Remsen area. He was later joined by his brother, Howard, in farming.

He moved to Sioux City in October 1996 to be with his brother, Wayne. On Dec. 1, 1998 he moved to the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center.

He was a member of Farm Bureau. He loved farming and fishing.

Survivors include two sisters and their husbands, Marjorie I. and Bernard Cote' of Leesburg, Fla. and Grace V. and William Stine of Lake Placid, Fla.; three brothers, Wayne A. of Sioux City, Roger J. and his wife Helen of Spokane, Wash. and Howard K. of Remsen and one brother-in-law, Kevin Rollins of Remsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Rita Rollins and two infant brothers.

Joyce M. Murray
ONAWA, Iowa - Joyce M. Murray, 64, of Onawa died Saturday at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Onawa. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pierson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Lillian Sonksen
HARTLEY, Iowa - Lillian Sonksen, 91, of Hartley died Saturday at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley. Visitation will begin after 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn.

Viola Trei
ASHTON, Iowa - Viola Trei, 83, of Ashton died Saturday at Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Walton, Roste & Vogel Funeral Home of Ashton is in charge of arrangements.

Carroll Vander Kooi
HINTON, Iowa - Carroll Jean Vander Kooi, 64, of rural Hinton died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998 at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Gary P. Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vander Kooi was born Feb. 6, 1934 at Antigo, Wis., the daughter of Elmer and Lucille (Mikkelson) Fritsch. She was raised and attended school in Antigo.

She married Fred Vander Kooi on Nov. 1, 1952 at Elk Point, S.D. They lived for about 15 years in the Antigo area until 1968 when they moved to the Hinton and Merrill area.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter and her husband, Kay and Richard Marks of Merrill; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Rolin of Burr Oak, Mich. and Arlene Brown of Howe, Ind.; four brothers, Robert, Richard, Duane and Donald, all of Antigo and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Karen Sherlock and one sister, Lila Dickman.
